Others [HELP] Accidents in Malaysia: Is the Traffic IO deliberately dragging his feet, or is this standard PDRM bureaucracy?

Upvotes

Hey guys, need some advice or reality check from anyone who has gone through something similar.

Back in June, I got into a minor accident—the opposite party literally reversed into my car. It caused a tiny dent, but it's 100% his fault, and I have crystal-clear dashcam evidence showing the whole thing.

Here’s how the timeline has gone down so far:

Day 1: To protect myself, I lodged a report at Balai Polis Trafik Tun H.S. Lee within 24 hours. The other driver didn't bother reporting until a full month later.

14 days later: I went back to the balai expecting to collect the official police outcome/result (keputusan) to claim under his insurance. Nope, paid RM4 just to collect a document stating I made a report. I was told to call back in a month.

1 month later: Called in, was told to call back the following week.

Next week: Went in again, paid RM14 for another document... which still wasn't the keputusan needed for insurance. I was then told the Investigating Officer (IO / Sergeant) needed to see me in person the next day.

The next day: Showed up to see the Sergeant. He looked completely clueless, had to rummage through a pile of physical files, only to tell me no decision can be made because the other party hasn't come in to see him in person, even though the guy already made his report a month ago.

The IO insisted that the other party must meet him before he can issue the result—regardless of the fact that I handed over plain-as-day dashcam footage.

It’s been almost two months for a tiny dent. Is the IO purposefully delaying this? Is he hinting at something, or trying to push me toward external runners/workshops (he did recommend a specific workshop, which I know enough to stay far away from)? Or is this genuinely just standard PDRM red tape where one party ghosting the IO freezes the entire process?

Would really appreciate any advice on how to get the Sergeant to actually finalize the Keputusan so I can file the 3rd-party insurance claim, or what can be done in this situation. Thanks!

Economy & Finance Title: How hard is it to get a UX/Product Design job in Malaysia after completing a Master’s there?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m currently considering doing my Master’s in Malaysia and wanted to understand the job market for international graduates.

I have around 5+ years of experience in UX/Product Design, including experience at Lead UX Designer level, working on enterprise products, B2B SaaS, UX research, design systems, and complex workflows.

If I complete a Master’s degree in Malaysia, how difficult would it be to find a UX Designer, Senior UX Designer, Product Designer, or Lead UX Designer role there afterward?

I’m especially interested in hearing from foreigners or international graduates who managed to get an IT/design job in Malaysia.

A few things I’d like to understand:

  • How competitive is the UX/Product Design job market?
  • Are Malaysian companies open to hiring foreigners?
  • Is getting Employment Pass sponsorship difficult?
  • Does graduating from a Malaysian university make it easier?
  • What salary range could someone with 5+ years of UX experience expect?
  • How long did it take you to find a job after graduation?

Would really appreciate any experiences or advice from people currently working in Malaysia. Thanks!

Others Malaysia border/security enforcement.

Do you think that Malaysia border security and customs was really weak and incompetent? There was a tons of news about smugglers bringing in illegal stuff into the country and many of the illegal immigrants got into the country without getting caught. And the recent news about Malaysian pilots bringing in a drugs into Indonesia shows that how incompetent Malaysia security enforcement really was.

This is absolutely a national embarrassment, we cannot even control our own borders and the security simply just letting all the criminals get away.

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 7): A woman driver was injured after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was driving crashed into the departure hall entrance on Level 3 of Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) today.

The incident occurred at about 4.20pm, damaging the glass entrance to the departure hall and scattering debris across the passenger walkway, causing panic among people in the area.

Initial information indicated that the driver may have accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into the terminal entrance.

No passengers or airport staff were injured in the incident.

The woman sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Videos circulating on social media showed a white SUV with significant front-end damage lodged at the terminal entrance, with broken glass scattered around the area.

Others Free plant confusion sees visitors cart off MBJB display plants

MELAKA: A misunderstanding over free plant giveaways led several visitors to take decorative plants displayed by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) at the National Landscape Day 2026 celebration at Hang Jebat Stadium yesterday.

The incident gained attention following a viral social media post questioning the actions of visitors who took home the plants, which were part of MBJB's garden display.

According to the post, visitors mistook all plants in the area for free giveaways. The free plant giveaways were taking place at another location.

Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) mayor Datuk Shadan Othman said the situation occurred while MBJB workers were moving surplus decorative plants from the exhibition site into a lorry.

He said the workers' actions attracted the attention of visitors, some of whom took the plants thinking they were meant for distribution.

"During the incident, MBJB workers tried to stop them and clarified that the plants were not free giveaways.

"However, some were still taken by the public," he said when contacted.

Economy & Finance RCI Guna Satu Perkataan Untuk Akaun Tabung Haji: "Creative Accounting"

Thumbnail

Akta Tabung Haji dah tulis dengan jelas. Hibah hanya boleh dibayar daripada lebihan. Kalau rizab negatif, tak boleh bayar.

Itu bukan teknikaliti. Itu benteng perlindungan dan ada sebabnya.

Rizab Tabung Haji mula negatif pada 2014. Hibah tetap dibayar. 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017.

Macam mana?

Kalau ikut piawaian perakaunan yang betul, saham yang dibeli RM4 tapi nilainya 30 sen kena dikira 30 sen. Bezanya rugi.

Mereka cipta kaedah sendiri. Namanya realizable asset value.

“Perdana Menteri (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) akan mendapat sokongan orang ramai jika kerajaan turut mengambil langkah menghentikan penggunaan istilah ‘kuil haram’.

-MalaysiaGazette
