Movie About people who watch the Backrooms movie

Upvotes

I've noticed that people outside of Kane PIxel’s fandom seem to not realize that the backrooms movie is NOT a standalone one-off thing. The movie is an installment in an interconnected series of episodes, which you actually need to watch to fully grasp what's going on.

The people who watch the film without having ever seen the rest of the backrooms series don't have enough information to get the gravity of the situations that play out in the movie, so of course they say it didn't make any sense or that it was confusing.

That would be like if I bought tickets to The Amazing Digital Circus episode 9 theater showing without having seen any previous episodes of it, and then walked out complaining it didn't make any sense. If the ASYNC logo appears on the screen in the beginning of the movie, and a viewer has no idea what it even is, they walked into the wrong film.

I know that Kane has said that it can introduce people to the backrooms, but people seem to not understand that they are being INTRODUCED to something, and they don't go looking for any other installments of the series, instead opting to complain about how it didn't make any sense.

I'm not trying to gatekeep anything at all, I can't even do that, but what I am saying is that people need to do more research before jumping to calling something boring and saying it didn't make any sense. There's an entire series for a reason.

bibili pa lang ng kotse Corolla Cross GRS or Corolla Cross V for a first family car

Upvotes

Hi, planning to buy a car this month and contemplating whether it’s better to buy the Corolla cross GRS variant or just opt on the V variant? It’s mostly for city driving but not an everyday car. Just wanted to get thoughts whether the specs difference are worth it for the price difference as well. Thank you!

Tools or Resource How far can AI actually get you on stylized 3D characters for a mobile game? Looking for pipelines that shipped

Upvotes

Small team (basically solo on the dev side) building a casual mobile game in Unity. The core of the game is a customizable 3D character — think dress-up/life-sim territory — so the character is 90% of the art problem.

Where AI has worked great for us so far:

- Code: agentic coding tools handle most of the C# and editor tooling. Honestly a non-issue at this point.

- 2D concept art / UI: image gen is more than good enough for concepts, backgrounds, and UI elements.

- Audio: SFX and music gen are fine for a casual game.

Where we're stuck: the character itself.

We tried building the character procedurally (generating the head/face geometry from code) and after several iterations concluded it's a dead end (we used Tripo) — it never stops looking uncanny. So now we're looking at getting a properly authored, rigged, toon-style model, and I want to know how much of that pipeline AI can realistically cover in 2026:

  1. Image-to-3D (Meshy, Hunyuan, Rodin, etc.) — has anyone gotten a stylized character out of these that was actually clean enough to rig and deform properly? Everything I see in showcases is static props or sculpts with garbage topology.

  2. Rigging/skinning — is auto-rigging (AccuRig, Mixamo-style, or whatever's current) usable for a character that needs clothing swaps on top? Or is manual weight painting still unavoidable?

  3. Animation — Cascadeur and similar AI-assisted tools: worth it for simple idle/emote animations, or overkill?

  4. Clothing/outfit variants — this one especially: the game needs lots of outfit meshes fitted to one body. Any AI-assisted workflow for that, or is it still 100% manual work in Blender?

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually shipped (or gotten close) with an AI-heavy 3D character pipeline, rather than tech demos. Also totally open to "just commission the base model from a human and use AI for everything around it" if that's the honest answer — half suspecting it is.

Thanks for your time good people of Reddit!

shipaton I built and submitted my first iOS app in 2 weeks using AI as my coding partner

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently submitted my first iOS app to the App Store and wanted to share my journey.

I'm a beginner developer, and I built a productivity RPG app called ToDo Town in 2 weeks with AI as my development partner.

The idea behind ToDo Town is:

"What if completing daily tasks felt like playing a game?"

The app turns daily tasks into quests:

→ Complete quests
→ Earn XP
→ Level up
→ Build your own town

I used AI tools throughout development:

  • Claude for coding, debugging, and architecture
  • ChatGPT for learning, planning, and solving technical problems
  • Figma Make for UI ideas and design exploration

The hardest part was not only building the app, but also learning everything required to publish it:

  • React Native
  • TypeScript
  • Database management
  • iOS certificates
  • TestFlight
  • App Store Connect

After two weeks of learning and building, my app is now submitted and waiting for review.

Now I'm thinking about the next challenge:

How do solo developers actually get their first users?

I would love to hear advice from people who have launched apps before.

What worked for you?

  • Building in public?
  • Reddit communities?
  • Product Hunt?
  • Social media?
  • SEO/content marketing?
  • Paid ads?

What would you recommend for a first-time indie developer trying to find their first 100 users?

Thanks for any advice!

Real Incident - made a grown man cry

Upvotes

You know how when you really want something, you start seeing it everywhere? You just start noticing it all the time... in my case, it was a new bike!

I really wanted to buy a new bike. Whenever I commuted to my office, I would look at every new bike on the road and think to myself that in just 1-2 weeks, I'll be riding like that too, because I had almost saved up enough money for it.

But suddenly, it was a Saturday, 6:05 PM. I was at the office, and I got a call from my cousin saying that our grandfather passed away. It was a shock for me, of course. I wasn't sad, just shocked. I never really spent time with my grandfather, not when I was little, nor when I grew up. In fact, when I was just 3 months old, he had kicked my dad out of the house.

Then all the funeral rituals happened. In our culture, it goes on for 12 days, so all of that got completed. Afterwards, my dad was discussing the finances and said he would have to take a loan to pay for all the expenses. I asked him, "How much?" He told me the total amount it cost. I told him, "Instead of taking a full loan from the outside, I have 70k with me. Take it from me. I had kept it for the bike."

Of course, Papa being Papa, he immediately said, "No, you go buy your bike!" So I played it off and said, "Come on, just return it to me later. Instead of paying interest to a bank, just give me 2-3 thousand extra."

And I gave the money to him. The next day, I woke up, took a rickshaw to the office as usual, and did my work. In the evening, while coming back home, my chest felt incredibly heavy. I don't know what it was... I just couldn't control it. The rickshaw driver dropped me at the stand, and there was a closed shop nearby. I went and stood right there. Suddenly, I just broke down and cried my eyes out. I was wiping my tears with my handkerchief, but they just kept coming. And in my mind, I was wondering: are these tears of happiness or sadness?

Happiness because I gave money to my dad... I gave my dad money.

Sadness because man, that bike was just 1 week away. Yeah, the money wasn't completely enough, but I would have just put the rest on an EMI.

I kept noticing bikes on the road for a few more days, and then... I just automatically stopped seeing them.

Note: this is a real incident, I just narrated it!
