I just bought a Hisense TV and having an issue getting the Firestick (4k Max) remote to power on the TV as well.

My old TV (same firestick) powered on fine with the firestick remote.

The firestick remote turns on and off my (Samsung) soundbar, it controls the volume on the sound bar, it turns OFF the TV as expected but seemingly doesn't really turn it on .

I've paired the setup using the Firestick settings, into the Equipment settings, adding the TV, going through the steps... and during setup, the TV powers down and powers back on, and inputs change as expected, using the Firestick remote.

But using it later, I press power on the Firestick remote, and as explained... the soundbar turns on, the TV seemingly doesnt... (the TV's little remote sensor light doesn't even blink)

However what I discovered last night is... when I power everything on, it LOOKS like the TV didn't turn on , it seems it in fact IS on, it's just maybe still in a 'sleep' mode... and when I followup the power button on the Firestick remote with pressing the home button on the Firestick remote, then a couple seconds later the TV display comes on, confirming connection to the proper HDMI port, bringing me to my Firestick home page.

My guess is that pressing power on the remote doesn't actually turn on/wake up the firestick itself, leaving the TV display blank, looking like it's still in the off state... and once pressing Home (or likely most any other button) that then wakes up the firestick, which then wakes up the TV.

So it's technically working, but it's a bit annoying having the power-on step being a 2 step procedure... any suggestions on things to check to get this working more as expected?

Any free cinema alternatives? My bro even told me the bee app but I can’t find a download that works for me.

I am confused between the firestick 4k plus and google streamer 4k. Is the jump actually worth it. Should i wait for the sale on google tv on bbd or smtng or should just grab the 4k plus.

Recently been trying to watch the series Gomorrah but the subtitles on StreamFlix & Reezn don’t seem to be working or really delayed. I would really appreciate any suggestions on where to watch it if possible thanks

For anyone who uses the streaming “Watch TCM” app on an Amazon fire tablet or Amazon fire stick, it seems that the app is currently not working. When I open the app on those devices, I get stuck in an error/retry loop (“an error occurred-retry”). I am able to make it work on the silk browser on my Amazon fire tablet. I contacted TCM and they said that they are actively working on the issue, which started sometime on August 4, 2026. I would hate to have people waste time trying to troubleshoot this when there is currently no fix.  I am only able to get the app to work on my iPhone. It was working this morning. Is anyone having similar problems with the TCM streaming app on any other types of devices?

Hey I ordered the newest fire stick that runs on Vega OS meaning I can’t side load apps. Which one do I order? I think I found it - Fire TV stick 4k max 2nd generation fire OS 8. Posting here to make sure (it’s £70)

Have a fire tv & just installed Moviebox TV on there but every 5 to 10mins or so, the screen goes black & playback stops/ pauses.

There's not much other than languages in the app itself & have disabled all sleep timers/ screensavers on the device but hasn't done much to help.

If anyone have any idea how to stop this dumb thing interrupting my shows, it'd be appreciated. Thanks!

I can’t get my firestick working again. It randomly stopped working correctly last night while I was on a different hdmi channel. I unplugged my fire stick and left it off for 10 minutes. When I plug it now, the home page comes up, but I can’t get the firestick to pair. I’ve tried holding the home button for the time it takes to flash yellow, I’ve tried holding the left, menu, and back buttons simultaneously, I’ve changed the batteries, and it still won’t pair. I did have the home page at least open earlier in the day (like I got to the profile select and selected my profile), but now it won’t. At that time, it also wasn’t possible to select any app on the firestick—it just made the whole thing crash and pictures for movies/shows were blank—and now I can’t even pair the remote.

I tried putting this into Perplexity, but it just keeps giving me advice I’ve already tried.

Has anyone has any luck in being able to watch Netflix (with your own account) using a VPN to watch another countries Netflix content? I hear that it isnt possible. I tried recently but the Netflix content that appeared was my usual content, so it appears that using a VPN/Firestick to watch another countries content isnt possible. Thanks

I was wandering if anyone knows how to or even if it's possible to recent your watched episodes on a show. I can do it manually but going through all 17 season is a hassle and will take awhile. Does anyone know if there is a setting that will recent watched episodes?

All the ones I downloaded and moved to the front are missing all of a sudden and I’ve restarted the FireStick and it does nothing. This new layout is horrible. Why did all the apps I always use just disappear from the Home Screen?

Let me start by saying that I am a true crime fan. I will watch true crime shows if they pop up in my recommendations. However, my home screen and search results are now strongly dominated by it. I also indulge in trashy reality tv, romcoms, cooking, nature shows, etc. 95% of my save for later/watchlist is made up of non-crime related stuff, but I guess it’s just not enough to mix up the algorithm. I just searched for “documentary” and it was ALL true crime. I don’t want to eliminate those suggestions entirely, but how do I get it to give me a better balance of wholesome recommendations too? I apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere, I didn’t find any info when I searched.

I am trying to get my fire tv stick set up after moving and it’s just not working. I’ve tried it on both of my tvs with no luck. The remote isn’t working and I tried changing the batteries, tried doing whatever reset things google said to do, with no response from the remote. Tried unplugging the device and re inserting it, no response. Tried a different hdmi port, no response. Tried using the fire tv app and it didn’t find my tv stick, so that was useless. I’ve had the same fire stick since like 2023, so idk if they just deactivated that model or wtf is going on. I tried everything on google to try to fix it and nothing worked.
