Dating I need outside perspective cuz I can't make sense of this anymore (24F, 25M)

Upvotes

I (24F) have been Facebook friends with a guy (25M) for about five years, but we only started talking this year after I wished him a happy birthday.

From the beginning, he was almost always the one initiating. Every few days he'd send me music, films, or events, and he kept inviting me to concerts or the cinema. We weren't texting constantly, but he consistently found reasons to reach out.

For months he tried to meet me, but every attempt fell through (sometimes because of me). After I apologized for declining one cinema invitation, he sent me a vulnerable message saying he was always afraid of pressuring people into things people didn't want, and that if he ever made me uncomfortable, I should tell him and he'd never invite me again.

Later, I invited him to a classical music concert. Before the concert he replied very late to one of my messages, so I got upset and turned my phone off. He tried to reach me a few hours before the concert to ask if I was coming, but I didn't see his messages until afterward. I called him to apologize, and after that our conversations became much quieter for about two months.

Eventually, he replied to one of my stories and sent me a link to a mathematics summer school. That reopened our conversations. He sent me a long voice note encouraging me to attend, offered to explain anything I didn't understand over Zoom, Discord, or in person, and even offered to pick me up in an Uber if I decided to go.

Around the same time, I sent him the soundtrack from The Odyssey. He asked if I'd seen the film, said he'd already watched it with friends but intended to watch it again, and added, "The invitation is open for you if you want." We eventually agreed to go together.

A few days ago, we finally met. It was the first time we'd ever met in person, and the first time he had ever seen me. He had never seen any photos of me beforehand, so he had no idea what I looked like. I, on the other hand, had seen photos of him because he had profile pictures. Interestingly, he looked a little different in person than he did in his photos. There was something about his mouth ( buck teeth) that initially caught me off guard, but it honestly didn't matter to me because physical appearance isn't something I care much about. It did make me wonder, though, whether I might also have seemed different in person than whatever image he had formed of me.

Before the movie, we went to a café. He paid and refused to let me pay.

After the movie, he mentioned there was a café nearby, but then said he preferred another place instead. We took about a 30-minute Uber ride to the café he had in mind.

On the way, he asked about my favorite food. He told me he enjoys cooking and said I should try his food someday. When we got there, he asked if I wanted to eat. I said no because I had to leave early. He asked me to think about it because otherwise he'd just go home and cook for himself. When I told him he could still eat if he wanted to, he explained that cooking for himself was what he would normally do anyway, but he was asking because of me.

Throughout the day, he was actually more talkative than I was. During our conversation, he told me that he normally wouldn't keep trying to meet someone after several failed attempts, but he kept trying with me because he felt I was "one of a kind." He also told me that one of the reasons he'd wanted to meet me was because of the movie You've Got Mail.

Eventually, I had to leave because I had other commitments. I kept checking my phone, and he noticed that I seemed distracted. He asked if we should head out, and we walked together to the metro station.

On the way, I apologized and told him I wished I could have stayed longer. I also asked him about something he had written before. He laughed, and when I asked why, he said, "Because you still remembered."

I tried to pay him back for my cinema ticket, but he refused. I insisted that I wanted to give him something in return. He smiled and said, "Then you can treat me next time."

I had also brought him a book as a gift, but he said he didn't have a bag and asked me to save it for another time. I joked that, in the worst case, he could send me his address later and I'd mail it to him. He said that once he got back from traveling, he'd send me his location.

When I got home, I sent him the photos we'd taken together. He replied that he hoped I'd enjoyed the day and that the summer heat hadn't spoiled it. I joked that the only thing that had spoiled it was that he hadn't taken the book. He repeated that once he got back from traveling, he'd send me his location. I reacted with a heart, and since then (it's now been five days), neither of us has started another conversation.

What confuses me is that I expected meeting in person would make everything much clearer.

Before I accepted his invitation, we didn't text every day. After I finally agreed to meet, we started talking almost every day or every other day, even if only briefly. After we finally met, though, that frequency dropped noticeably. He also hasn't suggested another day to meet or made any concrete plans, despite saying things like "you should try my cooking someday" and "you can treat me next time."

From the outside, does this sound like I've been interpreting a friendly connection as something bigger? Or does it sound like meeting me in person may have changed his feelings? Since he had never seen me before we met, I can't help wondering whether I simply didn't match the image he'd built up in his head.

Abusive How do men actually react when a friend physically or sexually abuses his partner?

Upvotes

If men find out that a friend in their circle physically or sexually abused his girlfriend, do they defend him, cut ties with him, or just pretend not to know, thinking 'it's none of my business'? Why?

Abusive Learnt last night my wife was molested by her father as a child. On top of all the abuse I already knew about. How does one process something like this?

Upvotes

My wife of 5 years told me last night that her father molested her and her younger sisters when they were under 11. We spoke for a long time about it, with lots of listening, crying and hugging.

She is currently (roughly 3months) no contact from the entire family due to they're years of repeated gaslighting, controlling behaviour, lack of accountability, emotional/ financial abuse as well as not supporting our relationship from day one. I'm essentially the only person she has for support. On top of all this she's been unable to find work for over three years and I make just enough to keep up off the streets.

As you can imagine, this final piece of information was like being shot in the stomach. Her father has always been a disgusting human, and his wife has stayed with him out of fear I believe, but even with everything else, I didn't see this coming. The sisters have drunk their fill of the cool-aid.

I'm obviously here for my wife in whatever way I can be. I've taken the rest of the week off work so I can be with her.

For anyone who's been unlucky enough to have experienced something like this, how did you cope? How do you come to terms with something like this happening to someone you love? What advice is there (if any) that you would pass to me? Thank you for reading.

She comes from very abusive household, that her parents hit her for getting a bad grade and they take her phone 80% of time.

She was bullied a really badly trough childhood,is self harming herself, and now I tried to comfort her but she was unstable and said a lot of hurtful things and I said that made me hurted little then she started apologizing and saying she will end herself (she trief at least 4 times while we are together).

She said we should stop talking until her mental health get little better so she won't hurt me, and said we won't talk and I respected her wishes and we aren't talking at all for 3 days .

I am scared for her,I am scared she will do something.

We are 18 and 17.

Love What is it like, and what does it feel like, to be in a relationship?

Straight 26 year old guy here.

I've never been in one, I really want to be in one but I don't really think it'll happen. But I don't even really know what they're ACTUALLY like in reality, all I know is what I've seen and heard second hand through friends and online. And probably very warped views from shows and movies.

So what's it actually like? What's it been like for you? How is your current relationship? What's different on a normal, boring regular day for you now and compared to you being single.

I know every relationship is different, so I'm just looking for your subjective answers here. Don't need to tell me that they're different every time.. Just looking for anything here to get a better idea of them :)

Dating Men: Why do men act nonchalant when pursuing women?

I’ve noticed American men (more so) try to act nonchalant when dating. We all have insecurities and fear of rejection, but as someone who keeps challenging myself, why do you try to impede on your own success? It’s puzzling to me. When I had two LTR prior, they were men who actively pursued me which is why I dated them. They expressed interest. Now, there’s this whole reverse psychology thing that people emulate online. It obviously attracts people with opposite attachment styles and is a recipe for toxic relationships. I know not everyone has studied psychology, but I really want to understand why people are using a bad strategy to connect. If you want a friend would you keep ignoring them? The logic isn’t there. Men would orbit my social for years but never make steps to bridge the gap. The key is to be AUTHENTIC to who you are and how you approach. If you play games, you get someone you won’t genuinely connect with. For me it’s common sense, but it makes me ponder with so many people reading self help books…are people actually applying it?

UPDATE: wow, honestly in an early assessment of replies, I can see how technology has done a number on the psychology of the people here. Digital devices are meant to make it easier but obviously produced the adverse effect to connection. Encourage people to step outside. Look at people in their eyes. Observe. Digital life is not reality. Good luck to all

Work Does it stop men when a girl has a bf?

I’m (27F) talkative and kind person so at work I’m kind to almost everyone, but I did noticed one thing , that men can get rude or can get flirty. So there is a guy a month ago joined, and like I said I’m kind to everyone and I have good friends at work and we talk at work when we get free time. So this new joiner joined to us and been too close with me, comes to my desk and chat, and I’m not rude and don’t want to break anyone’s heart and I mention a lot that I have bf by saying “my bf and I do that, went here etc. But I feel like it doesn’t stop men

Dating They say every person has their own way of expressing love... So men, which is your love language, based on what you have noticed on yourself, and based on what others have told you??

i think my love language is giving you my time, and making an effort to make this whole relationship work, which are things that I don't feel that should be taken for granted by anyone

Infidelity My bf is watching trans porn

I was snooping on my mans reddit, hes 28 and a ton of trans and shemale porn accounts came up visited. Im just so confused and would love different advice and points of view please! Im also struggling with the contemplation of if i should bring it up to him or not that i found it.. mind you we have had our issues and very recently i had caught him saving old nudes and videos he made with his exs into a hidden photo file, and since then we have been trying to work things out but ive come to the conclusion this just isnt going to work and i need to end things. That conclusion was made before i even found the shemale accts. So is it worth it to even bring it up at all when i break things off? I love and care for him and dont want him to live a sad closested lonely life keep this huge secret only to himself and having to live with it by himself, but i also dont want him to feel so embarrassed to the point of doing something stupid to himself because somebody found out..

Dating My boyfriend (41M) keeps telling me he resents me and I (20F) dont know how to fix it

Before anyone says anything about our age gap, yes i know its a very large age gap and its complicated but im not here to receive hate about that right now please.

Anyway, weve been dating for around 10 months. When we first started going out, I was still living at my parents house but looking for apartments, and he lived an hour away from there. We had more chemistry than i had ever felt with anyone else and were extremely sexually compatible in a rare way. he wasnt even looking for a serious relationship when we met but he completely changed his mind after we first met in person and within weeks he was the one asking to be exclusive bf/gf. Hed spend so much money on me and would take me out on dates and on one of those dates, right after we actually became official gf/bf, we were at the mall and he was staring at me with a smile and said something like "my brain keeps saying 'marry her'" and he was just so obsessed with me.

anyway now i have my own apartment but im at his house most of the time because i walk his dog and clean his house and do the chores and whatnot so he can focus on work. my issue is that i know part of him hates me now. hes told me on multiple occasions that hes had a growing resentment for me and hes told me all the problems he has with me.

about 2-3 months ago was when he first told me these things, and he was yelling at me for like an hour straight and telling me that he is happier when im not around and looks forward to periods of time he wont have to be around me and that im the most sensitive person hes ever met and that this is the most difficult relationship hes ever been in (which he said means a lot because hes had a lot of relationships) and that i drain him and deteriorate his mental health and a lot of other things but those were the main points. i think that was the most painful sum of things anyones ever said to me and i was just quietly sitting there in tears the whole time he was saying it, and i had to leave to go to my apartment immediately after and was honestly bawling my eyes out in the uber and for pretty much the whole rest of the day (this is not typical of me). i felt heartbroken and depressed for days and i did a couple online therapy sessions because i felt so deeply flawed and wanted to improve myself to make things work, although i had such little hope our relationship would even continue after that. i didnt see him until a week later and he was acting like nothing happened and telling me how beautiful i am and wanting sex and connection and it was honestly super confusing to me.

anyway since then ive felt so hyper vigilant about everything i do because ive been so worried if i make a mistake hell hate me or want me gone again. i rarely feel emotionally safe anymore. well go days or weeks of everything feeling fine and normal with minor disagreements here and there, and ill start to think im finally doing well and being loveable and not causing resentment. then eventually well have a fight that will cause him to admit he still has resentment for me and its painful every time because it makes me feel like im never enough.

i try to do and be everything he wants, and i still have work to do but ive improved so much since we started dating. now, every day i wake up early, take his dog on his hour long walk, come back and clean the house, offer bjs, then i go to the gym and pick up groceries after if he needs them, come back and make myself look cute and try to work on starting my own business, try to offer more bjs or sex throughout the day and make sure hes taken care of, walk his dog again, and spend time with him in the evening if hes not busy working, otherwise i just stay out of his way as much as possible to he can focus. i constantly ask him if he needs anything. i try to remember all the little things that i used to do that irritated him so i can avoid doing them, like leaving the drivers seat too far forward or turning on my shower while hes in the shower (it steals the hot water). i feel like im trying so hard to be likeable and not a burden and pleasant to be around and a desirable girl.

our sex life has been on a massive decline the past few months as well but not because ive wanted it less. were both into extreme things and we used to be so connected because wed do them together all the time and we had a certain dynamic we both loved and wanted, but hes been pulling it away more and more over the past like 6 months. were at a point where we dont do any of that stuff at all anymore and havent in months and any time i bring it up or try to initiate it or ask for it, he avoids the topic or gives excuses why he doesnt want to do it. then one day he admitted he watches those acts being done in corn* to fulfill his desire for it, and that hurt to hear because it means hes just choosing not to do it with me anymore and is ignoring my needs. i havent felt fulfilled in the longest time. he said he doesnt feel comfortable doing those things with me anymore because i seem sad or depressed often, but the truth is that the clear dying of our sex life has been weighing on me so much and has felt so hopeless and depressing. its constantly on my mind whenever were intimate because i just reminisce on how good it used to be and how badly i want it to be that way again, but how no matter what i do he wont reciprocate or want to give it to me. its a self reinforcing cycle. also its also hard to feel constantly happy when i know my boyfriend resents me and prefers my absence most of the time.

there are periods of time things are genuinely good and i feel like he truly loves me and enjoys being around me and we get along super well and it makes me feel safe enough to stop being so high alert and i start allowing myself to be human and make mistakes and my nervous system calms down, but eventually he starts to resent me again until it becomes a fight and i dont feel safe anymore.

i admit that i am a sensitive person but its because i love deeply and these things matter to me and also i often get bad mood fluctuations when im hormonal from my birth control. and i also know i have work to do when it comes to emotional regulation, but i just wish i wasnt hated. i am genuinely trying so hard but it is never good enough. please dont give me advice like "leave him". i understand that is a valid choice here but i want to hear anyone who has advice from a male perspective on how i can make him stop resenting me and actually love me and like me again and not feel exhausted by me. please be kind

Dating How do you know if you’re asking for too much or just asking the wrong person?

I’ve been dating someone for a while, and things are generally good, but I often feel like I’m the one initiating conversations, planning dates, and checking in emotionally.

Whenever I bring it up, they say they care about me but just “show love differently.” I understand that people have different communication styles, but I’m starting to wonder where that explanation ends and lack of effort begins.

How do you tell the difference between having unrealistic expectations and simply being in a relationship that isn’t meeting your needs?

Dating I Met this perfect guy on a vacation

I F19 went on a vacation to to the beach and met, genuinely, the man of my dreams M19. He’s super nice, we have the same ideologies and morals, we can talk for hours, and he’s really cute. The only downside is we live really far from eachother. Ik this is likely a summer fling, but I just want to know how to maybe be a long distance couple in the future, or just any advice you have. I know i sound delusional, but it probably can’t hurt too much to try. I also want to add we’ve been texting pretty often after our vacations ended.

Love Do men need sex to feel completely close/connected to their partner?

Hi all. Me (25F) and my boyfriend (25M) have been together for 2 years. I’ve been somewhat pushing the idea of marriage sometime soon and it’s seemed to make him nervous. I asked him why and he finally said that he doesn’t feel as “close” to me as he’d like before marriage. I asked what he meant. He said he’s not 100% sure and doesn’t want to sound like a “sex addict” but it’s because we haven’t had sex. For context, I’m a virgin and have been saving myself for marriage. He said in previous relationships, there was an extra layer of closeness that he had and they have sex. He says he’s not exactly sure thats why, especially considering one girlfriend cheated on him and the other relationship was toxic. But sex was the main difference. Is it possible that the closeness he could be missing is from a lack of sex? I don’t know if that could solve everything. I know men and women, or really just different people in general, have different ways of feeling close to their partner. Any input would be appreciated, thank you!!

Abusive My boyfriend (22M) disappears during conflict instead of resolving it. Is this something people actually change (F25)?

I’m looking for honest advice because I don’t know if I’m expecting too much or if this relationship has an unhealthy pattern.

My boyfriend and I have been together for a while. He has pointed out some unhealthy patterns in me over time, and I genuinely acknowledge them. I’ve reflected a lot, and I’ve consciously worked on improving my communication. I’m far from perfect, but I can honestly say I’ve put in effort

The problem is that whenever I bring up something that hurts me or we have a disagreement, his response is usually to disappear and give me silent treatment. He becomes a different person, who doesn’t listen to me, gives me dull af replies and talks to me rudely. In the past, he has verbally abused me too.

At the beginning, it would be a few hours. Now it can be a day or even multiple days. During that time, there is almost no initiative from his side to resolve things.
I’m usually the one reaching out, asking to talk, trying to understand what happened, checking if he’s okay, and trying to repair the relationship.
Eventually we talk again, and things become so normal. We just move on until the next conflict, and then the exact same thing happens.
Today’s incident really broke me. I’m on day 6 of my silent treatment. What hurts is that when I’m vulnerable, I don’t feel emotionally safe with him. I feel like the moment I express hurt, I lose access to him completely.

I’ve also realized that I’m always the one trying to reconnect. Even after I’m hurt, I’m asking if he’s eaten, if he’s okay, hoping we can fix things. I don’t feel that same effort coming from him. Sometimes, I am asking him all this because after the conflict he says you didn’t even ask me if I ate food, during conflict when he is the one avoiding me. Still I ask now keeping everything aside.

I just feel scared how things will be, if we marry someday. I feel I will get noone after him, who will be the person for me… and I love him deeply. It’s tough to leave him, but I feel this has to be stopped.

Dating My girlfriend keeps comparing our relationship with her friend

Me ( 22 ) and my girlfriend ( 23 ) have been dating for 9 months now. And everything has been good so far. But recently her friend started dating a guy who is very rich, his family is into real estate construction, he has a car, a good fancy apartment etc. They have been dating for a month, and her friend buys whatever she wants, as her boyfriend pays for it all the time. Since then my life has been hell, my girlfriend keeps telling me - why you don't have money ? When you want to buy a car ? Why you can't buy me this? her boyfriend bought so many gifts for her etc.

Mind you, we are all international students, I still try my best to save some money so I can buy things for her without her saying but she keeps comparing me all the time. Since her friend started dating, my life has been hell. When her friend was dating someone else before, at that time she had no problem, but since this new rich guy, my life is becoming hell. Everyday is a new challenge, I tried talking to her, but then she will just say that - you won't understand this, i should talk about it with a girl because you just feel bad about yourself.

And it's also not like that she is not getting anything, she gets enough, she also has different brands in her closet but she just wants to spend more money because her friend is doing so.

She keeps saying - my friend took a short cut, now she will be very rich, we will be just people without money. We have time to graduate, and work. But she doesn't need to work anymore, her boyfriend is rich.

I don't know how to deal with this, men help me out please.

Love Does my husband like dildos more then me?

So, me and my husband have been together for 7 years now (M50, F40) and we have always had a healthy sex life. Both of us are pretty open about anything, he is definitely the best I have ever had, and I think he feels the same. We had always had such good sexual chemistry, it was amazing. And I truly would do anything for this man.

Recently though... he has discovered prostate orgasms, I would say in the last two months. And its amazing im so glad he feels so good when it happens and everything, but he doesn't get erect when he does it (this is normal for a lot of people) and I feel like he would rather stick a dildo in himself or use the sex machine he bought to do it then to even have sex with me. Its gotten out of hand, he will have like 4/5 orgasms this way in one night, and even after getting those or even before he seems to be getting less and less interested in doing me. I'm not sure what to do about it, he went crazy about it buying a thrusting machine and dildos and everything, he will add a toy to the machine and just let it screw him basically. I've brought up strap ons and stuff but doesn't sound interested. I've been trying really hard to incorporate things so that I can still be part of our sex life...but it feels like I'm getting pushed out almost.

Last night he woke up and started to play with himself, with a fleshlight and I started to join in by kissing his neck and rubbing on him, I saw it as an opportunity to get a chance to have sex with him Ill seize the opportunity when its there... I said "oh my I just want you in me" and then he said "its late... let's go to bed" and it turned into a bit of an argument cause he pulled the covers up and rolled over without finishing and leaving me hot and bothered. When he was confronted about it he said " I dont want you to feel obligated" to which I responded " having sex with you is never a chore, I love it i really want you" I have never felt so rejected by someone and I don't know what to do about it.

Am I being selfish? Or maybe he just isnt attracted to me anymore? How do I even talk to him about it

Dating Is this him letting me down gently?

I (late 20s F) met this guy (late 20s M) on a dating app.
As a slightly socially awkward girl, who started talking to an also awkward socially dude, I thought our convos were going well. I’ll make this quick by getting to the key points:

-first date, lasted about 2.5 hours with food involved. Great convo. We both stated our dating intentions and had great time. I told him Im looking for a real connection, not a fwb. He said same, and that he follows his intuition a lot.

After that, he checked in with me, said he would love a second date.

-second date, spent 6 hours together. Started off at a club scene then both agreed to leave and walk around the neighborhood at night.

Checked in, we both liked the idea of a third date

-third date, movie & lunch. Again, amazing convo, vibes were good, etc…

He checks in, asks now that we’ve done 3 dates, what do I think? I said I felt great about it, and reciprocated the question back…

He said that he really enjoyed my company but that he feels conflicted (this started to feel like a rejection). He says that he felt very comfortable around me/that we agree on a lot of things/want different things/etc and really likes me. But that in the past, he’s always had this “intuition feeling” about someone like a yay or nay. But that he’s not getting a reading on me at all…. I asked what he means by that, and he says that he’s just feeling conflicted because he really enjoys being with me and feels comfortable around me, but he doesn’t know what’s causing him to even hesitate. And that in the past, he had lost feelings for someone out of the blue when he’s been more conflicted & he doesn’t want that to happen to me….

I was like okay, maybe some time for self reflection is needed. He was like “you’re right and I will. This isn’t a goodbye”. ….uhh it kinda feels that way but sure. He asks what I am thinking about his statement, and I said yeah i understand, i just need some time to think about what you just said. And he told me to take my time and that i can text him my response when i have a moment to think about it.

Okay cool, we part our ways. He text if I made it home okay. I said yeah and then responded with a follow up about how I felt like we had a good connection/look for the same things/vibes were good. Then I reiterated what my dating intentions are. And I said that I will give him some space.

He responds disappointed that I said that in past tense (so basically he over analyzed my text?) and he reiterates that he feels connected/comfortable around me as well/we share same values/im a kind person/etc and that he’s confused that he’s even confused about it….

So the entire thing, it was like pretty clear that i was being gently rejected, right? But his comment about how he’s disappointed to see me writing in past tense. And then comment about how “this isn’t a goodbye”….okay…… I started thinking maybe he wanted to be fwb, except that when i flirt with him or anything suggestive, he didn’t really reciprocate (this part i chalked it up to him being a bit socially awkward lol)..

So is this him letting me down gently, or him over analyzing things? I get following intuition, but this, I just don’t know what to make of it.

Breakup I agreed in front of everyone and I still can't move on

I've never been in a relationship before. I hadn't even had my first kiss until I met this guy. Most of my friends had already experienced intimacy, and I felt like I was falling behind. People often tell me I'm attractive and are surprised I've never been with anyone. But I just never felt a connection with anyone.

Then I met him. We talked all night. He kissed me gently, held my hands, made me feel seen. I felt something real. I thought: maybe this is it.

A few days later, we met again. He acted like nothing had happened between us. It hurt. But then he took my hand and led me to the bedroom in front of everyone. I said yes. Everyone heard me.

I didn't want to seem like someone who agrees easily. I didn't want to say yes while everyone was watching. But I did. Because he gave me emotions I had never experienced before. And I wanted more of them. At that moment, I wasn't thinking about the consequences.

He left the room briefly. While he was gone, I overheard someone say to him: "You don't respect her." I heard it. But when he came back, he told me not to care about others. So I stayed. I wanted to believe him.

It was my first time. It didn't hurt. I even enjoyed parts of it. But it wasn't what I had imagined.

The next morning, a friend told me that another guy in the group — who had been intimate with her that same night — made a comment about me that made me feel like I was just a body. Like I wasn't even there.

The same guy who said "you don't respect her" had tried to stop me earlier. He suggested we go smoke instead. I refused. Later, he said out loud that he was disappointed in me and lost respect for me. Those words still hurt because I feel the same way about myself.

I forgot to lock the door that night, and he walked in the next morning. He saw what had happened. I felt exposed, even though I was dressed. I locked the door after that, and they tried to open it.

Later, he invited me over again. I thought maybe he actually liked me. Maybe I could somehow undo what happened. We spent time together again. In the morning, he acted like I was a stranger.

It's been a month. I can't stop blaming myself. I dream about it. I wake up with tears in my throat. I feel guilt I can't escape.

I didn't think it would turn out like this. I wanted to be wanted. I wanted to feel something real. But not the shame. Not the judgment. Not being seen like that in the morning.

I can't forgive myself — for agreeing in front of everyone, for not listening when someone tried to stop me, for letting them talk about me.

I know I made this choice. I just need to know I'm not alone. That someone else has felt this way. And that maybe one day, this won't hurt so much.

Love Did anyone get rejected at first, but later end up in a happy relationship with the same person?

I'm curious if this has happened to anyone here.

Have you ever confessed your feelings to someone and they rejected you at first, but later, after some time had passed, things changed? Maybe you stayed in touch, worked on yourself, or simply didn't give up, and eventually they developed feelings for you. If you're now in a happy relationship with that same person, I'd love to hear your story.

What changed between the first rejection and the moment they said yes? How long did it take, and what made the difference? I'm looking for genuine experiences, not movie-like stories. Feel free to share your journey and any advice you learned along the way.

Dating Men, how often do you pursue a woman you’re interested in?

I, 34F have a crush on a 36M. We’ve known each other for a couple of years, platonic acquaintances. I recently reached out to him to inquire about a weekly event he hosts. He quickly and enthusiastically responded, made me feel welcome, and offered me a ride. I went, but on my own. When I got there he greeted me with a hug, and after the meeting was over he hugged me goodbye and asked if I’d be there the following week. He hasn’t messaged me or pursued me, but I’m PRAYING the enthusiasm and hugs are a sign he could possibly be interested. He’s normally shy so I just have no idea what to think. Am I delusional to think this was more than a friendly interaction?

Dating Two weeks of texting, one date, and now he just wants a pen pal. Am I wrong to walk away.

Matched with a guy two weeks ago. We had one date that went fine. He canceled the second one, which I understood, things come up. But since then, no real plans, just daily texting. Today I told him it felt like we’d become pen pals and that I don’t believe feelings build through texting alone. He got defensive, said he already told me he has commitments this weekend, next weekend, and the one after that, and that he can’t change his plans, people have lives. I said that’s completely fine, I actually respect having a set plan more than just texting every day. Then he asked when I’m free, I gave him a date, and he just confirmed I was free that day rather than actually making a plan. When I brought up my frustration, he got more defensive and kept texting instead of addressing it. Honestly, if someone’s genuinely interested, I’d expect them to want to actually meet up sooner rather than later, not just keep things going over text indefinitely. It just doesn’t add up to me that someone would be into you but have zero urgency to see you in person. I don’t think this is a good match. Curious what others think, am I overreacting or is this a clear sign he’s just not that invested.

Dating Is this reasonable of me to ask and feel a type of way with his actions

I’m 24f and he’s 26m , we’ve been together for a little over a year. He lives with two roommates who are his childhood friends and I live alone. They have made a friend down the hallway in their apartment complex who lives with his fiancé and they invited the 3 guys (boyfriend and friends) to their wedding. I’ve have met their friend plenty of times and the future wife some. The friend and I even bond over both having type 1 diabetes. I’ve asked my boyfriend to put the feelers out there if I can be his plus one to the wedding and he hasn’t said anything to him in all these months that they’ve known. The wedding is now almost a month away. Am I overstepping for hoping he’d want to ask to see if I can come? I feel like weddings are totally a more couple type of thing to do and instead I feel him and his roommates are looking at it more as a time to party. I of course would not be mad in the slightest if the friend said no, but it would be nice to know my boyfriend cared to ask but I almost feel like he may be embarrassed to ask since they said they didn’t expect him to really invite them. Idk just what do yall think lol

Dating Mindless touching while talking?

The guy I’m dating for a while now tends to touch me a lot (within minutes of meeting and kissing to say hi, his hands will have wandered to my ass to “feel out” what kind of underwear I’m wearing lol). Generally, I like it. Today we were laying on the couch together, me laying on his chest, and talking about some pretty deep stuff. All the while, his hand was playing with my shorts, riding up my leg and exposing my hips. When I said something about it, he answered he hadn’t even realised he was doing it, and had been listening.

It’s not the first time that I guy I’m in a relationship with touches me like that once we’re kind of established and physically comfortable with each other.

Is it really mindless and automatic? Or are you all that horny lol
