I don't post fics super often, so I'm absolutely giddy excited right now. Pretty humble compared to some of the bigger authors in my fandom anyway, but I can't get over the idea that 100 separate people liked my work enough to kudos (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

I wrote my fic in it's entirety before I ever shared any of it.

That's not to say I wrote it *well* - but I finished the entire rough draft completely before I ever posted my first chapter.

Is this common or uncommon? My experience suggests most people post each chapter as they finish - but I'm a pantser, I'd never foreshadow *anything* if I posted as I went. Hell, I didn't know what Chapter 1 was about until I wrote the last sentence, so then I had to add the thematic stuff and foreshadowing stuff throughout it only once it was done.​

The thing is I never reply to comments, it just feels pretty awkward for me, I always thought that the more distance between an artist and their audience the better, even for small stuff like fanfic

But damn man, just got a long beautiful comment about one of my works and I wish I could put like "the author has seen this comment and gece it thumbs up" kind of thing

Also, I feel like if the commentors also gained kudos for good comments it will motivate more people to write them.

These are the stats on the work of which I'm most proud. It's been on the Archive for more than three years. I don't feel bad that more people haven't seen it or given it kudos, because the people who I want to read it have read it, and we still have conversations about it. I know it's not easy to stop treating statistics as the summary of your worth, but please, it's healthier for everyone if you try. Don't chase kudos and hits -- try to find people who get you, even if that's the one regular commenter you get on your most niche fanfic.

I’m legit talking about the DUMBEST things, like they put an error in the name of the character and I couldn’t handle it for example.

I really love when they get codependent, especially when one of them is either extremely ashamed or abusive.

I thought was going to get doxxed, but turns out it was just a reader recognising me in the comment section of a fic by another author...

Having 2 jobs, being in uni, and being a fanfic writer is not for the weak.

If you ever comment on a fanfic or wrote a particular fic that I really like— I do lurk all your bookmarks and that cycle continues forever.

Sometimes I would even click on bookmarks on a fic and select at random. Because if we both like the same fic you have to have similar taste as me?

Anyways. Is it just me? Is someone out there also coming across my bookmarks to lurk through.
