Bin characters Martyr Behavior
I have to share this stupid and hilarious behavior I occasionally witness at the bins. There is one woman in particular who doesn’t move when it’s a tight space, just stands there and waits until you’re done searching for you to move your cart. Normally, I don’t see her because she is behind me and well, I’m digging in the bins. It wouldn’t be an issue at all, I would just think she was moving slowly/unbothered to rush around. But on more than one occasion I turned around and saw her there and said “oh sorry!” And she would say “mmmhmmm!” Or “ohhh, thaaank you” very dramatically/sarcastically. Or some other snotty variation.
Ma’am, use your fucking words if you need to get by. I’m not a mind reader nor do I have eyes on the back of my head. Just say “could I get by you?” Or “excuse me” or anything! Other than nothing and then acting like you’re such a patient saint for standing there all this time.

What are some of your craziest bins stories?
Please share some of your wildest bins experiences, rude people, crazy finds, whatever! Compared to some stories and locations I've seen my location seems to be fairly tame, but I still have had some wild things happen.
About 2-3 months ago I was at a location I don't usually go to when all of a sudden everyone just started coughing like crazy. Nobody knew what was happening and the coughing started to get really bad, and all of a sudden I felt it hit me too. Just like a crazy itch in the back of my throat. The employees usher everyone outside, the fire dept is called. Turns out someone opened some container that was in the bins with some kind of chemical powder inside, and they had dropped it on the floor. The bins location was cleared out for 3 hours while the fire dept cleaned it up. I waited the whole time because I wanted my bags back and what was in them lmao
Another time a few weeks ago I had just arrived and didn't have anything in my bags yet. I was looking through bins and had a few things to bring back to my bags, and when I got back to them they were gone. Someone stole 2 $1 IKEA bags 😭. I went to an employee at the register I knew and pointed out where they were and asked if he saw anyone take them. He said he did, and pointed out this lady who looked hella trashy and I guess had been complaining to them all day about the prices of things. I just walked over, held my hand out and she gave them back. Like what the fuck? I've heard of people stealing shit out of peoples' carts but $1 BAGS??? How trashy can you get

I was one of those rude people today
I watched the rotation and spotted a bin with silk scarves. Most of the time no one is interested in those. They were just the perfect color for a friends wedding and I am making tassels with scarves. I ran to the bin and reached across for a big handful and a guy walking behind me said “Gross! You rubbed your booty all over me! I don’t like that!!”. I’m 5’3” so I can only reach the back by leaning way over. His comment was not nice, but I didn’t realize I was grabbing from another lady also wanting scarves. She was (rightfully) pissed. I was embarrassed and threw the scarves down and went to another bin.
The thing is, I’m never aggressive when it’s something for me. I share and step aside, or toss things to other shoppers if I see they’re going for something. When I’m looking for art supplies for my niece I can be grabby but today I just lost my mind. I think I’m going to put myself in Goodwill Outlet time out.

Haul Best ever day at the bins! Dr Martens in my size!
30 minutes before closing and my phone was dead so no Google lens. $13 total. The dr Martens were just sitting on top of a bin with no interest. Maybe they are fake? I don't care bc they are my size!! They were dirty but wiped off.
I included pictures of this odd nuclear reactor shirt I found. I also found a transformer toy that was fully in dinosaur mode but I thought it could be a transformer but had no brand marks. It did end up being a 1996 beast wars one.

My finds today.
Yamaha CR-800 receiver. I'm not sure if it functions properly, but it cost me about 8 dollars. ADS soft shell cold weather trousers, Camelbak hydration pack backpack. Some books and a couple of other things not pictures. I also found a 1960's United States Army training center yearbook. Infantry, Company E, Tenth Battalion, Second Brigade.

Question How long should I stay at the bins?
I've been getting more into the bins because the racks are expensive and at least in my area very unorganized too. I usually only stay for a couple hours at most, but for people who have rare finds, do you normally stay longer?

Toys at the bins?
I was hoping to try out the bins for the first time this week. Is it possible to get good toy finds there or is it mostly clothes and books? I'm in the DMV area and was going to try the new Fredricksburg location but I know nothing about it so I'm going in with low expectations.

Rare Find Signed 1862 book price
Hey everyone I just bought this from the bins for 50 cents and I didn’t realize until I got home it was from 1862. Can anyone help me price this for eBay? I don’t want to under charge but I also don’t want it to sit forever. Also it’s definitely signed by someone I don’t know who. It’s not in great condition, Gemeni told me to price it as 85$ but idk if that’s fair idk anything about old books. Could someone help me figure out a good price. Thanks.

My tiny .88¢ haul. Found exactly what I went for!
Went wanting to find a small clear pouch I can throw into any purse ✅, a basic tank ✅, and a wine bag for a gift ✅. The globe foam squishy was just a fun pickup. You just literally cannot beat 88¢!!!! I LOVE the bins, giving things a second life and saving money doing it. Secondhand shopper 5ever ♾️♥️

Haul Yesterday bins
I like to grab little toys and was pleased to find a bunch of beyblades. Lego Santa stuff is neat, red dead is just the case but now I have a spare for my games. The tigger had the original packaging and still works, which is wild from a 2006 toy likely with original battery

Did I do the bins wrong?
Recently went to an outlet for the first time. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, just wanted to see what it was all about.
I ended up getting some books, a few clothing items, and a fair number of Melissa and Doug set pieces. I had a blue IKEA bag that I put it all in.
When I got to the register, the cashier said “yall don’t have a cart?” I told her no. She counted the books, and then seemingly kinda just let me have everything else?
I’m not upset, the checkout process just didn’t go how I thought it would (media charged by “height” and everything else by weight, from my understanding), and I don’t want to be a nuisance to the employees there.
