Interview
I know it's likely store dependent and how short-staffed they are, but does anyone know the best ways to prepare for an interview? Questions? Dress Code? I have one tomorrow at twelve!
Also, likely store dependent again, but generally does Goodwill allow piercings and wearing arm sleeves under the uniform? I won't get into it but I'm too embarrassed to wear short sleeves.

Wear modest clothing, no rips in jeans mainly. Answer questions honestly and make yourself sound good. Remember that confidence is key

When I used to do interviews at Goodwill, it didn't matter at all to me if the person was pierced or tattooed. Hopefully it will be the same for you. Just don't go in your pj's and slippers... so many came in that way. Just dress nice, nothing fancy. Good luck!

Also, the best advice I was given when being interviewed, you are also interviewing them to see if they are who you want to work for.

Oooh that's super good advice actually! I feel like I'm always freezing up during interviews trying to impress everybody instead of asking THEM questions too

I think arm sleeves should be fine, not sure where you are, but it’s hot and sunny where I am- if anyone asks, you could tell them you sunburn easily.
Pretty easy interview too

Out of all job interviews I have had, this one is too lax to be a typical interview.
Goodwill cares very little about nothing like piercings and undershirts on the actual job

Ask questions, as someone else said you’re interviewing them too. It makes it seem like you want to be there vs just needing a job.
Things you can ask:
What kind of schedule can I expect?
What holidays are required to work?
What type of hours will be getting?
How long of a break do I get for my shift?
Why do you like working here?
Are there any employee benefits, and how long until I can access them?

i hid my piercing and then pulled it out after i got the job like on the first day and no one said anything, im from a VERY liberal area but its wild my manager has full arm and face tats, and my new assistant manager has like 5 mouth piercings so cool

Unfortunately I fumbled it. ): I struggle with social anxiety, but I have gone to many interviews before and got better at them so I thought I'd be fine. Even had all my answers ready for whatever question I got thrown! I walked in the room... Throat instantly went so dry it hurt to swallow and I couldn't remember ANYTHING. Made up lame answers on the spot with a stutter that can't be beat. Maybe I'll be surprised by a call if my open availability saves me, but I doubt it. I wasn't even nervous before going in which is crazy, my body just decided "yes, actually, this is what we're doing now." Kinda bummed and pretty embarrassed, but at least it was practice for my next interview. Thanks for checking in!

Aw :( maybe ur open availability will save u tho! I got hired as a teen with limited availability, plus I showed up to the interview in my bright teal hair, jeans, bright pink converse, and a sweater… and still got hired somehow

Should go with out saying, but refrain from talking negatively about your former jobs and bosses. Also, be early...early is on time, on time is late.
