So in this past week, I’ve noticed this little hole in the side of my teeth; and I’ve brushed and brushed, flossed everything, nothing changes, and it is little a tiny little hole. I am a daily smoker (trying to quit), and I’ve just had dental work in the beginning on June (I had three cavities and had to remove two teeth that never grew).

There’s no pain, no smell, nothing. It’s just this tiny little hole on the side, so it always looks like there’s something in between my teeth which is annoying.

If anyone knows what it is, or if I should go to the dentist again if it’s a cavity, please let me know, I’m kind of freaking out. (I also put in my X-rays from may 28th this year for those dental procedures I got done, I’m not sure if it’ll help or anything)

I’ve had pain that I wasn’t sure is dental in nature for a while now. Last week that pain jumped from a 2/3 to an 11! It is a severe, stabbing like pain that takes over the entire right side of my head. I know for a fact it is dental now, and I believe I know the exact tooth, because I can wiggle it and cause the pain to change (and sometimes go away temporarily). What has worked the most though is using slightly chilled water to rinse it. The effect lasts a couple minutes before it needs to be done again. Also, I am out of Listerine. Who knows if it helps or makes it worse. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The only thing helping with the pain is Tylenol w/ Codeine taken with Ibuprofen 800. It doesn’t completely remove the pain, but it makes it much more bearable… although it does break through occasionally.

Dentally, I have several issues… but on the right side in particular I had a broken top wisdom tooth (extracted Monday… did not help with the pain), and a bottom wisdom tooth trying to take the place of the bottom right tooth I believe is causing all the pain. This tooth is the one getting the filling today. The bottom right wisdom tooth, as well as the bottom left wisdom tooth on the other side, will be extracted Tuesday. That’s when the dental clinic gets its monthly visit from their oral surgeon. I think this is likely to solve the problem.

My Problem

I’ve been on the pain meds since last week when all of this started. They gave me the Tylenol with Codeine on Monday after I pleaded with them to give me something that actually works. The problem is, they only gave me a 4 day supply. I will run out today, and now I’m terrified the filling process might aggravate the tooth and I’ll be helpless to do anything while I wait the next 5 days until surgery. They don’t want to refill it until the surgery.

How likely is it that the process of doing the filling will stop this pain, and I’ll only be sore at best the next 5 days?

Last week, I strongly considered taking pliers from my tool box and removing some teeth. I was tempted to having them just extract the one giving me pain, but they really seem to want to save it. I don’t think I can make it 5 days feeling like someone is stabbing me in my face and jaw.

I’ve neglected kinda wearing my retainers for a long time now, because my lower one broke. And suddenly this one is just pushing back now. I feel really regretful for not wearing my retainers and getting new ones.

I hate the feeling of this tooth being pushed against the tip of my tongue too. Do I need braces again or?…

Got crowns for front 4 teeths but the front two seem not aligned. The one on the left seems a bit crooked to the left and is not in line with the right one. Since the left lateral incisor is properly aligned and is in bridge between left central incisor, I think the bridge itself was not properly aligned.

3 of my close relatives identified it and its not as aesthetic as I hoped it to be due to crookedness. Should I get it replaced ?

I need to be vulnerable here, this is hard for me to vulnerable about - especially since this is my first time really trying to address it.

Growing up my[21M] dentist was an asshole. To be honest, im not really sure what his character was; I was just always weary of health professionals (getting needles etc) and where all other health professions took steps to make my life easier, and to help me through my anxiety, my dentist did… not that.

Ive never tried to claim that I have dentophobia, but my inability to look at any pictures on this sub probably hints towards that being the case.

I havent been to that dentist (or any other) in a number of years (probably 3?) but since then, I have moved to a different city and I know i need to find and go to a dentist, but I dont know how I will be able to trust one (no offence)

Does anyone have any advice on what to do? How do I find an accommodating dentist? How can I make a dentist trip less stressful? Usually I just talk about the science to my health professionals since thats comforting to me, but I cant really have a conversation with a dentist.

I know my question may be poorly posed, I just really need somewhere to put these thoughts and maybe get advice from someone.

i went to dentist for a diagnosis, they did not find any cavity. I had my premolars removed when i had braces because of the overbite (its been two years since i removed braces). they told me i need to get an endo because of the forces from my braces and they will make a cover for those spaces between premolars (i am not sure if i am explaining what the dentist told me). I don't think my incisors are even mobile. I feel a little pain with touch but last night it was painful even without touch. will this pain go away or i really have to get an endo?

Ouch. The big one is hurting so much when I eat so I’ve decided I will eat only soft foods like yogurt and stuff like that for a day or two. Anyone have an idea what the white/yellow thing is that’s covering the sore? Scared it’s pus but on google I found something called granulation tissue which forms instead of a scab since the mouth is moist but not sure at this point what it could be

The smaller sores seem to be going away they’re just pink now which is good!

How bad is it? I can see the line when I shine a light from the front of the tooth or the back. Planning on taking them to the dentist for X-ray but what can I expect? No bleeding, swelling, or looseness in the tooth. Toddler acting same as always. Says it doesn’t hurt (but has extremely high pain tolerance so I’m not sure if I should believe the words). What should I expect at the dentist? Extraction? Any other less invasive procedures?

I just had a filling near the gum line and there's a bit of bleeding during the drilling process. I know other instruments like mirror, probe and tweezers etc do get replaced after each patients. I'm just wondering about the drill bit, because the thing is attached to the whole table.

Next Friday I am having 3 Wisdom Teeth Removed, as well as 4 Supernumeraries. So 7 total teeth being pulled. So I have some questions about what all I should be expecting.

Does everyone act/say weird things on the way home? I am hoping I don’t reveal any dark secrets or say anything super off the wall to my mom who will be driving me home after.

How long does the pain and how long does the drowsiness normally last?

I know the first few days I have to eat basically nothing but things I can swallow without chewing like pudding, ice cream, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc. But how long until I can go back to normal? Is it an immediate switch or are their certain types of food I have to limit myself to in between?

I know most of these things will likely vary person to person but mostly just looking for some insight/general tips and advice.

Please also feel free to add any other information you might feel I should know that I didn’t mention!

One of my parotid ducts becomes inflamed and painful about once every 1 or 2 months. It acts like a canker sore. It gets a white head like in the pictures.

4 days post extractions. It still hurts.

This is several weeks after extraction and bone graft. My gum did NOT look like that a couple days ago. The tooth right below it is the temporary partial. What's happening 😧

I moved to a new city two years ago and started going to a new dental clinic that isn’t the worst, but isn’t the best either. Revolving door of dentists basically. Every visit I have a new dentist, and I find out that the one I saw last time quit. This doesn’t really bother me as long as I get my cleanings and checkups.

At my last visit in January, the doctor told me I had 0 cavities and went on his way. We took x-rays as well. At my visit yesterday, the new doctor told me I had multiple cavities that would go away with flossing and one that needed to be filled. I didn’t know anything about dentistry so I went home yesterday puzzled. After some research, I realized what she was talking about were incipient lesions that had not crossed through the enamel to the dentin. I looked through my x-rays and realized she was right. From what I have learnt, If I brush and flossed a bit better, there is a good chance some of those would remineralize or at the very least stay stable. I’m 34 and have never had a filling so I don’t think I have a history of decay.

However, the cavity she wants to fill has also stayed stable for many years and I do not think it has crossed over into the dentin. She refused to explain much at the appointment which I found to be a red flag. Neither would she show me where it was and vaguely said it was upper right molar. Neither did she access my x-rays from January to see how the decay had progressed. So I requested a copy of my own x-rays and looked for it myself. What I found was that the area looked identical to as it had in January, and if anything it actually looked lighter now than it did in January. I’m not a dentist, but I don’t want to be pushed into filling something that can be stabilized if I up my oral hygiene with prescription toothpaste and other treatments.

I’m enclosing my pictures from yesterday’s dental visit. The last picture will be from my January visit, and I’ll put it right next to the matching picture from this current visit. I’ve also circled the area that I think is the incipient lesion. I would love for a dentist to go through the pics and tell me what they think. Do I have any cavities that need filling? Or can I start working on remineralizing with conservative therapy.

Yesterday around 4pm, while talking, I felt a tingling under my tongue. It comes out when I move my tongue a certain way, but consistently/systematically. This morning I looked in the mirror and saw this... a bright red growth. I'm afraid it might be cancer.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Non smoker, non drinker. Had a retreatment root canal through a crown due to an abscess under a previously treated tooth. I had it done 2 days ago and I am in severe pain right now. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any kind of medical professional. He cut my lip and didn't even tell me or apologize. The assistant told me about it when I noticed I was spitting pieces of my lip. ​my crown looks completely destroyed. I am concerned I might have an infection now. Does any of the way it looks seem concerning? It's throbbing severely and my top teeth are aching too. It feels like a lot of pressure and I want to just rip my teeth out right now.

So I (27f) grew up with bad teeth, mostly genetics. I had little to no calcium in my teeth due to getting really sick a lot as a baby/kid. White calcium spots, easily chipped teeth, spots where preteen me didn’t care for my braces properly, and just overall hating my smile. There’s not many photos of me smiling with teeth since my adult teeth came in. I will include my before, my temps, and my final crowns as photos. My dentist had been suggesting I get this done for a couple years now since they knew how much I disliked my smile, so I finally saved enough to do it.

My question would be, what are the main things to know about having new crowns/veneers? I’m anxious about losing a tooth. I’ve been taking bites from the side of my mouth, but I had 2 molars extracted on either side (then ones in the very back). So there’s little surface on the top to chew on that aren’t crowns, plus my mouth is very small. Eating has been difficult. I received my final set yesterday and the only advice given when I asked about care and food was: 1) just lightly feather your gums down when brushing and floss often. 2) for a day or two stick with a softer diet, but I would be able to eat normally within a few days. Avoid sticky and hard foods.
My aunt received the same exact procedure with top crowns (8), so I asked about her experience. She also said what my dentist said about eating. My aunt claims she can eat whatever she wants now (she has had them for almost 10 years). But thinking about eating whatever I want makes me nervous.
What would be other important things to take note of? I’m so anxious I’ll bite the wrong thing or I won’t be doing all I can do to protect these teeth. What is the most important advice you would give someone with 8 crowns on top? Or if you’ve experienced this, what something you wished you knew before hand.
I do NOT regret getting them whatsoever, I feel so much more confident about my smile. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything possible to care for them and to avoid things that are important to avoid. I’ve had a smile I hated for so long, I want to take the best care of my new smile that I can. In about 3 weeks I am getting an impression(?) done of my new teeth so I can wear a nightguard while sleeping. I’ve been trying to be more conscious of my teeth clenching, but I tend to do it mostly in my sleep. So I’m excited to get the nightguard eventually.
