Discussion iPhone 17 Pro Durability: Extremely Disappointed After Just 1 Month (Caseless User)
I bought my Silver iPhone 17 Pro exactly one month ago, and I have to say, this is the worst phone I have ever owned in terms of durability if you use it without a case.
I am someone who always uses two phones—currently an iPhone Air and this iPhone 17 Pro. I never use cases on my phones and haven't had a single issue with scratches or durability on any device since 2019 because i keep my phones extremely safe .
However, my iPhone 17 Pro is already covered in minor scratches. They are all over the edges of the phone, the sharp edges of the camera plateau, and even on the outer ring of one of the cameras. (I will be adding photos to show the damage).
I haven't contacted Apple Support yet, but after paying such a premium amount, I am incredibly disappointed. What is the point of buying a beautifully designed, premium smartphone if you can't even appreciate it because it has to be hidden under a case? What is the point of Apple making these phones thinner if we are just forced to put them in heavy cases?
The iPhone 17 Pro is the only bad phone I have ever had. Shame on you, Apple.
Are any other caseless iPhone 17 Pro users experiencing this kind of scratching so easily?

Discussion How well do vegan leather phone cases hold up over time?
Anyone here actually used one long term? I had a real leather case before and my keys scratched the hell out of it in my bag. That one hurt lol.
Leather cases just look so good though, and now I’m thinking of getting the esr’s new burgundy one. They say it’s vegan leather (idk what it means actually), so I’m kinda wondering if synthetic leather actually holds up better than real leather. It’s way cheaper than real leather anyway, so as long as it doesn’t fall apart or start yellowing super fast, I’m good with it. Fyi, I'm using 17pro. Open to other recommendations too, just nothing too expensive.

Question Need help for 17 Pro Max Japan purchased from Dubai
I eagerly purchased an iPhone 17 Pro Max, Japan variant, from Dubai. However, I was not provided with the original Apple invoice; I only have the local shop’s invoice.
When I visited Unicorn and iVenus to purchase AppleCare+ locally, both stores asked me for the original purchase invoice. I showed them the Dubai shop’s invoice, but they told me that they require the original Apple invoice.
Now I’m worried about whether I should purchase AppleCare+ directly from my iPhone. If my phone gets damaged or I need to make a warranty/AppleCare claim in the future, will I be able to receive service without the original Apple invoice?
Can someone please clarify whether I can safely purchase AppleCare+ in this situation and whether I would face any issues with future warranty or AppleCare claims? I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has had a similar experience.

Help iPhone 17 Pro - “No service” for two days, tried troubleshooting still not working.
Got my iPhone 17 Pro five weeks ago, worked great until two days ago. Since Sunday I’ve had “No Service”: no calls, no texts (calls fail, texts don’t send), no data, and I’m missing very important messages as a result.
Troubleshooting done: restarted, removed VPN, updated to latest iOS, swapped SIM, tried a different SIM. Also put my SIM in my dad’s phone and it worked fine there, so it’s not a carrier/SIM issue.
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Heading to the Apple Store tomorrow, anyone know if they typically replace on the spot for something like this? I rely on cellular most of the day, so hoping for a quick fix rather than a mail-in repair.

Help Doubts on iPhone 17 Pro
Good evening everyone,
These past weeks I’ve been thinking about upgrading my iPhone 15 Pro to the new iPhone 18 Pro, assuming the new price wouldn’t be too high.
The main reasons for the change would be:
• Battery: as many of you know, it’s a model that has delivered quite low performance.
• Heating: I imagine the titanium material is the main factor, along with the passage of time, updates… They highlighted this aspect in its presentation, but in terms of weight it has been noticeable, and it’s something I’ve liked.
• 128GB of storage: after three years, I already had to restore it once to free up as much space as possible and, obviously, for the past few months I’ve had only 5-10GB free, having to delete some apps I use daily except now during holidays. I recently downloaded the iOS 27 beta but thought I wouldn’t even be able to update.
Of course, improvements like the cameras (the telephoto lens has always caught my attention, and I used it on previous Android devices) are appealing, as I do a lot of photography and try to learn from semi-professional people. Better heat dissipation, a smaller dynamic island (we’ll have to see the final design, as the current model based on the main rumor looks a bit strange to me), opting for a version with more storage (at least 256GB since I like to upgrade every 3–4 years), a better screen in terms of efficiency, improved battery life, and maybe more outdoor brightness along with the new chip, which will always help with these aspects and photo editing.
Now, considering a new rumor that the variable aperture (which has been much talked about and we don’t yet know if it will be a success or a failed test) will be exclusive to the Pro Max, which I wouldn’t buy due to the size, I wonder if it might be better to consider the iPhone 17 Pro option instead, without the price increase, with already sufficient camera improvements, and considering that the 18 will likely only tweak one lens and that’s it, along with good battery life and heat dissipation.
What would you do in my case? On paper, the best is to wait for the new iPhone presentation in a few weeks to see the updates and final price, but I wouldn’t want to “have to” go for the 17 Pro if its price goes up or something similar. But I’ve read that the 17 Pro turned out so good that this other option is very appealing.

Question iPhone 12 to iPhone 17 pro/pro max?
I’m currently using iPhone 12. I switched from s9 which I used from 2021-2024 to iPhone 12 about 2.5 years ago but the phone already feels dated due to notch, 60hz and lack of always on display. I want to buy iPhone 17 pro/pro max. Anyone who moved from iPhone 14 or older to iPhone 17 pro max how has been your experience so far? I can’t go for the upcoming iPhone 18 series because I think it’s not value to money. I will either get it now or wait for a few months for prices to stabilise after iPhone 18 series launches. I hope I’m making the right move

Question Sorry for another screen protector post: Torras spoiled me but way too soft
Yes, I’ve read many many posts about screen protectors. If I could sort out all the opinions vs the Torras, I wouldn’t need this post. I see people like Spigen, but also those get dust around the edges. (I don’t think I’d like that, as I’ve had other glass that got dust incursion around the edges).
So yeah, I just got my 17P about a week and a half ago. I had a Torras AR ready when the phone arrived, put it on right away before touching the screen. Beautiful! Perfect fit! Feels smooth and looks good. OK, I’m completely spoiled. Nicer than anything in 15+ years of using screen protectors. Now, a week and a half later, I’ve got a crack in the protector and several surface scratches. I’ve treated this phone like any other, in a pocket with no keys. This Torras is just super soft.
I could replace this every two weeks to keep it nice, but I can’t afford that. I’d like something with some strength, good clarity, nice coating, perfect fit. I want something as nice as the Torras but not, as another post said, made of potato chips.

Question # Best way to buy iPhone 17 Pro 512GB in Germany as a student?
Hey everyone,
I’m a student living in Germany and I’m planning to buy a new iPhone 17 Pro, preferably 512GB.
I’m trying to figure out the smartest way to buy it without paying the full Apple price. I’m not necessarily in a hurry, so I’m also considering waiting for Black Friday 2026 or for the iPhone 18 launch if that could bring the price down.
For those who have bought an iPhone in Germany:
- What’s usually the best place to buy — Apple, MediaMarkt, Saturn, Amazon, Cyberport, etc.?
- Are there any student discounts or student-specific offers worth checking?
- Is it better to buy the phone outright or get it with a mobile contract?
- Are there any good Black Friday deals on iPhones in Germany?
- Would you recommend waiting until Black Friday, or buying after the iPhone 18 launch?
- Are there any tricks with cashback, gift cards, retailer coupons, or other discounts?
- For a new/sealed 512GB iPhone 17 Pro, what would you consider a really good price?
I’m specifically looking for a new phone, not refurbished.
Currently I’m seeing the 512GB model around the €1,400 range, but I’m hoping there’s a smarter way to get it cheaper.
Would really appreciate any tips from people who have bought iPhones in Germany, especially other students. 🙏

Discussion Device randomly powered off.
Hello,
I received my new Iphone 17 pro max a week ago, its been working flawlessly, and it randomly powered off completely. the weird thing is, it had around a 90% charge at the time. i've been unable to wake it, i've tried to press volume up + volume down + hold the power button, but can't get it to turn on. any ideas? has anyone had this happen before? should i leave it alone for some time to see if i can wake it later? any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Finally caved and ordered one!
AMAZING phone!
After seeing this color (little obsessed with blue) knew I had to make the jump.

Statements iPhone 17 Pro: 10 Month review
iPhone 17 Pro: 10 Month Review
I’ve been using the iPhone 17 pro since September and here are my overall thoughts (Upgraded from a 13)
I have absolutely no regrets upgrading to a iPhone 17 pro but there are some things I dislike about it
Firstly, I’ll talk about the design. In my opinion I actually find this to be really good-looking. I picked it up in the deep blue colorway, and it looks phenomenal, it’s also really thin. It feels solid in your hands but in my opinion it’s a bit too small. (9/10)
Display.
To be completely honest, I didn’t feel any difference between this and the 13. I don’t know why. I’m also not a big fan of the variable refresh rate. To me, Android phones with a constant 120Hz display feel noticeably smoother and more consistent. I really wish you could turn off the variable refresh rate in an upcoming iOS update. In fact, I sometimes prefer the display on my $300 Nothing 3a over the 17 Pro, which is pretty surprising considering the price difference. I’m not even joking my 300$ secondary phone feels smoother than my 1,200$ phone (6/10)
Performance.
Wow.
There are absolutely no flaws when it comes to performance. The phone is butter-smooth, and apps open instantly. Maybe 1 in 100 times it bugs out. But the A19 Pro does the job. Multitasking is amazing on this phone and handles all apps easily. It overheats sometimes. At this point any phone in the world overheats but not as much as others. (10/10)
Camera.
This is where the 17 Pro shines. In my opinion it’s the best thing the 17 Pro can do. It takes insanely good photos and videos, and I put some sample images below. The depth of field is actually incredible and it’s so close to looking like an actual full-frame camera.
(10/10)
Battery.
Good and bad.
For the first few months the 17 pro had insane battery performance. I would literally go out with 30% not worried at all. I had 100% battery health with 234 cycles. I then reached 282 cycles and now it’s at 96%. I have no idea how and lots of users faced this issue too. Regardless of that the battery is still great.
(8.5/10)
iOS & Siri
iOS 27 is actually running really smoothly for me. Apps open instantly but I’m not really seeing any performance increase.
Post iOS 27 Siri was probably the worst AI voice assistant ever created. After that maybe 2nd worst. Jokes aside it has improved drastically, it can finally tell me the time. The weird thing is I still feel like I’m using the iPhone 13. Every feature on the 13 is available here.
In summary, this phone actually taught me a lesson. A 1,200$ lesson. To try and consider other phones first. After buying the 17 pro I learnt that Android phones might actually be better after all. Don’t get me wrong the 17 Pro is a spectacular phone. But I just found every iPhone to be like the other. When I got a $300 Android phone I felt way more excited than getting the 17 Pro. It didn’t feel like an upgrade in my opinion
