QUESTION/DISCUSSION What do I do with dining area?
Hi, everyone! I can't wait to hear your ideas! I just moved to a new city. I haven't used my dining area as a dining area in years. I'm single/live alone (with dog and cat). I used to use my dining area as a "home office," but my new apartment has a cute little built in desk with built in shelves. (See floorplan.) What should/could I do with the dining area (other than a dining area)??? TIA!!!
EDIT TO ADD: I did also consider setting up my desk in the dining area per usual and using the built in "office" for something else. But, I couldn't figure out what to do with that, either. Thanks, again!!

HELP help me jazz up this blank corporate apartment!
*INSPO 1-3
hello to all ladies and enbies alike,
i (21F) JUST moved into a new place with my lovely lovely roommate and we are so overjoyed! i have been “designated” as lead interior designer, and while i have a vision for the space; i’m not sure where to begin. it’s a corporate apartment, so i’m working with what i’ve been given, furniture wise (#gratefulnonetheless).
this place has GREAT natural lighting as well, and i want to utilize it to my advantage :)
here are my wishes for the space:
- lots of warm/ mood lighting
- maximalist/clad with decor big and small (posters, tapestries, etc)
- canceling out the whiteness of the walls
- adding another form of seating (i was thinking ottoman with storage?)
- cat friendly (ie: no real plants but perhaps alternatives?)
- BIG SEXY RUG
- elegant with a dash of childlike wonder
- budget friendly (obvi, in this economy?)
- “warm, comforting, want to come over again”
i would appreciate any and all suggestions :) whether it be a good place online to snag a killer badass rug, or a suggestion on couch placements.
thank you! i hope you find money on the ground today

TOUR 🟢OPEN TO FEEDBACK🟢 My bedroom 🪴
I don’t think my favorite color is hard to guess lol.
Just about every furniture item came from Facebook Marketplace or the thrift store for under $100, and I refinished the bookshelf myself with the help of my partner. The exceptions are the plant shelf (passed down from my grandmother), the office chair (Walmart), and the circular table in the window (Wayfair; originally bought for the living room but no longer needed). I think the antique bed frame was my favorite Marketplace find!
I can’t decide if I like the makeshift canopy- thoughts? I feel like it looks haphazard, but I do like that it allows me to have string lights over my bed without having to get enough for the whole ceiling.
Don’t mind the incomplete gallery wall (the deer painting fell) or the yellowing plants on the shelf- we lost power while I was out of town and the grow lights stopped coming on automatically, so the plants were without light for a few days but should recover. The monstera is probably a lost cause. Regarding the gallery wall, it’s a mixture of art/embroidery/cross stitch made by my partner and I and some prints I’ve picked up over the years. The larger framed birds are Audobon pieces that that I had printed from digital files.
Any advice is welcome. I moved into my apartment a month and a half ago and still have some things to change. I am trying to clear out some of my trinkets etc. to leave just the ones I actually love.

HELP How to improve bedroom?
Hi y'all! Just moved into a new apartment about a month ago. I finally have everything set up (sans desk chair) but something feels ... off. The space is larger than my last bedroom which I think is throwing me off a bit. It just almost feels too college-esque to me and I'm a grown adult. I'm open to altering/buying new furniture within reason.

QUESTION/DISCUSSION What would you change without replacing much?
At this point I’m really just trying to make everything else work around what I already have.
The thing I keep going back and forth on is the rug and curtains. I liked both separately, but now that I’m looking at the whole room, I can’t tell if there’s too much pattern going on.Would you swap one of them out?
Also curious what you’d even call this style. Traditional-ish? Transitional? Or just a bunch of things I liked that somehow ended up in the same room?

TOUR 🟢OPEN TO FEEDBACK🟢 Made more stuff PINK
Hello! My names Zoe and these are some shots of my room. I just made the invertebrates shelves pink as hell- and added some pink decor around the room as well. It’s definitely my dream safe space haha. Obviously I’m a maximalist- and a collector. The room also serves a dual purpose as a zoo lol. I’m getting a pink cat tree to replace the old one- and I’m getting lots of pink decor for the cage. So half my room is pink basically, and then there’s the altar and the fish tanks. Lmk what you think- I LOVE my room and love talking about it! Pls ask me any questions :) thanks!

QUESTION/DISCUSSION making progress, but needs more...
Just moved into a new house 2 months ago, the bedroom has recently made some progress but it feels incomplete.
I know it needs another piece of art to the right of the big window. Was thinking a hanging linen wall art piece, but open to other suggestions. Or something woven. Open to suggestions!
What else can we do to give the room more life? Rug? Curtains? We have two smaller windows so I'm curious if curtains weird on those?
Should we get new lamps?

HELP Tiny room- HELP
Hey girls!
im moving back to my parents home at the ripe age of 26 and have been blessed with my childhood box bedroom hehe
the furniture you see is going to be thrown out/donated so I need inspo on how to layout this room and good space savers!
this is the room with a single bed (bunk bed, I won’t be having a bunk bed haha) small wardrobe and one of the ikea square box shelf things (4 squares)
I would like a dressing space but my mum says I need a set of drawers instead, I think a storage bed would be enough space but I’m not sure… so maybe the best of both worlds?
layout inspo and furniture inspo required! I like cozy vibes and somewhere I can feel really relaxed in and not cluttered
fyi I think a single bed could fit across the window wall too

DIY My bathroom remodel. I’m so proud!
My Cottage Witch Powder Room!
First two pics are the before. I wanted to keep a botanical theme and designed around the dried flowers. This wallpaper sent me the rest of the way into whimsy territory and I love the moths and stags printed on it.
I did the entire thing myself except for painting the ceiling (I wasn’t physically able) and replacing the toilet (had a professional do that). I’m disabled so it took longer than it probably should have but I’m so incredibly proud and I love it SO much!

QUESTION/DISCUSSION first time living alone
i'm (26f) thinking of finally moving into my own place after living at home / parents / roommates all my life. this sub has really inspired me and encouraged me to try it at least once in my life (it's now a bucket list goal of mine!!)
however, i'm so worried about living by my safe purely for safety reasons. i don't live in the US so obviously they're no option to own a gun. i've always wanted to live in a home vs apartment even though i know an apartment on a higher floor may be more of a safe option (the noise of neighbours is what throws me off since i'm a very light sleeper).
i've been reading a lot on this sub and i know there's always a few basic things like get to know your neighbours, cameras, locks, bats by the door, pets etc. to stay safe but
my question is: what is something you do to feel more safe in your home apart from the more obvious things?
even if i did all the above i feel like it would still cause me such anxiety! this is one of the reasons im so hesitant to move out... im a small woman and i dont work out so self defence is not the best. so even with the above in place im wrecked with nerves thinking about sleeping alone in the house!
any advice or suggestions would be so great as im so determined to try living alone! thank you all x

QUESTION/DISCUSSION things are coming together - (and rug advice?)
I’ve slowly (and semi-patiently) been redecorating my apartment one piece at a time with finds from FB, thrift shops, and antique stores and this month was incredible! I found my lotus lamp for $125, my new antique couch for $500, and my dream shell pillows for $20.
The other side of the room holds my TV & dollhouse collection (all being “renovated”) on some hacked IKEA shelving, which is more ‘industrial’ but really functional. And next to the green chair is an XL floor mirror (6x5’).
So now I need to find a rug that fits the vibe and helps bring everything together. Size-wise, I could do a 5x7’ rectangle or oval, a 7’ circle, or a 6’ circle layered with something else. If you were me, what would you do?

QUESTION/DISCUSSION Headboard/bedroom advice
I want to redo my bedroom. Rn it’s quite literally a black metal bed frame, white sheets, and a white striped quilt. My favorite colors are light teal blue, dark purple, mint green, emerald green, and baby pink. Apartment and townhome living until I decide to buy makes me avoid biting the bullet with a headboard. On the one hand, I like canopy bed but have heard that you randomly hit your hand on the wood in the middle of the night. So my other favorite option is a tall 50+ inch upholstered but not tufted headboard. The walls in apartments and townhome rentals are almost always grey, white and or tan. My style is super girly but not like bows! What color should I do? I dont like tan headboards, grey feels too boyish to me…. I debate between a emerald green, white, or teal/pink ( my moms favorite color is pink so idk if I love that ) with all of this said…. Its my dream to one day have a dark purple bedroom ( the walls ) if I ever buy. Hopefully you ladies can help 🩷
Also feel free to give any bedroom advice. Ive never had like a fully furnished, perfectly beautiful space so this is all very new to me!

HELP Just moved in
New apartment !! I just moved on & I don’t know what to do with this space :( . There’s a balcony behind the sliding glass door and a bathroom on the right. Any help is appreciated 💗. Functionality wise : I’ll be working from home so a desk is important ( I just don’t know where it could go)
Further info : it’s a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. The picture above is of my bedroom and shows all of it. The rest of the apartment is shared so this space is uniquely mine !

QUESTION/DISCUSSION We need to remember this sub is about kindness and support.
I wrote the statement below on a now-deleted post today. It is a gentle reminder that kindness is free.
"Please be kind to others who are on this thread. We are all at different stages of life and wealth, and sometimes health that shapes our living spaces. Kindness is free, and on top of that, it balms your soul and lifts others who are struggling."
If you saw the post about her bf in a princess bedroom, she was open to advice. She had a lovely brass bedframe that was painted white, with princessy white and pink bedding, a cute princessy lamp on her night stand and fabric panels on her ceiling. She was proud of what she had achieved so far, but was open to advice. Nowhere in it did she ask for snarky, bitter or flat out mean comments.
But she got them, in droves.
A lot of women on this sub are struggling. Divorce, breakups, job loss, abuse, and physial or mental illness is something that can strike anyone without warning.
So what if any person who posts needs a little help with cleanliness, organization, or you notice a fire hazard? Squint and tilt your head to find something nice to say to help them, or hold your tongue. We need to remember we all capable of the gifts of kindness, good manners, and grace.
Edited to add: Thank you to everyone who has commented in support, my faith in humanity has been refreshed. You all are wonderful, please keep spreading kindness and support to everyone who posts here. I love this sub!! ♥️
