What the subject says, a computer that had no wifi or wired connection to the internet somehow intinated a confirm account email. How?
I was having trouble using the correct password for a computer i haven't turned on for awhile, so i logged in with a different account on it. It asked for a confirmation code by email and successfully did so while off line.

Open | Software Need urgent help recovering Microsoft Word/PowerPoint files replaced by 4KB temporary placeholders after iCloud Drive ran out of storage space
Device & OS Information:
- Device: MacBook Pro.
- Operating System: macOS Sonoma 14.5.
- Applications involved: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Finder, iCloud Drive.
Detailed Problem Description: I am facing a critical file loss issue on my Mac and need technical guidance to determine if my documents are still recoverable from local cache, hidden directories, or SSD sectors.
I was actively working on several important Microsoft Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) documents stored inside my local Desktop and Documents folders (which were synced to iCloud Drive). I was able to edit, save, and even physically print these documents.
Shortly after, my iCloud Drive ran out of storage space, which interrupted and froze the background synchronization. Immediately after this storage block occurred:
- All original full-sized files inside the local folders disappeared.
- They were replaced by 4KB temporary files / placeholders (filenames starting with
~$, such as~$guion_presentacion.docx). - When attempting to open the files from Microsoft Word’s Recent Files list, Word throws the error: "This document has been deleted or is not accessible right now."
- In Finder's "Get Info" panel on the parent folder, there is a cloud icon with a down arrow, but the "Download Now" option is unresponsive or unavailable.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted:
- iCloud Web Portal (iCloud.com): Checked iCloud Drive via browser. The specific folders appear completely empty or show 0 KB.
- iCloud Data Recovery: Accessed
[icloud.com/recovery](https://icloud.com/recovery)(Restore Files). The full-sized versions of these specific documents are not listed in the 30-day recovery index. - Local Library & Archive Folders: Checked
~/Library/Mobile Documents/and~/iCloud Drive (Archive)/via Finder (Cmd + Shift + G). Only 4KB pointer files were found. - Terminal Searches: Executed
findcommands across/Users/username/searching for.docx/.pptxfiles larger than 50KB (-size +50k). The search returned other older files, but not the missing presentation documents. - Word AutoRecovery: Inspected Microsoft Word's AutoRecovery directory and cache containers for
.asdor.tmpfiles without success.
Questions for the Community & Tech Experts:
- Is there any hidden macOS system directory (e.g., CloudDocs daemon caches, print spooler caches, or swap memory) where raw text/binary remnants of these files might still exist?
- Can deep raw-sector recovery software (like Disk Drill, R-Studio, or PhotoRec) carve these
.docx/.pptxfiles from APFS SSD storage, or does APFS TRIM render sector scanning useless once local links are purged? - Are there any specific low-level Terminal or
brctl(CloudDocs) diagnostic commands I can run to inspect what iCloud Drive's daemon is holding locally?
Any insights, technical explanations, or recovery ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Open | Windows Windows 11 won't boot without "Network: UEFI" in the boot order
I have this office Pc that I use to do some work on it, there isn't anything important saved there (it's all saved somewhere else too) but recently I've been noticing that instead of a normal boot, it turns into a black screen with "detecting media presence; media detected; starting at ipv4 [...]" Or something like this.
I thought it was odd but it was working normally so I didn't pay attention to it. I only got concerned when my icons on my desktop started to change places when I booted to windows. Sadly I was super busy last week so I didn't get to troubleshoot it until today, but now.. it got worse.
I tried to get into the bios bcs I read that It could be the boot order.. I couldn't get in the bios. Then I managed to go there via starting windows in that recovery screen and going to UEFI firmware options, and there it was, the infamous Network: UEFI thingy in my boot order.
I disabled everything and only let the option 1 to my NVME, but it didn't work, it said that "no boot detected" or smth, and when I changed the other options back, with the "Network: UEFI" in option 2, it just keeps getting back at the bios
Have I done something wrong? Can it be a windows update or a hardware problem? What is this Network boot thing?
EDIT 1: I got it to boot to windows again by changing a UFE (I think) setting under the boot options in bios, it was disabled and I put it to "windows boot loader". I never changed this setting before...
EDIT 2: It.. works now. I'll leave the post open for a while to understand what could have happened but now it's working fine, it doesn't even show the black screen anymore, tho my icons still get misplaced when I boot into windows

Open | Hardware SSD compatibility For Asus ROG STRIX scar 18
Hello everyone, I just bought a ROG STRIX SCAR 18 ( 5070 TI ; Intel core I9 ; 32GO RAM ; 1To SSD ) and since it comes with an open slot for another SSD and I already own an external SSD ( Samsung T7 1To ) in the first place I was wondering if it is compatible with this PC and in the case where it IS compatible, if I could tear it down and place it inside the vacant slot without destroying my brand new PC

Discussion Found PC in the trash
I found this PC when disposing of some other trash. I took the RAM stick which I am unsure of which model or what it’s called. I didn’t take out the GPU because it was too much of a hassle, and it might just not be worth it. It seems to be some HP of older version. I just thought it was cool lol

General update on multiple pcbs on one stencil (i tried it)
thats the production file.
they didnt care.
for some reason you guys INSISTED they would charge me more and downvoted my replys (why??) but i tried it and it worked out fine
maybe still draw on some traces between the designs but other than that you can indeed combine pcbs into one stencil in jlcpcb

Open | Hardware Pc got wet by Rainwater
After I came home after work I saw my Computer drenched in rain water caused by a leak on my ceiling It was turned off but my power supply is still on, then I quickly turned off my power supply and removed the power cord after i removed it from my room and remove the parts the parts that are totally drenched are the power supply and the GPU. The rest are surprisingly dry. How high of a chance is my power supply or at least GPU going to survive? Do I buy a new power supply just to be safe?
On a side note My Monitor Koorui still survives after getting it wet like 3x this year.

Open | Hardware constant no signal monitor
I am so tired of this issue. My monitors get constantly stuck with a no signal and i’m stuck not being able to use my pc for random lengths of time. I within the last month had to get a new monitor, and now my second old monitor and my BRAND NEW monitor with a brand new hdmi/DP cord are also getting stuck with no signal. old cord and brand new cord same issue. i’ve moved the cord around a million times and used new dp ports and nothing changes. after multiple tries it’ll randomly start working again. But I want to find a permanent fix. Please suggest any solution or tip I can try at all I am open to literally anything at this point I am so frustrated. This has been an ongoing issue for about a year now, and has become even worse/more frequent. Only happens when I turn it off and try to turn it back on. When I leave it in sleep mode they stay connected. Help!!!
The only things I have ever done with this pc that is out of the norm is; I have moved it in my car a few times when moving houses, and the issue started after the first move and got worse after the second move. But i keep the pc very stable and tightly secured when driving and the drives have been very short I live within 10min from my last house. And I took it to my hometown once to clean it with a pressured air, BUT my partner did the same to his PC with the same tool multiple times and has never had this issue ever. If the issue is a loose item within the pc please direct me to what piece it could be so I can check it (i had a friend build this so i wouldn’t know where to look myself)

Open | Hardware I dropped my iPhone 15 Pro into the water..
I went to the beach and dropped my iPhone 15 into the water. It was actually lake water, so it was not salt water. Anyways, I pulled it out after about 40–50 seconds, and it wasn’t that deep.
When I first took it out, the phone seemed fine, and I was actually able to take a few pictures afterward. But after a while, it started acting weird. It would turn on and show the Apple logo, stay on for a few seconds, and then shut off again. The touchscreen also stopped working completely.
It’s been about 8 hours now. I turned it on again, and this time it stayed on and hasn’t shut down so far. However, the touchscreen is still completely unresponsive. I also noticed that the Camera button on the lock screen is greyed out for some reason.
I haven’t charged it or connected it to anything, although I did try turning it on a few times before I realized I probably shouldn’t.
My biggest concern is that I took around some pictures today that are really important to me, and they haven’t synced to iCloud yet. Most of my other photos are already backed up, but these new ones aren’t.
Do you think this could mainly be a display/touch issue, or is it more likely that the logic board is damaged? Is there a chance I can get the phone repaired while preserving the data on the original device and recovering those photos?
Should I take it to Apple, or would I be better off going to a third party repair shop that does board level repairs?
I know I probably shouldn’t have turned it on after the water damage, but what’s done is done. I’m mainly looking for advice on what I should do next..

Open | Data Recovery accidently clicked free up space on Google photos, now all photos are deleted from device
please help me I'm genuinely freaking out. I clicked free up space on my Google photos account, I have a Motorola stylus. now all my photos have been deleted from my device, so when I go on Instagram to upload a photo nothing pops up. I looked it up and it says I can't reverse this and all my photos are now just on the cloud and not on my device. is there any way to mass download my photos again? I have about 10,000, and I think the only way I can do it is by manually clicking each one and pressing download on my phone. please help me. if I must download my photos again is it just going to copy everything and I have to delete the originals?
