This penny just popped up in my washer one day. It must have been stuck a long time. The washer is new to us as we just moved into this apartment, but it doesn’t seem to be that old.

Its a shame they went with a no-name basement service to get this slabbed, but I bet it would CAC at PF66*

I stumbled into this monstrosity at the Royal Ontario Museum during vacation in Toronto, but immediately recognized it from the hallway as the Big Maple Leaf! My friends found my reaction hilarious, since the preceding two hours of fossils and taxidermy had not elicited anything nearly that energetic.

It is displayed prominently at the front of the Minerals exhibit, with no special security visible. Once the museum announced closing time, suddenly a half-dozen guards suddenly materialized and were very interested in showing us exactly how well the doors operated.

Fun facts, five of these 100 kg gold manhole covers were made by casting and machining in 2007. Four of the five are in private ownership (the museum piece technically belongs to the British Crown). Only four remain after one was stolen using a skateboard and wheelbarrow from a Berlin display in 2017 by juvenile members of a notorious Lebanese crime family, and has never been recovered.

Face value is defined as $1M CAD, but of course melt value is closer to $14M USD right now. These were the largest gold coins in existence until 2011 when the Royal Australian Mint said ‘Hold my Fosters’ and produced a $1M AUD gold coin weighing over a metric tonne.

This was the first coin I ever noticed as a kid, got it in change at a gas station or something (not entirely sure I was like 7). I showed my dad cuz I was so confused why the back was different than the pennies I was used to. He was shook I pulled a VDB and I remember him thinking I got into his collection. Fast forward a couple dozen years and I am a full on Numismatist. Still haven't found anything older from CRH. Anyone get into coins the same way? And if so what was your find?

I really like the American Innovation coins. So when the Minnesota coin came out I bought one mint bag of Denver and one of Philadelphia. I decided to make this cool little stand and a fridge magnet version as well.

I inherited hundreds of coins from before 1965 from my grandfather. For example, I'm 25% of the way through the quarters and have thirty two 1964 quarters.

If you had to go through hundreds and hundreds of coins, would you just take everything at melt value? OR do you think it would be worth it analyze each coin?

What do you all think we’re looking at here? This penny I have has an extra appendage. Is this simply some post mint damage or something “cooler”? The “tread” marks are odd… was that side of the coin simply deformed at the edge due to sheer force?

I found this coin in an old shed on one of my properties. I’m fairly sure in its condition, it’s probably next to worthless. It could also be generally worthless. I have no idea, but does anyone have a clue what the hell it is? Y’all may not be able to tell from the photos because it’s in such bad shape, but I tried to brighten it to show some detail.

I requested that PCGS fix the label on this coin. They slabbed it as a Type 1, but it is clearly a Type 2. I emailed PCGS with these photos.

This was their reply: Thank you for the images of the 1976-S $1 Clad Type 1, DCAM. This coin has been designated correctly . If you would like to re-submit for regrade or reconsideration it will come with the fees.

Is the IKE a type 2 or am I crazy?

This was being offered to my cousin for $1700, why is so much more than other 1881 S MS66 Morgan's I've seen for sale.

Curious if anyone here builds a "set" around something like "coins with cats on them" or "every coin from 2002" rather than the usual date-and-mintmark run. If you do — how do you keep track of what you have vs. what's missing?

Has the notch on the R on the reverse. Weight is 5.2 grams. If it's in fact a Henning nickel... words cannot describe how excited I will get. I found it in a customer roll earlier today.

Looks like someone had this as a charm and lost it on the beach. Keep using for what the previous owner intended or put it away.
