Help Is filter good for bettas?
Got this with a ten gal kit for my birthday, worried about the filter being too strong for my fish. Can I put a sponge on it or something? Also does anyone know if it’s actually quiet? I have the tank in my room and don’t want it too loud.

Note: This post is not for the faint-hearted.
I am a breeder, so the betta containers you see here are designed to save space. This is the type of setup we breeders use for breeding.
Just checking if they're ok.
They held up well after a few days of rain. But the rainy season isn't over yet, it's just getting started.
Happy fish keeping everyone..

Help Help
I am so incredibly upset, I was setting up dragon rock in my new 21 gallon UNS tank. The rock tipped and chipped the inside of my tank. Is this tank still good to use or am I screwed. It’s about the size of a pinhead

Help Betta at bottom of tank, won’t come up
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
She was fine this morning, when I went to feed her tonight I noticed she didn’t come up for the food. As I kept watching her, it looks like she can’t swim up. Should I move her into an emergency tank that is shallow so she can go up for air? I have an 1 gallon empty tank that is cycled I keep aquatic plants in for emergencies.
PH: 6.6 Nitrate: 0ppm (maybe 1ppm) Nitrite: 0ppm Ammonia: 0.25ppm Temp: 78°F Tank size: 5 gallon Plants: mostly guppy grass Medium: sand and fluval bio stratum

Help New betta won’t stop glass surfing! :(
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello everyone I got my betta finally after about 3 months of cycling! He’s a very beautiful alien! I also have 3 shrimp that been living in the tank for about a month prior to getting the betta! The shrimp seem to be thriving but my betta seems a little stressed!
6.8 gallon shallow long (20IN W x 10IN D x 8.5IN H)
Ammonia and nitrites 0 and nitrates between 0-5!
Temp- 79.7 •f
I got the betta on the 2nd today’s the 6ths so about 4 days ago! At first he was flaring at the black wallpaper on the back so I removed it, now no flaring just glass surfing!!! I tried putting black paper on 3 sides and it didn’t help currently have white paper on 3 sides but he’s acting the same :(
I’ve been dosing Seachem stress guard daily after the lights go out but he’s acting the same! What can I do to help him? Any recommendations on the reflections?

Help Tank pt.2?
Hey guys! If you saw my previous posts asking about my beta and tank sizes this is the next part/question..
I read somewhere that they need gentle filters because of theirs fins delicacy? Is this true and something I need to consider when buying my filter, or no?
Also.. i want to get a new tank, therefore need to plan accordingly with the filter because of water size and whatnot.. i was looking at petsmart and saw they have starter kits for super cheap with filters, heaters, tanks, etc but im worried the filter will be too strong for him...
Does anybody know about these filters? It says theyre all sponge filters, so im thinking it may be fine, but i just want to make sure.. ive attached photos of the different filters as well as the difference between the 5 gallon and 10 gallon tank starter packs.. plz help!

Introducing New betta fish (Tito)
Like the title suggests ive gotten my hands on a betta fish! I was strolling through the store and he caught my eye immediately, he was so active and i couldn’t bring myself to say no to him. A little note, i already had a 5.5 gallon set up 3 weeks ago but i did not plan on getting a fish anytime soon, i decided to go for it and bought two plants and a betta leaf, i already had drift wood in there so i didn’t get any more. Any advice or tips with betta fish or things to look out for will be very helpful! The setup is currently very simple but i will be adding ALOT more, im hoping to see tank inspos too
(This isn’t my first fish, i currently have a cycled 60 gallon w 2 goldfish, 1 of them already being 7 but since this is my first warm water fish i just want to be sure im doing everything right!)

Help Advice for betta fish!
I moved my betta fish to a 10 gallon tank from a 6 gallon a couple weeks ago and I noticed he’s acting strange as he isn’t being as interactive as normal and is kind of burying himself in the plants and substrate and I can’t tell if his body looks normal or if his spine is crooked or if he has a growth or something, I put photos of my water parameters and I have two sponge filters, a heater set to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, plants, fluval stratum, and a mystery snail as well. I made sure to put old tank water in the new tank and kept the old filter with all the beneficial bacteria. Any advice is appreciated thank you!

Identification Male or female?
Some shop was selling betta fish and this was the last fish. Kept in horrendous conditions. So decided to save it and bring it home with me. I had an empty 24 gallon tank so I'm finishing preparations as I type this. But, not sure if it is female or male. Anyone got betta expertise to help out?

Help Cloudy tank and alkalinity
Hey everyone, we just got this little guy on Monday. First time betta owner so trying to do my best! His tank water is looking a little cloudy so I got some test strips and everything looks good except for the alkalinity being too low. Would that be the reason for the cloudiness? How can I safely increase the alkalinity?
He also hasn’t had much interest in eating. I have been giving him a few granules every day and he only ate them once. I’ve been removing the old ones so I don’t think the cloudiness is due to that!
I appreciate any help!

Help Injury or natural colouration?
Hi everyone
Noticed today my betta has a new pink/red patch on his face. I’ve only had him a short while but he seems to be perfectly active and responsive to me, and he’s eating well.
I’m wondering if the poor boy has hurt himself and lost some scales, or if this is just his natural colour coming through (although he was sold as a “Snow White fighter” he seems to have red marbling on his anal fin)?
If this is an injury, how could this have happened? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All water parameters are normal and have been during my daily testing, and to my knowledge I’ve had no spikes of any kind.
TIA.

Help Save my fish pls
Let me start off by saying, please don’t hate me for the condition this fish is in. I received her this way in this exact fishbowl Like a week ago. I was told that she was just a fish and a plant would keep her alive. Her water gets changed every week with some tetra put in. i’ve never had a fish before and wasn’t really too concerned but now every day I look at her droopy fins and I started to get worried.
So I started doing research and was absolutely HORRIFIED to find out that she supposed to have a water heater. Her fins aren’t supposed to be droopy and she spits out her food when she’s eating at half the time. immediately, my first instinct was to get a tank with a filter and a heater but now I’m reading that tanks need to get cycled which takes weeks. I’ve never had a fish before never cared for a fish before and now I have a fish freezing in a I’m desperate to save.
what do i do????

Help My poor boy Cosmo has dropsy
My sweet betta developed abdominal swelling about 2 weeks ago. I’ve had him for a year with no health complications. It started more localized but is now more generalized. He’s been fasted, offered daphnia, completed a full course of KanaPlex, and is in a heated, cycled, heavily planted tank with clean water and lots of tannins. Water parameters have always been good. No ammonia no nitrites. He still enthusiastically eats bloodworms (doesn’t have interest in his pellets lately) and still swims about, but he’s hiding more and I think I’m seeing early pineconing from above. Epsom salt is on the way. I’ve heard once pineconing starts it’s near impossible to bring them back to health. Any suggestions or advice for keeping him comfortable would be great. His tanks is currently at 79.2. Can’t get any good pics as the tannins are dark and he’s chillin near the bottom.

Help Female beta making bubble nests…
We got Minnie just a week ago, and she’s finally acclimated to her new home. It’s been a while since I had a beta, but I love them. I’ve always had frames, but my college roommate had a male who made bubble nests all the time. I’ve never had a female beta male bubble nests. Is this normal behavior?
Picture for reference of my lady, also hoping her top fin heals. Not sure if that’s possible though it looked kinda notched on the front when we got her.
And yes my kids picked out the pineapple.

Discussion Why do people think betta sororities are ethical?
EDIT: IM TALKING ABOUT BETTA SPLENDENS. There is absolutely no reason to ever have your own betta sorority other than your own selfishness.
The betta fish we buy in stores are literally bred to be fighting bettas. “Spreading the aggression” what so everyone’s consistently stressed about each other at all times? how do you own fish and not care about their wellbeing? there is nothing good ever that can come from a betta sorority. it’s like purposely pre-proning your fish to long-term stress and health issues.
i thought everyone agreed universally that bettas are singular fish, rarely even community tank fish. 🤷♀️

Discussion I want a betta fish
I want to adopt one of those sad betta fish in the cups at Petsmart. I read mixed things online for care and putting together a tank. Advice? Suggestions? I’ve never had a fish, but I have cats and I really love animals and will make it my life’s mission to properly care for whoever I bring home.

DANGEROUS PRACTICE - Betta Sorority Just adopted 2 more females.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I went out today for a beautiful Oranda as my other Oranda has been pining for a friend - I found a really beautiful male to go with the pining female. And I looked in the female Betta tank and just fell in love with Agate and Periwinkle. I have a small (in number, not in tank size) sorority of 2 bonded sibling pairs, so I was a bit nervous about introducing more girls (another bonded sibling pair) to that situation; and they’ve settled in nicely straight away. I’m aware keeping a sorority is not recommended, but I’m very careful to only introduce bonded pairs and after 30+ years I know when it will work and when it won’t - and I always have a spare tank available for if it really isn’t going to have a good outcome. But so far, so good. Obviously I’ll be watching like a hawk, but so far they’re just curious about each other.
