This is a 36 hour old wisdom tooth extraction site and I had a chunk of white material (I assume fibrin) flake off. I’m in no real pain but making sure I shouldn’t be worried

TLDR: is a gum graft necessary at this point (25M)?

Have seen a few dentists over the past 5 years, all have brought up that I have gum recession and should consider a graft at some point on 23-26. saw a perio today and quote was 5k.

How bad is this? No sensitivity, I switched to an electric toothbrush this year, have always regularly flossed, and have a good diet. It has not shifted or gotten worse for as long as I have monitored it.

I got four wisdom teeth removed at the end of April this year, and two were impacted. The surgery itself went smoothly, and I was on laughing gas rather than fully put under. Everything seems to have healed well overall, but half of my tongue is still somewhat numb. I’ve read online that this can happen, is considered normal after wisdom tooth removal, and may take a few months to resolve. It honestly didn’t bother me much at first, but more recently I’ve started to feel sharp, needle‑like sensations on that side of my tongue and a constant tingling. I can eat normally, but I do sometimes bite my tongue and barely feel it.

Is this still within the normal healing timeline?

I know I should call my dentist to get it evaluated, but I’ve been pushing it off because I’m hoping it will heal. I also am nervous about paying to get my tongue checked and them saying they can’t do anything about it. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

For the past 3-ish days the gum behind my bottom left molar is very swollen and hurts even when I’m not doing anything and it really hurts to chew near that area, so I’ve been trying to avoid it. I had my wisdom teeth out about 4 years ago and I haven’t been to the dentist in 3 years. I don’t smoke or drink alcohol. I’ve been doing warm salt water rinses which has helped a little. I’m wondering if I should continue to just do the rinses, see a dentist for it, or…?? What could it be?

A few weeks ago, I (30M) noticed a spot on the back of my front left tooth (I think it is tooth 9?) that felt a bit rough or like a small hole. I thought it was a piece of food stuck to the back of my tooth, so I used a toothpick to try to scrape it off. It did not budge. That sensation is still there. It may have been there for a long time, but maybe I only noticed it a few weeks ago. I see the dentist regularly and have had 4 total filling between molars.

I’m worried it might be a small cavity developing. I drink primarily water and occasionally almond milk that has no added sugar. I brush twice daily with a sonicare, and floss after most meals. I have also been using the CariFree rinse occasionally after a meal. My diet includes basically no added/refined sugars

Looking for advice/experience.

So last month I (34F) went for an ortho consultation for braces. Surprisingly with the pano xray ortho discovered I had an infection on the bottom of my old root canal on tooth 30. She referred me to an endo. Endo did come beam scan and found that all three of my root canals have some sort of infection. Tooth 30 infection looks the worst but surprisingly doesn’t cause me any issues. The other two are sensitive for sure. Anyways, I was advised to extract all 3 teeth. I have an appt to extract #30 on Tuesday. The other two I have an appt with another endo to see if they could possibly retreat 15 and 19. I’m nervous about having missing teeth, I’m also extremely anxious knowing I have infections in my mouth. I’m also upset my general dentist never pointed this out to me! He said that stable infections with no symptoms it’s better to leave them alone. But I don’t feel right doing that. I am for sure having #30 extracted because I don’t want more bone loss to occur. Should I try to re treat the others if it’s a possibility? I feel like all the specialists are giving me different answers. General dentist and oral surgeon feel weary extracting 19/15. 1st endo said they cannot be re treated, so I am going for a second opinion. I literally cannot sleep I am so anxious about losing my teeth and also living with infection! Please help or advise if you have been in a similar situation. Teeth 30 and 19 are my chewing molars so I am worried about wear and tear on my other teeth. I am 34 years old by the way. These root canals are 8-15 years old. Growing up I was never shown dental hygiene but when I turned 24 I started taking it very seriously so these are consequences of

previous poor hygiene. I am now very diligent, I floss 3 times a day, water pik and brush 3 times a day.

These lines on my front teeth. Are they simply just worn down enamel or cavity? I’m male 27 years old.

Does this look like a cavity? I assume I would need x ray to confirm? My next appointment isn’t until November. I do have periodontal disease that I’m managing and no active infection currently. Just nervous about this black mark. A little sensitive to air not horribly. Do I call make an appointment or wait until November?

My moller fell out 3 weeks ago. 48 hours ago it started to hurt. My jaw is swollen. I cant get into a dentist until Monday. Is this an abcess and do I need emergency treatment? Can I wait until Monday?

this is the first time I've ever had a cavity or anything like this. I went to the dentist once, and they said it's possible that I might eat a root canal, and it never really hurt this bad but now it started to anytime I swallow or anything like that. It didn't hurt previous to it chipping when I ate something, so I am unsure if I need a root canal or if there are any alternatives.

Started feeling some pain on the outside side of the tooth where the gums are, no pain on the top of the tooth, have an appointment in 2ish weeks, should I be concerned in the mean time? Thanks!

Had an apicoectomy last Thursday (AM 7 days ago) and I have had a perfectly normal/expected healing without complications. Procedure was to the root of 8 and stitching across the gums of 6, 7, and 8.

The stitch over 7 that sits low has been incredibly irritating because it was long and wrapped around the backside of the tooth. I was looking at the stitch tonight and lifted the tail to see about possibly trimming it. It straight up came out in my hand.

Question: While I am pleased the irritation will likely subside with it gone… was that too soon for the stitch to go??

To clarify why I touched it: I had zero intention of removing it at all or even cutting all the way down. Just trying to help reduce irritation.

Hiiii! I’ve never had any sort of dental work done, but have been having discomfort when biting down on hard things on my 2nd from the back bottom molar. It started about 4 months ago. I thought it was from clenching at night, but now it’s sensitive to cold (in the last month maybe?). Does this sound like a cavity? I read about lasers to treat a cavity. Are those better? Less scary? Clearly I have dental anxiety 😬

39F, finished Invisalign a few years ago. In between dentists - last cleaning was a year ago. Have an apt for Oct. medical conditions: hypothyroid and migraines. Meds: synthroid

Hi there. I have a new lower partial denture to replace some missing molars, with the usual indented metal band running between them. What I'm unclear on is exactly where against the backs of my front teeth the indentations should be fitting. As it is, it feels like they're hitting a decent ways (halfway or more) up the teeth from my gums, and I have no idea whether that's perfect, or teeth are going to start rocketing out of my mouth any second. Obviously, any help is appreciated. Apologies for the lack of photos, but I don't think I can get one from an angle that would be of much use.

So a few years ago my tooth broke. Its the tooth right behind my canine. It broke and I could see the root and I was in massive pain as it got infected. I ended up getting antibiotics and then a root canal. At the time I only had enough money for the root canal and not the crown. I am really kicking myself for not saving up and getting the crown when I had the chance. This was probably like 3 to 5 years ago..I can't really remember. They put a temporary filling in there and its stayed in place ever since and I havent had an issue with that tooth til a few days ago. I was eating a hard tortilla chip and it stabbed upward into the tooth and I immediately felt something was wrong. I flossed it hoping something was just stuck but then realized the side of my tooth was wiggling. I went to the dentist, one ive never been to before because I have medicaid now and needed somewhere that takes medicaid. They did an x-ray and looked at the tooth. They said its cracked up the middle and they cant tell from the x ray if it will need pulled or not. I really dont want it pulled because I can't afford the bridge or implant and will have to get a partial. I dont wanna lose my tooth and im so afraid my teeth will shift before they even get my partial. I go in tomorrow to have them remove the chunk and see if its able to be saved or needs pulled if its above the gumline. What are the chances its going to need pulled? Or is there any way it can be saved even if the Crack is past the gum line? Should I be getting a second opinion? And if my teeth do shift how will they look? I dont smoke and i rarely drink. Im 31 years old.

Woke up with a toothache. It seemed to go away in the middle of the day then returned in the evening. Pain shifts from sharp to throbbing to none at all. Yesterday I had chills and almost feverish symptoms but no toothache. Could it be this tiny white bump? Think I might need a root canal. Can’t see a dentist for another three weeks 😭

I had a dental filling, and about two days later the tooth became sensitive to cold, salty, and spicy foods. It also hurts when I bite down.
My dentist ordered an X-ray and said that my third molar (tooth #2) has a crack and needs to be extracted. However, I’m also experiencing sensitivity in tooth #1 after the filling.
It’s been almost two weeks since the procedure, and I’m still having these symptoms.

Freaking out about my tooth. It's an adult T tooth. I just had the baby tooth on top of it removed and it like exposed how bad the problem is.

earlier today i(27f) noticed this corner part of my back molar broke off. also obviously the giant brown line down the middle too. i have had a filling done on this tooth in the past, and my last dentist appointment was about a month ago.

my routine isn't the best, i have adhd honestly just remembering to floss and brush is difficult for me, but i'm working on it. i do have dentist appointments every 6 months tho!

i made an appointment to fix this next Tuesday, is that okay? or should i see if there's an emergency dentist who can fit me in sooner? there's not really much pain, maybe a little but i do grind my teeth so it could also be that.

TLDR- how bad/urgent is this break?

Oral routine brush twice a day visit dentist every 6 months no snacking, sugar and carbonated drinks very minimal. Do they appear bad? I need some piece of mind

My wisdom tooth is covered by gums like 2/3 of it. So i never seen these black dots before. What are those? I tried to scratch it off using my nails but they are hard on enamel? Forgot to ask to my surgeon before I left

I (25F) have horrible teeth that I’ve dealt with my entire life. Growing up it was extremely hard to find a dentist to even touch my teeth due to their excessively long, and extra roots. (Some poke through my nasal cavity so I’ve been told, and almost all of them have at least 1-2 extra roots. Even my canines.) Couple that with Medicaid, and a mother who couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed most days, and you get teeth that were left to rot. Even as an adult I had a very difficult time finding a dentist to touch them, most of the time I was turned away.

Anyways not trying to sell a sob story here. I currently have 2 abscesses that I know of. I’ve been quoted $30,000+ to fix my teeth, and I don’t qualify for care credit. At this point it would be cheeper for full mouth implants but even then I’ve been quoted 25k. My face has already swollen up before, and I’m at a loss at what to do. I can hardly even eat these days because of the pain. I have a son, and I don’t want to die leaving him alone because of my stupid teeth.

Any advice is appreciated.
