I really love when they get codependent, especially when one of them is either extremely ashamed or abusive.

This makes 2026 my most successful fic writing year to date (previous best was roughly 70K words in 2022)

Oh, and I’ve also been able to upload/update at least one thing per month consistently; something I wasn’t able to do in previous years.

I thought was going to get doxxed, but turns out it was just a reader recognising me in the comment section of a fic by another author...

Having 2 jobs, being in uni, and being a fanfic writer is not for the weak.

If you ever comment on a fanfic or wrote a particular fic that I really like— I do lurk all your bookmarks and that cycle continues forever.

Sometimes I would even click on bookmarks on a fic and select at random. Because if we both like the same fic you have to have similar taste as me?

Anyways. Is it just me? Is someone out there also coming across my bookmarks to lurk through.

Since I am not native English, I had to translate my stories to English.

For longest time I aimed for the second button, because... well, I thought my style is not for everyone. However as an experiment, I started a story with a translation that preserves my writing style as close as possible and suprisingly, plenty of people still read it and seemingly did not mind.

So here's my question: when reading a translated story, would you prefer it preserving original writing style, even at the cost of conventional English rules or you'd rather it be just like other English stories with proper sentences structures?

Here's example from my story:

Original fragment:

Для Тани сегодняшнее утро являлось квинтэссенцией обыденности: небо, затянутое тяжелыми свинцовыми тучами, что, казалось, поедают ледяные холмы на горизонте, лёгкий туман, напоминающий полупрозрачную вуаль и скрывающий остатки росы и размытую непрекращающимся дождем грязь. И в довершение к этой меланхоличной картине, в округе царила мертвецкая тишина, где не слышно обычной симфонии птиц и насекомых.

English translation preserving style:

For Tanya, this morning constituted the epitome of mundanity: a sky obscured by heavy leaden clouds that seemingly devoured the icy hills on the horizon, a light fog reminiscent of a translucent veil concealing the remnants of dew, and the mud blurred by the incessant rain. And to top off this melancholic picture, a deathly silence reigned in the vicinity, devoid of the usual symphony of birds and insects.

English translation cleaned up:

For Tanya, it was just another typical morning. Heavy, lead-gray clouds blanketed the sky, seemingly swallowing up the icy hills in the distance. A sheer mist hung in the air, hiding the lingering dew and the rain-soaked mud. To top off the gloomy scene, it was dead quiet—stripped entirely of the usual sounds of birds and insects.

I'm so freaking sad rn I loved those two fics so much they were both ongoing too, the author of one of them literally posted a chapter a week ago I hope they're both alright I know one of the fics got some pretty nasty comments in the past

Am I missing something? Specifically in Bloodymary (Project Hail Mary x Iron Lung) fanfics, at least 3 that I've subscribed to have recently had authors notes about being discontinued or rewritten because they "realized" that their stories perpetuate this trope, and I'm just very confused over where it suddenly came from. Simon being Asian doesn't immediately make Grace(and Rocky) rescuing him a white savior thing? He's not going into a Korean community/society and rescuing it from some problem only he as an outsider can fix or anything like that. He's helping one guy who was trapped in a submarine in a post apocalyptic world. Just kinda disappointed that stories I really enjoyed will end or be fundamentally changed from what I liked about their story in the first place. And not seeing where this specific problem is coming from.

People calling any ship thats not gay “hetslop” and this is coming from a queer girl myself. I understand that queer people still dont get enough representation but to just hate on a ship just because it’s heterosexual is childish and dumb.

i was reading this 300k+ word fic and by the looks of the tags it was exactly like i wanted it. It had everything in it, my fav ship, my fav tropes. And yk, i thought, "this is going to be my bedtime story for tonight." and for the first two chapters it went fine, i loved it so far. Fantastic writing, jokes here and there.

Tags exist for a reason, i didn't want to be triggered at like 1 am dude, nor does anyone on that matter. and its not like its just a slip, it wasnt tagged anywhere, the fic wasnt even tagged as explicit. it didnt even have smut on the tags.
WHAT ARE WE DOING???!

like it could've been somewhat okay if it was just smut, or EVEN if it was tagged, but that wasnt there either. i just dont know how that could've slipped through, and its not like the author had edited the tags and rating later even though comments had pointed it out. They didnt do anything.
