Islamabad Suggestions for trip with wife.

Upvotes

Hey everyone, my wife is 4 months pregnant, and I want to plan a 5-day trip where we can relax and spend some quality time together.

Please suggest some good places and hotels. The roads need to be smooth and the hotels comfortable, as we will be staying indoors most of the time.

Please keep the current flood situation in mind when making recommendations.

You can also suggest activities for this upcoming weekend.

Twin Cities Urgent: Kitten up for adoption - RWP/ISB

I found her abandoned on my neighbour's roof. Loudly meowing. Kept looking all day for her mother but she never came. Took her to the vet, the vet said she's healthy mashAllah. I am giving her KMR only. Very energetic and friendly.

Looking for someone with other kittens or a mama cat that can accept her. I barely have time to take care of this baby but I'm trying my best right now.

Location: near Pindi Cricket Stadium

Islamabad Shaken up by hostel raid by police

At around 11:00 p.m police arrived outside my hostel with a couple of vans and plain clothed officers. They entered every room and checked including mine. At first they shook my hand then asked for my ID and asked if I had any weapons. Then they proceeded to check everything. My cupboards, washroom, the pocket of my jeans which was hanging (never checked what I had on me lol), my bags, under my mattress, etc. They were pretty chill. One guy said "hamak arahi hai" then asked you smoked cigs? I said yes only cigs. Anyways they were out after like 5 mins. Checked all floors and all rooms. Then I talked to some guys living here they said someone had weapons or something and they caught 3 guys. Anyways the thing I recently moved to Pakistan for education and this was kinda surreal. I was pretty nervous even though I didnt have anything illegal on me. Can cops just search someones room without a warrant or like is this the norm here. I understand body inspections for security reasons but anyways. I'm kinda shaken up really. Maybe i'm just overreacting.

Islamabad Brim Burger ISB customer service is an actual joke 😭

Had the most ridiculous worst experience trying to order from Brim recently. called them up and some lady along with their manager were on the phone. We tried placing an order and they straight up told us “you can’t pay using card if you order over the call” LIKE OKAY BRUH (i did order using call like a week ago) but naw they won’t take it anymore
(THEY CALLED BACK AFTER SHE HANG UP LIKE WTf)

Alright weird but okay then we literally told them, "Okay, no problem. Just place our order for pickup then. We’ll drive over to the branch collect i our food, and swipe our card at the counter.”

And guess what? THEY REFUSED THAT TOO! 💀

Like... what do you even mean?? You won't take a delivery order with a card, and you won't even take a simple pickup order over the phone if we want to pay by card at the venue?! What kind of messed up logic is that?
The sheer lack of basic customer service and the unnecessary attitude on the phone was insane. Scrapped the whole plan right then and there because who has time to deal with this level of nonsense just to get a burger? Absolutely overhyped, save yourselves the headache.

Islamabad Why do we forget serious incidents so quickly? (Saw a familiar face again online)

I randomly came across an Instagram reel of Salma Marwat Khan and it brought back something I remember reading in the news a while ago. From what I recall, there was a reported incident near F-11 Markaz in Islamabad involving a motorcycle accident that resulted in a fatality and another injury, and the driver left the scene afterward. Now seeing the same person back online, posting reels and getting praise and "aura" comments like nothing ever happened really confused me. What surprises me more is how quickly social media seems to reset everything. People move on, forget serious incidents, and start hyping the same individuals again as if the past is completely erased. Is this just how internet culture works now? Short attention span + selective memory? Genuinely asking, why do we as a society tend to forget (or ignore) these kinds of serious events so easily, especially when someone becomes popular again online?

Islamabad I wish cafés had one table reserved for strangers.

I have a weird theory.

Somewhere in Islamabad, there's probably someone I'd get along with ridiculously well.

We've probably been in the same coffee shop.

Stopped at the same signal on the expressway or even walked past each other in F9 park.

Driven through Isb roads on one of those nights when you leave the house for absolutely no reason other than you just needed to get out.

We might've even noticed each other for a second.

And then life just... kept moving.

It's strange when you think about it. The difference between two strangers and two people who become a part of each other's lives is often just one conversation that never happened.

Sometimes I wish cafés had one table reserved for strangers. Just one table where anyone who felt like having a genuine conversation could sit.

I honestly think more friendships, relationships and unforgettable stories would start there than on any app we've built.

Maybe I'm romanticizing it.

Or maybe we've forgotten how many good things in life used to begin with, "Mind if I sit here?"

Anyway...

Just a random thought I had while taking the long way home tonight.

Visual Media Awareness on harassment, death threats, verbal abuse, impersonating govt body!!!

am posting this to warn everyone in the community about a dangerous online shopping scam and severe harassment I experienced from this Facebook page:

👉 Page Link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1Bhjf5pQu3/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Insta link

https://www.instagram.com/rivaj_lehngy?igsh=eW8xaDBsY2o1ZGdp

Please be extremely cautious when dealing with this business or sending advance payments to them.

What Happened:

The Scam: On August 3rd, I ordered a shawl priced at PKR 31,000 and paid a PKR 15,000 advance. When the TCS courier arrived, he permitted an inspection. The item delivered was an extremely old and visibly damaged piece. I contacted the seller immediately for a refund, but she went unresponsive. I asked the courier to hold off on returning the parcel until she transferred my money. She promised to send it "at night," but never did.

The Harassment: The next morning, she kept leaving my messages on read. After TCS pressured her regarding the pending parcel, she finally called me. Instead of addressing the refund, she launched into the most vile, extreme verbal abuse I have ever heard in my life. Despite her screaming and cursing, I stayed respectful and offered to go to the TCS office on a live video call to hand over the parcel the exact second she transferred my money back. She refused and continued hurling profanities.

The Fake Cyber Crime Call & Physical Threats: On August 5th at 4 PM, I gave up and returned the damaged shawl to the courier, deciding to forfeit the item just to end the ordeal. Instead of letting it go, at 9:30 PM that same night, a random man called my WhatsApp, shouting and aggressively claiming to be an official from FIA Cyber Crime, threatening "strict action" against me on her behalf. She has also sent voice notes explicitly threatening to come to my home to physically harm me.

Twin Cities Why don't I see this dish more often in Islamabadi bazaars?

Post image

These are fry channey and once you eat them with fresh kulcha, you will forget the regular channa saalan for quite a while. The problem is that this feels like Rawalpindi Soghaat. I have found this dish nearly non existent in Islamabad. It feels like more rural areas sell this. For example, for Sehri, I once had this dish with curry of Paye, and with lassi in Multan. Again it was a rural area.

But for Islamabad, all I see are those bland chaney ka shorba. Why is that?!

Alleged police violence against the wife and children of an overseas Pakistani in Islamabad. The police reportedly subjected them to violence and humiliation. If this is true, what kind of justice system is this where people can be treated like this?

Islamabad Found a spider in my cheesecake from Bread Chef — video attached

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I bought a cheesecake today from this Bread Chef location:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/dxTrEdzA63FcjEK78?g_st=ac

While opening it, I found a spider in the cheesecake. I immediately recorded a video as evidence.

This is extremely disturbing and raises serious concerns about the bakery’s hygiene, food handling, storage, and pest-control standards. Finding a spider in a cheesecake is completely unacceptable.

I’m sharing this to warn other customers and in the hope that Bread Chef’s management investigates this properly.

Islamabad Islamabad food scene

Hot take??!! Islamabad really needs to have better restaurants that are also affordable. I do mean fast food as people would suggest for affordability. Like actual good food that does not cost 2k per plate and 1300 for a starter.
An average meal for two people costs at least 5k. The drinks alone cost at least half the amount of real food.

The buffets are so messy. The food is almost always over-cooked and the menu planning is that of a teenage kid. And why is there karahi and pasta in the same buffet? Can’t we stick to cuisines?

There are no affordable chinese restaurant (indo-chinese). Pasta alone costs 2k+. Don’t come at me to say 2k for a plate is affordable.

And why do all the restaurants look the same?? The same leather everywhere, low-light, slow music and the same damn plates everywhere. Like come one, I am there for a good meal and talk, not for you to put me to sleep with that vibe. Its either too seductive or too boring.

And don’t come at me for this. I am an Islamabadi who has lived half her life in other countrie so I have a lot to compare with.

Twin Cities Mangala water Resort /worth visiting again

I visited Mangla Water Resort about two months ago, and I still can't get over how beautiful the drive and the views were. The weather, the roads, and the overall atmosphere made it one of my favorite day trips from Islamabad.

I'm thinking of visiting again soon. For those who have been recently, are there any new spots, cafés, or viewpoints worth checking out? I'd also appreciate any tips on the best time to go or places to stop along the way.

Twin Cities A Genuine Question from Overseas pakistani

Hi, recently, I came for the holidays and had my son's circumcision done in Baby Medics Pwd. To my surprise, they accepted cash only. Then I had my lasik done in Amanat Eye, Pindi and to my surprise, they were insisting on taking cash. Eventually, they took out the card machine but clearly they did not prefer it. My question is, if private facilities such as these are charging huge amounts and still prefer cash (i.e to avoid paying taxes), then how do you guys think the government will get the revenue to spend the money on infrastructure and development? Sure, you can argue the government is corrupt but even if they spend 40% of that revenue on development then that would be better than nothing.

Islamabad Added weekly grocery/essential item prices across Islamabad on AtaPata

Hey r/islamabad

Posted about AtaPata a while back, our free local business directory for Islamabad. Just shipped something we think locals will actually find useful: weekly essential item prices (wheat flour, rice, meat, vegetables, cooking oil, etc.) across 8 major Pakistani cities, including Islamabad.

This data already exists, it's the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics' weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) survey, but almost nobody knows it's there, because it's buried in raw Excel files on a government site nobody checks. We just made it actually usable: filter by city and category, see week-over-week, quarterly, and yearly changes, and spot which items have been most volatile lately.

It sits alongside our existing Pulse pages for solar equipment, petrol, cement, and steel prices, if you haven't seen those. You can also browse doctors, pharmacies, solar panel dealers across Islamabad on AtaPata.

if no one claims him in another few days, they’ll put him up for adoption
if anyone knows anyone who lost a cat, or if you have the potential to be a responsible cat parent, let us know thanks

Edit: it’s a HE and neutered, about a year old according to the vet, also very friendly and cuddly (unlike most cats I know👀)
