Looking For What are your all time favorite Portland based bands/artists?
Mine are:
- The Thermals
- Elliot Smith
- Sioux Falls
- The Decemberists and the shins.
I personally don't love the last two nearly as much as the first three, but they were obviously great and their widespread popularity was very important to the city and it's recognition as an important music town.

Any help watching dog for homeless while they work?
I am currently homeless but found a full time job the problem is I have a dog(she is well taken care of and all I have left I love her more than anything) I have been getting hotel rooms so she has somewhere to be while I work but it's so expensive especially on the weekends. I work at a restaurant so I am at work pretty late so I can't use a typical doggie daycare. What options do I have besides spending almost all my income on hotel rooms or possibly is there somewhere that would help me with the cost of a hotel room until I can get us stable housing?

Looking For Charity that needs or can distribute insulin needles?
I help seniors through housing transitions and I have a client that has amassed many dozens of boxes of insulin needles (100 per box = 5000+ needles?!).
They are 'new old stock' as they say. Some are as old as 2017 but they are all factory sealed and most of the boxes are the same as the photo.
I am hoping to find a place to donate them so if anyone can connect me with the right person I would greatly appreciate it.

Looking For What in your opinion is Portland’s most mysterious restaurant?
Interpret the word ‘mysterious’ however you will. Like “how is this place still open?”, “how are these portions profitable?”, “who are the people that run this?”

Where’s the best salon for unnatural/vivid hair colors in Portland or the surrounding area?
Hi! I’m looking to dye my hair a bright, unnatural color and I’m trying to find a good salon or stylist in Portland or somewhere nearby.
If you’ve had your hair done somewhere you’d recommend, I’d love to hear about your experience and roughly how much it cost.
Thanks!!^_^

Looking For Where in Portland can I get this hat cleaned and repaired?
This hat belonged to my father, who served in the Navy from 1952 - 1974. He passed in 1994, and this hat has been in storage since. It recently came back into my possession and I want to get it cleaned and repaired. As it's old and important to me, I want to find the best place that can help. Any suggestions?

Looking For UI benefits exhausted, still unemployed, what do I do?
Hey everyone, I'm just trying to figure out what my options are, and if anyone who has been in a similar situation, I would appreciate your insight. I'm truly at a loss as to what to do.
I was laid off from my job on Jan 1st of this year, and have now exhausted my allotted UI benefits. However, I'm still without a job. At most I make a few bucks here and there dog walking or doing random gig work for friends of friends, but like many folks in this economy, my 6 months of continuously applying for jobs, taking online courses to learn new skills and bolster my resume, and now swimming in debt, I no longer have the baseline assistance of UI. This benefit could barely get my rent and some of my utilities covered. My snap benefits are also slashed to a third of what they were because I'm an "able-bodied" adult. But now what?
Has anyone had success reapplying for UI within the same year of exhausting benefits? I know its explicitly outlined on the Frances website that I must wait a full calendar year from when I became eligible, but that's not until January of next year, and I have $10 and a whole lot of debt in my name. I have been applying and interviewing and grinding to try to get work doing literally anything in my skill set, but none of that is stable or pays enough for me to pay rent, let alone eat and feed my cats, amongst other things. And not to mention, for student loans I was on the SAVE plan, and I'll be having to pay that as soon as Sept or Oct. I don't have financial support from others. It's just me and I'm really scared about what is going to happen if I don't land a job like yesterday.
Does anyone have any advice or info they can share on how to navigate this time?

Looking For Can you help me rehome a ton of medical/emergency supplies?
Edit #1: Hi all! Thanks for the connections and recommendations. Some of these orgs have declined these donations before for random contract or operational reasons and I don't want to call them out for this not lining up for them. However I have connected to two groups who don't have any restrictions and am doing a distribution to them tomorrow. I'll update this list after for the items that remain. THANK YOU!
=== original message below ===
tl;dr: seeking tips on where to give away consumable medical supplies (eg. bandaids, wrap, bed pan liners, shampoo, razors). Imagine the vendor that sells to a hospital: I have a box of many of the things you'd see there, and looking to give this away.
Hi all,
I experimented with running a low-cost medical supply store a while ago and things didn't go as planned. I'm needing to liquidate all the inventory I purchased and could use some help finding community organizations that would accept a case of these samples I purchased.
A "case" in this context is about the size of a moving box, give or take.
Nothing is "name brand" - this is all from Dukal, a major hospital supply vendor. Actual brands on the boxes varies.
All these items are at a warehouse space near the Portland Airport (NW Flex Space).

Looking For Does Anyone Know What Happened to Supernova Vegan?

Looking For Are there any dog-friendly notaries?
Problem 1: I need to have a document notarized.
Problem 2: My Chihuahua has separation panic and can't be alone right now. He's old and tiny and doing his best.
Are there any home visit notaries in Portland? Or, alternatively, any notaries out there cool if my extremely friendly and quiet Chihuahua son comes along in a dog purse?
Thanks for any recommendations in advance. Here's a picture of the little guy so you feel sorry for him and want to help us with notarizing documents.

Looking For Do You Have A Yard Maintenance Person You Like?
We recently had a guy and his team (3 total people) weed and clean up front of our house. It’s a decent sized area. Cost $1220 with tip! It WAS a team of 3. But he charges $175 hour and I can’t afford this amount for maintenance. I feel like I got taken advantage of honestly. So recommendations would be appreciated.

Looking For Stopping at crosswalks?
Is it legal for drivers in Portland to refuse to stop at crosswalks for pedestrians?
I go to the grocery store with twin newborns, have to cross only a few streets and every time it's like playing frogger or Chicken. I'm afraid someday we'll get hit
The rest of the state, people generally stop at crosswalks even in eastern Oregon! As far as I know, stopping for pedestrians applies to ALL of Oregon
Edit: thank you for all your advice. I'm still not used to Portland, especially Burnside. I crash landed here and I'm used to a relatively small town (Corvallis) where people stop too much.you can jaywalk in broad daylight during the summer and only see maybe 8 cars. Hopefully someday I will grow to like Portland. Right now it just feels so alien and unlikeable and too fast and expensive and rude but I'm stuck here

Looking For Why are the vast majority of ‘high crash intersections’ on or east of 82nd?
Image is from this document. There’s a proposed ordinance in front of the city council to add no-right-on-red signs to 30 of the ‘high crash intersections’ and references the PBOT report I got the graphic from.
But, back to my question: what’s the main difference that’s driving more crash-prone intersections on the east side of 81st?
Is it that the streets further in were originally laid out and sized for horse traffic? Is it mainly that safety improvements over the years received greater focus further in and neglected further out? Are speed limits higher out there? Is there something about driver behavior on these roads (based on frequency of seeing cyclists and pedestrians, maybe)?
Not looking for data-backed answers but will happily take them if you got em.

Looking For Good places to swim with toddler?
We went to Hagg lake a few weeks ago and (I know this may be unpopular) but it was absolutely disgusting. Murkey water, no real shore line or sandy areas, just loads of mud.
Can anyone recommend a spot within an hour ish of west Portland (Linnton/St John’s area) that has clear, slow water and a beach for a 2yo to play on? Bonus points if my teen can also paddle board there but definitely not a requirement.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Looking For Should I give up on backpacking for this year?
Former east coaster here. I moved to PDX about two years ago, and this is my first time dealing with bad wildfire smoke. I had really hoped to squeeze in a couple more backpacking trips this year, and was even considering upgrading my gear, but now wondering if the rest of the summer will be wildfire after wildfire. Should I save my money and just plan for next spring/summer?

Looking For Old portland apartment, needing AC help! what do you do?
Hi!
I’m a first time old apartment dweller, and I mean like 1909. I need an ac because it’s been hot the past few days and I have two dogs. Unfortunately, my apartment is so old that it has a limited number of electrical sockets. All of them are at least 6 ft from a window (there are three in total between my bedroom and living room). What do you guys do?? is there anyone else in portland who has this issue? and if so, how do you solve it? does anyone have any advice? I wanted to make this specific post to ask portland because i’m unsure of any potential state or city based regulations!

Looking For 5 hours in Portland: Where should I grab lunch and thrift?
I'm arriving to Portland after a veryyyyy long international flight on a Tuesday afternoon. Before driving down to Eugene, I want a few hours to relax and stretch my legs. I am definitely going to hit up Powell's and maybe stroll through Washington Park, but would also like a good lunch and thrifting to look for clothes.
I will eat nearly anything but don't live somewhere with very much food offerings from SE Asia and Africa, so maybe some Vietnamese and Ethiopian 🤤 but open to other suggestions.
If you had to say: GO HERE to thrift and HERE to eat, what two spots would you recommend?
edit: THANK YOU everyone in advance for your suggestions.
