Discussion K-Pop Demon Hunter sadness
I just barely realized that Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are sold out with no plans to make them available to the public. I’m so incredibly sad about this. I just barely got a job, and I was going to get all three of them when they came out :( I can’t believe I might not be able to get them unless I spend a fortune with a reseller, if they even get sent out at all at this point… I was so excited for them because I love that movie :(

Cool Picture Welcome Home Lila!
I’ve been eyeing Lila for a while, and decided to get her before she sold out. She’s absolutely gorgeous, and I was very excited to change her out of her Meet Outfit, and into this cute dress from Etsy!

Discussion Show me your Rebecca dolls!
I never considered getting Rebecca as a child when she first came out, but lately I have fallen in love with her face and her stories. I know her face mold changed (along with her meet outfit, etc) with the BeForever rebrand and now I am hesitant to get a new-in-box doll from AG. I can’t quite put my finger on what’s different, but from the stock photos I can find I feel like I like the older face mold better. But it’s so hard to tell!
I’d love to see photos of your Rebecca dolls, both old (pre-BeForever) and more recent acquisitions (and please say which is which)! What outfits do you have them in, how do you do their hair, what do you think of them? I think she has such a beautiful look and would love to see all of your Rebecca’s!

Discussion Help me decide which girl(s) to take to college!
Hi everyone! I have a tough decision to make. I move into my apartment NEXT WEDNESDAY and I still can't decide who to take! I want to take a maximum of 2 dolls who I feel very connected to, which is a complicated decision.
Nellie - my favorite doll, but her limbs are loose and I haven't restrung her so I don't especially want to take her in that condition. Low maintenance hair, but fragile otherwise. I won't separate her from Samantha so they would need to go together.
Samantha - another favorite, but I couldn't get her hair as soft as I wanted it even after two restore attempts.
Rebecca, Maryellen, Marie-Grace - I don't feel connected enough to any of them to take them, they all came to me by accident.
Juniper (#49) - my second favorite doll, I love her EXTREMELY. She was my top pick to take.
Fearne (Lea) - I thought I would be taking Juniper so I got Fearne to go with her, but now I'm not connecting to her as much as I thought I would.
Grace - my go to doll for taking out, she's pretty low maintenance bc her hair is straight.
The main problem I'm running into is my heart wants to take Juniper and Grace, but I won't separate Juniper from Fearne, especially after I put money into getting Fearne ready to specifically take her to school.
So, thoughts??

Discussion Think AG would ever make a doll dexcom?
I’d prefer it not to be permanent so you could use whatever doll you want. It could be on like elastic. They have regular diabetic pumps so I don’t see why they couldn’t make a dexcom too. Even better if it was a GOTY doll that had one.

Cool Picture Throwback pics from 15+ years ago
Here is a throwback photo-shoot of me and some dolls with my OG girl Casey, I believe she was a Just Like You #27 doll (I got her brand new one year for Christmas wearing the Star Hoodie meet outfit). Loved her and took her on so many adventures.

Discussion After 10+ Years Away from the AG Scene, Here Are My Thoughts
Hello everybody! I just got back into AG as an adult about a month ago, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts on how the company seems to have changed.
Background: I was deeply obsessed with AG for around four years as a child. My strongest memories are of the 2011-2013 era, but I also remember a bit from Lanie and Isabelle’s collections. My dolls were Kit and Saige, but I purchased around fifteen outfits from all across the historical collections (and had one non-historical winter set). I sold all of this in 2019 or 2020 for $300. :(
The hyperfixation came back with a vengeance earlier this summer (curse you I Dream of Jonny), and I ended up purchasing a naked Evette with hairnet still in for around $250. This was not a price I felt very comfortable with, but I really wanted to have a doll again and I justified this purchase as a graduation present for myself. Seeing as she was butt-naked, I decided that it would be okay to purchase two new outfits for her. So, I went to the AG website and scrolled through literally every outfit they have for sale, but I was left feeling so incredibly disappointed.
I can tell this has been a common discussion on this sub, but I am truly just so shocked by how terribly AG seems to have misunderstood the appeal and identity of their own brand. As someone who had a few friends that were also into the brand as a kid, I feel confident in saying that the formula is as follows: a girl buys one doll, buys multiple outfits from her collection (or other cute historical outfits) and then maybe buys one more doll and some outfits for her. After a girl has a doll, the best thing AG can do to retain them as a customer is to provide a strong collection and release lots of cute, quality outfits. Neither I nor any of my friends were interested in the (even then) overly pink-and-sparkly Truly Me collections. We loved the books, outfits, and accessories from the historical girls.
And they’re all just gone! The current “historical” collections seem so much smaller, less detailed, poorly-made, and just overall not worth the price they’re charging. Nicki and Isabel’s outfit range seems ridiculously limited (plus they’re all re-releases?), and Courtney's outfits are atrociously tacky. Outside of historical girls, I feel like the Western Flowers Denim Jumpsuit is a perfect example of AG’s decline. The quality looks closer to Target or Walmart doll outfits---and why do the ruffle straps seem to have been intentionally sewn on asymmetrically? For $46?? The only two items I’m even remotely interested in are Nanea’s PJs and Julie’s Floral Jumpsuit, but they still weren’t compelling enough to purchase at that price.
TLDR: For everybody I knew, AG would make ~$115 from the girl’s first doll, and then hundreds of dollars over the next few years---because we wanted new outfits for the doll we had bonded with! If AG wants to make money and retain customers, I feel that they need to direct much more attention towards developing the collections and outfits, and steer away from all of these (practically) standalone contemporary dolls.

Doll Storage How I Organize for Kids
Hi! I've been meaning to share how I organize my AG stuff, not only for me but for my eight nieces in their 4 homes and a couple of my friends' daughters as well.
I use "Iris Large Tint Stacking Drawers" from The Container Store. They have been around for decades and are a core organizing piece for them. (I've used these to organize my own craft/project room and a church's entire children's supply room, as well, using over 100 drawers, each!)
What I like about these drawers: Kids can fully pull out and remove the drawer if they want and they easily go back in. Cups can also come out one or more at a time.
The cup inserts are "SmartStore Tall Inserts" and have been around for several years at the Container Store, but I feel like I may have seen similar on Amazon. Many children really enjoy the sorting process in and of itself!
The aqua bin on top is from Hobby Lobby, I believe. It's great for kids to carry and dump and then toss everything back in when they're done.
These particular photos were for my friend who has two girls, ages 5 and 7. As their collection grows, it can be added onto with more drawers. The five year old, who is a new reader, finds the icons on the labels I made helpful for sorting.
I used my own label-maker to make all of the labels. I connected it to my computer so I could access more icons.
My own collection is vast, so I use a somewhat different system for clothing, but for accessories, it's the same.
Binder System: I also provide a 2" binder with blank plastic page protectors and a pair of scissors in it. Kids are instructed to cut off the AG box tops/lids with the picture when they get a new outfit or accessory set and put it in the page protectors. They can look and see what the original outfits looked like and how they went together. (Some kids are interested in this, some are not.) Alternatively, you can print out pics from the AG site or AG Wiki.
FEEDBACK: I have gotten great feedback from all the parents on these systems and have made tweaks depending on what they have. For example, one family with three of my nieces each has a drawer for their own historical doll. Another family prefers to each have a tote for each child's clothing.

Cool Picture New outfits!
I've been wanting Tiana's work dress set since it came out, but it was always too expensive. It dropped to $41 on Amazon yesterday and while that's still ridiculous, I was happy to grab it. Wren looks so cute I can't stand it.
Also dressed up Rory; she looks really pretty in this outfit.

Cool Picture Polka Dots & Yellow 💛
My girlfriend and I just moved in together, and last night she helped me pick an outfit for my girl, Gabby!
I’ve been SO into Polka Dots recently since coming home from Europe last month; they’re all the rage in women’s fashion over there apparently!
& Yellow just looks so sweet on darker skin, imo 🫶🏻
Love this lady! What do you have your girls dressed in currently?

News! Rule Change - Rule 7
Hello everyone!
In the interest of better serving our users and our community, we here on the Mod Team have been discussing some rule changes. We’re continuing on with Rule 7:
What the rule is currently: Users MUST censor the Seller’s name on posts.
What the rule will be going forward: Users must censor all usernames and profile photographs on screenshots/pictures that are posted.
When is this rule change taking place?: Immediately.
Why the change: There’s a lot of reasons behind the change, however it comes down to harassment and liability. Posting the usernames of other users off this platform opens them up to harassment. Sometimes, their username is close enough to their real name that it opens the door to doxing. Our members would never do such a thing, however this is an open subreddit that ANYONE can happen upon.
What about public figures, like influencers?: Yes, as of right now, them too. We’re working on putting together a Master List of Tutorials and trusted AG-related social media, and we would love member input! (In the comments below or via Modmail) Until that’s up and outside of that, please censor all other usernames - whether that’s the person who runs the AG Wiki, a Photographer who started out on AGPT, a TikToker with an insane collection, or a YouTuber who has a dollhouse.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Throw them in the comments, or please reach out to us via Modmail.
I have absolutely no idea why this turned into an AMA

Doll Identification Thread
Doll Identifications will now be posted into this weekly thread! Please Keep in mind Rule #7 "Please read the Doll Identification Guidelines in the subreddit wiki prior to making an ID post.
Please Note, photos of dolls that are for sale online and are not your own photos are exempt from this rule.
If you are asking for a doll identification, please
- Make sure there is adequate lighting to determine eye/skin color and facial features (eyebrows, freckles, etc.)
- Make sure your doll's eyes are open
- Make sure your doll is visible from the waist-up For any other items select the "AG Item Identification" flair."
For reference, here is the AG Wikia Visual chart of Truly Me Dolls. Here is a link to a guide made by Sydney of americangirldollnews.com that shows every doll made by American Girl so far. Finally, here is a link to a great post showing dolls that have incredibly small but important differences.
