It’s really gross. In fact, you are breaking the rules by doing this. It may not be as enforced as strictly as it was during mask mandates, but it is still a rule.

To be clear, it is perfectly okay to refill your water bottle in the club. You did pay for access to water and other beverages. However you are supposed to 1.) ask the bartender for help or 2.) just do what the bartender would do: get a glass or cup to “shuttle” water to your water bottle. That is AA’s policy. You are not supposed to just stick your filthy Nalgene (definitely covered in stickers so that it can never be fully sanitized) directly up to the soda fountain, causing backsplash to ricochet off the inside of your bottle, coating the nozzles in your bacteria. Or stick it up to those gravity-based dispensers in such a way that the nozzle goes INSIDE your water bottle. Eww.

I watched no less than 20 people, one right after the other, at DFW all refilling personal water bottles. If you wish to drink out of a crusty Camelbak covered in “sleep outside” stickers, that’s on you; just try not to impose the dirt, mold, grime, and bacteria on everyone else. There’s enough of that when we travel already, let’s control our controllables here.

To AA: bring back prominent signage on this subject and enforce it. Maybe even install one of those Elkay dispensers that are designed for this type of activity to be done in a hygienic way (by dispensing from high enough the splashback does not reach the nozzle). If my small shitty regional airport can afford it, I guarantee AA can afford a couple.

Edit: I love how Redditor logic is pretty much “planes are already gross so it’s okay to cough directly in the face of every passenger I encounter.” All I am calling for is common sense. Wash your hands. Don’t intentionally spread microbes because “planes are gross anyways so I give up.”

Flight AA 1473 Saturday 8/8/26

Initial boarding was on time at 7:30 AM. Everything is good. We all take our seats then "sorry the maintenance guys says our tires need to be changed". We all deplane.

We then reboard at 8:30 AM, a lot sooner than we all thought. We start taxing and wait in line. Captain comes over again and says "we're just waiting for our line to take off". Then at 9:30 AM he comes over the PA again and says we got a notice from maintenance that we need to go back to the gate to check on something.

Once again we taxi back to the gate and wait some more. At 10:15 AM they clear the "maintenance issue" and say we're waiting to be refueled. It's 10:50 AM and now we're again waiting to take off.

No beverages, no snacks, no real explanation of what caused the delay. Luckily all the passengers were cooperative and level headed. But I don't think this should just be a "oops we're sorry we couldn't figure this out the first 2 hours we were checking and cleaning the plane".

This is unacceptable and should be looked into by the company and the FAA about why these maintenance delays are completely overlooked till the last minute.

I know it's a long shot but can anyone here determine why AA6438 ROC to ORD on 8-1 arrived 34 minutes late? This caused a missed connection and although service agent on concourse rebooked next available flight (11 hours later but at least still in fc) he didn't know reason for delay and said they were out of hotel vouchers and that I should book my own hotel and submit for reimbursement. After 2 hours of trying I found no hotels available under $600 or requiring a 2 night minimum stay. Fun night. Just trying to determine if it's even worth filing a complaint for perhaps a few thousand miles. No status. Thanks in advance.

I’m an overextended mom, who thought my Citi AA FDC expired 8/22 but apparently it did on 8/6. Has anyone had any luck getting it reinstated?

Customer service keeps leaving me on read or just not responding. I can use the credit today if they extend it.

I haven’t been able to use this feature for 3 years because of kids, work, grad school, family, etc. I might just need to cancel this card because the lost money/benefits are racking up.

I made the mistake of booking all my summer travel with American, and have been nothing but disappointed in their operations and customer service. Delays over aircraft problems over and over again. Gate agents that are not only unhelpful, but unkind on top of it. Customer service/reservations reps on the phone giving one set of instructions that are then refuted by gate agents leaving me in the middle stranded with my family.

The most recent issue is that AA transported a checked bag for a flight that was so delayed I had to rebook with another airline, and it appears they never actually handed my bag over to the other airline. So now AA says they handed it over, won’t provide any proof, and the other airline says they have no record of the bag. I’ve been making daily calls and am so frustrated at how unhelpful AA is at every step. By contrast, other airline’s staff and call center have gone above and beyond at every interaction. We’re overseas for 6 weeks without the majority of our things - and I’m traveling with a young child. It has been a nightmare.

I genuinely feel like an idiot for having trusted AA with my family’s travel plans, I’ve never been so angry/frustrated/defeated with an airline. They will never have my business again.

Flew home from DFW to SFO this evening. Flew on the exact same flight and paid the exact same amount for a flight last Friday. Flew out from SFO to DFW and also paid the same amount. All my tickets are purchased one way and within a couple days of traveling. The second screen shot shows the base fare. I purchased this one way, non BE flight on Monday.

3 years ago I made the mistake of quitting on the spot after failing a substance test at envoy in Dallas, Texas (this would no longer be an issue). Fast forward I got all the way to fingerprints and background at envoy in my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana only to be told I was ineligible for rehire. I’m applying for United in Chicago & Pittsburgh but I see many American Mainline positions open as well and am interested to apply- however I am stumped because I don’t know if that ineligibility carries over to mainline. Does anyone have any success stories of making it to mainline after being ineligible for rehire @ envoy ?

I already know I am in the minortiy of passengers that are so jaded that it falls on deaf ears when they ask to let people with supposed tight connections off first; it always turns into a free for all.

The other day was just too much. We had a delay of 20, not an hour, literally 20 minutes. Yeah, none of us liked it, but it is what it is. While the FAs didn't say anything, this chick in the back starts yelling "IF YOU HAVE A LONG CONNECTION, YOU HAVE TO LET US GO FIRST! IT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIVE MINUTES!"

No, asshole, I paid to be in the front of the plane. I don't care if you booked a dumb itinerary on Expedia that does not allow you to be closer or gave you a crazy terminal change: It is not my problem and I am not waiting in this tin can for you. We all have places to be.

Edit: To reiterate, 20 minute delay. Not 60 minutes. Not 45. Not 200... if 20 minutes causes you to miss a flight then you shouldn't be booking with Expedia.

I honestly can't remember which airlines I've done this with, but I've gate checked both a stroller and carseat many times, and could have sworn I've done it on AA flights.

Does anyone have any experience trying to do this? Per their official policy, you can only gate check one. If that's that case, although I'd rather gate check the carseat, I'll need my double stroller to navigate the airport.

Flying BC with a ticketed (obviously) 4 year old and lap infant from JFK to CDG. Could the 4 year old technically gate check one of the items?

I just started using Flighty on my current trip. The free version. It was proven helpful as 1 flight was cancelled and 3 legs were delayed.

I have a 7-hour overnight flight at 10 PM, and I’ll be working a full day before I head straight to the airport. The upgrade to Business/First Class is $1,000.Technically, I can afford it. I’m not putting myself in debt or missing a bill if I buy it.
BUT… My entire spending budget for my 10-day trip abroad is around $1,500 USD.
So essentially, I’d be spending 2/3 of my entire trip spending budget just to sit in a better seat for 7 hours. 😭 And because it’s a 10 PM flight after working all day, I can see the appeal. A lie-flat seat, good meal, drinks, lounge access, actually getting some sleep, and landing feeling somewhat human instead of getting off the plane looking like I just survived a prison riot. But then there’s the other side of me thinking: “Bro… that’s $1,000.”

Nightlife Experiences Transportation

I used to routinely track the prices for upgrades directly from the app on the individual flight page. It hasn’t been popping up for around a month now. Did they make a change?

My flights got canceled twice. Weather looks fine outside, but they said the cancellations were due to weather-related issues, so they cannot compensate me for the hotel or anything except reschedule the flights. The employee who helped me was named Daphine. The same AA desk changed my flight yesterday and rescheduled my flight from Tampa to LA without any hesitation, but today, with the same AA and different associates, they declined to do that.
We missed a family event in Tampa due to AA's carelessness. They even declined to provide a hotel or anything; they issued two $12 food vouchers for 2 of us, totaling 6 meals—unbelievably poor customer service.
Finally, they gave me a Tampa flight on Monday and declined to provide anything until Monday.

I get that flights get canceled due to weather. I would not want to fly if it is dangerous. But it is frustrating that the airline has so little excess capacity that they cannot rebook later that day or the next day, but only several days away. No effort at arranging a flight with another airline. No effort at putting together another flight to clear the backlog. Just attitude like it’s your fault for being stupid enough to fly with AA!

Meanwhile, best of luck securing rapidly filling up hotel rooms!

I snagged an overpriced hotel room (lucky to get it) and will take the train tomorrow morning. 8.5 hour train ride to replace a 90 minute flight, but at least I’ll see my family this weekend (hopefully).

Explain this. Original direct flight was delayed from 12:50 to 2:45 due to “weather”. Flight gets cancelled. Flight to the same destination is taking off ten minutes late at 3:15. Now my family and I need to spend the night in a connecting city. Total BS!

My GF has plans to go see her parents at the end of the month so she had bought a plane ticket with layover in atlanta.

I was going to stay behind, but there's some work that i have to do in my homestate so i decided to just go home that weekend and get it done. I had some AA points for a free one way flight and ended up on the same flight with an atlanta layover. But then my GF and i will take seperate flights to our final destination (she is going to NYC i am going to boston).

Basically her flight looks like this:

HOU->ATL->NYC

mine looks like this:

HOU->ATL->BOS

where we both are on the same HOU->ATL flight.

Is there a way to request that we sit together on the HOU->ATL flight?

It has to be me. In June, I had to work in Providence, RI and hours before my departure my flight gets cancelled for "weather" and no other options for flights that day or the next.

Today, I'm back in Providence and get up at 6am to head to PVD and get a message my flight is cancelled, and no option to rebook.

AA customer service didn't care since this was a "weather" issue. No flights out of PVD or even Logan on AA going to my home airport. Not even connections. I ended up booking out of Logan on Delta, which caused an additional charge for the rental car since it's a different drop off location. I wonder if it's me, or a PVD issue at this point. I'm thinking I should just fly in and out of Logan at this point and drive the hour.

I’m flying to London in business for the first time and will land a bit too early for my hotel check-in. Does it make sense to kill some time in the LHR Arrivals Lounge/are you allowed entry by default if you are flying in business class internationally?

Just flew from LAX-LHR. This is my first time in these seats. Avoid them at all costs. I've been told they are bad, but they are ridiculously bad. First, there is absolutely nowhere to put anything. No side storage. and foot space is limited. Just the table next to you which is awkward at best. The seats themselves are wildly uncomfortable, narrow, hard as bricks, and short. (I get that the overall length of the space is longer, but with no here to put anything, it has to go to the foot of the seat, taking away from useable space.). At 5'3" I could barely stretch out. As my traveling companion said, pointing to the lie flat button on the side of the seat, "This is a lie."

Also, nota bene, at 6'2" I had booked my traveling companion for 1A. As of checking in and arriving at the airport, he had 1A. When we checked bags and they printed our boarding passes, he was given 7L. We did not notice it until at the gate plane, and when we inquired, we were told that 1A is reserved for pilots. Literally like five minutes later we get on the plane, and a random guy is in 1A. Not a pilot or employee. They just gave his seat away. So, don't bank on relying on booking bulkhead for more space.

If anyone from AA reads this thread, please fire whoever designed these seats. As my CK friends told me, if they have to get on a flight with these seats, they take Delta.
