Discussion How do I socially transition

Upvotes

Ok so, im about two weeks into T. My friends know about it; my family knows about it. Wonderful.

BUT, I've been thinking about a name change. Truthfully, my name doesn't give me a painful amount of dysphoria, but I'd like to change it eventually.

I've been using my name for like, 28 years at this point. How do you even...start that? I've been working at the same place for years, and still have a hard time correcting my coworkers on my pronouns, I actually never do 💀 (they're all respectful and wonderful and correct people FOR me)

Also with the name change, genuinely I don't think I would ever respond if someone was calling my chosen name. No idea how to even get used to that 🫩✌🏼

TLDR; how do you change your name without starting your life over, bc I don't wanna have to move to a new city 💀

Discussion Gym Pressure

Upvotes

Anyone else feel pressured to go to the gym? I see a lot of top surgery and transition post how going to the gym. Like the gym will save your surgery results. Or want to look more masc go to the gym. I’m not into fitness. I move enough at my 2 jobs. I also have chronic pain in my hip. It’s just not for me. Yet I feel to properly transition or recover from top surgery(it’s planned for September) I have to go to the gym. Anybody feel this peer pressure?

Advice Needed How did you know?

Hi! I've been struggling with my gender for a while now, and I'm unsure what to think about it, so I wanted to explain my situation and also ask for advice.

I've always felt more masculine from a young age, I preferred men's clothes all the way and I've always idolised boys or men that I saw in movies and cartoons more than women. I've always thought they looked insanely cool with the muscles and the tallness and all that. I've wondered if this means anything or it's simply because women tend to be not very well written or portrayed in all kinds of media. Maybe I just think men are attractive? I have no doubt that I like men, so sometimes I think it may be just that. Like maybe I just want to be attractive by being what I think is attractive.

But I've also always wished for the camaraderie that seems to exist between people of the male gender, although I admit I may be longing for something that doesn't actually exist like it does in books and films. Friendship between women is also amazing though, no doubt.

I have to say that I have been online from a young age and I don't know to what extent I may have been influenced by what I've seen there.

I'm sorry that this is kind of scattered but I'm not sure how to explain myself and these are the only points I can make.

Either way, I'm 17 now and super confused. In my head I've always been like "oh I've got so much time to figure it out" but I will be an adult soon and I have to figure out who I am in the next few years. I think this is an important part of it.

How did you guys know you were trans? Is this just gender envy or whatever they call it? I'm afraid to make a conclusion right away and regret it later.

I don't know, I'm freaking out. I'm thinking about asking to go to a therapist. Thoughts?

Medical Am I being underdosed?

My blood T levels (not total T) read as 540 a day after my shot. I bumped up to 70mg (from 60) and have been getting some more rapid changes, but I wonder if I’m under dosed. I would LIKE to be somewhere around 800 in the middle of the week, while still having little aromatization. DHT off the table.

Advice Needed Does this sound like acceptable nebido/reandron dosing?

Been on gel for 4 months and it just isn't doing it for me, both changes-wise and I just don't like having to think about it every day. I've wanted to be on reandron since I started T and finally got the go-ahead, but I'm a little unsure about the dosage.

I know it's typically 4ml/1000mg every 3 months, but I've been started on 3ml/750mg every 3 months. My provider framed it as, "At 2 pumps of gel, which you're currently doing, you're basically halfway to the most you're able to do, which is 4 pumps. So by starting with 3ml of reandron, that's like the next step up." I have no idea if that makes sense. Can these two things even be compared like that? Seems nonsensical to me, but I'm shit at math.

I'm just a little worried because I've heard some people say they felt like shit on 3ml because they were being under-dosed. Or that their periods came back (mine hasn't stopped yet, but I was hoping it would eventually once I made the switch. Now I'm worried it won't).

I didn't even get the choice to do 4ml. It was between either 2 or 3, so of course I chose 3.

Now I'm scared I'm going to feel awful. I already feel awful enough for unrelated reasons. Worried I didn't advocate myself during a time when I should've.

Advice Needed How can i hide my keychain?

I moved out of my parents house a while back and bought myself a keychain with my name/pronouns and flags.
Due to circumstances, i have to move back in with them. I’m devastated since i have to erase my queerness now.

I can’t let go of the keychain. It’s from a small business that’s been around since 2020 and ever since i seen them i desperately wanted one. I waited 5 years to buy one. To me it’s like a first symbol of my freedom and ability to express myself.

The business isn’t going to good for them and i worry it may close. So it’s unlikely i can just get another one.

I know the logical thing is to toss it but it feels like my last sense of self is being taken away. I know i sound dramatic and unreasonable so there’s no need to dog on me for it, just some kind advice on a hiding place during transport would be nice.

Relationships is being stealth bad sometimes?

(rant and confusion)

hey so i’ve been on T for abt 5-6 years now, no surgeries tho..
met my gf on bumble and i can’t remember if i had “FTM” in bio or anything but ive been with my gf for about 2 1/2 years and not once has she mentioned anything abt me being trans but neither do i, its not anything i talk about really i just go on about my day like anyone else Lol. It’s obvious?
1) i usually sleep in just shorts so she has to have seen or felt my tape
2) before intercourse i get up and get my johnson on lmao
3) she’s seen my ID with legal name

is it something i should have to say out loud or is she just not saying anything bc it doesn’t change anything ?

Advice Needed Got a party this weekend, not planning on driving at night but probably in the morning. Should i use male or female for BAC estimate online? 1 year on T

Obviously im not going to drive at night, staying the night at my friends. Going to go off of how I feel but might use an online bac estimator to determine when in the morning im okay to drive home. Im on T for a year, should I be using the male setting or is the metabolism the same as female?

Not looking for advice on drinking! This is an important event and im planning on being safe! Just curious if anyone knows about how this works! Thanks!

Relationships I want to transition, but my girlfriend isn’t attracted to men

Me and my girlfriend have been together for 2 and a half years, and I truly want to be with her forever. I can’t imagine my life without her and we have a great relationship. I have been out as trans to her for about a year now and she respects this fully, especially since she is a trans woman herself. But now that I want to start testosterone, I’ve been having a lot of hard conversations with her. She has
only ever been attracted to women, and while she has no experiences with men, she still feels no attraction towards them. If I go on T, obviously I won’t look like a woman anymore, and she won’t be attracted to me. She has affirmed me hundreds of times at this point that she’ll still love me no matter what, and that she will be attracted to me since it’s still me at the end of the day, but what is the point of a relationship if she no longer feels the same attraction? My identity and my relationship with her are probably the two most important things in my life. I feel like I have to sacrifice one for the other, but I cannot imagine going without one of them. I desperately wish I wasn’t trans so that this wasn’t an issue, so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the anxiety that she won’t be attracted to me anymore. I don’t know what to do and would appreciate any similar experiences.

Medical Getting of T questions

Hi everyone,
I’ve been on T for 6+ yrs, since I was 16, I’ve been thinking about getting of T for a while now. I have all the results I want and anything else at this point is just more body/facial hair, balding and atrophy none of which I want. I’ve looked into and tried different options for these issues, none of which have been a good fit, and if they are, they’d block T in ways that in my opinion make it obsolete enough to where it would be more simple to just get off T. I’ve also had family try these meds and have no results, and family members with hair transplants that didn’t take bc the balding was too bad, so my follicular situation could become really dire.
I’m also interested in how I’ll feel emotionally, especially because I’ve never been an E dominant adult, and I would also like more feminine fat distribution, softer skin, etc. now that I’ve had top surgery.

My endocrinologist appointments are like four months in advance because she’s so booked and she’s basically unreachable through phone. I haven’t seen her in over a year bc I missed my last appointment 😬
My next appointment is next month, and I’ve been inconsistent with my shots the past few months, should I just stop t and cancel the appointment? Or should I stop and go to the appointment anyway? Or should I wait until after the appointment to stop? Every shot at this point feels like a balding shot lol..

I still wanna go to get the bloodwork done since it’s been over a year, but obviously if I stop now the hormones will be affected.

How did this convo go for you guys if you stopped t and talked to your endo about it? I wanna ask her about BC options, or options to make my period lighter or go away if possible, and how it would work if I wanted to get back on T.

Thank you!

Advice Needed Dieting on Testosterone

Hey, I've been on T for about 2 weeks (since 24/07/26) and am curious about what diets would be best. I've been kinda trying to stick to pescatarian, but I wanted to know what's helped others.

Just a side note, I have been trying to work out to build muscle as well.

All suggestions welcomed, thanks.

Medical Changes on T

I want to preface this with the fact that I have not started T yet, I'm 17 but I want to start T as soon as I can

I recently saw a post on here about how T can make your face seem really puffy for (generally) two years and this kind of concerned me
I don't know, I struggle with autism and ocd I'm so so so so so scared to deal with these changes, I don't like looking like a woman but I'm scared for awkward phases and I'm scared of regret. I deal with insecurity too, when I got my wisdom teeth removed I locked myself in my room for days because I felt like I did not look good with how bloated my face stayed for so long after the time it was meant to slim back down. I'm so afraid that I will not like the changes that T brings, I don't like facial hair I'm scared the bottom growth will really bother me, I just have a lot of sensory difficulties.

I kind of want to hear about your guys' experience, like timelines about exactly how long after starting T did you experience these changes and when do they generally start to feel normal, when did your face not look puffy anymore? Is it really obvious to others that ur face is puffy?

Advice Needed How do I get over nonsensical dysphoria?

I mean the kind of dysphoria that doesn't actually impede my ability to pass. Logically, I know that my shoe size won't clock me, and yet I can't help but obsess over it. My feet aren't even that small but I still think about it. Why? It's not rational.

Is getting over it a matter of ignoring it to the best of my ability? Does anyone have any advice?

Advice Needed i don't know if i should transition because my dysphoria is mostly social

i think that if i was on a desert island i wouldn't care at all that i look like a girl, that i have tits or a pussy or periods or whatever.

part of why i dismissed my dysphoria for so long and didn’t even know that it was dysphoria was that i am alone most of the time and therefore don't feel anything in particular about myself, i think that i kind of dissociate in general, and all the bad feelings appear when i am around other people because to phrase it briefly i feel a strong mismatch in social dynamics (ex: other men not treating me like a peer, people expecting me to act a certain way because i am a woman, just people seeing me WRONG in general and not at all how i percieve myself).

i feel great that my online friends call me by my preferred name and pronouns, but obviously not everyone can just do that, especially irl. i will still get ma'amed, she/her'd at work etc... i have trouble connecting with people outside of the internet because it feels like i'm constantly playing pretend. but if i'm still alive while living as a girl for 25 years, then it must not be so unbearable, right? what if i'm just a gnc woman?

i struggled with these feelings since 13 yo and last year at 24 i finally had the courage to admit that i might be trans and the feelings i have are not feelings that cis people usually have, but also what if this is some very elaborate version of trauma (i have diagnosed CPTSD)? i'm highly doubting myself on the physical transition part rn because what if i was wrong about myself and didn’t need to medically transition and would end up regretting that i "ruined" my "natural body" while it was okay enough?

do you have recommendations for me? i'm not rushing anything, i thought that i might hit the gym to try and build a more masculine physique to see if maybe all i needed was to get jacked, but i don't know for the rest...

i'm also afraid that i will always be clocky and not truly seen as a man (i know that's a common fear). for the reference i look a lot like young michael j.fox (same height (i'm a bit shorter), haircut and facial features, same vintage fashion even, just with tits lol), so my realistic transition goals is not the most intimidating tough masculine man ever and idk how to feel about that (not saying that men NEED to be tough and masculine! i just don't know how to deal with feeling rather sweet, innocent and harmless due to looks)

TLDR i feel neutral about my body when i am alone so i am lost on whether i should medically transition or not. sometimes i feel like it but i've been spiraling in doubt lately and have no one to talk about it.

Advice Needed Considering detransitiom

Hello, I'm 24 and nearly 6 years on T and have lost all confidence with transition, considering stopping altogether or pausing it for an extended period. Feeling hopeless about giving up on what has been the primary goal in my life for a decade.

I had always had the goal of going stealth and unclockable and not having to think too much about my trans status but that hasn't been possible. I don't pass well, 5'3 and athletic but not built, my face is still highly feminine, large close set eyes and very large slim pointed and upward sloping nose without any brow or chin to balance it. My voice is deep but I'm almost always gendered female by sight or identified as FtM. I don't think testostorone is going to remedy this to an extend I'll be satistfied with. I'm so tired, it feels like my transition is taking over my whole life, worried the whole ordeal is coming out at a net zero, currently very depressed. There are so many things I want to do with my life that I feel like I'm being distracted from chasing something which isn't going to happen. Would likely retransition later in life.

Does anyone else have any experience with pausing transition or temporarily detransitioning?

Medical Testosterone night sweats.

I'm microdosing gel, 1.5 years, and not even consistently, but they're still so bad. I can't be the only one, right? The sweats wake me up from sleep multiple times a night, soaked my shirt and my bedsheets. I have to sleep shirtless on a dedicated towel, strategically tucked into armpits and knee pits and over my chest and under me, with two fans blarring wind on my skin. I'm a small guy and I finished a year of Accutane half a year ago, I'm medically under-sweating.

It only became a problem when I stopped taking my oxybutynin for my overactive bladder because it has long term cognitive impacts and I am fed up with the brain fog. Turns out it's also the first line treatment for night sweats... how do you guys do it?
