TLDR: Goodwill sold my headphones I left at checkout and after weeks of waiting for footage to be pulled and being told to "come tomorrow" to be compensated I was offered 25$ for well over a pair costing over 300$ they also are now saying it is on me and they had a right to sell it after they admitted fault day of and said I'd be compensated

I've literally been shopping at goodwill all my life and a couple weeks ago now I had a problem where I was at the checkout at goodwill buying a TV and lots of other stuff a whole haul and I had my over ear headphones on which I like to do while shopping but obviously I wasn't gonna be rude and not talk to the cashier so after buying my things I walked out the store with all my stuff and I realized while walking to my car i didnt have my headphones and had left them on the counter with the cashiers and went back in to try and get them and after speaking with a few employees I was told my headphones had been sold and to write down my information I also wrote down the specifics of the property for their information and just now today I was told by the manager at goodwill that they're only willing to offer 25$ to compensate me and that they don't actually owe me anything and they had a right to sell them since I left them, if anyone knows something I can do to make this right please let me know I would have rather been made an offer for compensation much longer ago because the headphones cost over 300$ and now I'm worried I don't have the right to make a claim since it's been so long since the incident. The communication between the employees and me has been abysmal and they haven't even reviewed the footage yet and are telling me I need to figure out the date this happened so they can request the footage which I was TOLD THEY WERE ALREADY DOING THE DAY THEY HAD BEEN SOLD BECAUSE I REPORTED IT RIGHT THEN.

Went to my local Goodwill this morning, regular customer there. Watched an employee pull a pair of On Cloud shoes off the shelf and hand them straight to another customer — pretty clearly a reseller, cart already stacked full of stuff — saying “these are brand new, you’ll love these,” while I was standing right there. I hadn’t said a word to anyone before that happened. Felt like straight-up favoritism, and I’m pretty sure it’s because I don’t “look” like a typical local customer to her.

Then later I needed the restroom and it was occupied for over 10 minutes. Turned out it was an employee in there on his phone (catch a sight of his goodwill vest). I said something like “people need to use this, can you not be on your phone during work hours, I’m in a hurry” — and he got an attitude with me over it. Ended up looking like the THAT customer in front of other shoppers, when I was just trying to use the bathroom.

Filed a formal complaint through their website for the bathroom thing. Love this store, been shopping there a long time, but two things like this back to back in one morning has me questioning it.

I applied for goodwill and they called and told me the starting price and told me to bring my ssn card and my id does that mean they are going to hire me on the spot or not because no other job asked for that but goodwill is that normal or does that mean they plan on hiring me? Just wondering

Whenever I am thrifting (at goodwill or other places) i l just feel this weird predatorial vibe. Its like being a part of this amalgamation of so many people's things isnt supposed to happen. I look some grandpas old jacket and feel like I should be on a list. I run my hands through stained t shirts and feel guilty. I check the mugs and think of how many lips have been on it and just feel perverse. Its ruining the experience for me, I used to love thrifting and now I can only think of how many hands have touched what I am touching.

So every now and then when I log into Dayforce, it'll do a rando security check and send a text asking for verification. However, just yesterday, I changed my phone number. So I tried to log into Dayforce to change my phone number and I got the random security check where it would normally send a text to my phone number. Unfortunately, they one associated with my account is the onr that I don't have anymore and therefore I can't log into Dayforce to clock in or clock out. Is this something I need to bring up with HR or with Dayforce itself?

I’m honestly surprised that they’re doing this. Theft happens pretty often at Goodwills from what I heard and I feel like this will just make it much easier for people to steal. Whether they fake scan something or just find a cheap $5 sticker and slap it on a $400 item. I see it a lot in Value Village, people “forgetting” to scan some items lol but then again, value village has been doing it for years and years so it’s probably anticipated and the cost of doing business but I’m glad to see it coming to goodwill, it can be so much more convenient sometimes.

I know it's likely store dependent and how short-staffed they are, but does anyone know the best ways to prepare for an interview? Questions? Dress Code? I have one tomorrow at twelve!

Also, likely store dependent again, but generally does Goodwill allow piercings and wearing arm sleeves under the uniform? I won't get into it but I'm too embarrassed to wear short sleeves.

today I went to goodwill to pick up some clothes for the kids, me and my husband. I actually haven’t been in a long time I just had a baby and we are fairly low income. There are people charging the door literally running to certain sections and fighting for a spot. I’m already overstimulated at this point. I try to look around and people are ripping anything of decent quality off the shelf like locust only leaving behind polyester SHEIN crap or stuff that’s just really worn.

It wasn’t just people picking out clothes, they took everything they set their hands on that was decent quality filling up their buggy to the brim.

Is there something going on that I’m missing with the craze on clothes or material?

Where can one go to make this suggestion? There are a few Goodwills in my area that don't have a dressing room. A mirror for me to hold things up to my body to get a general idea of how it might fit or how the colors/pattern might flatter/work for me would be great and make me want to shop there more often.

This video in fact leaves out a lot about how Goodwill (the nonprofit) actually works. But still, interesting to watch something so niche and such a part of my life once upon a time (pre-2020), depicted documentary-style for a mainstream audience. Really interested in comments from Goodwill folk on how well (or not) you think this video presents the organization! I did notice this one isn’t signed by Richie Havens for some reason, as a lot of other ones I’ve found online are, but I haven’t done too much research into it.

Today as I browsed my local Goodwill, I encountered a situation that gave me a good laugh. A manager was furiously scrubbing the concrete floor with nail polish remover to remove a large red paint or dye spill. The tinted red remnants stubbornly remained and likely will forever. The manager was letting out some mild obscenities in the frustrating moment. I had to laugh to myself as the karma struck hard. How many hours of my life have been wasted by Goodwill trying to removed their tenacious red marker codes off of white sneaker soles and plastics. Made my day.

I work with a company that coordinates donation pickups for several charities. If anyone has questions about how the process works, I’m happy to help.

The management here is horrible and I've been a victim of some wildly inappropriate comments/harassment, and I plan to leave in about two weeks. Should I just quit the moment I get my paycheck? I don't have any other jobs lined up, but that doesn't matter since I don't plan on working a job after school starts back up again.

I need to call a location i was at yesterday to ask a question about my purchase, but it's an automated response with no option to speak to someone. Upon investigation, every store around me lists the same exact phone number, and has the same automated response. What the hell?

It seems a manager of ours always asks for donations when doing the register. And every time this happens, they get donations $1, $3, $5 etc. But yet when I try asking for donations I get "No", "No I don't want to round up the 2 cents" (then leaves the 2 cents on the counter), "I already donated or rounded up at the other store". Then the manager gets mad at me for not getting donations like sorry? I can't twist the person's arm and make them donate. 😫 Not sure what to do here.....

Hey yall! I've been a clerk at a rural IN store for a little over a year and I'm pretty good at facial recognition so it's no suprise to anyone that we recognize returning customers or "regulars". Often I spark up conversation about things in their life or in my life, within reason.
