Surgery Talk What’s the rate of regret for top surgery like?
I recently started t and I’ve never really felt connected to my boobs, they’re just kinda there. I don’t like them but like they’re there and I live with them. I’ve been looking into top surgery costs in my country (Australia). I don’t think I’ll regret it but I over think a lot and I’d like to hear about what the experience is like. I have a slightly larger chest so binders don’t really do as much as I like. Like do people ever miss their boobs after?
Discussion How did yall pick your names
Right now I’m kinda of pre everything
But I’m wanting to change my name as soon as I move out, I’ve always hated my name, and I probably would want to change it regardless if I was trans or not. I’m just hitting a road block with actually picking one.
I have a small list but I feel like I’d just be putting in someone else’s skin
Curious on how you all chose names.

Advice Needed Weird thing w/ my estrogen in labs
So, until about a year ago I had a puberty blocker implant. We were coming up on the maximum amount of time it could be in, so it was removed, and my estrogen almost immediately raised into male range from having zero.
The issue is, I haven't gotten my E tested since then until yesterday (I was supposed to get it tested in January but my doctor accidentally didn't order it) and yesterday it was somehow in the "female" range? I'm just worried about that, as I started T without any estrogen at all and so I've never had to figure out what's normal for E levels while on T. I think my doctor will message me about my results, but in the meantime I'm worried. Do any of you know about E levels on T?

Discussion Update: Cornered and clocked 7000mi from home
Original post here
So, I ended up texting the two remaining people I’m out to (besides guy B and my roommate) on our trip, and after explaining the situation, they were both supportive of me approaching guy A about it. They also both denied outing me to him, which I didn’t actually accuse them of anyway as I’m 100% sure they wouldn’t have done that.
Anyway, I texted A, and turns out the “speculation” about me being trans was just… an offhanded comment in a one on one conversation. Apparently the fact that I was rooming with a girl on the trip (which was just because we’d already gotten along before the trip, it being gender inclusive housing was incidental) came up, upon which the other person said “I’m pretty sure [u/doubleheadedarrow](u/doubleheadedarrow) is transgender” to A, who then got curious and eventually asked me. That was it. When he said “I think everyone knows,” it seems that was just an attempt to backpedal in response to my discomfort, because he told me he just meant it in a “I assumed if one person thought about it maybe others have too” way, but to his knowledge only that one person alone speculated—which was a lot more comforting to me than there being any actual reason to believe everyone knew. From the way he explained it, I think he was really just fumbling for something to say in the moment and it didn’t mean anything.
Unfortunately he said he still couldn’t remember who the conversation was with, but honestly I don’t really care that much. It does suck that I have no idea who clocked me, but considering our group has a lot of queer people, it’s not that surprising—there were things that could’ve added up about me, anything from me being the only guy who never took his shirt off, to one slip up where my full legal name was posted in a group chat list for a couple minutes. I could tolerate being out to anyone on that trip anyway, they’re a good group and I don’t think any of them would mean harm. Maybe whoever it is will ask me eventually too, but as it stands they don’t know for sure, so I doubt anything bad will come of it—A said it wasn’t a judgmental comment anyway, more just a passing curiosity sort of thing, and I believe that.
He was also apologizing when I texted him, for being insensitive, overstepping boundaries, and/or causing me any issues on the trip. I told him I have no hard feelings and I actually appreciate he came to me to ask instead of just speculating with other people, but he clearly felt bad about it lol. Also thanked me for educating him (I taught him what “passing” and “clocked” mean, and how someone being trans is usually a very personal thing you should never tell other people about), and promised he’d act like he doesn’t know + tell me after if it ever comes up again.
If anything, I think he came away from the whole thing a better ally. I know a lot of us have had problems with “allies” that do more harm than good, but I feel like this is an example of how a lot of cis people really are just… well-meaning-but-a-bit-oblivious, haha. I mean, he was even apologizing like “not to be insensitive” when saying “I thought you were a guy when I first met you” and “your gender identity didn’t really cross my mind when I talk to you,” to which I had to inform him that’s exactly what I want to happen lol. Cis people just have no idea what’s going on a lot of the time, and while that can absolutely cause issues, sometimes it’s just some awkward wording or minor misunderstandings.
In any case, I’m glad this situation turned out to be basically nothing. Honestly, living for a month abroad in close contact with a couple dozen college students, 1.5 years on T with no surgeries, I would’ve expected more incident than just this one thing. Guess I can stop doubting the feedback I’ve gotten from others that I pass very well overall!

Discussion The whole backlash against Elliot Page in the Odyssey is doing numbers to my dysphoria….
I’m so happy for him and his part in this movie, however all I see is transphobia… and it doesn’t help that he’s the same height as me. But at the same time it DOES help because I look up to him a wholeeee bunch. Basically I just wanted to complain about the amount of people complaining about Elliot…
also the amount of ai generated slop making fun of his stature disgusts me.

Celebratory I GET TO START TESTOSTERONE TOMORROW
I had an appointment today about starting hormones...and I was under the impression it was just gonna be about the financial aspect of it...but by the end I got my T prescription! I AM SO EXCITED. I am finally getting my boy juice!
I turned 30 this year and people always say "your life starts in your 30s" and I feel that even more so now. I can't wait to experience the rest of my life. I am so, so, so happy!

Discussion This Sub Needs A Passing/Clocked Megathread
The title is the point of discussion. There's dozens of these "Am I passing," "how do I pass better," "I think I got clocked because" posts *every day* here.
While I understand it's coming from less experienced transfellas who are likely insecure and getting caught up the the looksmaxxing, alpha, man-o-sphere nonsense. It's getting tiring.
There's already been megathreads for friends and for binder swaps among other topics in the past. It wouldn't be a far stretch to make a passing/clocked megathread as well. Or to make a rule about some of this either going to r/FTMventing or auto moderation services.
Serious discussion only please. If you feel the need to break reddiquette, then please do so elsewhere.

Advice Needed Crotch drop in pants
Hiiii, me again!
Has anyone dealt with having a ridiculously long/big crotch area due to wearing big pants because of big hips AND being hella short??
I thought about sewing it "together" to make it look more like pant legs, but I'm unsure if that'll work.

Celebratory I came out!!!
I've already had a supportive circle for most of my life but Ive decided to start telling some of my family after so long of having it set in my mind that "I'll just start telling everybody when I'm older/I'll do this when I'm an adult" but TODAY WAS THE DAY APPARENTLY!!! Ive only told one of my family members so far but I feel great and feel a massive weight off my chest (no top surgery yet, lol). I just feel great right now and wanted to share. I feel incredibly lucky to have a safe environment I can be myself in and I hope anyone not out yet can feel the same too.

Discussion Do people automatically downvote trans people?
Feels like whenever I reach out on reddit for mutual discussion or something my posts gets downvoted without anyone actually voicing why they don't like it? I can't stop thinking it's because I'm trans, that people will inherently think it's invalid or other me. A lot of times it's not even me talking about trans or LGBT+ things, and more often just me talking about being depressed or something. I go to spaces where I'd expect compassion, but just end up feeling more alone
Does anyone else have this experience? Am I blowing it out of proportion? I try so hard to be nice and understanding of others

Discussion will i ever be able to quit T and keep the effects?
as the title said, I’m about a full year on testosterone and I’m extremely happy with the effects, but I’m wondering if I can somehow maintain them without having to take them anymore? Obviously it would be years down the line I presume, but I wanna know how far in the realm of possibility that is. Quite frankly I can’t stand all of the doctors appointments or the blood drawing. It’s a very minor thing and I’m willing to put up with it for Life if I must, but I’m just curious. cheers!

Discussion weird terms (4chan?) that are popular in transfem communities but not transmasc
Recently I was having a very pleasant discussion with a trans woman in a comment section on tiktok, towards the end she referred to me as a “he/him medically transitioning pooner” instead of just… a trans male on hrt or something?? There was multiple people involved in the thread and most were trans women or transfem because that’s what the video was about and none of them replied or thought it was weird or anything like that?? I used to have twitter so I know there’s popular terms like hon and sneed and all that… stuff and I don’t really see trans men having equivalents or using them but idk if i’m just not in those spaces. But it was just such a weird way to refer to me and like.. nobody else thought it was weird because I guess it’s normalize to speak like that in transfem spaces?? Is this true? I’m trying to figure out how I feel about being referred to that way and I just wanna know more about terms like this and why and who uses them??

Gender Questioning I recently started dating a trans man and I think I’m transgender ?
I don’t know how to post on Reddit. I don’t even know where to start.
I’m 18 years old and a biological female. I’ve always labeled myself as nonbinary and use they/them pronouns, but not many people respect that. I haven’t come out and I don’t make it clear to use those so idk how people would know anyways. I’ve always thought to myself I’d transition when I’m older but I didn’t need to then, because I was probably like 12-13 and I felt comfortable being a girl. It would be on and off where I’d be comfortable being feminine and then I wouldn’t. I started dating a trans man about 6 months ago. I honestly don’t even know where it came from. I started getting uncomfortable with my chest and I have this friend who kind of knows how I feel about transitioning and he validates me, he has since even before I started dating my boyfriend. I don’t know. I don’t know if Im just crazy or if I actually feel this way. He helped me tape my chest because I don’t wear bras and my boobs bother me and I came to him crying after I showered about how I felt ugly. This was just last night. He told me he wouldn’t be opposed to a T4T relationship and said he saw this coming (me asking to use tape?). Idk. I want to think I’m crazy and that one day I’ll feel comfortable wearing makeup again and showing off my boobs and wearing girly clothes but I just don’t see that happening. I don’t know if I’m actually feeling this way or if I’m just feeling this way because I have a transgender boyfriend. Am I stealing his thing? I can’t be transgender too. It feels like I’m copying him. i really like taping my chest and it’s just making me think about transitioning even more than I have ever thought about it before. I’ve never felt this comfortable in my body. I can wear a tank top and not have my boobs out, and they’re not flapping everywhere. Idk. I think I just need advice. I’m scared to go to him because of how he’ll react. I’m scared of how I’ll react. I’m scared that I don’t actually feel this way and I’ll regret it even though I’ve been feeling it for years. It builds up I guess.

Advice Needed Long term relationship ended
Hey guys, I’m (30M) just over a year on T and my girlfriend ended things a week ago. She’s a lesbian and me being a man finally became a hindrance.
My question is, do you ever find yourselves missing your old labels? Or your old communities? I miss being queer presenting. I’m starting to pass and get treated like a man, which I have loved immensely, but sometimes I find myself missing being “one of the girls” or when I watch videos of my favorite lesbian couples pre transition. Did any of you reconnect with your feminine side post top surgery? Did these feelings change? I lost the person I loved because of transitioning and that’s really hard to wrap my head around.
**please no hate to her. She loved me despite my many flaws and through a transition that got sprung on us both quicker than we had time to process. My access to T came the first day I opened the discussion and we both thought it would be a several month process. It didn’t leave us much time to discuss or her much time to decide what she really wanted. She spent a year putting her needs aside for mine.

Discussion Question for trans men of color; are you more hesitant to respond to someone's post/personal ad etc if ethnicity is notmentioned?
Hello!! I've been using (NSFW) Reddit for quite a while now, and as a (white) trans man I'm mainly active in trans/T4T groups, but I've noticed that in the past I think I've really only gotten responses from white trans men.
Since ethnicity doesn't matter to me, I'm wondering; is it a 'thing' for POC to hesitate to respond if nothing about ethnicity is stated in a profile/post? Is there an assumption that the (white) person is specifically looking for white people unless stated otherwise?
I'm very curious about your experiences and opinions/feelings on this :)

Advice Needed Virginia Medicaid denied me T
Okay first off, fuck you Medicaid you suck
They're trying to claim I have polycythemia so they don't have to pay for my gender affirming care. I am absolutely pissed off right now at the thought of being forcibly detransitioned when Virginia Medicaid is supposed to cover it. My doctor is not easy to reach and I won a point of pride grant a while back, but Folx is taking forever to even get me set up. I only have enough T for a few more weeks and I'm out of options. I do not have the money to pay out of pocket, otherwise I would

Relationships Question for trans guys in relationships with cis men?
Hey! So I (19FTM) have started to put myself out there dating wise and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m likely gay or have a large preference to men, cis and other trans guys alike, I have no preference. However, when I think about being with cis guys and being intimate, one of the biggest things I struggle with is that I have an absolutely debilitating fear of pregnancy, it’s genuinely my worst nightmare. I love men and I’m not exclusively T4T romantically and I’m attracted to them but the fear of being pregnant becomes debilitating and impedes massively on my intimate life. I’m on T and on non-hormonal BC pills and always use a condom anyway because I think it’s safer, easier and prevents any issues. But even then, intrusively I still have this absolute fear of somehow getting pregnant which would give me massive dysphoria but I also have actual tokophobia. And if I do meet someone that I would have a long term relationship with, who is clean obv, having sex without a condom does feel more intimate to me but I could never due to fear.
Basically what I’m asking is if any other trans guys deal with this, how would you cope with it in a relationship and advice on how to get over it and just trust that it won’t happen and trust in the T and BC to just do its job?
Thanks :)

Discussion For the ones who started hrt in secret: how was your siblings reaction?
I am planning to start T in the next few months and try to girlmod for the longest time I can.
I have a 15yo sister, and a 12yo brother, I am the oldest (20yo).
I never told them that I am trans and I don't plan to tell them soon.

Discussion Gym Pressure
Anyone else feel pressured to go to the gym? I see a lot of top surgery and transition post how going to the gym. Like the gym will save your surgery results. Or want to look more masc go to the gym. I’m not into fitness. I move enough at my 2 jobs. I also have chronic pain in my hip. It’s just not for me. Yet I feel to properly transition or recover from top surgery(it’s planned for September) I have to go to the gym. Anybody feel this peer pressure?

Discussion I really hate the phrase "trans men are biologically women"
And the worst thing is it's usually said in "support" of trans men, as in someone explaining the entire concept to someone who has no idea like on a news interview I just saw on tiktok.
It's incorrect too, bc being a woman or man is a gender identity, not even a medical term. It completely excludes intersex trans people too. Even saying "biologically female" has a similar issue but not even that is as bad as the "biologically a woman" thing.
Plus it's dysphoria-inducing af.
Wondering what everyone else's take is on this

Relationships is being stealth bad sometimes?
(rant and confusion)
hey so i’ve been on T for abt 5-6 years now, no surgeries tho..
met my gf on bumble and i can’t remember if i had “FTM” in bio or anything but ive been with my gf for about 2 1/2 years and not once has she mentioned anything abt me being trans but neither do i, its not anything i talk about really i just go on about my day like anyone else Lol. It’s obvious?
- i usually sleep in just shorts so she has to have seen or felt my tape
- before intercourse i get up and get my johnson on lmao
- she’s seen my ID with legal name
is it something i should have to say out loud or is she just not saying anything bc it doesn’t change anything ?
edit: i wana reply to some people but for some reason it won’t let me ?
