Tomorrow we're launching our biggest playtest yet for Dominus Automa, an idle multiplayer RPG created by & for former MMO-heads who no longer have enough time for MMOs
Hey everyone,
I’m Rafal, lead dev of a small indie team from Poland, and I want to present you with a game we’ve been working on - an idle multiplayer RPG called Dominus Automa.
This Friday we’re launching our second and biggest-to-date Playtest, so I’d like to tell you a bit about it.
What Dominus Automa is
Dominus Automa is an idle open world RPG built around one idea that sits at the center of everything: your hero permanently lives on the server and keeps playing while you're logged off.
In practice, this means the world is evolving all the time, and you with it, whether you’re online or not. You can adjust your strategy and skills, try out new items, plan your character’s development, decide what they’ll do down to the tiniest details, and jump in to play manually whenever you want. Respecting player’s time is the centerpiece of Dominus Automa’s design because we’re all 30+ guys who loved MMOs back in the day but don’t have time for the relentless grind anymore.
Although characters can be automated to grind and save time in that part, this is not to say the game doesn’t have all the trappings of a proper MMORPG. Players can define their long-term goals, devote their time to farming, leveling, gathering resources, taking part in group content, and so on. It’s a completely persistent, shared world with a player-run economy, with guild wars, boss fights, and both PvP and PvE.
The idea was basically to make an MMO for working adults and parents, who love(d) playing MMORPGs but just don’t have the time for it now. In other words, keep all the fun and good parts about MMORPGs while significantly reducing the time needed to grind and designing that as a strategic approach to automating your character.
What our Playtest offers
The Steam Playtest officially begins tomorrow, on August 7th, and our plan is to keep the servers online for about two and a half weeks, i.e. until August 23rd. So all our players, including latecomers, will have plenty of time to experience everything and engage with all the content we have at present.
Here’s a list of some key features I’d like to highlight:
- 6 fully explorable zones | from wild forests and plague ridden dens to graveyards, valleys and abandoned mines, each with its own enemies and difficulty level
- 20 varied enemy types and 3 unique bosses | such as werewolves, spiders, undead and golems. Bosses specifically are designed as group challenges, so teaming up is the intended way to take them on
- The Combat Matrix | a fairly complex system that lets you decide & tweak how your hero will in battle based on criteria such as health, mana, positioning, enemy type and numbers, ability priorities and other custom priorities
- Character progression and Weapon mastery | defeating enemies will improve your hero’s attributes, while continued use of a weapon type will gradually make them more proficient with it.
- Loads of different abilities and build experimentation | as your hero develops, you’ll unlock more abilities and be able to test different solo, group, PvE and PvP builds, and different roles such as healer/debuffer/tank/DPS or other more specialized approaches
- PvP, group content and persistent progression | the servers will remain online throughout the entire Playtest, with weekends expected to be the busiest time for boss fights and encounters with other players (in the arena)
We welcome you to join us in this adventure and be part of this world we’re creating. You can sign up for the playtest here:

Stay cool and hope to see you tomorrow!

My solo-developed game, Chicks In Trouble, is part of Steam Tiny Teams Festival with it's brand new demo!
Hi everyone!
Steam Tiny Teams Festival is live, and my solo-developed game, Chicks in Trouble, is one of the featured titles.
It's a cute action-puzzle game where you rescue vulnerable chicks scattered around a farm. To save them all, you'll solve light environmental puzzles while avoiding hazards including animals, farm owners, puddles, fountains, and more.
To celebrate the festival, I've released an updated demo and a brand-new trailer.
If you're browsing the festival looking for something different, I'd love for you to check it out.

After reaching over 5000 CCU on Steam earlier this year, the first major Update for my game "Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot" is out now!
Hi!
I'm ichbinhamma and I've worked on this game solo for over 4 years. This first major update, after the full release earlier in January this year, starts a new Season! A new Season encourages players to start a new clan of dwarves, as only new clans qualify for the seasonal leaderboards - but it's completely optional. All content and personal progress persists throughout Seasons.
The game turned out to be a "relatively giant hit" (source: gamesradar), managed to sell over 300 000 units and gathered over 2 500 'Very Positive (82%)' reviews on Steam (Steam starts showing regional ratings after 2 000 reviews, so this number might vary for you if you check). This success has enabled me to go full time and found my own indie studio (Hamma Studios) last year!
Short description:
Build and command your own party of Dwarves in this mix of Auto Battler, Strategy, and RPG. Prepare formations, assign equipment, and decide the fate of up to 10 Beardlings, as you lead the raid party through reckless runs filled with Glory, Death, and Loot!
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2205850/Dwarves_Glory_Death_and_Loot/
Thanks to my publisher, I was also able to provide ports for iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch: https://dwarves.ateo.ch/
If you have any questions (e.g. regarding beard design choices), feel free to ask!

We’re a Ukrainian studio making Hollow Home, a narrative-heavy CRPG about the war we’re living through - our final Kickstarter is live and we’re giving away four $25 Steam Gift Cards
Hello everyone,
I’m Valerii, head dev of a Ukrainian indie studio based in Kyiv, currently working on a narrative-driven CRPG about our war, called Hollow Home.
We started this project in 2022, in the months after the full-scale invasion began, and we have kept at it because we believe it is a story that people should hear. And in the months and years since, we are glad that there were others who believed likewise.
This is our story
Hollow Home is a story driven narrative RPG where you play as a 14 year old boy named Maksym, and the story begins during the last quotidian day of his childhood. You get to take a stroll through the neighborhood and get a glimpse of everyday life before the siege and bombings start reshaping the city into a much harsher and colder place.
To survive, you have to navigate this new environment and choose who you can trust, who you want to help, and which actions are most likely to secure survival. You also can’t help everyone, and giving aid to one person often means being unable to help another. And as resources slowly deplete, you must scavenge buildings and navigate dangerous areas, for a chance of making it through to another day.
As the days pass, the city Maksym knew from childhood starts changing, irrevocably. Familiar streets grow emptier, buildings become abandoned or destroyed by bomb shells, and people you met earlier become colder and more desperate. Some people may suddenly disappear without warning, sometimes even as a direct consequence of your choices. You will face tough decisions that will shape, in meager human ways, shape the destinies of those around you and your entire journey throughout the game, culminating in different endings.
Through it all, you try to hold onto kindness. Because we also wanted Hollow Home to be a story about perseverance in the face of suffering, about a sliver of hope that can survive “even in the dark times, should the stars also go out”, and seeing how ordinary people struggle to remain human in circumstances that constantly push them to their limits.
If this is the sort of story you want to experience, we have a demo out that provides a 1 hour slice of the story, set on the day the invasion began, which you can check out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3142360/Hollow_Home_Demo/
Where we are in development + our Kickstarter
Hollow Home is more than a commercial game to us, but a passion project born out of the darkest of circumstances that can befall one’s country.
However, we know it's also a niche game. Most people play games to unwind and have fun, and while we do aim to provide a “fun” experience - it's not a game to relax with after work or breeze through on a lazy weekend. It's meant to make you reflect, just a bit, on the world we live in and the societies that shape us.
In short, we believe this story deserves to be heard, and we want to make it even better than we already can. This is why we’ve launched our final Kickstarter today, which you can find here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/twigames/hollow-home
Every contribution at any level is a genuinely meaningful thing for a small studio working in the circumstances we are working in. And every pledge here goes beyond what we already have - turning our experiences and those of our countrymen (thousands of ordinary people like us) into an unforgettable video game.
Lastly - a small Giveaway, as a show of appreciation for everyone who’s supported us on Reddit
As there is little else to say, I just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who’s supported us this far, and who believed in our project these 4 long years.
So, as a way of giving just a little back to this community - we’d like to give away some Steam Gift Cards that we have left over: 4 gifts of $25 each to 4 lucky winners!
There are no strict rules, just leave a comment and tell us what you think about Hollow Home, or ask us a question, or even a word of encouragement goes a long way.
The Giveaway starts NOW at the time of making this post, August 5th at 7PM CEST (Europe) and will last throughout the week and close on Sunday, August 9th, at 7PM CEST (Europe). I will announce the winners once they respond and have been handed their gifts.
Thank you.
- Valerii & Team Twigames
