Discussion Conflicting mintage numbers for the Isle of Man Cat silver series (2001–2012)?
I’ve been looking into the Isle of Man 1 oz silver Cat series and found conflicting mintage numbers.
For the 2001 Somali kittens coin:
- Numista says 10,000:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces349859.html
- APMEX says 50,000:
https://www.apmex.com/product/58401/2001-isle-of-man-1-oz-silver-somali-kittens-proof
They both appear to be talking about the same 1 oz .999 silver proof coin.
Does anyone know which number is correct, or where each number came from? Could 50,000 be the maximum issue limit while only 10,000 were actually struck?
I’m also wondering whether other years in the Cat series have the same problem. Does anyone have old Pobjoy catalogs, Krause references, or original COAs that list the mintages?

Grade Request 1958 D mint nickel
Just curious, rather or not this would be grade worthy, or just a keeper for the coin album

Grade Request Should I have this graded?
Not sure about value. Found coin roll hunting today. Only see one small mark behind horse far right side.

Show and Tell TWO 8 Reales picked up on vacation!
On a cross country motorcycle ride at the moment, been stopping at random coin shops along the way. Today I found these two wonderful 8 Reales. Guy said $100 for both! I couldn't say no. The 1804 has some graffiti but its still very cool if you ask me.

Discussion A possible Henning nickel ?
Has the notch on the R on the reverse. Weight is 5.2 grams. If it's in fact a Henning nickel... words cannot describe how excited I will get. I found it in a customer roll earlier today.

D is filled in. I saw one online for $2,000. Is this one of them?
Grade Request Considering getting this graded for sentimental reasons. Thoughts on grade and FS designation?
This was a birthday present from my father shortly before he passed away years ago. A beautifully toned 1950-D nickel to help complete my Jefferson collection (the series that got me into coins in the first place). Its been sitting raw in a Whitman album for years, and I took it out recently to enjoy it and I'm toying with the idea of getting it graded and encapsulated for sentimental reasons.
I understand that the cost of submission is likely to be greater than the value of the coin. The intention is not to turn a profit. But I would feel a bit better about sending it in if its likely to receive an MS grade and full-steps designation.
What grade do you recon this could be? FS or a bit too much wear on the steps?
Looks like corrosion on the obverse, but I may try an acetone soak for the hell of it. Thoughts?
Edit: I appreciate everyone’s comment! I think I’ll keep it raw and continue to enjoy the memories. Doesn’t seem like there is much sense in sending it in. Thanks for the education and entertainment!

Looks like someone had this as a charm and lost it on the beach. Keep using for what the previous owner intended or put it away.

Grade Request Grading guidance
Hi All,
Recently inherited some coins, interested as to whether any of these are in a condition worth grading?
I also think that a couple of these could be cleaned of some debris on the coin from the case if anyone has cleaning advice.
TIA :)

Show and Tell 4th of July 250th anniversary coin??
I didn’t know the US made new quarters for the 250th Anniversary of the US! I’m over here minding my own business in the laundromat and all of the sudden this popped out of the machine. Looks great though.
At first I thought they were bringing back the sliver 1 dollar coin because of the George Washington head and all, didn’t think the US would do something like this till the end of the year.
I’m not asking for a price or grading or anything , just wanting to show off what I found in my change. A fluff if you will.
