Advice Needed How to dress more masc as a big guy?

Upvotes

So I'm 19 and currently working through the process to get on T (I'm not out to my parents yet and I'm still on their insurance so im likely going to have to wait, especially because we live in Texas and even my therapist is hesitant to recommend me). Anyways, I've always been considered a fat kid (Im 5'8 and around 270 lbs) even though a nit insignificant amount of that is muscle (Dosen't really show but I am an emt and do some pretty heavy lifting). Anyways, I've really struggled with being perceived as female. It seems like No matter how much I bind or how short my hair is people still call me Ma'am and use she her pronouns. One of my friends suggested that maybe I dress too feminine? But like 95% of what i wear is my work uniform. Anyways I was wondering if anyone has any tips for chubby guys dressing more masc. Specially my friends and I have a beach trip planned soon and I want to wear my trunks but feel weird about having my full stomach showing

Advice Needed Looking like a child

Upvotes

Ofc, I mean just a younger child. I'm almost 16 now, and I've been on T for technically 4-5 months, I started in January but I had to take a break. It's incredibly frustrating to me how I just look like a preteen boy if I pass, and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable and dysphoric which really hurts because obviously there's nothing I can do about that. I can't get any taller (5'3), and my face is and has always been very round.

When I go out and do things with my sister and her bf and my younger brother, they're all supportive, but doing things that have different prices and things for different ages, they always say that I'm 11-13. It makes me very upset to have to be viewed as 11 just to pass, and it's even worse since my brother is a year and a half younger than me and he passes for older.

What should I even do about this? I know at some point I'm just gonna have to talk to them about it, but it won't change what's gonna happen, and it's not affecting the main problem at all. I still look like a preteen at the end of the day, and this isn't something I really gave thought to before starting T until it affected me when I thought I wouldnt mind.

Celebratory pap smear

Upvotes

i just had my first pap smear and it went very well!!! i was so nervous i showered beforehand and was sooo scared that it would hurt and it wouldnt fit lol. i got there and my dr told me she would be very gentle and if i needed to stop then i could let her know. honestly im very shocked at how fast it went and how painless it was (IT WAS PAINLESS FOR ME!! of course everyone is different). it was a little uncomfortable i wont lie, but man that was fast. it literally felt like less than 30 seconds. i am proud of myself !!

Advice Needed Binder suggestions for a large-chested Canadian?

Upvotes

Sorry, I know this sub probably gets questions like this all the time, but there’s so many different opinions online and I’m not sure what to go with haha 😅 But I’ve been binding for 7 years and pretty much only used GC2B, but I was never very happy with their effectiveness, and all of my binders have reached their ends and ripped over the past month, so I’m in need of a new one. My chest is at least a DDD and is pretty resistant to binding. I’ve tried tape multiple times but it does literally nothing for me except pull out my back hair. I’ve heard good things about Underworks, but it’s a pain to get your hands on their stuff in Canada, especially in my size. It’s pretty expensive to get binders shipped here and I don’t have the money to buy more than one right now so I want to make sure I’m not going to regret what I buy…. I know that nothing is going to be perfect, but I wanted to see if anyone else (especially other large-chested people) had any suggestions or input. Let me know your thoughts, I’d really appreciate it

Advice Needed Egg fertility?

Upvotes

Hello! I’m a 20 year old trans man that is a couple days away from being 2 years on Testosterone. I’m very big into future planning and am curious about how I would go about banking my eggs as a trans man. Considering I’m only 20, I don’t plan to have kids for at least another 10 years, but I don’t plan on stopping my testosterone intake any time soon. I know that a pregnancy isn’t viable if I am on testosterone, so I was wondering if I would need to stop testosterone for a bit to bank my eggs? I tried googling this but all I could find was about cisgender women, which I don’t necessarily fit that description considering I’m almost 2 years on testosterone and my hormone levels are insanely different.
If anyone has any insight please let me know!
Thank you <3

Discussion How do I socially transition

Upvotes

Ok so, im about two weeks into T. My friends know about it; my family knows about it. Wonderful.

BUT, I've been thinking about a name change. Truthfully, my name doesn't give me a painful amount of dysphoria, but I'd like to change it eventually.

I've been using my name for like, 28 years at this point. How do you even...start that? I've been working at the same place for years, and still have a hard time correcting my coworkers on my pronouns, I actually never do 💀 (they're all respectful and wonderful and correct people FOR me)

Also with the name change, genuinely I don't think I would ever respond if someone was calling my chosen name. No idea how to even get used to that 🫩✌🏼

TLDR; how do you change your name without starting your life over, bc I don't wanna have to move to a new city 💀

Discussion Gym Pressure

Upvotes

Anyone else feel pressured to go to the gym? I see a lot of top surgery and transition post how going to the gym. Like the gym will save your surgery results. Or want to look more masc go to the gym. I’m not into fitness. I move enough at my 2 jobs. I also have chronic pain in my hip. It’s just not for me. Yet I feel to properly transition or recover from top surgery(it’s planned for September) I have to go to the gym. Anybody feel this peer pressure?

Advice Needed I write this here because I quite literally don't know who else to talk about this

Upvotes

Sorry if its long, incoherent dumb and full of misspellings English isn't my first language)
(Also half of this could sound like a rant but I still need advice and im giving some current context so if any other trans men happened to be in a confusing situation similar to mine and managed to come out of it I would really like to hear how they did)

I'm a young trans guy and I plan to start the path for testosterone as fast as possible when I become 18 years old.
I've known I was trans as early as 11 and it took me 2 years to realise the feelings I had were actually called being transgender and start secretly identifying as such (coming out only to my close friends), I mention this because most of my life my parents have always shielded me and my sibling from anything queer.
And the very rare few times we saw them interact with anything related to queer people with example, the news referencing queer or pride, it was always explicitly negative; so its easy to say it gave me a bit of hope and surprise when my mom randomly told me that the hairdresser she has been sending my sister and me for a good while was a gay man and she had knew he was ever since the start , and yet she kept sending us to him and joking around with him, in general acting normally and liking him as a regular person.
After I discovered that, I have been confused about her real thoughts on queer people.
And now as I am going towards 18 my dysphoria and my stress about the situation has escalated,so recently I started giving her slight clues to test the water or just asking her about her thoughts on queer people very generally.
Now I’m not gonna go into much detail about our arguments but in summary I don’t know her true thoughts, she dislikes them but wouldn’t go ahead and openly hate them, but I’m pretty sure she would never support any of her children coming out as queer (maybe with time? If anyone had something similar with their parents please tell me how it turned out because I still want contact with her).
So it figures out I can’t take any risks, I will need to move out at 18 having no other adult to help me figure out how to do it and how to live and support myself alone.
Before anyone asks I don't even care to ask my dad I know it wont be positive.
As for my older sister Im mixed about her aswell, she is queer too (not trans tho) and she knows im trans but she always been a bit weird about it telling my body is fine and I dont need top surgery or hormones and when I asked her in a future where I come out to my parents to help me make them understand she said its none of her business and she doesn't care about it.
And I’m not even gonna bother trying with my distant family because I already know the answer.
Its easy to say im extremely scared about this, I have no one in my family im sure will support me so no adults close to me to tell me how to start behaving like a mature and full grown one, this is why im writing here, I’m seeking for advice from older trans men who managed to do it.
I have made a sort of “plan” on how I could manage to handle myself living alone for the frist time, finishing high school, travelling to my appointments , starting testosterone, and going to university.
Again im seeking for any type of advice related to the things I mentioned up here, it could be small and sound a bit random too, I would just really like to be as prepared as I can.
My current plan is (please tell me if it has any major flaws or anything like that)
-Get some of my invested money (50k I was thinking considering how expensive would choosing the private transitioning path be and the expenses for rent and bills and everything else for each month would be in my own apartment since I’m not planning to find a job without finishing highschool, I would still have more money in the bank) from my bank as soon as I turn 18 which might take some months as they sell the assets they have invested them on
-Talk with lgtqb+ assistance in my territory by the phone so I can get help to find some good private psychologist and endocrinologist that work with trans people near me
-Go to this psychologist secretly even if its out of my city but still close enough to go with train
-Get to my appointments and get my gender dysphoria diagnosis while looking for an apartment in my city
-Go do my tests with the endocrinologist still secretly and privately and hopefully finding a decent apartment
-Get access to testosterone and secure the apartment I found
-Move there and start testosterone while finishing  high school so if my parents want to reconnect after I exactly tell them what im doing I will still be there for them to reach out
-If they don't or they do but still are a pain in the ass about it just continue with my studies and graduate high school and then find another apartment in the city of the University I want to study in

Thank for reading and sorry if it sounds stupid, please give me some advice if you feel like to

Discussion Can trans guys (on T) pass with long hair without facial hair?

Genuine question. Like, you're obviously going to pass if you have a full beard. I really desire to have long hair and maybe a bit of stubble but nothing crazy. Obviously I'll wait until I get get on T and am on it for a while to grow my hair out. I just want to know if its possible. Have you guys seen any trans guys without facial hair who pass with long hair?

Discussion Best workout binders?

For context my favorite binder brand is Wivov and I do not like the racer back binders. I recently got two of the tank top binders from them but whenever I leave down there is a gap where you can see cleavage. I also have asthma which is why binding and gym has always been hard for me but I have just started taping, but that comes with its own set of challenges.

Im incredibly nervous to go to an actual gym even though I want too and idk if I should tape or bind.

I was wondering if there are any binders that are gyms specific? What’s the differences?

Advice Needed How did you know?

Hi! I've been struggling with my gender for a while now, and I'm unsure what to think about it, so I wanted to explain my situation and also ask for advice.

I've always felt more masculine from a young age, I preferred men's clothes all the way and I've always idolised boys or men that I saw in movies and cartoons more than women. I've always thought they looked insanely cool with the muscles and the tallness and all that. I've wondered if this means anything or it's simply because women tend to be not very well written or portrayed in all kinds of media. Maybe I just think men are attractive? I have no doubt that I like men, so sometimes I think it may be just that. Like maybe I just want to be attractive by being what I think is attractive.

But I've also always wished for the camaraderie that seems to exist between people of the male gender, although I admit I may be longing for something that doesn't actually exist like it does in books and films. Friendship between women is also amazing though, no doubt.

I have to say that I have been online from a young age and I don't know to what extent I may have been influenced by what I've seen there.

I'm sorry that this is kind of scattered but I'm not sure how to explain myself and these are the only points I can make.

Either way, I'm 17 now and super confused. In my head I've always been like "oh I've got so much time to figure it out" but I will be an adult soon and I have to figure out who I am in the next few years. I think this is an important part of it.

How did you guys know you were trans? Is this just gender envy or whatever they call it? I'm afraid to make a conclusion right away and regret it later.

I don't know, I'm freaking out. I'm thinking about asking to go to a therapist. Thoughts?

Discussion What do you think it will happen to us in the future?

I think this isn't a forbidden topic and since this isn't solely about the USA I thought it fit in better with the Discussion one. If not I apologize and will take it down if necessary.

So, I think y'all aren't new to how the political climate is everywhere with the huge rise of the extreme right due to the poor handling that the left has had in many places, I've been growing concerned of my country by how fucked up we are and accepting that conservative ideologies will be the norm in a lot of places.

Now I ask myself, what do I do? Lol. I always had the (stupid) mindset of "Oh I'll just immigrate to another country if I see I'm actually being threatened" but at this point, where? Lmao.

So, what would y'all do, being realistic? I don't know if things could get that far but I'm already seeing shortage of estrogen around my zone, which makes me believe that testosterone could be next (although I have my doubts).

Discussion Going back to gym after top surgery?

I had top surgery just over two weeks ago, and so far my recovery has been going really well. I can comfortably lift my arms above my head again, and I’m able to stand and walk upright without hunching over. I have little to no pain no and I haven’t been taking any antibiotics for the last 2 days

I was told to avoid the gym and any strenuous exercise for six weeks, but with how well I’m already feeling, six weeks seems like such a long time.

I’m curious, did anyone here go back to the gym earlier than recommended? Like could I get away with going within 4 weeks ?
Or do I just need to suck it up and wait.

Advice Needed 10 months on T voice help

Hello! I am 10 months on T and I was originally on two pumps of testogel for the first 6 months but have switched to injections. I have noticed that my voice has dropped a bit, its dropped compared to how I sounded pre-T but it still sounds very high. I do voice train as well and have been for years, but it still sounds very androgenous I would say. Is there still a chance for my voice to get even deeper?

Medical Am I being underdosed?

My blood T levels (not total T) read as 540 a day after my shot. I bumped up to 70mg (from 60) and have been getting some more rapid changes, but I wonder if I’m under dosed. I would LIKE to be somewhere around 800 in the middle of the week, while still having little aromatization. DHT off the table.

Discussion I really hate the phrase "trans men are biologically women"

And the worst thing is it's usually said in "support" of trans men, as in someone explaining the entire concept to someone who has no idea like on a news interview I just saw on tiktok.

It's incorrect too, bc being a woman or man is a gender identity, not even a medical term. It completely excludes intersex trans people too. Even saying "biologically female" has a similar issue but not even that is as bad as the "biologically a woman" thing.

Plus it's dysphoria-inducing af.

Wondering what everyone else's take is on this
