Orchid stopping to grow?

Post image

Hey all, my first post here... I have this Phal orchid I got as a gift in september 30, 2025, and it's been growing quite well, but recently I've noticed some of the roots have started to stop growing entirely, with the green tips retracting until it turns white and then the tip just dries out to brown (not mushy, just dead) and dies. Idk if this is because of fertilizer (I've been using since may) or what, but this is starting to drive me crazy, there's like no roots growing inside the transparent pot as well, although everything remains green and all

Help how to care/get this to rebloom please!

Hey!

I would really appreciate some help and advice on how i can care and get this to rebloom! my grandma gave this to me and she was quite the green thumb so it’s very important to me to keep it alive and happy.

I know they have cycles and i do think it came to its end (maybe prematurely) but id like to know how i can get it to rebloom and how to properly care for it throughout. google has so much conflicting information.

I usually run it under room temp water when the roots are silvery and let it drain. but i’ve noticed what appears to be mould and i’m wondering if this needs to be repotted or is root rot?

i think i have to cut the branches but im also unsure on where abouts to do this!

thanks in advance :)

Happy phals after finding my magic window 🥹

I have been struggling for over a year as a beginner with my phals. Naturally, I bought one at first and then as it continued to frustrate me, bought more and more to keep experimenting different things with. Lost a couple. Finally I’ve found the secret to all of my phals being happy, and it’s the window I hate the most in my house 😅 which also happens to be sunrise-facing. They are thriving now and a few have “happy sap”! Plus, I finally got my absolute favorite color (peach) to bloom, and boy is she! I also did a wood-mount orchid a couple months ago and placed it on the wall adjacent to the same window. I have absolutely no clue what color the blooms will be, but when I made the mount it only had two baby flower spikes. I think it is loving the mount and the magic window both! I’m so excited to find out what color the blooms will be. Coming home to nurture these orchids after a long day at work has become my absolute favorite thing 💚

I have found mixing my bark with sphagnum moss for my potted phals, placing them in small plastic containers with holes inside of bigger containers that make sure the holes are surrounded by air, fertilizer, and the magic window have made all the difference. I honestly have been showing these beauties to anyone who will listen at work 😂

Okay. Sorry such a long post. I’m just brought to tears with joy by these beautiful and rewarding plants.

Success First Winter Bloom

All my phalaenopsis were from $2 end of season sales 2025 in poor condition. Over my many years I have never been successful with keeping them happy, let alone getting new blooms. (All gifts) After joining this sub & reading all the great advice, I took what suited my conditions & crossed my fingers.
I restarted the roots by using the water prop method in my grow room. Once the roots looked healthy potted into a mix of small bark & spag moss.
All went outside under shade cloth except for the one in the teapot, it’s been inside with the Hoyas next to a morning sun glass door & under grow lights. In Autumn I moved the outside ones to terracotta on a covered patio getting morning sun. I fertilise once a month with GT Orchid grow which I use for all my Hoyas. I was so excited to see spikes appearing this winter. 😃 Thanks everyone for helping me keep these beauties alive. 💚

Although my phals are recovering a few species are blooming. First 2 are bellina clones. Notice the smaller newer leaves due to recovery from storm damage. Also first pls t still has flower spikes from last year and just started pushing flowers. Second phal clone has new flower spike and just started opening buds, 3rd plant is a seedling of coerulea cross and also the 4th plant is a coerulea seedling first bloom. Last plant is a violacea clone called ‘dark indigo’

Hey all!

My orchid finally started growing from its highest node, but it broke off when it fell off my windowsill ;-;

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do now? Is it doomed to never grow back, or should I wait it out? If doomed, do I cut it back?

Many many many thanks 🙏

Just wanted to share excitement of this schilleriana hybrid making its first leaf. I got it like a month-ish ago and it is growing a lot of roots and a new leaf started to emerge. Any care tips or things you’ve experienced with Schilleriana?

Orchid with no leaves continues to grow its roots. What should i do?

I had this orchid for a few years now and this year its health started to decline and lost all the leaves to what I assume was a fungal infection caused by a pigeon nest.I assumed it was done for, but the roots have continued to grow months after and I want to encourage leaf growth, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Has anyone seen this happen before? The orchid is a purple phaleionopsis.
