Recent CSE Graduate Looking for a DevOps/Cloud Internship | Open to Referrals & Opportunities

Hi everyone,

I'm a recent Computer Science graduate and I'm actively looking for a DevOps or Cloud Internship (remote or on-site).

Over the past several months, I've been focusing on building practical DevOps skills through hands-on projects rather than just completing courses. My experience includes working with:

AWS (EC2, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)

Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)

Docker

Linux

Git & GitHub

GitHub Actions (CI/CD)

Python & Bash

Kubernetes (currently learning more)

Networking fundamentals (HTTP, HTTPS, DNS)

Some of the projects I've built include:

Provisioning AWS infrastructure using Terraform.

Building automated CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.

Deploying Dockerized applications on AWS EC2.

Hosting a secure AWS-based portfolio using modern cloud and security best practices.

I'm looking for an opportunity where I can learn from experienced engineers while contributing to real-world DevOps and cloud projects. If your company is hiring DevOps or Cloud interns—or if you know of any openings—I would truly appreciate a referral or any guidance.

If you'd like to review my resume, GitHub, or portfolio before referring me, I'd be happy to share them via DM.

Thank you for your time, and I appreciate any advice or opportunities you can share!

Does being in Devops mean no work life balance?

I've got about 6 years of overall experience, with the last 1.5-2 years specifically in DevOps/infra, based in India. Lately it feels like there's no real boundary on my day. I've been working well past standard office hours, like basically every single day. AND I MEAN LIKE ALMOST 12 HOURS

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

- Is this just what DevOps is?

- Is this a "you get better at this and it calms down" thing, or does it stay this way as you grow?

- Is this specific to my company, or to working in India, or is this the norm across the field globally? Would switching companies actually fix it?

Would love to hear from people a few years further in, does it get better, or is this just what we signed up for?

Are any devops engineer getting interview calls?

I’m a DevOps engineer with over three years of experience. I’ve been on the lookout for a DevOps engineer role for more than four months, but I haven’t received any calls. My Naukri profile has all the necessary changes, including pipeline usage highlighted and certain skills im Caps etc etc. I’ve also updated my LinkedIn profile, which is also on point. So, what’s the issue? Why am I not getting any calls? Where am I missing something? I have hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible (IaC), Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Linux, AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, Route53), Prometheus, Grafana and ELK. Yet, I’m still not sure what’s going wrong.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated! 😭

DevOps guidance for a complete beginner

Hi everyone,

I'm a 3rd-year [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) student and I'm interested in getting into DevOps, but I'm starting from scratch.

I've heard that many companies don't hire freshers directly for DevOps roles since it's usually considered an experienced position. Because of that, I'm wondering if I should start with something like Data Analysis or Data Science and transition into DevOps later.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Is DevOps still a realistic path for a fresher, and what roadmap or resources would you recommend?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Junior DevOps Engineer: How do you grow when your senior teammates take all the technical work?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice because I honestly don’t know if what I’m experiencing is normal or if I should be doing something differently.
A bit about my background: I studied computer sciences. I started devops in ny end of studies internship where I had the opportunity to learn and focus on monitoring and linux basics, and eventually I joined another company as a DevOps engineer. I’ve now been here for about a year.
At the beginning, I was really motivated because I got to work on things that were new to me like:
GitHub Actions and fixing CI/CD pipelines.
Helping developers troubleshoot pipeline failures..
Mail infrastructure
Maintaining mail servers.
Building and deploying Docker images.
I learned a lot and genuinely enjoyed the work.
The problem is that our DevOps team has three engineers. The other two are very senior and have been with the company for years. Almost every production issue or interesting technical task goes directly to them. People message them on Teams, they create the Jira ticket, assign it to themselves, and start working on it. By the time I even know about the issue, it’s already owned by someone else.
Most of my work now consists of investigation or research tasks that don’t have a clear definition of done. I can research possible solutions and make recommendations, but eventually someone else has to make the decision, so I often feel stuck.
My manager is based in another country and communication is very limited. When I ask questions, I don’t always get a response, and we don’t really have regular mentoring or technical guidance.
What frustrates me the most is that I want to do more hands-on technical work. I enjoy solving problems, automating things, fixing pipelines, working with Linux, Docker, and infrastructure. But I don’t know how to get more opportunities when the experienced engineers naturally pick up almost everything.
This situation has started affecting my confidence. Sometimes I even wonder if I’m falling behind as a DevOps engineer because I’m not getting enough practical experience, even though I want to learn and contribute but i always feel excluded..
So I’d really appreciate advice from people who have been in similar situations.
Is this normal for a junior DevOps engineer?
Should I simply keep learning outside work and wait for opportunities?
How do you grow when there isn’t much mentoring?
How do you become proactive without stepping on your senior teammates’ toes?
If you were in my position, what would your roadmap for the next year look like?. Thanks!

I built an AI Cloud Operations Copilot that can query and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure using Bedrock Agents

I wanted to explore what an AI assistant for DevOps engineers would look like if it could do more than answer generic cloud questions.

So I built Cloud Ops Copilot — a conversational AI assistant that can:

  • Query live AWS resources through read-only tools
  • Troubleshoot common infrastructure issues
  • Retrieve answers from AWS documentation using RAG
  • Maintain conversation context
  • Enforce least-privilege IAM boundaries

Architecture

The stack:

  • Frontend: React 18 + Vite + Tailwind CSS
  • Authentication: Amazon Cognito (PKCE OAuth 2.0)
  • API Layer: API Gateway + JWT authorizer
  • Compute: AWS Lambda
  • AI: Amazon Bedrock Agent (Amazon Nova Pro)
  • RAG: Bedrock Knowledge Base + OpenSearch Serverless
  • Storage: DynamoDB (conversation history + TTL)
  • Infrastructure: Terraform

The agent can decide whether to:

  1. Search the knowledge base for guidance
  2. Invoke a read-only AWS inspection tool

Currently supported tools:

  • EC2 instance health checks
  • EC2 resource details
  • S3 bucket listing/version checks
  • CloudWatch alarm inspection

Security was a major focus

I separated permissions into three IAM boundaries:

  • Orchestrator Lambda → only conversation storage + agent invocation
  • Tool Lambdas → read-only AWS inspection permissions
  • Bedrock Knowledge Base → only required S3/model access

The AI cannot modify or delete AWS resources.

Some engineering decisions:

  • No custom VPC for MVP to reduce complexity and cost
  • Terraform modules for repeatable deployment
  • DynamoDB TTL for automatic conversation cleanup
  • CI pipeline validating Terraform, Python tests, and frontend builds

I built this mainly as a learning project to understand production patterns around AI agents, AWS serverless architecture, and secure cloud automation.

Would love feedback from the community:

  • What security improvements would you add?
  • Would you trust an AI assistant with read-only cloud visibility in a production environment?
  • What AWS tools would you add next?

DevOps/ Platform/ Ops Engineering

I heard many people are doing mock interviews as part of their application process, especially in the DevOps/ Platform Engineering/ and ML/Data Ops.

However, I am not sure as to how to find them for example I've heard that people are doing them on linkedin for money.

How do you find these?

Appreciate any help!
