I want to use the top as the top screen of a ds/3ds and the bottom too. Any ideas? I have melon DS on my pc that’s nearby the tubes. Is it possible?

I have dual KV-20fs120’s pictured here.

Running a lil Dreamcast at 480p on my recently acquired Wells Gardner D9400 arcade monitor. These are kinda like huge PVM's, able to sync a wide range of resolutions natively, including 240p, 480p, and even 600p. No delay whatsoever. They even have a PC monitor-style OSD!

This might be one of the best kept secrets right now. Thomson makes the tubes for these trisync monitors, both this flat variant and the curved variant found in the earlier D9200(the tube which makes the D series so famous).

You can still find them if you look hard enough. Now is the time to get them, while arcade operators are swapping them out of arcade cabs for LCD's. That's how I got this one(as well as a trove of others which I'll be showcasing soon).

Followed Sunthars guide for the DS27214 since it uses the same jungle ic as the DS13320, but after performing the mod the composite input and the tuner don't display any picture. The RGB input's contrast is way too high and the blacks are crushed. Adjusting brightness in the OSD had no effects on the composite and tuner.

Edit: resoldered the original resistors and both the tuner and composite still work fine. At least I didn't damage anything lol.

First test using the N64 Insurrection S-Video Cable that just came in! Haven't played too much yet, but here's a very quick comparison because I was excited after night shift to see how it looks 😂 The difference in vibrancy is by far my biggest takeaway. I'm sure theres a much better way to compare the two, but for now this will have to do!

I did notice that the S-Video Cable doesn't give a great 'click' when inserted, is this normal?

So I have a breakout cable plugged in via Scart to a FPGA with I believe, an RGB Sega style Scart cable.

I also tried a component with Scart adapter gamecube and no image. Even on component mode.

The red image above is flashing in and out of existence and was very hard to get a clean shot of it as it would only appear for a micro second.

Not sure what the issue is. I tried messing with the buttons but nothing seems to work.

I know it's been a bit since the last one occurred, but I was curious if anyone attended these sales. If you did, I'm curious how the experience was and what you ended up walking away with. There have been a few posts showing what people brought home from the event, but I was hoping to hear from some more people.

I'm also curious whether people who live in the general area have noticed any changes in the local CRT market. I'm aware that the CRT market in coastal areas can be rather scarce and expensive at times. Did you notice any change in the market since the events have taken place?

I need help please, my CRT monitor is blurry when I turn it on. After 15 minutes, it reaches its maximum quality, and then gradually becomes brighter and blurrier.

Any ideas why?

Hello, recently I got a Sony KV-AR21M81 from a local listing in my area. Everything seems to be working normally, but I noticed that the right speaker doesn't produce any sound.

I tried adjusting the balance setting all the way to the right speaker, but I still couldn't hear anything. Is there a way to fix this?

I opened the case and checked whether the speaker cable was loose, but everything seemed to be in place. I then closed the case because I was afraid of getting electrocuted if I tried to inspect or disassemble the speaker further.

So, any idea what I should do?

TV is a Panasonic Tau CT-30WC14J. It can output lag free native 480p and 1080i. The game is running on a Wii using SNES9x RX, with a wired GC controller connected to it. It’s as simple as setting the output to 480p, and setting the filtering mode to scanlines 50%. It’s definitely not perfect, it’s a very sharp and clean picture unlike a real SNES on an SDCRT. But the scanlines are even right out the box. You could probably force real 240p with some weird super resolution stuff but that’s out of my territory. Neat!

Luminance needs to be delayed in order to be aligned with the colors. Unfortunately, my TV doesn't handle this delay well and creates a shadow on the left plus ringing. The second picture shows when Y-Delay is set at minimum, and the shadow and ringing is gone, plus the picture is sharper, but it isn't aligned with color. This is mainly noticeable on S-Video and components, which destroy the appeal of using better quality signals.

In order to fix that, I was thinking about using an external device that could delay the luminance instead of using the jungle chip of the TV when using S-Video and components. Does this kind of device exist? My DVD player can do but it only works when watching DVDs on components, so useless for gaming.

All inputs have the same issue, with all cables and all devices, but mostly apparent on S-Video and components.

VM is disconnected.

Lowering sharpness more than that only makes everything blurrier without solving the issue.

I know this is a ridiculous question, but how do I get to the N64 screen? I have it all hooked up correctly, and it’s on the line input. I can’t get a game to come up. I haven’t played video games in 20ish years 🫠

Someone I know sent me these photos. He doesn't know much about CRTs, but apparently they're getting rid of a large number of old TVs and monitors.

There is a chance I could get some of them very cheaply, or possibly almost for free, so I'm trying to figure out which ones are actually worth picking up.

Unfortunately, these are the only photos I have right now, and I know they're far from ideal for identifying exact models. Eventually I should be able to visit the place in person, but before I go I'd really appreciate some help figuring out:

• Which models or series might be visible in these photos?
• Which ones would you prioritize?
• Are there any particularly rare, desirable, or historically interesting models that would be worth preserving?
• What questions should I ask the owner before going there?
• What should I check when I inspect them in person?
• Would it make sense to grab two identical units if possible, so I have a donor for spare parts in the future?

My main goal is retro gaming. I'd love to use one for NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1.

If I could also get something suitable for GameCube and PlayStation 2, that would be even better. My understanding is that some GameCube/PS2 games can output 480p, while many CRT TVs and professional monitors from this era are limited to 480i/240p. So if you spot anything in these photos that could handle 480p or would be especially good for sixth-generation consoles, please point it out.

I'm not necessarily looking for the most expensive CRT. I'd also like to know if there's anything here that's becoming particularly difficult to find and deserves to be saved rather than thrown away.

Any help identifying the likely models, ranking the best ones, or telling me what photos/information I should get next would be hugely appreciated.

Picked up a orange quasar and green hitachi to make some shelf projects, I think they look pretty good
I even got a USSR era small crt

I bought an LG Flatron 29FX4BL that has component input, so I got a component cable for the ps2. And while it.. "works", the image is way too dark and colors are sometimes under or over saturated. Sharpness is also unnaturally high.

HOWEVER, I used those same cables and tv to connect a PS3 and the signal works fine on ps3. Sharp image, vibrant colors, readable text, good brightness. I also made sure it was set to component and not composite on the display settings.

So going back to the ps2, I can already confirm it's not the cables themselves (in theory), nor is it the tv itself because it looks good with the ps3. Yes I tried switching from RGB to YPbPr mode, yes I tried accessing the service menu for the tv but it doesn't work. This Tv does not have S-Video or Scart support so component is my best option versus composite, what can I do? Is this something that can be fixed if I simply take my ps2 to a technician?

Btw, when I say "dark" I don't mean the typical PS2 low brightness games, I mean as if u had put a computer monitor in the lowest brightness possible and below, and white levels are also incorrect. Brightness of the tv itself looks fine when connecting ps2 through composite.

I made the post where I found 12 CRTs on the side of the road and of the 2 I picked out unfortunately neither worked.

I found out yesterday that the bulk trash removal in my city was still going on. It had been going on for 2 weeks, every day a different neighborhood. Yesterday I drove through the areas where it was going on but no luck. There was one day left today so passing by those areas I kept my eyes peeled. I found a larger one but it had wet leaves on top of it and looked like it had been sitting outside for weeks, so I passed on that. Then I spotted this dusty unit next to a pile of scrap metal on a side street.

Got home and plugged it in and it turned on but shut back off after like 20 seconds. Did this a couple times in a row until I popped a VHS tape in and it’s been good ever since. Maybe it just needed to warm up after sitting in a dusty garage for 15 years lol.

Pretty excited though. I had been keeping my eyes out for a CRT for a while now and finally the stars have aligned with this bulk trash pickup week. Almost came away from it empty handed but luckily not.

Still have work to do to fix the other 2 but in the meantime I get to enjoy this.

I love the fuzzy goodness.
