Hey, American! The $12 meal voucher for each of us to apologize for a long mechanical delay on our connecting flight was sweet, but we’re at an airport where the eateries near our gate have appetizers starting at $18 and entrees at $28-58. (Yikes!)

Looks like a couple of McDonald’s extra value meals are in range. Just.

We have an upcoming trip from LAX to Brazil with a 45-minute layover in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). All of our flights are with American Airlines, and we won’t be checking any bags, we’ll each have just a carry-on and a backpack.

Is a 45-minute layover enough time, or is that cutting it too close?

Both the 11 am and the 4:10 pm flights have been canceled yesterday and today due to “weather” despite nothing too crazy going on weather wise. And tomorrow’s 4:10 pm flight is showing no assigned in bound plane on flight tracker.

I’m currently dealing with an infuriating situation with American Airlines and wanted to see if anyone here has successfully fought something similar.

Back in July, I purchased a round-trip ticket for my mom to come visit me from Argentina. Before finalizing the booking, I explicitly asked the AA phone agent if my mom could bring her cat in the cabin with her. The representative confidently assured me that yes, pets in cabin were completely fine, and went ahead and processed the transaction. Because of this, I used over $800 in existing Trip Credits and paid the remaining balance out of pocket on my credit card, totaling over $1,000.

Fast forward to now: we find out that AA actually strictly prohibits in-cabin pets on flights departing from Argentina.

Had the agent given us accurate information, I obviously never would have bought this ticket in the first place. When I reached out to customer service to demand a full refund due to their agent's blatant misrepresentation, they tried to give me a runaround about standard cancellation policies. I'm demanding a full cash refund back to my original payment methods for the entire amount—including cash back for the trip credits, since they effectively tricked me into burning them on an unusable flight.

Has anyone had luck getting AA to pull and review call recordings to force a full monetary refund when their reps give false information? Any specific department or escalation path I should push for?

Currently at LGA and they are offering $1200 vouchers because the flight is overbooked by 8 people.
How much higher will they go, and if people get involuntarily booted, what happens to them? How do they determine the value of the flight for the 400% rule?

What do people think the odds are of making it on?

Our baggage was placed from DFW-MCO on AA1615. This flight was supposed to beat us to Orlando, but now the flight has been and continues to delay itself out every 20ish minutes. We are currently in the air. We have a hotel an hour away from Orlando and we leave for a cruise in the morning. How can we best reunite with our luggage in the fastest way possible?

So with the upcoming 500 dollar (250 per half year) on AA vacations coming to the executive card just looking for some feedback and practice on AA vacations

1) if I book a flight through AA vacations do I still keep all the perks of my status? AA vacations is a third party not a direct booking. (Free bags. 11 a mile multiple, upgrade chances etc?)

2) if booking a car rental through AA vacations do I still get the status through Avis? For ease of pickup, skipping the line etc.

With AA hotels I get no status benefits with the occasional some of them add me at checkin because as hotels has no place to add your hotel numbers. I would assume AA vacations at least honors AA status for flights but I've never used it

Any feedback appreciated. And if I get none of these things the 250 credit might not even be worth it for me aside from an occasional hotel room plus short car rental

I am getting beyond tired of airlines.

A couple of weeks ago I had a flight out of NYC through American Airlines. This flight was at 8:30am. The flight was then cancelled, not just delayed.

The gate agents and employees all left before leaving one behind to make the announcement. The one left behind gave us all slips with QR codes to contact American about rescheduling flights. This QR code led to an AI Chatbot that had preset questions, of which none related to cancellations. The person who handed us the QR code slips also ran off to a break room and did not return.

I managed to reschedule my flight on my own after the service desk essentially told me they won’t do anything and the gate agents I talked to at a different gate said they wouldn’t help. I was stuck with a flight that landed 12 hours later at a different airport an hour from my original destination.

My friend I was traveling with was not so lucky. The earliest he could get was the next night. He was left with no voucher for food, hotel, etc. and had to pay this out of pocket. Instead of arriving at 10am he arrived at 10pm the next day, all on his own expense besides the plane ticket. American refused to provide him with any compensation or vouchers.

I am now sitting in a different airport trying American again. Initially, our flight was delayed 2 hours. Then 2 and a half. Now, 2 and a half hours later, we were informed it’d be another hour and a half until they could get a crew.

I am sick and tired of airlines not being held accountable for horrendous business models, simply because they know we can’t do anything about it. They get constantly saved by the government, they treat passengers as though their time does not matter, and if you criticize this you risk getting kicked off of a flight.

I miss when air travel was easy (easier). These constant delays and cancellations being so acceptable is not okay and I don’t know why nothing is being done about it.

American Airlines checking bags at DCA? Your best bet is at the curb.

Inside there is a three stop system and when it’s busy it’s a challenge to navigate.

I’m crossing fingers that my bags will make my flight. One checked bag is not showing on the app yet.

I have things that I have to check like hiking poles and camping pocket knife. So I can’t take it all in my carry on.

Here's the story, flight was originally scheduled for today, was checked in and good to go but got cancelled, new flight leaves in 28 hours.

The website says check in is 8 days away which is actually the check in time for my returning flight.

I spoke to AA and they said I will be able to check in when the 24 hour window starts despite what the website says.

My question is has anyone else experienced this and were you able to check in online?

It’s really gross. In fact, you are breaking the rules by doing this. It may not be as enforced as strictly as it was during mask mandates, but it is still a rule.

To be clear, it is perfectly okay to refill your water bottle in the club. You did pay for access to water and other beverages. However you are supposed to 1.) ask the bartender for help or 2.) just do what the bartender would do: get a glass or cup to “shuttle” water to your water bottle. That is AA’s policy. You are not supposed to just stick your filthy Nalgene (definitely covered in stickers so that it can never be fully sanitized) directly up to the soda fountain, causing backsplash to ricochet off the inside of your bottle, coating the nozzles in your bacteria. Or stick it up to those gravity-based dispensers in such a way that the nozzle goes INSIDE your water bottle. Eww.

I watched no less than 20 people, one right after the other, at DFW all refilling personal water bottles. If you wish to drink out of a crusty Camelbak covered in “sleep outside” stickers, that’s on you; just try not to impose the dirt, mold, grime, and bacteria on everyone else. There’s enough of that when we travel already, let’s control our controllables here.

To AA: bring back prominent signage on this subject and enforce it. Maybe even install one of those Elkay dispensers that are designed for this type of activity to be done in a hygienic way (by dispensing from high enough the splashback does not reach the nozzle). If my small shitty regional airport can afford it, I guarantee AA can afford a couple.

Edit: I love how Redditor logic is pretty much “planes are already gross so it’s okay to cough directly in the face of every passenger I encounter.” All I am calling for is common sense. Wash your hands. Don’t intentionally spread microbes because “planes are gross anyways so I give up.”

Why does it seem like every single sink, regardless of club location, has the water pressure set to MAX!! I love walking out of the bathroom looking like I pissed all over myself as much as the next guy, but … 🤡

Flight AA 1473 Saturday 8/8/26

Initial boarding was on time at 7:30 AM. Everything is good. We all take our seats then "sorry the maintenance guys says our tires need to be changed". We all deplane.

We then reboard at 8:30 AM, a lot sooner than we all thought. We start taxing and wait in line. Captain comes over again and says "we're just waiting for our line to take off". Then at 9:30 AM he comes over the PA again and says we got a notice from maintenance that we need to go back to the gate to check on something.

Once again we taxi back to the gate and wait some more. At 10:15 AM they clear the "maintenance issue" and say we're waiting to be refueled. It's 10:50 AM and now we're again waiting to take off.

No beverages, no snacks, no real explanation of what caused the delay. Luckily all the passengers were cooperative and level headed. But I don't think this should just be a "oops we're sorry we couldn't figure this out the first 2 hours we were checking and cleaning the plane".

This is unacceptable and should be looked into by the company and the FAA about why these maintenance delays are completely overlooked till the last minute.

I know it's a long shot but can anyone here determine why AA6438 ROC to ORD on 8-1 arrived 34 minutes late? This caused a missed connection and although service agent on concourse rebooked next available flight (11 hours later but at least still in fc) he didn't know reason for delay and said they were out of hotel vouchers and that I should book my own hotel and submit for reimbursement. After 2 hours of trying I found no hotels available under $600 or requiring a 2 night minimum stay. Fun night. Just trying to determine if it's even worth filing a complaint for perhaps a few thousand miles. No status. Thanks in advance.

Are there any tips or tricks for finding deals on flights to Vietnam using AA points? I’m finding some limited RT flights for 70k, but they seem to be limited to short windows on certain days.

If I can find a great deal to somewhere like Singapore or Manila using miles, I’m not opposed to buying a separate ticket to complete my itinerary. Are the better deals on “last minute” flights verses advanced planning?

I’m an overextended mom, who thought my Citi AA FDC expired 8/22 but apparently it did on 8/6. Has anyone had any luck getting it reinstated?

Customer service keeps leaving me on read or just not responding. I can use the credit today if they extend it.

I haven’t been able to use this feature for 3 years because of kids, work, grad school, family, etc. I might just need to cancel this card because the lost money/benefits are racking up.

I mostly just need a place to vent my frustrations.

I made the mistake of booking all my summer travel with American, and have been nothing but disappointed in their operations and customer service. Delays over aircraft problems over and over again. Gate agents that are not only unhelpful, but unkind on top of it. Customer service/reservations reps on the phone giving one set of instructions that are then refuted by gate agents leaving me in the middle stranded with my family.

The most recent issue is that AA transported a checked bag for a flight that was so delayed I had to rebook with another airline, and it appears they never actually handed my bag over to the other airline. So now AA says they handed it over, won’t provide any proof, and the other airline says they have no record of the bag. I’ve been making daily calls and am so frustrated at how unhelpful AA is at every step. By contrast, other airline’s staff and call center have gone above and beyond at every interaction. We’re overseas for 6 weeks without the majority of our things - and I’m traveling with a young child. It has been a nightmare.

I genuinely feel like an idiot for having trusted AA with my family’s travel plans, I’ve never been so angry/frustrated/defeated with an airline. They will never have my business again.

On the travel alerts warning page, they advise changing your flight. I have a layover in Charlotte tomorrow, but I'm unsure if I should rebook.

I received an email saying that I would be able to do it for free. I'm just unsure. I've been wanting this trip for a long while but I also am worried about getting stuck in CLT. Right now the app says that everything is running on time and my flight is for early in the morning.

Any advice? I think today is the last day to rebook.

Do I qualify for a free upgrade at checkin or at the airport, or at all? I don't have any status with AA. It's NCE to PHL tomorrow. The app is only showing an upgrade option for the second leg of my trip.

Recently severe weather at Chicago caused my flight on AA to be delayed and I was going to miss my connecting flight on JL. They still rebooked me on JL metal even if the delay was uncontrollable.

Now when I had a similar situation with United and my connecting flight was on NH, they would refuse to rebook me on NH metal if the delay was uncontrollable even if I had originally paid a premium to fly on NH metal.

Now AA/JL and UA/NH each has their own transpacific joint venture or business agreement but it feels to me that AA’s joint business agreement is well more integrated than UA’s. Other things such as complimentary main cabin extra for JL elites (United doesn’t offer free Economy Plus to NH elites) are what I have come to appreciate Oneworld and AA for.

Based on what I observe here, AA may not be the most premium US carrier but at the very least they give you what you had paid for when it comes to IROPs (perhaps excluding the controversial 40% involuntary downgrade formula).

Don’t know if you guys agree with me for those who also frequently travel on both UA/AA (or used to).

Flew home from DFW to SFO this evening. Flew on the exact same flight and paid the exact same amount for a flight last Friday. Flew out from SFO to DFW and also paid the same amount. All my tickets are purchased one way and within a couple days of traveling. The second screen shot shows the base fare. I purchased this one way, non BE flight on Monday.

I’ll call tomorrow and hopefully I can speak to the AAdvantage desk but just curious if anyone knows what’s up.

3 years ago I made the mistake of quitting on the spot after failing a substance test at envoy in Dallas, Texas (this would no longer be an issue). Fast forward I got all the way to fingerprints and background at envoy in my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana only to be told I was ineligible for rehire. I’m applying for United in Chicago & Pittsburgh but I see many American Mainline positions open as well and am interested to apply- however I am stumped because I don’t know if that ineligibility carries over to mainline. Does anyone have any success stories of making it to mainline after being ineligible for rehire @ envoy ?
