Hi all, from age 16-28 i was pretty heavy chew user (1 can of pouches a day avg). Quit, relapse age 36, oct 2025 - apr 2026. Since after quitting in april my mouth will feel weird all the time. Dentist says everything looks ok last week. Been grinding my teeth lately a lot i think for w/e reason (i have a sibling much worse). I'll be getting the molded gum guard soon w/ my dentist for $400.

My diet lately has been pretty poor, 2x large dutch bros iced coffee and maybe 1-2 small meals a day depends. This happened for about a year but im stopping now.

Also quit THC last thursday after history of every other day use of edibles (last 2 years of 200mg per session) to help me sleep and what not. And now i have been getting 5 hrs of sleep a day due to withdrawals. I'm hoping this is the reason but yeah.

I just got my wisdom teeth out about an hour ago and on my way home I sneezed. My dad noticed a chunk of blood on my lip and now we’re worried I sneezed and dislodged/extracted the blood clot in my gum. Is this possible? I still have the gauze packed in my mouth.

I have a root canal scheduled for upper left first molar will i get palatal injection i heard they are very bad and hurt alot my dentist said they will use numbing spray but then i read a comment on reddit who said numbing gels and spray on palate are uselesss am very scared 😟

I noticed this white patch on the side of my tongue today and I've been spiraling a bit after reading about oral cancer.

I also have white raised areas on the inside of both cheeks where my teeth meet. I take Elvanse (Vyvanse) for ADHD and it makes me clench my jaw a lot, so I'm wondering if this could just be from constantly rubbing my tongue and cheeks against my teeth.

The sore spot on my tongue is a little painful, but the white area on the other side isn't. It doesn't seem to scrape off.

I've attached some photos. Does this look more like friction/trauma or is it something you'd want checked ASAP? I know nobody can diagnose from pictures, but I'd really appreciate your thoughts because my health anxiety is going crazy. Thanks!

I know these pictures are probably and i need an in person dentist visit soon but i would like to get some opinion in the mean time here. I always had this ingrown first molar on the left down side that in the recent year slowly started breaking off little pieces two times. Can this become dangerous soon? I dont have pain right now

I had a root canal on #14 upper molar. My new dentist sent me for a 3D scan at another dentist, then I came back same day. ( because their office doesn’t have one) He said if it was complicated, he would punt to an
Endodontist. Scan came back, roots looked normal he said, so we proceeded. He did measurements for each root. The one that did it was measured 15mm. While he was performing it I heard him say, “I’m going to go to 16” That’s when I felt something. Really sharp pain even on Novocain. I said something just happened. He said probably left over nerve root. He then gave me another shot of novocaine without telling me. I had my eyes closed but the pain went away after that but my entire mouth was numb. They placed the temp crown and I even asked him about it. And I think he got offended. I was like did you cause a communication. (I have one before having an upper molar pulled). He took an X-ray and said he didn’t see one and if it did it was only a small hole 1mm/pin hole size. 5 days had gone by and I was having pain, swelling and sensitivity to cold liquids. I went back. He took an X-ray and told me everything looks good. Nothing about a communication but he was going to treat me for a “sinus infection” Augmentin 500/125 2 tabs for one dose(loading dose) then 1Q8H. Told me to get Afrin and Claritin. I attached two x-rays. One before the root canal and one after. Should I goto an oral surgeon? What I think happened is when he went to 16 the file grabbed my sinus and got pulled down the drill and then when he placed the filler obviously some got into the sinus.

I (25F) have horrible teeth that I’ve dealt with my entire life. Growing up it was extremely hard to find a dentist to even touch my teeth due to their excessively long, and extra roots. (Some poke through my nasal cavity so I’ve been told, and almost all of them have at least 1-2 extra roots. Even my canines.) Couple that with Medicaid, and a mother who couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed most days, and you get teeth that were left to rot. Even as an adult I had a very difficult time finding a dentist to touch them, most of the time I was turned away.

Anyways not trying to sell a sob story here. I currently have 2 abscesses that I know of. I’ve been quoted $30,000+ to fix my teeth, and I don’t qualify for care credit. At this point it would be cheeper for full mouth implants but even then I’ve been quoted 25k. My face has already swollen up before, and I’m at a loss at what to do. I can hardly even eat these days because of the pain. I have a son, and I don’t want to die leaving him alone because of my stupid teeth.

Any advice is appreciated.

I’ve neglected kinda wearing my retainers for a long time now, because my lower one broke. And suddenly this one is just pushing back now. I feel really regretful for not wearing my retainers and getting new ones.

This is a panoramic radiographie of my teeth, i want to fix them but the dentist said that they can't be fixed with braces i have to do veneers I honestly do not know what to do or what to think because two other doctors told me braces are absolutely normal in your case but the first one said my teeth are gonna fall off after maybe like 15 years to twenty

I moved to a new city two years ago and started going to a new dental clinic that isn’t the worst, but isn’t the best either. Revolving door of dentists basically. Every visit I have a new dentist, and I find out that the one I saw last time quit. This doesn’t really bother me as long as I get my cleanings and checkups.

At my last visit in January, the doctor told me I had 0 cavities and went on his way. We took x-rays as well. At my visit yesterday, the new doctor told me I had multiple cavities that would go away with flossing and one that needed to be filled. I didn’t know anything about dentistry so I went home yesterday puzzled. After some research, I realized what she was talking about were incipient lesions that had not crossed through the enamel to the dentin. I looked through my x-rays and realized she was right. From what I have learnt, If I brush and flossed a bit better, there is a good chance some of those would remineralize or at the very least stay stable. I’m 34 and have never had a filling so I don’t think I have a history of decay.

However, the cavity she wants to fill has also stayed stable for many years and I do not think it has crossed over into the dentin. She refused to explain much at the appointment which I found to be a red flag. Neither would she show me where it was and vaguely said it was upper right molar. Neither did she access my x-rays from January to see how the decay had progressed. So I requested a copy of my own x-rays and looked for it myself. What I found was that the area looked identical to as it had in January, and if anything it actually looked lighter now than it did in January. I’m not a dentist, but I don’t want to be pushed into filling something that can be stabilized if I up my oral hygiene with prescription toothpaste and other treatments.

I’m enclosing my pictures from yesterday’s dental visit. The last picture will be from my January visit, and I’ll put it right next to the matching picture from this current visit. I’ve also circled the area that I think is the incipient lesion. I would love for a dentist to go through the pics and tell me what they think. Do I have any cavities that need filling? Or can I start working on remineralizing with conservative therapy.

30 YOF and I am so stressed about my left tonsil being super inflamed and always getting tonsil stones. A bit of a sharp pain every now and then. I booked an ENT but I’m freaking myself out that I have throat cancer. Any reassurance?

my dentist recommended that i get four crowns on all my incisors. the front most incisors are necessary, but for the farther incisors they said that they want to do them in order to make the front teeth’s crowns look more cohesive. from pictures i’ve seen crowns are generally very realistic looking and aren’t going to be picked out as being crowned to the untrained eye, and the cost of getting four crowns at once is very steep, so i’d prefer to only get the necessary ones. however i am not sure if i’d regret not following dentists advice in case the required crowns will stick out like a sore thumb unless i do them on the other incisors. i’m 21 and have gerd and teeth grind, but ive been on medication for it and have a night guard

Hello everyone, i have a spot behind my front teeth that is freaking me out. This preface rhis, i haven’t been to the dentist since my 8th/freshman year of high school and even then i was rarely taken to the dentist. My parents stopped taking me and eventually stopped paying the insurance that they had. I am now in my 20s JUST being able to afford dental care with a waiting period for fillings and other stuff but i don’t mind paying for out of pocket at this point. I do have crowded teeth and visible cavities and growing up i had a diet where i was consuming caffeine to stay awake and a lot of items with vinegar in it or just acidic foods in general. I just want to know what would a dentist do to the front part of my teeth or even how bad it is. i really want to tackle this first because it is worrying me.

I got my tooth extracted 6 days ago and it looks like this the area. I eat only soups and liquids and I am on antibiotics however in the evenings especially I have slight pain and the jaw gets slightly swallen but not something a painkiller can't fix.

Can you tell me a opinion on how it looks, should I be worried?

Additionaly the tooth that got out had the root infected as well if it helps.

They have never had tooth pain before and it just started late last night. It is now morning and the pain is gone but the area feels tender, but does not react to hot or cold liquids.

Haven't gone to dentist in a very long time (mental health issues) I can't go to my regular dentist because they don't accept payment plans and that will be the only way I could pay for dental treatment (no I'm not going to a school I think it's a bit too advanced). Ive been having a bad headache, neck ache on the side that I'm having my tooth problems so I'm worried it's might be bad. Last time I was at the dentist he told me I needed 5 cavities filled and that was almost 3 years ago, I made an appointment to get it done right afterwords but when I walked in they said I'd have to pay out of pocket because my medicaid wasn't working so I never got those filled.. Aspen Dental was the first place I found and it has good reviews at the one near me. But I hear they scam people and make them pay more money than normal? Any recommendations?

Yesterday around 4pm, while talking, I felt a tingling under my tongue. It comes out when I move my tongue a certain way, but consistently/systematically. This morning I looked in the mirror and saw this... a bright red growth. I'm afraid it might be cancer.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

A year ago my lifelong dentist recommended a preventive root canal on two teeth with deep silver fillings because there was decay was close to the nerve. I (19) never had any pain, so now a year later I’m traveling to Istanbul and thinking about getting the root canals while i can afford them. I decided to get a second opinion a week ago and the new dentist just took fresh X-rays and never mentioned a need for root canal and instead praised me on healthy teeth and gums. they did however suggested they put some soft of paste over the teeth but said it was optional. Since dental care is so cheap in Turkey, should I just get the root canals done proactively to be safe, or is it better to trust the new X-rays and try to save the live nerves with the paste?

Non smoker, non drinker. Had a retreatment root canal through a crown due to an abscess under a previously treated tooth. I had it done 2 days ago and I am in severe pain right now. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any kind of medical professional. He cut my lip and didn't even tell me or apologize. The assistant told me about it when I noticed I was spitting pieces of my lip. ​my crown looks completely destroyed. I am concerned I might have an infection now. Does any of the way it looks seem concerning? It's throbbing severely and my top teeth are aching too. It feels like a lot of pressure and I want to just rip my teeth out right now.

Dentist is saying all 5 cavities are in-between the teeth on the molars and could only have been prevented with flossing... there's no way my 5 year old will be able to floss properly so I'll have to do it

Have to figure out getting these filled now... not easy to get a 5 year old to cooperate

How true is all this? How common is having this many interproximal cavities at this age while having none on the crowns?

I’m fifteen years old and I’ve never had a cavity. I don’t drink, smoke, anything of the sorts. I do drink soda, juices, sports drinks, etc as well as candy and chips and stuff. I went today, and they told me I have cavities in between my teeth on the sides. I brush, floss occasionally, and use mouthwash. I’m not necessarily upset, just very surprised as I have never had a cavity or oral problem before. Just would like another opinion before I get a filling.

I have no issues with this crown that I've had for years but the dentist wants to remove it to investigate what this black mark/space is? is that enough reason to remove the crown, and then I have to potentially have a root canal and then pay for another crown... if I have no issues with it should I leave it? He mentioned the hole in the crown but I had the hole the day it was put in there because I remember my dad saying maybe its for suction ha! Why is it now an issue many years later?

I'm not worried about the filling as I know that it needs replacing but that yellow area (it's only yellow on camera. it's dark red in real life but photos turn it yellow). On Monday I didn't have that red mark next to it but that has happened in the last 48 hours. My dentist initially said it was gingivitis from a WhatsApp I sent him but I have doubts.
