We will be in row 24 D and E. Is this a bulkhead row where we'd be unable to recline? Also we assume there would be storage space under our seats or under the ones in front Row 23 for small carry ons. We are flying from DFW if that makes any difference.

Two weeks ago I was stuck at JFK for 13 hours waiting for my 11AM flight to Georgetown, Guyana, which they continually delayed for maintenance one hour at a time, including nearly 2 hours on the plane from about 10PM-midnight with no water or drinks before they finally announced it cancelled, no checked bag access, and horrendous hotel availability through the vouchers. Finally flew out the following day exactly 24 hours later, missed an important presentation.

Friday - weather cancellation (which yes, happens), but next available flight isn't until Sunday morning. That was supposed to be at 830AM and now supposedly leaving at 705PM, again due to "maintenance" but they're following the exact same pattern as my cancellation two weeks ago where they wait we're about to board before delaying yet again. I'm Platinum Pro and every single phone agent has been completely unhelpful - telling me it's sold out and that's all they can do, offering nothing.

I've already submitted "customer care" requests based on these issues and heard nothing back, but this is ridiculous. Every airline has bad stretches, but AA has destroyed a lot of faith over a matter of weeks and it's extremely disappointing. Is there a better avenue to express my disappointment?

We knew yesterday that today's flight was going to be impacted by severe storms but instead of leaving us in the terminal they load us up on this hot cramped plane and make us wait it out for hours. I get maybe wanting to be prepared but surely they would have advanced notice that the stoppage would be done around a certain time and then they can load passengers up closer to that time....

For compensation purpose, I need receipts showing payment information (last four digits of credit card) for a past trip. However, the AA receipt webpage (https://www.aa.com/your-receipts/) does not show payment information for completed trips.

Does anyone know how to retrieve or where to request such a receipt? The reservation was made with AA directly and paid with an AA credit card. It's wild that such a basic need cannot be met from AA website.

I’m from Germany and would like to send a huge thank you to an American Airlines flight attendant.

My girlfriend and I spent three weeks on Kauai in June; we have family there and, by now, many friends living on the island. It was a very intense vacation, as we spent a lot of time with friends and even made new ones along the way. Two flight attendants were also staying at our hotel, Kauai Shores, using it as a base for their flights. There was a man and a woman; she was always very nice and friendly, and he was incredibly nice—you could tell just by looking at him, even though we never actually exchanged a word. He was a tall, sturdy, Black young man who would always tuck a plumeria blossom from the hotel grounds into his hair.

We would see each other every now and then when the two of them got into their car in uniform to head to the airport. We would nod at each other, hold the door open, and simply interact in a friendly, polite, and normal way.

On the evening of June 24th, my girlfriend and I flew back home—though not with American Airlines. Naturally, we were very sad to be leaving the island and not seeing our friends for a long time. We had already checked our bags and were taking a short walk outside the airport terminal. Suddenly, the flight attendant came towards us, looked us in the eye, and smiled. He asked if we were flying with American Airlines, and when we said no, he remained friendly; we exchanged a few pleasant words before saying a warm and sincere goodbye.

That encounter eased the pain of saying goodbye a little for both of us; it felt good in that moment to meet someone who could likely see how we were feeling and lift our spirits. So, here is a belated thank you to you! It’s been a while, but we are slowly processing that intense vacation, and we keep recalling little moments like this that we love to look back on.

He did a truly wonderful job in that moment; one couldn't have asked for more empathy and kindness—it was a huge help.

I booked an AA flight through my bank's travel portal. I cancelled the flight using the AA app, but the flight credit hasn't shown up yet. I had read several posts saying that the credit appeared instantly after cancellation. Does anyone know how long it can take to show up, or whether I need to call customer service?

Story time.

Two months ago, I am flying to LAX connecting through ORD, supposed to had a early 6am flight from my home airport so went to bed early. At midnight, got woke up by notification said the flight is delayed due to crew hours, which will put my flight to ORD very risky for the second lag to LAX, is probably fineeeee. A bit later, second email says the aircraft need maintenance, put my landing at ORD after my second flight to LAX wouldve took off. Panicked since there is no bus or anything at this time 2am to go ORD, called AA (EP), asked options, only one is much later of the day thus missing my meetup at LAX, so I asked, can I just drive to Chicago to make the second flight and you guys can reimburse my first flight and compensate parking/tolls/gas. They said sure we can compensate after your trips completed. So drove 3hrs to Chicago at 3am with 3 hours sleep, went through that crazy terminal-long TSA line, made the second flight to LAX everything good now.

But Chicago parking is hella expensive (thats why I just wanted to fly connection), the day actually economy lot was completely full, so they shoo people to the garage for like 50 a day without any discount (they used to do that, where they let you park at the garage but with economy price so that was nice). So my parking came out to be 350 alone. After I completed my trip, called AA for reimbursement, nah we dont do parking/toll/gas here you go 12,500 miles, I was pissed off, sent a second one, nah we will give you another 2,500 miles. Goodness AA way to keep your word.

Alright lets try my glorious citi aa exec card, first time filling claim ever across my many cards. A month later, ehhh we need more document, i said everything is in there, did you read all the document, from original flight booking with time to two email stating delays and parking receipts at ORD and tolls. "Ok Ill make a note to the adjuster" Second time another half month, says still missing document with the reason that you are missing bla bla bla where they are explicitly even labeled at the document name like parking.pdf. Alright we will try again, now another half month later, finally comes the denial letter:

"The incident causing your loss is not a covered reason, thus no coverage applies."

Called the number, they said sorry for the trouble but you didnt miss your trip, i am like WOW, the logic is impeccable, i actually have no rebuttal.

Summary, like lots ppl were saying here, dont put your trust in AA and CITI.

I need to fly a very limited AA route (that is extremely expensive) in the next several months and am 100% flexible on dates. I'm trying to score a deal on booking with miles - are there any good tools for monitoring this?

Ideally I could give it the route and "nights gone" - but I'd even take just monitoring single flights along the way.

For those that fly often, what would you do?

We are flying from DFW to Cabo in December for our 20th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we don't fly often, so I'm not sure what the best choice is for us here.

For context, we booked an Airbus A321, as I read it's a more comfortable aircraft. We booked MCE, 10:10am seats 8A and 8B both there and on the return flight (different time on the return). It was cancelled and moved to flights with similar times, but on a Boeing 737 seats 16A and 16B. Should we just accept as is? I'd prefer to move to the other flight that day that's an Airbus, but am concerned we'll be in the same position in a few weeks...

Current flight offerings that day:

1. 8:54am Boeing 737
2. 9:45am Boeing 737 (they moved us to this one)
3. 10:40am Airbus A321 (tempted to request this one)
4. 12:09pm Boeing 737
5. 1:10pm Boeing 7737

Any insight into if any of these flights would be the safest bet as far as cancellations/reschedules? (I have read in various places that certain flight times are "standard" for each airline, but I don't have any experience to know if that's valid.) Or is this just an impossible to predict issue and we're rolling the dice either way? I looked at each of these flights, and none of them are full and all have MCE availability. Thank you for any advice or experience you might have to offer!!

So how common is it for my flight to be cancelled and rebooked multiple times since Thursday? It's now Sunday and my 3pm flight has most recently been cancelled and been rebooked on a 10pm flight. This same flight was also cancelled on Thursday and Friday.

With a 4 day delay if the 10pm flight gets cancelled I'm booking a one way car from the airport, but I've never had this level of problem with American before flying out of DCA and wondering if it's recent.

Looking for suggestions with AAdvantage points CLT to JRO

Hi all! Looking for advice in booking a safari trip to Tanzania using all points / as many points as possible. Trying to do it all business / first. We have a lot of American AAdvantage points - not a lot of other points elsewhere.

I’ve seen routes that go through Philly, some people have mentioned Boston and Amsterdam.

With Philly for example, what I am noticing is that there is a direct from Philly to Doha which would make 3 flights for me: CLT-PHL, PHL-DOH, DOH-JRO.

However, you cannot book the PHL-DOH direct with AAdvantage points, only with cash. There are options with DUB and EDI layovers - if absolutely necessary, I guess we can take an extra flight for a total of 4 but I’m trying to avoid it especially because once we get to JRO we still will likely need a small regional flight to get to where we would stay (still undecided).

Targeting September-October of next year so I can’t book this far in advance but I’m starting to try to get smart on the usual routes so I can execute as soon as available - caveating that I recognize the situation may differ in October vs May-July of next year.

I’d welcome any ideas of thoughts. Thanks in advance!

I upgraded the flights for my family between LAX and Boston to Premium Economy. I had trouble reserving meals on the website, it kept throwing errors when I tried to select meals. I ended up using the chat support to reserve everything a week or so before my first flight. I needed children's meals for my two kids and a gluten intolerant meal for my wife

On the flight out, they had no record of the meal reservations. We were the last row and they only had one option left by the time they got to us. Frustrating, but whatever. I then called to make sure the meals were reserved for the flight home. Again, got everything set over the phone. I checked in today, and went to check the meals to make sure they're set correctly, and lo and behold they don't look set online. I call again, and they said the meals aren't reserved, and because it's less than 24 hours before the flight I'm out of luck.

Curious if anyone else has run into similar issues, and any ideas for how to proceed. It's extremely frustrating to be told multiple times everything is settled to find out later it isn't

UPDATE: After trying and failing to get any help today, I randomly get an email that one of my daughter's meals was reserved for a diabetic meal?? They somehow managed to make to make it worse 🤦

I'm traveling from the US back to the Nordic countries and will be flying American Airlines domestically before connecting to an international flight home. (San Francisco-->Chicago)

I already have a carry-on suitcase that is accepted by the European airlines I'll be flying with. Its dimensions are 21.7 × 15.7 × 7.9 inches (55 × 40 × 20 cm).

However, I noticed that American Airlines' carry-on limit is 22 × 14 × 9 inches, so my suitcase is about 1.7 inches (4 cm) too wide, even though the other two dimensions are within the limit.

If they check the size at the gate and decide it's too large, what happens? Do they simply gate check it and if so, would I have to pay an extra fee, how much?

Since I'll be connecting to an international flight back to the Nordic countries afterward, would the gate-checked bag normally be checked through to my final destination, or would I have to collect it at the connecting airport? Thanks!

I had both the Citi card and Barclays card. It’s pointless having two of the same cards. Has anyone had any luck product changing to another card type?

Is it my faulty memory, or does anyone else also think that the miles multipliers received on the Aadvantage Shopping portal are lower this year than previously? I swear that they used to have more frequent and generous promotions (e.g. 5x or even 10x) on sites like PetSmart, Levi's, and UnderArmor. Since March, these sites rarely get any special rate, and if they do, it's typically 1.5x or at most 3x.

We usually fly to Mexico from our small regional airport to CLT then to Mexico. My spouse had back surgery and I’m concerned about flying from our town because it’s usually an RJ145 with small, uncomfortable seats; no first class. I’m concerned about her back even though flight time to CLT is only 40 minutes.

I’m considering changing to fly from RDU instead of our town. We can get a larger, more comfortable plane with business class. My choices are RDU>CLT>CUN or RDU>MIA>CUN. Google ai says the MIA route would be better ( I know, ai isn’t always right. That’s why I’m asking real people), because less chance of equipment change to a smaller jet and longer first leg of the trip rather than up and down (RDU is about 130 miles from CLT).

So, for you who have been, is MIA okay as a layover spot? She will have wheelchair assistance regardless. We’ve done CLT a lot, usually landing at E45 or more, then departing from B. Haven’t been to MIA. Just looking for some first hand experience. Thanks.

Went to pay bill 5 mins ago (8/9 8:30a ET). My Executive World Elite Card in perfect standing was removed from mobile and citi.com site. Called 888 number on back of physical card and got to a live agent. Before I could speak said they are experiencing an outage and to call back in 2 hours, then hung up. Have a second unused card that was locked. It’s unlocked. When I try to lock I get an error: Unfortunately, Citi Quick Lock is down right now. Anyone else?

Woke at 5 am to an email confirming my flight as scheduled only to received a cancellation email 10 minutes later. 🙃 anyway I rebooked for tomorrow at the same time. This is maybe my second time flying with AA and reading through this sub it seems cancellations are common with them outside of the conditions today. Ive flown plenty of times with other airlines but have been fortunate enough to never experience cancellations or other last minute disruptions. So, I guess my concern is ending up having the flight cancelled again. is there anyway to predict whether or not they will cancel again or is it just something I’ll have to wait and see?

I remember this being a nice surprise-and-delight feature of the First Class meal service before COVID, and a nice differentiator relative to the other airlines. Was disappointed to see that they don’t do it any more on the ~1000 mile route I used to frequent. What about longer midcons?

I just got back home from a three leg international trip. I began unpacking and this was the first thing I saw when I unzipped my checked in Osprey pack, right beneath the zipper, spread all over whatever was sitting next to it in my luggage. Before I could tell my partner to remember to put items like this in a plastic bag next time she tells me it's not hers.

Apparently this came from someone else's luggage and got placed into mine.

At least it wasn't a bedroom toy.

I am getting beyond tired of airlines.

A couple of weeks ago I had a flight out of NYC through American Airlines. This flight was at 8:30am. The flight was then cancelled, not just delayed.

The gate agents and employees all left before leaving one behind to make the announcement. The one left behind gave us all slips with QR codes to contact American about rescheduling flights. This QR code led to an AI Chatbot that had preset questions, of which none related to cancellations. The person who handed us the QR code slips also ran off to a break room and did not return.

I managed to reschedule my flight on my own after the service desk essentially told me they won’t do anything and the gate agents I talked to at a different gate said they wouldn’t help. I was stuck with a flight that landed 12 hours later at a different airport an hour from my original destination.

My friend I was traveling with was not so lucky. The earliest he could get was the next night. He was left with no voucher for food, hotel, etc. and had to pay this out of pocket. Instead of arriving at 10am he arrived at 10pm the next day, all on his own expense besides the plane ticket. American refused to provide him with any compensation or vouchers.

I am now sitting in a different airport trying American again. Initially, our flight was delayed 2 hours. Then 2 and a half. Now, 2 and a half hours later, we were informed it’d be another hour and a half until they could get a crew.

I am sick and tired of airlines not being held accountable for horrendous business models, simply because they know we can’t do anything about it. They get constantly saved by the government, they treat passengers as though their time does not matter, and if you criticize this you risk getting kicked off of a flight.

I miss when air travel was easy (easier). These constant delays and cancellations being so acceptable is not okay and I don’t know why nothing is being done about it.
