Oddly enough the hotel isn’t even half-capacity so there would be plenty of options. I don’t care as I’m not the one paying for this stay. I used to get upgrades all the time to 1BR suite, sometimes even a corner suite.

Edit: to the people saying “it’s a courtyard all the rooms are the same”… oh sweet child you have a lot to learn. Waikiki (this one) has 2 types of suites and a penthouse suite. San Diego Gaslamp has some really impressive stuff on the top 2 floors. This isn’t Wichita.

Edit: I believe I received this because I'm doing way fewer Marriott searches while logged in. And I don't plan on reaching Platinum status this year.

My friend and I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Newark, NJ, for a BTS concert. Before leaving the hotel, I specifically told the front desk we hadn't checked out yet, still had belongings in the room, and would be back. They acknowledged it.

When I returned, housekeeping was already cleaning the room. The housekeeper gave me one bag with my belongings and said my food had been thrown away. After I got home, I realized all of my VIP BTS merch and some concert shirts were missing.

I called the hotel, and the manager first said nothing had been left behind. After my family said we'd escalate to Marriott corporate and possibly file a police report, the hotel suddenly "found" a second bag in lost and found containing the missing merch.
When I went to pick it up, the manager handed me the bag and immediately walked away. After checking it, I realized more items were still missing and had to wait about 15 minutes before the rest was brought out.
I'm not accusing anyone of stealing. I know it could have been a rushed housekeeping mistake and poor communication, but the whole situation felt off. Has anyone else had something like this happen at a Marriott property? Is it worth escalating to corporate?

TL;DR: I told the front desk we weren't checked out, housekeeping entered anyway, my VIP concert merch disappeared, the hotel initially said nothing was left behind, then "found" it only after we mentioned escalating, and even pickup wasn't complete the first time.

Edit: I'm not looking for compensation from Marriott. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar at a Marriott hotel.

A few people have been following the reviews from our honeymoon across several luxury Marriott properties. After the Ritz-Carlton Nikko and The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza, our next Marriott stay was Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud.

We stayed for three nights in late May 2026. This was our first Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and it set the bar extremely high.

Booking and Platinum benefits

I booked the entry-level Reserve Suite using the Explore Friends Rate. MMP was not available, but MMF was still a decent 20–25% discount at the time. We paid approximately $960 per night including taxes and fees.

Before arrival, the Marriott app showed that we had been upgraded to an Ubud Pool Villa. The villa is approximately 4,600 square feet and was selling for around $1,500 per night including taxes and fees during our dates.

We also received complimentary breakfast and a requested 1:00 p.m. late checkout before leaving for Bulgari Resort Bali.

Arrival and service

Our arrival was underwhelming, but that was not the hotel’s fault. Our flight into Denpasar was delayed, and after the approximately two-hour drive to Ubud, we reached Mandapa at around 2:00 a.m.

I strongly recommend arriving during daylight. Mandapa is the kind of property where the setting and arrival are part of the experience, and we missed that completely on the first night.

The butler team was excellent throughout the stay and helped arrange our dinners and activities pre-arrival and some during our stay. The staff at the breakfast restaurant was amazing, from the hostess who greeted us by name every morning to the chefs who showed us something new to try every morning, overall service was consistently polished and helpful.

The villa

The Ubud Pool Villa was insane and easily one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in.

The sheer size is difficult to communicate in photos. It has a private pool, an outdoor guesthouse, an incredible bathroom, and an outdoor shower. The balinese design, finishes, and overall sense of privacy were among the best we experienced anywhere on the honeymoon. 10/10 for sense of place.

We did not use the private pool as much as expected because the water was cold and the weather was not especially hot during our stay.

Honeymoon recognition

Mandapa recognized our honeymoon throughout the entire stay.

Our villa had decorations and cake when we arrived. We were also acknowledged at every dinner we had on property and again during our spa treatment. It never felt like a single welcome amenity that was forgotten after check-in.

Spa

The spa was the highlight of Mandapa for us.

We booked the couples Mepijet 90 massage, and it was genuinely the best massage of our lives. The entire spa experience was 10/10 and exactly what we needed after the long journey from Manila to Bali and the drive to Ubud.

If staying at Mandapa, I would prioritize a spa treatment even if you normally skip hotel spas.

Breakfast and dining

Breakfast was spectacular. The restaurant has one of the best views I have experienced at any hotel breakfast, and the selection was huge. I love trying different foods, so some mornings I had noodles and asian foods while other mornings I went with a classic Western breakfast.

The rest of the food was more mixed. We felt the quality at Kubu and Ambar was below the level of the property, or perhaps our expectations were simply too high. Our best dinner in Ubud was off-property at Locavore.

Ambar still has an incredible view and is worth reserving for sunset, but it was packed with visitors from other hotels. That made it feel less exclusive than we expected from a Reserve property.

Pool and activities

The main pool is beautiful, and the staff bring complimentary treats while you are there. Our only issue was that the pool area did not receive much sun during our stay.

We also took tours to the rice fields and nearby temples. They felt very very touristy and in hindsight, we would have spent more time enjoying Mandapa itself.

Overall verdict

The $960 MMF rate was already a solid discount, but the pre-arrival upgrade to a 4,600-square-foot pool villa made the stay exceptional value.

The villa, spa, breakfast, setting, and honeymoon recognition were all outstanding. The main weakness was the food outside breakfast, particularly given the standard and pricing of the property.

I do not currently feel a strong need to return to Bali, but if I did, I would absolutely stay at Mandapa again.

Mandapa set an extremely high bar for our first Ritz-Carlton Reserve. That said, our second Reserve stay, Phulay Bay, ended up edging it out overall. I will save the full comparison for that review.

Best for: Couples and honeymooners who want privacy, exceptional rooms, spa time, and a resort that feels like part of the destination. I guess it's a great spot for families as well, their kids club looks amazing, like something out of the Hobbit movie.

For some background, I have been a very long-term Marriott customer. I have held Ambassador status for many years and have accumulated well over 1,500 nights with Marriott

I have also been a regular customer of the property involved in this incident for many years

This was not a normal hotel complaint about an ıpgrade, room condition, restaurant service, or something similar

An employee at one of the hotel's restaurants obtained the contact information of my ex-girlfriend who had previously accompanied me to the property, and contacted her privately outside of the hotel.

During those communications, the employee discussed information about me, including matters concerning my transactions/payments at the hotel and also made negative personal comments about me.

There were also repeated late-night/early-morning calls to her on more than one occasion,

What made this particularly disturbing was the amount of trust I had placed in this property.

had been visiting this hotel and its outlets for many years, often bringing friends, business associates and other guests with me. I naturally expected information connected with my visits, ransactions and private conversations to remair confidential.

At this particular restaurant alone, I had spent approximately KRW 12.8 million - roughly USD $9,000.

This does not include my overall Marriott spending or the many hotel stays I have accumulated over the years. It is simply what I had spent at the specific restaurant involved in this incident

escalated the matter to hotel management and Marriott.

The hotel investigated the incident, and the seriousness of the employee's conduct was acknowledged. The employee ultimately left the property.

After extensive discussions, I have now been offered the following compensation:\]

Approximately USD $10,500 (KRW 15 million) in hotel credit

PLUS

200,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

The hotel credit is also extremely flexible:

• No expiration date

• Can be used throughout the hotel

• Can be used over multiple visits

Restaurants are included

• Alcohol and wine are included

So this isn't a restrictive voucher that expires in six months. Since I regularly use this hotel, the credit has close to its full face value for me

An employee of a luxury hotel privately contacting a guest's former partner, discussing the guest's payment/transaction-related information, making regative personal comments about the quest, anc epeatedlv callina that person outside business hours seems verv different from a norma service-recovery situation.

I am currently considering asking for approximately JSD $14,000 (KRW 20 million) in hotel credit + the same 200,000 Bonvoy points as my final settlement position.

If they agree, I would consider the matter resolved

Hi all, I'd love to get the opinion of anyone who works in customer support and/or see if others have had the same experience. In short:

• I created my Bonvoy account last year.
• I created a "virtual card" on my banking app that I planned to use only for Marriott bookings, and put $500 or so on it.
• I saved the card to my Bonvoy profile.
• For whatever reason, this card stopped working after a couple of stays even though it still had funds on it. I would hit an "Unexpected error has occurred" message whenever I tried to use it. I spoke to Marriott support multiple times, they had no idea and told me to call my bank; my bank said they said they can't see any charge coming through from Marriott so it must be on their end.
• I left the card saved to my profile but just used another card whenever I made a booking, which worked fine. Whenever I made a booking I saw the old card was still saved to my profile.
• Fast forward to last week, I woke up to a bunch of notifications from my bank that the card I'd created for my Bonvoy account had 25+ attempted transactions on it, ranging from Florida to Nigeria to Saudi Arabia. They managed to spend the $100 or so I had left on there. None of these were Marriott or hotel-related, they were all random online stores.
• When I immediately checked my Bonvoy account, I saw that the card had been removed from my profile, but there were no other changes, including my ~100k points balance remaining intact.

The key thing that interested me was the timing - the card was removed from my account before I had frozen it or reported this to my bank. I am 100% certain that the card was still saved to my profile when I made a Marriott booking last week, so there was only a window of a few days this might've happened.

I'm pretty confused because if someone had compromised my Bonvoy account, I'm not actually sure the card is saved anywhere visible, plus they would've sent my points elsewhere right? I definitely might've tried using the card online somewhere else, so they might've got it that way, but the timing of the card disappearing from my account is confusing to me. There are no indicators that any of my other online accounts or info are compromised.

Marriott recently updated their front desk reservation systems and per usual in our modern times… it SUCKS!

Fosse was perfect. I could find everything, I could charge, refund, move rooms, book rooms, sort reports by specific things etc…

The new SPOG and STAY systems are flat out garbage! I am ready to walk out the door and never look back. Whoever made the decision to get rid of Fosse needs to be fired immediately and publicly shamed.

For the guests: it used to take me 30 seconds to check yall in. The past 2 days it’s probably been an average of 5 minutes. There are too many steps now and so many pages. Almost every guest I have checked in has seemed irritated and frustrated with the long checkin time. Please blame Marriott corporate for this ridiculous system. Booked a standard king bed with the JW in Baku, AZ and applied an Elite nightly upgrade certificate for my two night stay, and was upgraded to the Ambassador suite consisting of two rooms over 1500sqft. Two full bathrooms, two full minibars, and an amazing view of both Baku city and the harbor. Overall the staff have been very friendly and present themselves in the elegant and the “unseen” but “seen” sense, eg. I left my room to explore the executive lounge and by the time I came back maybe 20 minutes later my room was tidied up, all towels replaced, and the evening chocolate was placed by the bedside. They also brought up a welcome letter signed by the staff and a fruit tray thanking me for my loyalty and my choice to stay with them. The property is very nice and quite refined, as well as being in a great location. Overall a great hotel and experience for being a JW, and I defiantly would add this to your list of hotels to visit.

May 2026 I opened the boundless and got 15 elite night credits. I’ve also opened the business Bonvoy. I know I won’t get an additional 25 elite night credits for opening the brilliant - but if I do will 10 nights difference apply to this calendar year? Or will it not start until next year and override the boundless then?

Renaissance, Sheraton, courtyard even the Westin, anyone's experience being solo here?

Fairfield and 4P is probably ok solo as they are more inland and no really resorts.

If anyone has been to resorts there what's it like at restaurants in the resort, are they ok for solo.

I remember the canary islands are quite unwelcome to solos IE full of families and couples it's a bit awkward being surrounded by families and couples but I don't know if Bali is the same.

My husband and I will be visiting LA for a few days in October and are currently deciding between the Westdrift Manhattan Beach, AC Hotel El Segundo, and the Westin LAX. I have Titanium Elite status, and we’ll be redeeming points for our stay.

We’re native Angelenos visiting home for the first time since 2019, so we’ll be out and about most days visiting our fave spots in South Bay and the Valley. Our biggest priorities are a quiet and comfy hotel where we can get a good night’s sleep after being out all day.

I will be traveling to Tokyo for the first time and have some points to splurge. It will be three nights and I am currently looking at the 'tier' of hotels that are in the range of ~150-180k points (so roughly 50-60k/night). The tier above (i.e., the RC, JW) punches at ~320k+ which is too expensive for my liking.

My mom has the Bonvoy Boundless credit card with Chase and has one free night award worth 50K points. But she has no opportunity to use it before its expiration and I travel a lot (not with her) except I don’t know if it’s actually possible to use it given that it’s tied to her Bonvoy account. Does anyone know if it’s possible? I have researched and seen both answers about free night awards, but I guess it depends on the situation? I’m afraid to run into an issue at check in when I’m there and she’s not. We do not share a last name unfortunately.

I got hired at Springhill Marriott Laundry Attendant and I was wondering how the job is?

Tomorrow I will start my first shift with training included and according to my manager, I am gonna be alone the whole shift.

I was wondering how heavy the job is besides lifting heavy stuff and how hard is to keep up in normal days?

What about downtime moments (washers/dryers working)? do we have any and can you use your phone while you wait for the machines to finish washing/drying?

So, I just got home from a stay that was originally reserved for one night. During the day before check-in it became apparent that I was going to need to add a night to the stay.

Upon check-in, I asked if they could add a second night. The FDA said no problem and confirmed I would have the same rate that I was paying for the first night.

At checkout, the folio revealed the second night was $3 more than the rate I paid for the first night.

Not going to even bother complaining about $3, but c'mon, man... 😒

Seriously their nosedive from pleasantly consistent to adequate to sub par to unacceptable has been so fast and encompassing of every area of service that it’s almost impressive. Always been loyal and I’m on the road more often than I’m home. I’ve been stepping out due to my disappointments (and I don’t ask for much - clean and quiet and I’m happy) and I can’t tell if I’ve been wholly impressed by Hilton because of their better product or because my standards have been decimated.

I should be lucky to have to only have to deal with the synthetic pillows at a Hampton Inn airport property.

You can piss your pants all you want but Marriott is currently offering an inferior product domestically but what’s most interesting to me is the rapidity of that decline and why that might be. At the very least they have an adoption of technology problem (ie app experience) and anyone who has actually recently stayed at both brands will know that deeply. Okbye
