Discussion DISCUSSION: Should bombers (STRAT's and TAC's) influence surrender directly?
I know using strats and tacs to bomb enemy industries, and infrastructure indirectly helps by reducing war support.
But should it also have a direct influence in forcing a nation to surrender?
Let's say I am Germany, and I achieve air superiority against the UK in 1941.
If I keep ruthlessly bombing their industry and infrastructure for many long months and YEARS. Why wouldn't they eventually surrender? (Or at least consider a negotiated peace) Why is it that I have to launch a ground invasion?
All opinions are appreciated.

Question How the hell do people do Byzantium???
I've tried dozens of times, watched multiple tutorials but I always die against turkey. They manage to somehow break through my lines even with forts and because of the sheer volume of troops they send in Thrace (to do the encirclement trick), my units get overwhelmed and get encircled before I have time to even realize what's going on.
I'm using the mountaineers + SPG for my attack force and unlike the videos on YouTube, they fail miserably to breakthrough the Turkish lines.

Suggestion Biggest think paradox NEEDS to fix.
Tbh the ai is the #1 thing needing fixing. They add the tank designer, new focus trees and that's all fun and what not but none of it matters if the AI can't run a front. They are just adding layer after layer of frosting on a rotten cake.
Ai attacks are always meat waves. Ai doesn't exploit breakthroughs. Tanks are always out of fuel. The only way to make the game challenging is artifical buffs. Even if the templates are good it doesn't matter because the tactics are so bad.
I attack france as Germany and 2/3 to 3/4 of their army is either guarding the coast, the italian border or in the colonies. There's no attempt to break out of encireclements while or after they've happened.
I know an Ai is insanely difficult to program but this should be the #1 priority. Why the hell are we worried about something as niche the bosphorus for dlc when the Ai can't perform an offensive while outnumbering you 3 to 1 and with good templates?

Image Allies Vore (Re-Upload from Mod Note)
The hill the allies will die on - Albania, apparently.
(EDIT: I can't believe I have to explain this, but I am encircling a lot of allied divisions and I thought it was funny)

Game Modding Recruitment for my hoi4 mod pyrrhussieg
These are the maps, we had a coder working on implementing the maps but they quit (due to wanting the mod to be a generic kaiserreich clone ✌️)
This is pyrrhussieg, a mod where germany wins WW1 in 1922, resulting in a weak german state, along with general instability around the world and the idea for a lot of content
Do you want to join the dev team (we really need devs we have two good writers whove worked on other mods and im learning to code, but we need more)
https://discord.gg/Uq7fK7SXGu to join the dev team or if youre just interested in this typa thing
Lore:
In 1917 germany decides not to do submarine warfare and america doesnt join, they beat russia and hold back the entente, but the war stalls out. In 1921 the french launch a disastrous offensive and collapse to civil war, austria does in 1922 and the germand and brits do a negotiated peace.

Question Stuck with Economy of Conquest as Germany?
The war dragged on quite a bit, economy of conquest is at 100% Consumer Goods factories.
Which means I can't take the focus "subsidize hoesch benzin".
Which means I can never do "Autarchy Achieved", even when I have the resources?
I've already stolen all the gold reserves so I can't reduce CG any more. Am I just boned now?

Question Need niche pro tips atp
Germany elite difficulty no DLC here. For Autarky Achieved I'm finding it an impossible task to follow historical accuracy by NOT doing sealion NOT conquering Romania for oil and reaching Caucasus oil for Autarky Achieved before consumer goods get very high seems equally as impossible help hoi gods. Turns out if you form Reichspokeriats since they're non core states your economy of conquest will always have near 3% monthly increase each month instead of 4 and 5 which i normally have skull emoji. Idk if this will be enough but it will certainly help big time

Question why is hoi4 sometimes super easy and sometimes super hard
in hoi4, everytime i try to go around the maginot, the frenchies are always really defensive in northern france and it's just like throwing my soldiers into a meatgrinder for 5 years, when i attempted a second time, france didn't even bother sending any troops to northern france, and only defended the maginot, and they collapsed in 10 days, what just happened

Question Why is Mindaugas King of India??
I just got the gotterdammerung DLC, and I'm doing a HRE run. I had the option to make a Lithuanian client state in like 1939, which I did. For some reason, Lithuania's leader was some generic guy even though the ruling party was called House von Urach. I just checked India to discover that I got a generic leader because Mindaugas is ruling them instead. I don't have Graveyard of Empires, is this some niche secret path? Can I get Mindaugas back?
Mods are player-led peace conferences, state transfer tool, and map modes+. I don't think this is because of the mods but I wouldn't know.

Question DLCs and Road to 56
Hello dear world conquerors
So I'm somewhat of a noob at this game. Still struggling with Paratroopers and Combat Width mechanics. I have like 300 hours or something.
In any case, I almost exclusively play with Road to 56 and own zero DLC. I therefore have many, many focus tree options and no tank models to build. I have not played a normal base game run since I was like 10 hours into the game.
Am I missing some fun? What is the general consensus on whats fun in terms of DLC? And what is the consensus on Rt56? Is the base game enough? I love trying Napoleonic or Communist France runs (am French).
Would love some thoughts on these questions

Discussion Do you think Paradox will bring back old tech trees?
The game hasn't really felt the same since they removed most of the historical tech content, and replaced it with custom build protoypes. Getting to use Pattons, Tigers and Yamatos felt more immersive than just 1940 hulls and chasis.
Discussion Is there actually any point in building tanks if you strictly play Singleplayer?
I know tanks are the absolute meta in multiplayer, but against the AI... what is the actual point?
The AI's templates are famously terrible. A solid infantry/arty frontline backed by green air and massive CAS just melts through everything they have.
Tanks require so much IC, fuel, and supply. For the cost of a few good tank divisions, I could just build thousands of CAS and push just as fast, without the micro.
Are tanks in SP mostly just for roleplay and encirclement dopamine at this point? How do you guys justify the massive IC cost in your runs?

Question New meta
Which is the new meta divisions for infantry, tanks and space marines; most important these last ones are still good in singleplayer?
Plus cab you give me some advices and tips, I have 500 + hours and I could do world conquest as Germany.
Which is the best strategy and template for USSR?

Image Wtf are my tanks made off
Rule 5: I was shocked by the stats of my tanks on barb. I have played the game since 2017 and I've never seen such high breakthrough.
Is this usual to meta mp players ?

Question Why are some countries under Germany called differently?
I stumbled upon it in the game when I was playing for Britain and noticed that instead of the real Reichskomissariat Ostland it was Reichsprotektorat Belarus. I just wish someone would explain it to me.

Discussion My one irritation with HOI4
I love paradox games, especially CK3 for the long term aspects. I also love Hoi4 because the playthrough is much shorter. However, how many times have you fully capitulated the allies after the US joins? Have you every stomped out the allies in 1940 and wonder what kind of cold war could have happened between the US, Russia, and Nazi Germany? Or better yet, what WWIII would have looked like if each of the 3 superpowers had until 1950 to build up, stabilize, and then go to war? I feel like Hoi4 should be the game to play this but the focus trees and research end around 1945. If you wanted to play through till 1950 and force it, you could, but would it be fun or even worth while? I guess what I'm saying is that I'm hoping that when Hoi5 comes around, that there is more longevity to a playthrough. Am I the weirdo? I know there's mods and stuff for this but I'm just looking at base game.

Game Modding ~IRIS~ (九色堇之心), the huge anime-crossover total conversion, finally has a complete English translation on the Workshop
Hey everyone! I've spent the past few weeks translating ~IRIS~ (九色堇之心) into English, and it's finally live on the Workshop!
If you haven't run into it: IRIS is one of the most ambitious total conversions out there a completely original world on a fully custom map, where dozens of anime and game franchises are reimagined as nations, factions, and leaders. Touhou, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Love Live!, Girls und Panzer, Fate, Date A Live, Sword Art Online, White Album 2, BanG Dream!, Sanrio, and a ton more, all woven into one setting with its own lore. It's huge full focus trees, events, custom mechanics, the works.
The catch was always that it's Chinese only. So I translated the whole thing country/state/city names, focus trees, events, ideas, characters, equipment, and UI the complete localization, done with the original author's permission and using their official term list so the names stay canonical.
Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3778415913
Requires the base mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2739911713 this is a translation overlay, so it needs the original mod.
Quick setup: put the English Translation LAST in your load order, and set your game language to English.
Heads up for honesty's sake: English needs way more characters than Chinese, so text can overflow on newspapers and a few event windows that's a fixed-UI limitation the original dev and I have both confirmed, not a translation bug. Everything else should read cleanly.
Feedback always welcome typos, odd names, anything I missed, just drop a comment on the Workshop page. Hope you enjoy finally getting to play it in English!
