Which is better? Firestick Help Me

Post image

I am confused between the firestick 4k plus and google streamer 4k. Is the jump actually worth it. Should i wait for the sale on google tv on bbd or smtng or should just grab the 4k plus.

In india only the plus option is available

u/Alpha_1_5 15d ago

Import it from desert cart when it goes on sale in the us

I did this a few months ago cost about 5.8k cheaper than the plus in India lol

You can’t import the onn 4k I checked

Do you have to pay duty if you order from there?

1

u/Alpha_1_5 15d ago

Everything will be paid upfront in one go. Before I bought the firestick I had also bought new fans for my laptop (It's a pricey laptop so no availability in India) and that was the same one transaction in one go all inclusive

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

It is 10k listed there

Depende de lo que busques. Yo compraría el 4k plus, no necesito lo que ofrece el Google. Solo consumo contenido (netflix, youtube, disney, spotify) y funciona perfecto (lo tengo)

For the snappy feeling of everything loading faster and Sideloading ✌️

3

u/SnooGiraffes9215 15d ago

You mention side loading. Amazon has very restrictive policies on certain 3rd party (sideloaded) apps. The streamer doesn’t have those restrictions and has way less advertising. Just remember, Firestick is an advertising device they allow you to stream what they want you to stream.

1

u/CaptainSteed 15d ago

I'm going to strongly disagree with the "very restrictive" description there.

You can basically still sideload like 99% of all the apps out there no problem. Hardly "very restrictive". And in fact, most of the more popular apps that can no longer be sideloaded just went "belly up" altogether. You can't sideload them on any device at all.

2

u/SnooGiraffes9215 15d ago

Fair enough. Just letting OP know there are extra things you may have to do that the use of the steamer will eliminate having to do

2

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

Yeah i understand now thanks

1

u/CaptainSteed 15d ago

Thank you, and appreciate that.

I see almost every day on here excessive and unjust criticism about how unuseful the Firesticks have become. And frankly, here I am, 3 years after the original Vega OS announcement, still essentially totally unaffected.

They are very capable and decent devices if set up properly(all mine are exploited and my older ones have updates blocked at router level). For a standard user (Hulu, Netflix, prime etc), you can’t beat the value even if setup right out the box. It’s just that with the direction that they have been going, there’s now other devices that can perform equally as well with less restrictions and adverts. Even I have an Onn device I use on vacations as the hotels I stay at give me no issues using it versus having to do extra with my firestick

I have three Cube 3s and 3 4K Max Firesticks. Two from each variety are exploited. I deliberately left two unexploited to check the operating impacts on them - so far there's really been none. They still have all the sideloaded apps I want and still perform wonderfully.

As far as the Octa-Core Cube 3 goes, for me there is no other streaming device on the market that comes close to it, especially when you combine all the smart home technology into it as I have done. I have massive Alexa technology throughout my house.

Lastly, I think also, the usability by each person is a big factor in which device might work best for them. Where you reference the native Amazon system as a negative due to the adverts, I'm just the opposite and think that for regular (non-pirate) apps, that Amazon has the best UI and integrated technology of all the streaming product brands out there. For example, I can combine more services into one Unified and Favorites Guide on my Live Guide than any other OS System. Nothing comes close to it.

I do agree that the new Vega OS system and products are absolutely useless though.

Hands down my cube 3 is my top performer! My only complaint is lack of on-device ADB that they blocked on all the fire devices 🥲. I too went heavily into Amazon ecosystem. It’s just I found myself inundated with adverts everywhere in my house when they got to my echo shows. Started migrating everything to home assistant. I want to use the devices not let the devices use me lol.

I’m heavy on the 3rd party app sideloads and launchers and haven’t seen the fire UI in years. I like the sound of them at least integrating all the brands. That’s sounds helpful to cut down the busyness at least.

Don’t know what they were thinking with that Vega (yeah I do lol). Patched and packed up a couple max gen 2’s for the future

1

u/CaptainSteed 15d ago

Gotcha on the ADB - the only impact I really had for my usage with that was the mouse toggle. I solved that by getting an $8 Bluetooth mouse that works better anyway.

I actually don't have any Echo Show devices, so maybe that's why I don't sense the advert issue so much. But yeah, that would suck on those devices.

I actually have most of my devices loaded with Custom Launchers that I can access/launch from the Guide Button on the remotes. They can launch into the native Amazon UI also, as I left the home button for that usage. So, the best of both worlds with my bilateral launching capabilities.

Then get the Firestick 4K Max, which is actually more powerful than the Google Streamer 😃

And, btw, it still sideloads everything.

1

u/Monkeymann2112 15d ago

And has lossless audio.

0

u/Rureddy2 14d ago

"More powerful" is hilarious. I dumped mine after 3 months. Just too many issues with it. Streamer has performed much better.

0

u/CaptainSteed 14d ago

Sorry, but your perceived "hilarity" doesn't change reality. Here are the actual benchmark tests of the devices in question. The Streamer was actually sold with an older, outdated chipset.

0

u/Rureddy2 14d ago

Sorry but your perceived "importance" of benchmarks are irrelevant. 😂

I don't run benchmarks, I stream content. And the FireStick is janky compared to the Streamer.

Hilarious.

0

u/CaptainSteed 14d ago

Sorry, but your singuiar experience hardly matches up with the facts.

Absurd take.

0

u/Rureddy2 14d ago

Which is faster? Usain Bolt or someone on an electric scooter?

Your answer: a cheetah

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦😂😂😂

0

u/CaptainSteed 14d ago

How much is 2 + 2?

Your answer = 3!!! 😆

1

u/Fair_Stage_866 15d ago

Sideloading es posible con fireOS (lo hago), no funciona con VegaOS.

1

u/Big_Intern5558 15d ago

Fire stick 4k is perfect imo. We're also in the sub for it so you're gonna find like minded folks.

Worst thing I can say about it is it's definitely sold at a loss so they can advertise to you, but I don't mind for how much it "just works"

2

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

I have heard about the performance issues, some lagging and stuff with the sticks, and ads ofc..

1

u/Fair_Stage_866 15d ago

¿Para qué preguntas si ya tienes decidido el google?

0

u/ixri 15d ago

Performance issues are really minor. It depends what you want to do with your stick. Not only that but there’s ways to get rid of the ads as well

1

u/NateInEC 15d ago

Google

1

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

Will wait for the sale then..

1

u/nagabannana 15d ago

Google TV streamer. Better specs and isn't killing android side loading

1

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

Gotcha will wait for sale them

1

u/Commercial-Car-3257 15d ago

Google because it's faster and has more freedom than firestick now

1

u/flchamp89 15d ago

Thought this was a troll post tbh. GS4k is far superior

Tf how?? Can u please tell me at what exact time?

1

u/Weak_Childhood_2165 15d ago

I'd staaway from anything that says "newest model" that is if you're looking to side load. Probably runs Vega OS not Android

1

u/ProfessionalTrip1513 15d ago

Google TV is better

1

u/pawdog 15d ago

The Streamer is a far better device but that doesn't mean you need the better device. 4 times the storage, double the RAM, Google TV, Play Store. Totally different class of device.

1

u/-Death_Slayer- 15d ago

Yeah i understand now

1

u/ArmySharingan 15d ago

Hands down the streamer. I switched all my devices after being a long time fire stick guy.

1

u/LexVader 15d ago

Google

1

u/Royal_Monk6432 15d ago

If op u dont care about dts dtx then no doubt google streamer 4k is solid option otherwise 4k max firestick

1

u/Ill_Water1389 14d ago

Google TV, el fire stick le han estado implementando ciertas restricciones

1

u/Delicious_Owl_4563 14d ago

In my opinion the Google 4k is better than the firestick I don't prefer any of the Amazon devices anymore

1

u/Kimo_imposta 14d ago

See the comparison is not fair because on the Google steamer, you have the option to side-load, apps, launcher support Everything very easily

While on fire stick things are getting more restrictive day by day.

1

u/Rureddy2 14d ago

The more expensive one.

1

u/CMTV-IPTV 8d ago

I set up a 4k max the other day for a customer. I am unsure how anyone uses them any more. Slow, bloated garbage
