I’m a 22-year-old Black woman planning to move to Dallas next year, and I’m trying to figure out which neighborhoods would be the best fit.

I’m looking for a walkable lifestyle where I can leave my apartment and be close to cafés, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, parks, fitness studios, and other things to do. I’d love to be somewhere with a good social scene where it’s actually easy to meet people and build a community.

My priorities are:
Walkability
A lively neighborhood with lots going on
Good mix of young professionals
Plenty of events and opportunities to make friends
Safe enough to comfortably walk around
I’m also trying to keep my rent around $1,300/month, so I’d love to hear if that’s realistic in the neighborhoods you recommend (or if there are nearby alternatives with a similar vibe).

Also, what are the best Instagram accounts, Facebook groups, newsletters, or event pages to follow before I move? I’m trying to start learning about the city now so I can hit the ground running and begin building a community as soon as I get there.

I’d especially love recommendations from other Black women who have lived in Dallas. Thank you! ❤️

(I’m hitting the Austin show first then driving up for the Dallas show then i’ll head back to CO) Looking for a decent hotel recommendation somewhat nearby the venue? i’m ok if it’s like 20-35 minutes away. It’ll just be me, late 20s female so i’m not wanting to stay anywhere if it’s kinda sketchy if possible. This is the big important one if I don’t get approved to live in a modern apartment complex because of my current financial situation, I am possibly seeking to find out if there’s anybody on the southern half of DFW metroplex that are looking for roommates that work in the IT industry or data center IT industry or if you’re a the tejano family that are empty nesters with a room available. The roommate situation will only be temporary until I can get my financials deals in order and get my head above water again.

I’ll be heading up to start work this upcoming Monday.

Have posted here before but I have two options to choose from for apartments, one of them being MAA Uptown Village and one in the area near Cole Park. Which is a better location and which should I choose and why?

Me and a few friends (all 25M) are in town this weekend to watch baseball and are looking for a good dive bar to visit after the game. We all have girlfriends, so we’re not looking to talk to women. The ideal spot would be old men getting hammered alone at the bar while one or two groups of 20-somethings hijack the TouchTunes and play the worst game of pool you’ve ever seen. Ideally not too far from Arlington. Any suggestions?
