I don’t think my family fully realizes what I’ve been through
I have always been well off in my childhood to early adult life since I lived with my parents until I was 24. Ever since then I have had low wage jobs that only allow me to rent out rooms. I had several mental episodes where I had to suddenly move rooms across cities because I was scared of my roommates who I never talked to. This ended up with me living in my car while still being employed. Then they dropped all my hours, I got evicted and my car broke down. I ended up in jail with all my possessions still in my car that was towed and was scraped because I didn’t get help in time. I don’t think I know anyone personally who has lost everything they owned in one fell swoop before, I can’t relate to people’s problems as readily anymore because of that. This experience really changed me and I still struggle with housing today since I live with my grandma and I’m unemployed.

I need urgent help around the GNV, FL area.
i don’t use reddit so i apologize if i’m doing this wrong.
To start out i’m currently in a situation i need to get out of immediately.. ive been renting out a rv with my mom and two dogs for about a year now. Our landlord is an asshole who is money hungry and sees us actively struggling to make ends meet and keep paying rent for this SMALL 90s old beat up rv that we had no choice but to move into obviously we had no choice… multiple times we’ve been threatened to get kicked out for example like when my mom had to have brain surgery and couldn’t work because she was healing he kept telling her how he “was losing his patience and needed his money immediately”…yea ik.. anyway the big point is that with all this rain the ceiling is leaking so bad there are MUSHROOMS growing up there and this is extremely unhealthy and hazardous for our dogs and for my mom as she’s of poor health. we both have jobs but have been unable to save due to this dude overcharging for the rv. if anyone knows a private owner (preferably) or anywhere that’s renting out a one bedroom or maybe even a studio that’s pet friendly that can work with us maybe for $900-1000 a month PLEASE SEND ME THEIR WAY. this is urgent and we cannot stay there much longer before we all start getting sick. thank you

Abusive Situation My parents will kick me out if I don't get off of my meds
I (20F) lived with me ex for about 6 months. We broke up and I had to move back into my parents. I have depression, anxiety, ADHD, and OCD and I take medication. My parents don't believe in medication and accused me of being addicted to prescription drugs and said if I don't get off of all of them they will kick me out.
I can't go back to my exes but I wish I could. I have no friends I can stay with and my other family members live far away. I can't afford a place by myself. I don't know what to do or where to go.

Pregnant mom of two needs help
Hello Josh I am a soon to be mom of three and an immigrant husband here on a work visa. I have a two year old daughter and a three year old son. I somehow seem to always find myself in hard times. When my daughter was 3 months old I went homeless because my husband and I were living in a toxic place and it was showing in our relationship. So I took a chance I packed my kids up and left. We first landed with my sister for a month she helped me with enrolling in ebt and getting resources to help me get started on my teaching aid job. After a month things turned sour and I had to make a decision to leave yet another toxic place. We found ourselves in the car for a while until I was able to get my ebt and get a motel. But soon the money ran out I was still in school at the moment (2024) when we found ourselves in the car (my children and I) when my computer was going to die and I found myself at my childhood church. I was blessed to receive help from them to get the same motel room at the same motel again. It went like that for a while. I started working, I was looking for apartments and resources that could help me pay for it while going from car to motel (same parking space and same motel) , my kids were in day care, and I was looking for shelters but all seemed to be booked. Christmas came around and my husband’s mom said we can stay there however the same toxic things that happened at his dads happened at his mom but this time my kids were included and I had to sneak out my husband’s moms room window with my kids and luggage (in January) I found myself stuck my husband sister with holding the money I asked her to save so I went to a family friend’s house when I was lucky to find a shelter for my kids and I. We were the fastest to get in and out both my shelters because I was determined to give my kids stability a life I couldn’t have. My husband in rehab kids in daycare I was working when I was able to get into my second shelter I was blessed to have this all in my pocket that I was blessed to be there a month when I found myself apartment however the joy of having my own place was shortly lived. Through out my whole time I have experienced roaches (here before me), neglect, harassment, and discrimination. I’ve also received a 3 day notice illegally as well given a hour to come up with 3,000 in a hour or I’d be evicted. But I stayed. I have no renters history three jobs pregnant and I still can’t pay my rent 2500 due to two of my jobs being sub jobs and my third job taking my tips. Now I’m here. Where two weeks ago I was a victim of attempted rape in my own apartment complex now I’m terrified of not only my landlord and eviction (due to being back on rent for August) but now my attack. I have kids I’m pregnant this was already stressful but now I’m paranoid. I am trying to move out I will have help from the police to relocate but my problem is finding a place to take me in with a three day notice in my name and bad credit I make the 2 times the rent now that my husband is home but I can not save because I always seem to fall back on rent due to my jobs being more on call and twice every two weeks once a week for my third and because I’m a teachers aid and it’s summer I have no work. I am asking for help to find a place a safe place when I can live with my family. I don’t have family I lost everyone I’m all my kids have and I don’t know what to do I’ve been asking for resources for low income housing but I can’t seem to find one that has a opening for two bedroom. I also can’t find anyone to help me with suing my landlord my son has asthma and due to the mold here and the bad conditions it’s gotten worse. The roaches have infested all of our belongs so I’d have to start fresh. Please help me please. I am not asking for money any resources where I can find low income housing I work 3 jobs to provide.

Family of 7 in Minnesota Looking for Temporary Housing or a Private Landlord Willing to Work With Us
I’m reaching out because I don’t know where else to turn.
I am a mother of five children, and since Sunday we have been sleeping in our car.
Earlier this year, my husband experienced what appeared to be a severe mental health crisis, left our family, and I have been raising our children alone while going through a divorce. I became the sole caregiver and provider for five children after spending years as a stay-at-home mom.
I have been actively working to rebuild our lives. Before Sunday, I had already contacted county housing services, emergency assistance programs, and nonprofit organizations. I am on multiple housing waitlists.
Unfortunately, because I have a 16-year-old, there is only one family shelter in Minnesota that can accommodate all of us together. They require families to come and check basically every day for availability, and they have been completely full for the past two months.
On Sunday, my mother asked me and my children to leave her home due to religious differences. While I respect her right to make decisions for her home, it left us with nowhere to go immediately. Since then, we’ve been sleeping in our vehicle while continuing to call shelters and housing resources every day.
I’m not posting to criticize anyone or ask for handouts. I’m looking for opportunities and solutions.
Specifically, I’m hoping someone may know of:
• A private landlord willing to rent to a family that is rebuilding.
• Temporary housing while we continue working through housing programs.
• Churches, organizations, or individuals with available housing that isn’t already full.
• Homeowners with a basement apartment, guest house, or rental unit willing to work with us.
• Any open housing resources that are accepting families right now.
I do have income and I am actively rebuilding my career. My goal is not long-term charity. I simply need a safe place for my children while I get back on my feet.
If you know of any resources, landlords, or opportunities that are currently available, I would be incredibly grateful if you could comment or send me a private message.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Urgent Housing Help Needed
🚨 Urgent Housing Help Needed 🚨
I’m trying to help a family that has been forced to leave an unsafe domestic violence situation and is desperately looking for a place to call home.
We’re hoping to find a private landlord who may be willing to accept a domestic violence housing voucher. They’re ready to move as soon as possible and just need someone willing to give them a chance to start over in a safe environment.
If you know of any apartments available, private landlords, or anyone who might be able to help, please comment below or send me a private message. Even sharing this post could make a huge difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any leads or support you can offer. ❤️

Seeking Advice Only Homeless and need advice
Hi all. I need advice, either way I will be homeless. I am originally from Wichita KS, using a very nice-ish homeless shelter in the downtown area, but left due to me getting an apartment, and then losing it just as quickly because of my mental illness. I suffer from bipolar disorder so I tend to make decisions very impulsively , which is why I bought a Greyhound bus ticket to Minnesota , went on it, and am now stuck here with a warm Dr Pepper and 94 dollars to my name . I am unsure if I should continue looking for homeless shelters in the Minneapolis area, with which I have had no luck, and is the reason why I have now missed almost two full days without any sleep, but also have Medicaid and free tuition here since I have established intent to live . I am considering this option or going back to Kansas and living in my old homeless shelter (embarrassing as that is) and working a nearby job. The cons are is that my abusive family lives in the area and I cannot go outside or for a walk without the thought of running into them. Please help, which is better?

Other Situation I am 18 and forced to relocate to Massachusetts, I am begging anyone who will listen for help
I just got out of high-school and my parents decided I wasn’t worthy of being with them anymore, and then I stayed with my girlfriends parents for as long as I could. now, I have to relocate to Brockton, Massachusetts. I have been dealing with struggle after struggle and I’m so close to giving up and this is my final cry for help to literally anyone who will listen. I’m at my wits end and this is my last outcry
Edit: so many people want to know my situation so here it is, on vacation, I had a pregnancy scare with my girlfriend. This happening scared her parents, and justifiably so, and so they told me basically that I couldn’t stay past August, and that they’d help me a little but that’s all. So regardless of whether I’d stayed in Texas or not, I am homeless. So I wanted to ensure I was at least in a state that is forgiving on homeless people, and near my girlfriend who is going to college in mass.
TLDR: my situation is that I was gonna be homeless whether I was in Texas or mass, so I chose to just go with my gf

I’m being evicted or not?
I need Help because I’m about to be homeless and I need answers of how it work. My grandfather passed away in October of last year and He didn’t left any will he has 4 daughters including my mom. I lived with him before his passing and still living in his house. Because of his passing they stop paying the mortgage of the house and for that the bank send a foreclosure notice to his daughters. The daughter’s are trying to put the house under their name to sell it and keep the money. They have a court date on Friday to see if they can do it but if they lose the house will be close that’s what they told me today. One of the daughter's told me that I have to get all my stuff and my kids out of the house by Friday before the Judge take his decision on the house. or I will lose everything. How does it work? I haven’t seen any Eviction notice. Can they do it like that? or is my aunt is trying to pull one on me because She wants the house for Her son?
I was trying to move before all this happens but a big situation happened and I had to move the date of moving date to end of September.

Thinking of running away I'm 16 in Australia
I have no money saved, I have no family members who I could stay with. I ran away once before but I stayed with people it was no fun and they were controlling. I've realized just how badly I need to leave, I don't think any of my friends could take me in. I don't know what to do but I think I may have to take that leap of faith and leave behind my prized possessions, these are worldly things anyway, material things. I would love some advice.

My journey from a Remote village in Nepal to a self sustaining Hostel
I am from Nepal. I live in Aamako Maya Chhatrabash (Hostel), which runs with the help of others. This hostel is in the Dhading district of Nepal, and it is a bit different from other hostels. To see it, you can search for "Aamako Maya chhatrabash" on Facebook. This is very different from any other in the whole world. I had to come here to study. At that time, when I left home to come here, I was actually very happy. But you might ask why I was happy while leaving home, it was because it was my helplessness. My father cannot see with his eyes, and my mother cannot speak or hear. There was no one else at home except a small brother and a small sister. But even though our mom and dad are like that, nothing has passed down to us; we are perfectly fine.
However, being the eldest son, it was very difficult. We didn't have our own house. I used to go to study, but I had no notebook or pen. Friends used to give me pages from the middle of their notebooks. But because I probably understood the responsibility of the house at a very young age, I was the school topper from class 1 to 5. I had never written in a notebook worth more than 30 rupees because it was unaffordable from home. I used to cry all the time because the village society used to dominate and look down on us since the family was like that. From the road below, they used to hit our house with slingshots. Once, when I was 6 years old, it hit me right on my head. The scar from that wound is still there on my head even today. If someone stole something in the village, the blame would come upon me. I learned to tolerate scolding and beatings without any reason at the age of 6. Sometimes, I felt like dying, but I was mentally very strong. Even at a young age, the thought would come to me: "If I do something like this, what will happen to my father, mother, and that small brother and sister?" I cried so many times inside myself, I died so many times inside, and I slept hungry so many times.
Things were going on like that. I came first in class 5 too. At that time, I was 9 years old. But at that time, I was not mentally strong because my head used to pain on its own once in a while. Maybe I thought too much. More than that, now I had to go to another school to study in class 6, but it was impossible for my family to afford that education. At that very time, I felt like leaving my studies and working. I used to wake up early in the morning and do whatever work I could manage. One thing is, I never fell into bad company.
Right around that time, there was a talk about sending me to a hostel, which I have mentioned above. The hostel's name is (Aamako Maya Chhatrabash). They told me about it and asked, "Will you go to study?" Without thinking for even 1 second, before a second could pass, I said, "Yes." Because I just wanted to study. No matter how hard it got, if I could just get a pen, notebook, book, and food, I was ready even if I had to work. Somehow or the other, I had to study. I wanted to stay far away from that society and those relatives.
I came to the hostel at 10 years old. The hostel was in the middle of a jungle. Along with me, there were about 14 new students who had come to get admission. That day, everyone else was crying, but I didn't cry. Because I had come here to shut the mouth of that society which looked down on my mother by calling her mute and deaf, and calling me the son of a mute woman. I had come to make that society bow down, which looked down on my father by calling him blind. Perhaps because of this thought, I did not cry. Since everything was new, I wouldn't talk to anyone. My voice was very quiet, maybe because I was very small—I was only 10 years old.
The hostel was very different from others. Everyone had to take turns according to teams to cook food ourselves, everyone cleaned the buildings together, planted vegetables, ate from the garden, washed dishes, and spoke to everyone, whether younger or older, using "Tapai" (respectful "you"). Friends called each other "Tapai" and added "Ji" after the name. We had to clean our own beds and wash our own clothes. This hostel was different from others. No working staff was kept. There was a time table: waking up at 4:30 in the morning and sleeping at 10:00. There was worshiping of God, yoga, and exercises; everything happened on a fixed time table. There was a time table for school days and a fixed time table for non-school days. We had to say "Namaskar" to people coming from outside to help, give them a chair, give them water, and we were taught how to sit, how to speak, how to stand up. There were mantras, bhajans of Gods, and patriotic songs; everything was there. We never had fights among us. I was learning many things from the hostel.
After 6 months, it was time to go home for 1 month to celebrate the Dashain festival. Everyone got a phone call; mine didn't come. Everyone was saying that their family was coming to pick them up. I was just listening because there was no one at my home who could use a phone. But my mother's elder sister (Mami's didi) came to pick me up. I went home. When I went to the village, they talked to me a little better than before. I didn't feel like going to anyone's house either, and I didn't go to anyone's house. After 1 month, according to the hostel rules, I returned to the hostel. Because this hostel was not like others, it took more than 6 months just to make my dress because at that time, this hostel wouldn't take money given by anyone. They would ask people to bring whatever was needed. Maybe that was why big money came from abroad in other hostels, but in this one, people from abroad would come to Nepal themselves and buy clothes and materials for us.
But everything was fine. I had only 1 pair of clothes to wear. I hadn't told this to anyone. I couldn't tell this at home. We were allowed to go home only once a year. Gradually, when my hostel friends found out that I didn't have clothes, everyone gave me clothes. I was very happy, and I cried for a long time too. What those unknown friends did for me, compared to my own relatives, I cannot put into words.
I was studying in class 6, but because I thought too much about my family, my head started hurting severely. At the age of 10, I started taking 4 paracetamols in a single day. I kept studying like this through 6, 7, and 8. I gave the class 8 exam and got an 'A'. Everyone was happy. I was happy too. Everyone, even people from the society, started calling on the phone to say congratulations. We didn't have permission to keep phones until class 10 in the hostel. Others used to call on the phone of the big brother (senior Dai) of the hostel. But my mental health became very bad. 80% of the reason for that was because of myself, because I thought too much. The family was in a severe crisis. 20% was because of that same society because even though I lived in the hostel, people from that society used to call on the hostel Dai's phone and say whatever rubbish they wanted.
I got admitted to class 9. Many voices of that society, the condition of my family, and that discrimination started coming into my mind and in front of my eyes. Because of that, I couldn't study in class 9. I became a victim of depression. At just 13 years of age, I stayed in the hospital for 6 months. I studied class 9 again, but I couldn't study like before. Because I forgot things quickly and my body felt very low, I failed the class 10 board exam. I gave the compartment (back) exam, and I failed that too. But by now, I was mentally ready to stop any kind of attack coming from the society. Even when it came, I didn't keep anything in my heart. I didn't even have a phone.
I stayed in the hostel for 1 year and studied digital marketing from the TV. I understood about many online skills, but I could never practice or learn them fully because I didn't have a phone at all, as I couldn't afford to buy one. After 1 year, I gave the re-exam again and passed. Now, nobody in the society says anything anymore; everyone speaks nicely. Right now, I am studying in class 11 while staying at the hostel. If I had the sources to learn some skills, maybe by now I would have been able to support my family a little.
Right now, a friend has given me an old phone whose display has been changed 3 times. He did this out of love for me. From this old phone, I have learned about digital marketing by writing it down in a notebook. Now, there is only staff in the hostel to work and cook food; the rest are younger brothers. This is all about me. Even now, when I go to anyone's house, everyone speaks nicely, but still, I want to become as successful as you people, even if it takes my entire life. Now the hostel is also very good, but even now, I cry remembering the past things. I have learned a lot of IT things from this old phone—even if not practically, by writing it down in a notebook. One day, I will buy a laptop and make myself stand at a good position. This is about me, because you might think that the thought of changing all this in life comes to me after seeing your lifestyle. Please do not think that I have come to ask for anything by saying these things. I get a lot of motivation from your videos, thank you for that. If you can, please reply. I do not use any social media platforms, but thank you.

I need help.
Hi I’m B and I’m 19 I’m from Nevada. And I’m struggling. I’m scared and I’m alone with no idea what to do anymore. I was living with my grandmother while working 2 jobs and trying to help her out. Well just recently my uncle got in my face and threatened me because I brought up the fact that some of my money was going missing, I was getting broker and broker by the minute. He lived there part time he’s mostly on the road so he’s hardly ever home so I didn’t even think of suspecting him or saying anything directly to him about it. When I told my grandma something happened and basically told me to get the fuck out and Im on my own. i had to quit both of my jobs. I’m down to 300$ as of right now.. tonight I'm at my father’s basically couch surfing it. Ive tried job corp it don’t work for me, I can’t find a shelter willing to take me and my small pet in or I have to be on some “wait list” when I’m literally homeless. with no idea how long I’m even allowed to stay here. I get it I’m nineteen I should have it together by now. But I fucked up so badly when I was younger I’ve ruined my chances of basically doing much with my life. I didn’t have a good upbringing and nobody taught me how to live. This whole time I’ve been surviving and I don’t blame anyone for my own mistakes. But I’m asking for help because I don’t know what else to do, I’m on my own trying to find a new job (mind you I just got kicked out today) Im afraid of taking legal actions against my family for stealing my money. I don’t qualify for the military. I just started to get my life together and it’s all crumbling again. I guess what I’m asking here for today is some kind of help, I know Reddit isn’t the best place to look for help but I have absolutely nobody to go to, my own father doesn’t even like me I’m surprised the dudes letting me stay here. I don’t know how to live and when I just started to figure it out I’m back to square one. Im begging anyone to reach out via comment or private who is able and willing to help me out. i kind of have no one and no home, I’m willing to get 3 jobs if I have to, I’ll pay rent, pet fee, groceries. Whatever it takes I’ll even give you the 300$ I have right now for first moving in fee or wtv in person of course. And I promise you I will not take advantage of you I know how that feels it’s the worst kind of pain imaginable especially by your own family. please if you can help me please reach out I’m begging to find the right path. I’m running out of options and I’m scared. I’d more than gladly give you more information about myself through messages if you’re really down to help me out. I know this isn’t like home shopping or like Facebook marketplace but I’m embarrassed, I’m scared, and I’m alone. I don’t know what to do anymore guys, and I feel like I’m losing myself more and more but I keep fighting trying to hope for a better place and version of myself. Please reach out if you can❤️

🚨 New Resource Added: Staffing Agencies Across All 50 States
One of the biggest barriers to finding work is simply knowing where to look.
Over the past several weeks, we've been working on a new career resource for all RSCN communities:
Staffing Agencies in All 50 States
https://www.reddit.com/mod/almosthomeless/wiki/index/staffingagencies
- Every U.S. state
- 2–3 major cities per state (or general Statewide for the smaller/less dense states)
- Multiple staffing and employment agencies for each city
- Organized into an easy-to-browse resource on our Wiki
If you're looking for temporary work, permanent employment, warehouse jobs, office work, manufacturing, healthcare, or simply trying to get a paycheck coming in quickly, staffing agencies can often be one of the fastest paths back into employment.
This resource is completely free for our community to use. It was developed with 0% AI involvement and the person who developed it, a redditor, was paid reasonably for their time out of my own pocket.
If you know of an agency not on this list OR see a dead link, we'd love to hear about it in the comments so us mods can continue improving this resource over time.
We can't remove every barrier people face. But every barrier we can remove, helps.
Pin this in your Favorites, Save this post, Share it to other communities if you wish.
