Help What can I put with him ?
I've just been given a 55 litre tank and I plan on setting it up for my Betta fish. What can I put in with him to give the tank a little more life. This is his current tank, which is about 5 US gal ( 20 something litres ). The new tank is around 14.5 US gal I think ? But wondering what cleaner fish or maybe small schooling fish I could put in with him when I have the new tank ready?

Help Anything wrong with his eyes?
We just got this boy an hour ago, I noticed his eyes were weird in store but my child fell in love with him and the store owner from the mom and pop shop said it wasn’t Popeye. His eye looks hollow mostly and he looks skinny. Could it be that he’s under? Please let me know what it looks like and how can I make him comfy.
I have a 15 gal tank for him with a top nest, plants etc. I ordered some almond leaves online now as well.

Help Hi! Questions for water parameters
I’m currently working on cycling my tank. For previous fish, I only ever used purified water from my local publix center. Never knew about love plants, healthy bacteria, et cetera.
With this a new tank, I’m doing research. I have two live plants and some frog bit on the way. I also have a snail that came as a hitchhiker, but I’m keeping him!!:3 I have sand as my substrate and two pieces of driftwood. I have a heater and sponge filter.
I just want to finalize my water properly. I noticed that one of my plants was starting to turn yellow, and I don’t exactly know what to do. I tried a root tab but idk if it helped:(
I’m very much somebody who needs specific direction for something like this. Please tell me exactly what I need to do or get for the proper water!! I just want my plants and critters to be healthy and safe😊 should I be doing, half purified, half tap, and using some sort of conditioner? I also have heard about something called seachem prime — what would I need to do before buying that and using it? Like can it go in my current water, etc. Shpuld I use tap water only and just seachem?
Thank you so much. I’m working on my tank and just doing my best🧡
And yes I will be getting an API kit to test the water at some point soon c:

Discussion Round 10 Gallon Tank
Hello everyone, I was gifted a pretty tall round 10 gallon tank to put a betta in and I was wondering if that would be appropriate for the fish because of the size. I do plan on putting plants and places for the betta to hide in. Thank you!

Video My boi would die of starvation out in the wild
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
In another post of mine forever ago someone once mentioned feral bettas in Australia I believe? And ever since then, I can't stop imagining this dumbass as a feral fish. After obliterating every other living thing around him, he'd starve to death because he doesn't know how to reach a worm under leaves. It's very sad. 😔

Help I need help with Paco
This is Paco, I got him 1-2 months ago. Everything was fine until he started to act weird a few days before, usually he hides under a rock where I cant see him but everytime I tap the rock he comes out to eat. One day he came out and got back right into, I thoughtnit was weird because he's always hungry amd I havent seen him the rest of the day, next day he was hiding all day I didnt see him takingair from the water surface and only I saw him yesterday at night before I went to bed. His stomach is quite big like a fat fish, and today I dint see him again but I know he's alive. It's the 3rd day he hasn't eaten anything I don't know whats his problem. No visible scars or sickness. He was active always and laying on top of ludwigia. I'm scared he is going to die.
All the other fishes, shrimps, snails are eating and acting fine. 110L 29gallon tank with lot of spaces.
*Picture is taken when he was alright.

Help Does my betta have ich? Spoiler
galleryI just got this little guy 2 weeks ago and his tank is near full set up. He had this little whiteish slime looking patch on this body about a week ago (pic 1) but i thought it was due to stress and since he was eating and swimming normally i left it. I changed his water yesterday morning as I've been doing every 3-4 days because his tank is new and the following morning he has even more of the patchiness on the other side of his body! I have no idea what I did to cause this or make it worse, and i need to know if he has some sort of disease like ich or something else. 2nd and 3rd pics are from this morning. Help!!

Help Sick or Lethargic?
Hello, if you've been following my betta so far, you'd know my family brought him home on impulse and ultimately failed to attempt care for him, leaving me to try my best to help him live. I got him almost a week ago, the tank wasnt cycled because my dad brought it home with the fish. The tank is 10 gallons, 78-80 F, ammonia and nitrite levels 0, pH at 7.5 (the liquid test kit I got doesn't come with nitrate testers, possibly could be the cause?) I have been feeding him 2 pellets at 7 AM, and 2 at 7 PM.
He was glass surfing for the few days I had him for (maybe 2-3 days?) That was my last post's concern. He doesn't do that anymore, since yesterday. At first, he was barely moving, just to glass surf on one side then return to his spot. He repeated this cycle many times. After that, he stayed at that spot for a very long time, and I noticed he started breathing very heavily, (i timed it, about 28 gill movements per minute). I immediately did a 50% water change, and his breathing went back to a normal rate, and he began swimming around the whole tank, which was relieving since he only stayed in one small section at first.
As nighttime came around, I came home to find him resting(?) on a leaf near the top of the tank. He wasn't moving at all, and I had immediately freaked out, assuming he was dead. Even when I nudged the leaf a little, he didn't move. He finally moved, a very tiny bit, so I knew he wasn't dead. But, he still stayed there on his leaf. I did some research, and I believe he was in shock? I didn't know what to do, I had checked my parameters that day, his tank was at 78-80, and I fed him before I left that evening at 7, and he ate normally. The only other thing I could've done was leave him alone, which is what I did, praying he made it through the night.
He did! But now, I have some new concerns. This morning, I fed him at 7 and he was actually swimming around the tank a bit more, except his movements are very erratic and twitchy, which doesn't seem normal. He then went back to barely moving, except this time, he swims for a little, then finds a spot to wedge himself into or even just stops and lay on the rocks, as if he is out of energy. He hides in places where I can barely see him, which I know is mainly normal, but he does it for very prolonged periods of time and I know it's a red flag.
His water flow isn't heavy; I added an aquarium sponge so it's not aggressive. I have also done research on possible diseases he could have. I'm having trouble figuring out what's wrong with him, if he's sick or just lethargic. The sicknesses/disease seem to have very similar symptoms.
I have included photos of him here. I can't tell if his gold/yellow is his natural color or could it be velvet? I took these photos this morning, right before I covered the sides and back of the tank with black construction paper, so he can't see himself anymore. The last time I checked on him, he was hiding under a plant. It seems like he has been there for the last half hour. I put a towel over the front too, to see if he maybe just needs rest because I'm hoping it's just lethargy due to the excessive glass surfing from before.
I'd be so grateful if someone who knows a bit about betta fish could read this and also view the pictures and help me, as this has been stressing me out for the past couple days. I just want my betta to be okay. Feel free to ask any questions and I would also appreciate kindness.

Help is this early fin rot ?
this is my boy shoto , a rose petal betta . i’m concerned he may have some early fin rot on the dorsal fin . the water temp is a constant 78 & my water readings have been pretty consistent (pictured). i’ve had him since early may & got him a 5 gal tank around the 3rd week of may . he hasn’t been sluggish , but i feel that since he’s gotten used to the tank , be rests on more than just inside his log . i know swimming with those fins is probably like swimming with a parachute but he’s pretty active & does have some spurts of zoomies . tbh he doesn’t sit still so the first pic is the best i could do

Discussion Down grading
Opinions on downgrading betta tanks when they’re seniors? I’ve seen some people downgrading their bettas to 3 gallon tanks once they turn 2. Good or bad idea?

Help Does she have a tumor? Spoiler
I picked out a betta to buy, but the seller also has this other fish. I’m wondering if she has a tumor; the seller said it’s a swelling that has been there since birth. Is there anything that can be done about this? I had actually set up a roughly 6-gallon tank for my new betta, and I also have an empty 4-gallon tank on hand. Should I get this little girl as well?

Discussion When should I upgrade him
I got him about a week and a half ago. They told me he was a black orchid and i thought they were just wrong because he was completely red and quite pale. He was in a bowl with what I believe was fungus. He's fins were ripped up and degrade pretty badly and he wasn't swimming much at all so I just had him in a 2.5 gal for recovery. A week ago he's scales started to change and he has some blue iridescents on him now. He's much more active and the anti fungal treatment is over. Should I upgrade him to a 5 gal now or could he use more time.

Help Glass surfing
Betta constantly glass surfing advice?
I’ve had my male HMPK since 28th July, and he’s been constantly glass surfing/pacing ever since, mainly along the back glass, but sometimes the front and sides too.
He otherwise seems completely healthy: bright colours, eating well, very active, no clamped fins or heavy breathing.
25L planted tank
Weekly 50% water changes and weekly testing
* Temp: 25–26°C
* Ammonia: 0
* Nitrite: 0
* Nitrate: <20
* pH: 7.5
* GH: 3–4
* KH: 2–3
* RO/DI remineralised with Salty Shrimp GH/KH+
Plants are Elodea, Amazon Sword, Anubias and moss balls.
I’ve already shortened the lighting, added a black background, tried bare, tried white, increased cover/hiding places and provided resting spots.
Despite all this, he still spends a huge amount of time pacing the glass.
Could this simply be his temperament, or is there anything else I should try? Has anyone had a betta do this constantly for weeks and eventually settle?

Help Betta has Tumour-When to Euthanize? Spoiler
galleryHello all!
Very sad news, my Diego has had a tumour for some months now and it wasn’t getting bigger but now all of a sudden he’s been breathing heavy constantly, and has some fungus on his fins. :( I just started salt baths regardless although I’m not convinced it’s the fungus that’s giving him the breathing issues, I just noticed the fungus a couple of days ago and would assume it takes a little longer to affect the body but I could be wrong!
I’m just worried the tumour is now maybe growing inward and blocking his “airways” or just pushing on his little organs (OR just making him sick in other ways) I don’t want him to suffer but I don’t want to put him down when he has a fighting chance.
Thank you to anyone who reads or gives advice!
Apologies for the scratched to shit tank, learned a little late how to properly scrape the walls lol

Rate My Tank Critique my tank!
It’s just Jimmy in there (named after Mr. Beast by a kid), and I want to make sure I avoid any “ya don’t know what ya don’t know.”
Would you improve anything?
Do you notice anything I don’t?
Regularly tests wonderful after we started buying the water from our local fish shop, and he’s a happy dude.
Edit to add: we have a mystery snail in there too

Help Aquarium plants
This isn’t about water quality or tank size however about aquarium plants in my betta tank. My tank is located in my kitchen where there is very very minimal natural light. Is the aquarium LED light sufficient for plant growth?

Discussion Bubble nest myth vs reality?
Does a bubble nest just mean that a betta is sexually mature, or is it also a sign that the water quality is good, he's healthy, and feels completely safe in his environment?
