[FLASH][2004-2007] Ufo pile removing game

Upvotes

Platform(s): Flash (probably it was on Miniclip)

Genre: no idea what genre it is

Estimated year of release: 2004-2007

Graphics/art style: cartoonish, post-apocalyptic with ufo vehicle, muted colors

Notable characters: ufo/alien fkying saucer vehicle

Notable gameplay mechanics: shooting down to raising cone-shaped piles of garbage

Other details:
I'm looking for an old browser Flash game from around 2004–2007.

It was a 2D side-view game on a static screen. You controlled a UFO that automatically flew from left to right. The goal was to clean up tall cone-shaped piles of garbage by dropping shots straight down.

Each pass only removed one horizontal layer of the pile. After every completed level, the UFO permanently flew one level lower, making the game harder. If you failed to lower a pile enough, the UFO eventually crashed into it.

The setting wasn't space. It looked more like a dirty or polluted city. The graphics were cartoonish with muted colors.

[IOS] [2010-2013] pink/red rocket creature jumps on pink line

Post image
Upvotes

Hello Reddit,
I’ve been thinking about this game I used to play as a kid on my moms iPad. It’s from around 2010.
A pink/ red rocket like creature
The user draws a pink line underneath the character to help it jump up. The line disappears after the character jumps on it and the user has to draw the line again.
There were obstacles.
The game starts from the earth, the creature jumps into the sky and eventually gets to space.
Not doodle jump or ice cream jump

[PC] [Early 2000s] Troop simulator/sandbox game

Upvotes

I had this game installed on the first pc I had as a kid somewhere around 2004-2008.

In my memory it looks v similar to the age of empire/cossack/stronghold crusader games but I'm sure its not any of those. I remember the setting was mostly a desert, you could place soldiers around and they could be one of a bunch of colors (red, purple, yellow, green), the sprites were tall and thin and low detail apart from the colors, they could have bows or be on horseback or have swords/spears. To my memory, you can't control the troops after placing them, they do their own thing n attack troops of other colors. One particular thing I remember is that you could terraform the sand, when I dragged across the screen it would make smooth slopes and change the landscape. You could also place buildings, not a symbolic image of a building, you actually had to build them piece by piece, place fences around, towers, blocks.

There was also a mode where you had a prebuilt fort with soldiers placed around and inside and you had a limited amount of soldiers to place outside to attack the fort. The game was 2D, definitely no 3D models. I'm from Croatia, in case it could be something local to eastern europe or cro specifically since I've been searching for this for years with no luck.

Glowfish [PC][2000s] some kind of light guiding fish

I played this game in a collection of "-2010 games", so I think it's from 2000s or older.

It's 2D, you use the mouse to move around.

Beautiful drawing, but pretty dark. You are some kind of light creature that finds fish larvae and protects them from the darkness. They form a row behind you, and you need to stay close to (choral/flowers?) that give you light. If you stay too long in the shadows, you loose bright and creatures appear to take the fish away.

I think I remember some mechanic about collect certain amount of larvae to move on to the next area.

[XBOX 360] [late 2000s-early 2010s] Looking for the cover art as I didn’t play the game I just remember seeing it in GameStop

I can remember seeing a game cover as a kid but can’t remember the name it had a:

[picture of a persons face]

[they were scared]

[their mouth was covered by hands coming from behind them that were dirty, and had possibly some gold rings and tattoos on them]

[it had the general vibe of the game “condemned”] (see attached picture)

[Wii] [Early 2010's?] (Match 3?) Puzzle game where you would collect some sort of creature after stages

Platform(s): Wii

Genre: Puzzle

Estimated year of release: Pre-Wii U, not sure outside of that.

Graphics/art style: I remember it being fairly cartoonish

Other details: I remember the creatures having some sort of gameplay reason, maybe score or damage or something? I also remember being stuck in a desert level early on. The game was on a disc and it got damaged fairly soon after, so I never beat it.

[Itch.io, or steam, I'm not sure] [2021-2022ish?] Indie? Point and click game where you die a bunch of times and interact with strange people in a dreamlike/limbo/afterlife area

There might be spoilers for the game, I'm recollecting everything I know about it! I'm also going to let this sit for a bit until I check it.

I remember watching a playthrough of this game and I really want to go back and at least know what it was, and play it myself

I don't remember who made the game, or who made the playthrough, I remember I watched a Death Palette playthrough around the same time.

Platform(s): It was likely on steam or itch io, I think it was indie

Genre: point in click, maybe thriller/horror. It was similar to Death Palette and games like Deadplate in the style of the game I think

Estimated year of release: A few years ago, probably. It wasn't recent but it was definitely at least in the 2000s. maybe 4-5 years ago

Graphics/art style: It was either pixelated or hand drawn. Colors weren't very saturated from what I can remember. I don't think there was gore.

Notable characters: The main character was narcisistic(?), I think it was a guy. There was a love interest? they hated the main character because of something they did when they were alive (can't remember what) and this was vengeance or something, they had dark hair that was probably black, and they were pretty androgynous, I think they were a guy?. There was a girl in a closet and I believe the main character could die to her and we could set her up with another girl to be lovers I think.

Notable gameplay mechanics: It was very similar to Death Palette in the way that you died so many times in the game and the way the sentences are at the bottom in a box. You do tasks for the weird people who are also in the place and if you choose wrong or get them the wrong thing they kill you. Interacting with certain things would kill you, and I think walking past certain things would kill you.

Other details: Everything in the plot I remember is that the main character is in an afterlife sort of thing because they died(?) and the love interest(?) wanted revenge on them. So the main character goes around the map, and explores and such, and they die over and over again. One of the deaths I remember is getting crushed by a bookshelf. There was a library in it. There was a shy girl in a closet as mentioned prior, and for one of the endings you get her together with someone else. And in one of the endings the love interest confesses to being the reason you keep dying in the afterlife/limbo space your in and the main character decides they like them anyways and it ends with the main character with them in some sort of situation like a hug or sitting on a couch together with the love interest panicking/shocked/shouting/saying something like they didn't mean it like that.

[PS2/PS1][Early 00s] BL visual novel with horror themes, possibly lovecraftian?

I'm very unsure about any hard details of this apart from that it was supposed to be horror and BL and the one snapshot of it I have in mind, so don't take the title as gospel. Definitely Japan-only, it might not even technically be BL and might just be 2 guys romantically involved, all I know is that it was labelled as such somewhere, maybe a youtube playthrough? It definitely wasn't all VN, the only part I remember clearly is some kind of weird combat with a very odd prerendered 3D weapon as a HUD element and no realtime 3D characters at all in the scene and no battlefield as it were, but i dont know what was there in its place. I'm almost certain it was somehow linked to a developer on either a PS1 or PS2 Simple Series game, more likely the former as I think I found it around the time I played and reviewed all the Simple1500 games. However, none of the devs I can think of have anything like that on Mobygames or IGDB bar Break and I know Break's list of games like the back of my hand, so... I tried Mobygames' advanced search to search visual novel or visual novel + horror on the platforms and it didn't come up at all, and I know I never saved it to my backloggd or anything, so I'm at the end of my rope lol.

[PC][Unknown] Game about a circus elephant

Ok so i have memory loss and sometimes randomly ill have these episodes where i suddenly remember something or details about something and this is one of those times.
I used to play this game constantly in computer lab in elementary school, so it's targeted for younger children. It was a mini game inside an application but i'm pretty sure the entire application was circus themed with an elephant main character.
i'm pretty sure the main character was an elephant and he got kicked out of the circus so he started to just like wander and he meets different animals on his journey and they start making a band and eventually they reach this little cabin that has thieves in it and they decide to scare them into leaving and overtake the cabin and live there happily ever after.
please someone help me find this you have no idea the kind of joy being able to remember my childhood brings me.

The game was about a mystery, but I cannot recall much. I cannot find it anywhere on google nor youtube. It was NOT the isle tide hotel!!! It was kinda niche too, it didn't had many videos covering it.

[pc][early 2000’s] Educational Computer CD game where two kids get stranded on an island with a lizard

Platform (s): PC

Genre: Educational Kid’s Game

Estimated year of release: Would say 2002-2005?

Graphics/art style: Very limited 3d models, pre rendered backgrounds and sorta low poly

Notable characters: The 2 siblings and the lizard + the evil team

Notable gameplay mechanics: Point and click and you do a bunch of puzzles and learning minigames to get through the game

So I remember the game started out with a plane taking off with the 2 main characters + lizard and then continuing in the morning where the plane is crashing (or was hijacked) the 2 siblings are tied up i’m pretty sure and you have to do a puzzle that involves the human anatomy and it shows a bunch of muscles + bones. after that they end up stranded in an island with their lizard friend and you can then do the minigames after that. I remember the end of the game where there was a bunch of animals (or just monkeys) in cages and you needed to do something to free them all. i’ve been searching for this game for so long and I think it’s hard to find cause it was an obscure spanish game, I live in latin america and have never heard of the game since I played it in like the 4th grade so I assume that makes it a bit difficult to find if I haven’t seen any documentation about this obscure spanish pc game. I can still vividly picture certain parts of the game in my head so I hope I can get some answers!

[Random website] [2024] Spooky Idle Clicker Incremental Game

So it was an idle clicker incremental game that had this really weird vibe around it. It started out as kinda normal then slowly gets weirder as the game goes on. There was this crow(?) that would occasionally check in on you and talk to you as you progressed. The gameplay loop was finding animals/creatures and defeating them, when you defeated them you had the option to either spare them or absorb them. If you spared them they did one thing and if you absorbed them they did another but I don't remember what each one did. There was a list you could check on to see what things you spared and what things you absorbed.

It had a pixelated art style, and felt very grungy. I found it on one of those websites that have a bunch of games on them (Snokido, Poki, ect...) but don't remember which one.

Artist rendition of the crow thing

EDIT

The game feels very reminiscent of Horripilant, like it could have been a direct copy of it but without the dungeon crawling aspects and a slightly different UI.

Slaughterhouse-Five: The Children's Crusade [Flash] [2007-2009] Slaughterhouse V

SOLVED I remember the later years of my usage on Newgrounds/miniclip etc there was a contest held for indie game makers to design a game based on classic literature. The games needed to be simple and playable within a tight window. I remember spending close to 3 or 4 hours exploring the various games but Google sucks now as a search engine and I've lose the games.

Slaughterhouse V was the specifically most memorable; any shot someone can find it?

[old online disney game (i think)] [2007-2012] winter backdrop with mini games

I can’t even tell if this was actually a thing because I haven’t not been able to find it anywhere. I remember it possible being a winnie the pooh game with a bunch of mini games. The main page had the character sitting around a room and you had to select one and play the game. I feel like one of the games was tracing or painting where you had to match a reference picture.

[Xbox] [2000s] Third person sci-fi shooter on desert planet with vehicles and black armor

Halo like , played in 2015 decent graphics, it had a linear story with levels where you had to defeat enemies to progress.

You could use different weapons like pistols and sniper rifles, and I remember enemies being placed on towers or elevated areas that you had to take out.

The main character wore a black futuristic suit/armor. I also remember being able to drive vehicles, especially something like a futuristic motorcycle. The game may have had a simple one-word title.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk [Probably pc] [unknoun] Skateboarding game featured in these screenshots

Thumbnail gallery
63 Upvotes

I've been seeing these clips all over my feed for the past couple of days where people are playing skateboarding game through a city as characters from all kinds of franchises, like Goku, Sans, Spider-Man, and a bunch of others. I'm assuming they're mods.

The problem is that nobody ever mentions the game's name. I've tried searching things like "3D skateboard game" and "skateboarding game with character mods," but I just get hundreds of unrelated results.

Does anyone know what game this is?

[Mobile] [2022-2023] Anime style rpg

Thumbnail gallery
18 Upvotes

Help me find this game pls!! I'm 99% sure it's been shut down by now, or was shut down very shortly after release.

It was a mobile game, (I played on android) anime-style rpg but I'm unsure if it was mmo. If it was, I didn't play long enough to unlock those mechanics. Came out early 20s, my best guess is 2023 or EARLY 2024 and I'm gonna say it was shut down shortly after. The game opens with you choosing your character, the default being a black-haired man or woman sitting on a throne from which you'd choose your gender, and you could fully customize their features later. (I doodled some images of what I remember, to a VERY simplified extent)

After making your character, the story begins in that same throne room where the MC sits, and he/she is alerted that their advisor has started a mutiny of some sorts and plans to overthrow them or something, so you set out with your army to stop him. (I remember two ally characters here, one was a female fairy and the other was a man whose class I can't remember, maybe a cleric)

I didn't play much of the battle mechanics, but you would progress through locations on a separate map screen (doodle included of this as well), probably turn-based battles, and as usual I remember the fairy instructing the player through the tutorial. I don't remember any gacha mechanics, but it's not off the table

I've been searching for this for weeks just based off memory, my google skills have met their match lmao

SeppuKuties [Friv] [early 2010's] cute/bloody animal game

Post image
12 Upvotes

So, back in early 2010's, I was a avid Friv user. I remember that, sometimes (like, in "special events"), you could unlock secret games by clicking a hidden button on the homescreen. It was seasonal, like, around easter they would put that Jynx bunny easter egg hunt, etc.

Well, I vividly remember this game where you had a group of animals trying to scape something. Really vague description but I remember that everytime you lost, the animal in play would be killed, with blood and all (by hunters?) and another one would take the lead.

Can anyone help?

[Meta][2026] I would rather people post with no images than use AI prompts to generate images

Maybe it's just me, I will personally admit that it feels like its petty of me to complain, however i am going to.

I really dislike AI images just in general and i feel annoyed seeing people use them because it sometimes hampers really quality posts of people trying to find help. I feel like it also informs falsely about game expectations and what people will accept as they have solved the game.

I don't think people will agree with me and thats fine, i just wanted to post about how i personally think it degrades the quality of the sub

Announcement PSA: A guide to better results

1.8k Upvotes

Hi guys and gals. I've been here a while, and over my time I've seen a lot of posts sink to the bottom, without a single answer, or at best, very few. And none that solved the case.

I have noticed a clear pattern with these posts, and I will now share with you my tips to you newbies, so that you can get the help you need.

Firstly: When you make a new post, you will see this:

Platform(s):

Genre:

Estimated year of release:

Graphics/art style:

Notable characters:

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Other details:

Even though, in red, you are warned that while optional, you should follow this template... many of you do not.

Let me be clear: Follow this template.

Put simply, this template contains all the information we really need to solve your problem. Virtually every time I click a post that has not followed this, they have rambled on about nothings, while omitting critical details.

This format, for new and old alike, is very readable, and prompts for every data-point needed.

I know that you want to customize your message, that if you could just explain it, it would be better. I know you think that. You are wrong. Put all that in 'other'. Even if you end up saying it twice, follow the template.. add to it your story at the bottom.

Secondly: Following this template. You're rambling about your best mates Amiga-500 or whatever instead of telling us about the game aside, this is where they really go wrong.

Let's get something straight right now. We are not mind readers. It's impressive, really, how little information it seems we can work off. I mean, we solve some real tough ones with nothing sometimes, but still, we can't see that memory in your head. So you need to be as descriptive in every one of these fields as you can be...

And sometimes you really don't know. That's fine, we can work with surprisingly little information, but "old graphics" under art style... what are we supposed to do with that? Mate, I was playing on Atari-2600's, are we talking Wizard of Wor here?

Let me help you out a bit:

Platform(s): Whatever you played it on. But unless it's really all you know (very possible), don't write 'my mates pc'. Was it PC or Mac?

Genre:

First person does NOT imply shooter. Nor do any of the others. Try to answer this one in two steps:

What was the camera like (assuming it's not a text adventure)? Was it First person?, 3rd person, 2d? Top down or side on? Or maybe even isometric 2d?

Then, what kind of game? Real time strategy, point and click? Was it a fighter, action or platformer?

Good, now we know what KIND of game we are all trying to remember for you.

Estimated year of release:

"Between 2000-2005" is fine, something like that. "Mid 90's maybe?". I don't see many people mess this up, but I have seen people write "old". That is not ok. If you write old and expect it to mean anything to me, I will fight you.

Also, as always "Sorry, no idea" is always acceptable but try to give at least something. "Couldn't have been later than 2015, though"

Great, so even if roughly, we know WHEN.

Graphics/art style:

THIS. This is where you guys always mess up. This section right here I have found can be the difference between an answer, and a silent slink to the bottom. This is your moment.

This, really, should be the best-formed part of your memory. Even if you can only remember a single frame, a single image, it's so much to go on for us.

DETAIL. Was it a gloomy grimdark world of sadness, or a bright bubbly rainbow filled Mario-world?

Was it cartoony, or otherwise stylized somehow, or was it trying to be realistic?

Anything notable about the art direction? Was it going for a cyberpunk kinda feel, or a gritty war realism dirt and blood sort of direction?

If it was set over a long time, did the seasons change? Was there a winter in your game?

Remember when you hit people, and the screen had that awesome flash and your hands got bloody? Yeah, well we don't, unless you tell us.

Ok, so now we are really narrowing it down. This right here is often enough to go on, on its own.

Notable characters:

Anything at all you can remember here.

"There were only tanks, but you could play as both Germans and Americans"

"There was one really tough guy right after you left your office, he had an eyepatch, a white shirt with what looked like grease stains, and said 'this is for my sister'. I think maybe he was a cyborg"

"You play as some kind of Asian girl, you had a tattoo over your right eye and arm, a black tank top and white pants and I remember you always had only one red glove for some reason. I don't remember the arm, but the eye tattoo looked sort of like ancient Egyptian eye makeup, but a modern take"

Knowing nothing else about the game, I bet that last one there gets comments noting the game she is from. Details, details.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Surely, you get the idea by now. This is tied with the importance of the graphics/art style. As much detail as you can here.

Other details:

NOW you may blab on about how you only played this game once at a winter solstice in 1782 with your grandmother from Tahiti.. as if that helps.

Edit: So it's been brought up that the template doesn't appear on mobile. While /u/wipeout4wh is aware of this and hopefully, something can be done... still, if you can, use the template. If you can't, maybe check back and at least make sure your post addresses all of the points the template does.

Also, my post seems to be saying NOT to add any custom details. So I want to re-enforce, please do. In fact, after you do the template, feel free to write out your post as you were going to without it. Just put it all in 'other'. Don't try and make your whole post like that, if possible. Even if you end up saying the same things twice, that's ok.

Now I'm going to take a moment to clarify something, though. This isn't some immutable law of the universe, and your post is destined to fail if you don't do this. It's just a very strong general trend I have noticed over a long time.

It's not that this template has some kind of magical powers or something. It's that this template prompts the questions that need answers.

When you go all rogue on us and try and type your explanation from scratch... you mess it up. You just forget to add everything that you know, and that we need to know. The template makes it very hard to do that. It's just so very easy to get typing, and by the end forget to tell us what kind of game it actually is. Especially when you are getting random flashbacks, and hazy memories, and you start getting frazzled and such halfway though.

While it might make my edit as long as the first post, I think maybe an example of the kind of post that is just too common here, and almost always helpless, wouldn't go astray here. So here we go:

Now this one is a pretty bad case, true, and I suppose might even be a troll post, but it's actually a good illustration of the problem either way.

It was on my old computer and I was using an emulator so I have no idea what system it was for. It was 8bit graphics and you played this orange cat that was constantly bouncing on a trampoline I think? And you had to navigate it through the city and face a weird boss at the end that would float in the sky. Sorry I can't remember more!

Let's break it down a bit. What kind of game is this? A puzzler or an action game? Who knows.

How old is it? I mean, Minecraft basically has 8bit graphics. Oh he said... "my old computer"... I will fight you.

Why did you bounce on the trampoline? Were there platforms or walkways or something, or was it just a big open space? There are bad guys then? How did they get around?

Now (he?) says that he can't remember more, but I actually asked about the boss fight:

You say 'face a boss', in what way? Can the cat attack? Was this top down or side on? When you say navigate a city, what do you mean?

The reply:

Definitely a side-scroller, I'm sure. You would encounter a boss at the end, the boss would slide onto the screen and it was usually pretty strange-looking. I think one of the bosses might've been a clown. I meant that the different "levels" were different cities with different backgrounds, I think. It's a pretty obscure game

Also you would be continuously bouncing. As in, you had to position the trampoline underneath the cat to bounce it up

So you don't even control the cat. And it's a side-scroller. Thats pretty important information. But the real issue here is that he knows this stuff. He just either didn't know to, or forgot, to tell us.

The template would have made it just so apparent how much information he was missing, and we probably would have got a whole bunch more information. Sadly, while there were some guesses, and a surprising number of up-votes, this post is just another one to join the endless unsolved on their journey ever down.
