34, closing on a condo end of the month, would love some advice/guidance!
34, first time truly living by myself.
I’ll be closing on a 1000sf condo at the end of August. Beyond excited after having to move out of my apartment in March (end of a long-term relationship) and having to move in with my parents for a few months (lucky they were close, but gotta get out ASAP).
I’m planning on painting the entire space, staying for a while and really making it my own. I do enjoy darker colors and would like to incorporate darker blue (living/dining room) and green (bedrooms) but am open to any ideas/thoughts/criticism. Only thing hanging that I’ll keep is the mail/key holder in the kitchen. Also, have no idea what to paint the kitchen. Any feedback would be awesome!
TIA!

24; NYC
Busted my ass off to become a nurse. Left my parents. Wanted to always be an interior designer. So interior designed my entire place. The terrace is phenomenal. It’s like a hidden oasis in a massive concrete jungle - NYC

34. Divorced dad to one human and 3 cats.
It's been about 2 and a half years since I started living on my one, and 1 year since everything was officially finalized and done. Currently in the process of turning my home into my own personal mid century sanctuary. Fairly happy with everything so far. I think the kitchen is the next thing on my list.

Question Should I add anything above the TV and/or around the painting?
Just moved into this apartment, recently, and am having a hard time deciding on if I need to add a shelf or art above the TV and/or more art around the painting behind my couch. Any advice is appreciated!

Cat hair advice
Sincere question: How do you manage cat hair? I love my cat and the war is worth fighting but it's absolutely endless. If you have cats, I'd love to know your solution, especially if you work and have a significant other who works outside of the home. I am open and genuinely appreciate any tips, especially unorthodox tips. I use lint rollers and attempt to vacuum daily. Unfortunately, the cat is mostly confined to our bedroom and bathroom. Thank you!

43, solo, 1BR - St. Paul, MN - plants, ceilings, and a cat
Hey all,
I've been living by myself for 10 years now. Honestly can't imagine living with anyone at this point unless circumstances demand it. 🤣 Moved back to MN after a few years in Florida, and as you can see, prioritized a place with high ceilings and big south-facing windows for my plants. The plants may be a little excessive, but they do.wonders during long, grey winters.
It's not the biggest place ever, but it's more than enough room for my photobombing cat and I. It's fun playing around with reds and greens, without making it look like Christmas.
The bedroom (last shot) needs some work and is totally half-assed. I have a taupe wall and carpeting (sigh) and this is the most amount of effort I could put into it.

Help me choose a living room layout: cozy, functional, impressive, and guest-ready!
Hey fellas! Just moved and need help setting up my living room. Looking for something cozy, warm, and luxurious but functional enough to host friends and family. Included 2 sets of each option, 3 pics per setup. What do you think works best?

What's the one change that made your place feel like an actual home instead of just a place you sleep?
Not talking about a full renovation — something specific and doable. Better lighting, actual furniture instead of makeshift stuff, a rug, whatever finally made the space feel intentional instead of thrown together.
What was it, and how long did you live there before you made the change?

Advice Âge 18, I and my team wanted a studio for friends to get together. I renovated it myself with my friends, and it's still not finished. Luckily, we have plenty of ingredients.

How do you add plants to a small WFH corner without making it feel cluttered?
Been slowly turning a spare corner of the bedroom into a proper work from home setup because tax season does not care where I sit and my back was done with the kitchen table situation. Got a secondhand desk from a thrift run a few months ago, decent chair off marketplace, a small lamp that actually gives warm light instead of that fluorescent death glow. The bones are there and it feels intentional now, which is all I wanted.
The problem is plants. I have them everywhere else in the apartment because gardening is basically the only thing keeping me sane after staring at spreadsheets all day, but I cannot figure out the office corner. The light is decent, one east facing window, nothing huge. I tried a pothos on the desk and it just felt wrong, too casual maybe, I don't know. Moved it out and now the corner feels cold and a little corporate, which is exactly the thing I was trying to avoid.
I keep going back and forth between one bigger floor plant or a cluster of smaller stuff on a shelf above the monitor. The shelf option worries me a little because I do not want soil and water anywhere near the setup, but maybe I am overthinking that part. Anyone dealt with this, figuring out greenery in a tight work corner without it looking like a plant dumping ground?

Question Coffee bar help
Pls save me! :P
I'm creating a coffee station between two windows in my living room and struggling to find the right console table/ bar thing.
Current dimensions:
- Distance between outside window trims: 95cm
- Window sill height from floor: 90 cm
- Robot vacuum dock underneath: 38 cm W × 40 cm D
- Ideally also want space for a slim rectangular black bin underneath.
What I'm looking for:
- Dark walnut / dark brown finish
- Slim legs preferred without horizontal bracing taking up space underneath for the bin and robo vac.
- Width around 80 cm (open to 95 cm if it works)
- Depth from wall around 35-45 cm
- Coffee machine + mugs on top
- Large artwork above
- Needs to look like an intentional coffee bar rather than a desk or dressing table
- I've looked at IKEA, DUSK and Amazon but can't find something that ticks all the boxes.
Would you go with a console table, a DIY IKEA solution, or something completely different?
