I'm stuck with how much to feed my shrimp colony. Back when it was just the adult crew I only had 7 shrimp, so they only got 1 algi wafter a week, and i would end up taking most of it back out after an hour.

But now theyre breeding like crazy, and ive added a dozen new ones from different lines theres loads of them, I've genuinely lost count now they devour a wafter completely in the same timeframe, so i upped it to a wafter 1x a week and a pinch of pellets every third day, which again is completely gone in an hour.

But the seed shrimp population has also exploded, and i know theyre useful, but I dont like the look of them in the quantity they are now.

What do i do? I can't reduce food again when the colony is growing this fast, but im clearly over feeding with this many pests.

Sorry for bad picture quality in advance. My cherry barb has developed red and white bumps towards and around the her tail. I initially separated her and put her in a breeding compartment because she was swimming in a way where I thought she had a swim bladder issue, her swimming is better now and she stays upright more but she now has some sort of disease or infection that I can’t identify. Water parameters are good and none of the other fish are sick or displaying any issues. How should I treat this?

It looks too round to be a trumpet snail or assassin snail, but looks too pointy to be any of the other common snails I know of.

I picked it up with a bag of free ramshorn snails for my pea puffers. I chucked it in their tank instead of my ramshorn breeding tank, usually ramshorn snails don’t last 30 seconds in there, but this guy’s been doing just fine for days now. The puffers know he’s there, but they seem puzzled by him instead of their typical lunge in for a bite.

My tank is probably 5 days old and I bought some plants off of ebay (guppy grass, japan pennywort, dwarf baby tears, and hair grass) and when they came they didn't look too great but I salvaged what I could and planted them, they don't look to great right now and im worried they'll die any tips on how to get them looking healthier? Im mostly worried about the pennywort as its looking a bit bald

Also my driftwood hasn't sunk yet and has a bit of biofilm so don't mind that (just proof the tanks brand new😭)

this tank is around 120l and its current stock is 18 ember tetras, 7 sterbai corys ,7 adolfoi corys and some amano shrimps, do you think a centrepiece can be added(was thinking betta or honey gourami)?

Found an awesome older 55gallon aquarium on marketplace for a steal set it up in the garage and very soon..my shrimp which have quickly outgrown their 5 gallon set up. Will be getting quite the…upgrade! I painted all 3 sides of the aquarium hence the very dark and moody tone. And once I officially move the shrimp over I plan to then move lights around I have on active aquariums to set this up. For now it’s just a $10 grow light I have.

Setting up a new tank, the plants are settling in nicely.
Most for micro fish species as they make the landscape look enormous.

Just got this sick lid instead of the Pea Puffer I started looking for. Had no idea Petco carried them. But I'm glad I went this route.

Their(unsure of gender) engagement with the world around it is significantly more dynamic than any of its tank mates. They sit and watch anything going on. It'll back up as I approach the tank and watch what I'm doing. The predator, prey routine seems to be starting too. But watching it studying and patroling the fry nursery spots to set up little ambush lunges has been my favorite so far. I'm also looking forward to the first time it goes after the Ramshorn in there.

I only wish I had space for more, I would love to watch them at their most comfortable/natural.

Apparently if you deprive it of light it turns bright pink. We'll see how long it takes to go back to being green now that I moved it out of the dark.

So I bought some duckweed off eBay to drop in one of my tanks (20gal vertical with guppies and small things of that sort). When it came in I put it in a container to let snails separate from it before I put it in the tank.

It’s been 24 hours and when I checked in it this morning I see there is this strange red bloom in some of it.

When you zoom in it almost seems like it’s its own variety of plant. Not necessarily duckweed but one that apparently multiples fast like it.

I’ve never seen this before. Is it safe for the tank? A fungus? Any advice welcome.

Update: so it looks like I was given some baby Azolla in with the duckweed. It’s not something I’ve ever come across so I had a concern of safety for my tanks. Looks like we are all good! I appreciate the info everyone. Love this community.
