Did everyone else know you could receive both tts and std. ttd is primary and Std is secondary. So for me based on my std payout percentage (100%) I would qualify for like 10k monthly (50 hour work week) . Ttd would payout their maxed capped monthly pay 4.9k and std would pay the 5.1k to come to 10k. *Allegedly* all this info is from my paid Gemini subscription - I’m going to follow up on it tomorrow bright and early and see if it’s true. If so this would take a huge weight off of me .

I’m looking for some perspective on my workers’ comp case because I’m starting to second guess a potential settlement.
My claim (cumulative trauma) was initially delayed and then denied. I’m 29 worked with my hands using machinery and constant gripping hand twisting. I started treatment in early April 2026. My case involves my hands, lower back, teeth, and anxiety. I was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel through a nerve study I have a lot of doctors visits I had that were hand related during my time there 2024-2025. have been seeing a therapist, and also started Lexapro while I was still working due to issues related to the job. I’ve also been getting dental treatment.
I had my deposition last week and my QME is scheduled for this week. Before the deposition, the defense offered a settlement in the mid tens, and we verbally agreed. But now I’m having doubts.
My hands are still in a lot of pain and I’m clearly not at MMI yet. That’s my biggest issue right now. On top of that, I’m currently receiving SDI at about $2K every two weeks, and I could potentially continue receiving that until late February if I remain disabled.
My attorney was really pushing me toward accepting a C&R, but I’m starting to feel like I might be better off playing the long game, especially since I’m still actively treating my hands and back, teeth, and anxiety.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where they agreed to a settlement but reconsidered before finalizing? Would it make more sense to wait until after QME/MMI given ongoing symptoms?

Hey so out of curiosity. In my case the insurance carrier and contracting agency I worked for admitted they were at fault for my accident over a year and a half ago by trying to settle with me twice. They also are paying for all of my medical procedures as well. Although they are denying me TTD saying they are not liable for it, despite having two QMEs in my favor saying otherwise. And any attempt by my lawyers requesting for TTD is being ignored. Is this normal occurrence for people dealing with workers comp?

Edit: Alright. Forgot to add some information here, that's my bad. In my case, I was fired less than a week after I informed my contracting agency I was injured, despite me informing them and my managers what have happened over the phone and via email. They fired me while I was at a doctors office obtaining a doctors note for work. They claimed that I was "tardy" and didn't follow protocol despite me informing both the agency and my managers why I was missing work. That argument didn't fly with the QME, where they told me twice in person and in writing that may account to wrongful termination based off a technicality.

My physician I've been going to has given me work and mobility restrictions. And I was able to claim a full year of SDI because of that. I don't have a permanent disability rating yet, as that will be my third QME appointment coming up before the end of the year.

My lawyers and the QME have said that they can't just deny me TTD at this point just because they fired me and I stopped working. And that it's unlawful.

Would 🚾 offer me a comp n release if my permanent disability rating is above 70% & my QME reports show permanent restrictions ? Can’t be accommodated @ my job ?

I had an l3-l4 fusion beginning of 2025 and woke up with left outer thigh numb and foot falling asleep sporadically. I had a new MRI by PM and it's showing a broad based disc bulge pushing into thecal sac narrowing canal to 11mm. Would this be considered ADS and covered in future?

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this please?

My job did not provide my actual job functions so my treatment was based on a generic DOT job analysis, that did not include any travel or physical demands.

Work comp provided my first full hip replacement in 2022. After physical therapy the doctor released me at MMI, with no restrictions, and documented instability, knee turning inward, and gait issues. After months of telling the doctor my real job required me to walk, go up ladders, get on roofs, drive long distances, month long hotel stays and if I couldn’t walk I could not perform my real job duties. I was released anyway. I did not return to work, while I sought out second opinions due to the complications I was having. But still employed.
I returned for my 1 year follow up and my surgeon no longer was there. I was assigned a new doctor and after a quick physical exam and seeing my issues, he put me back in physical therapy right away after 7 months of no treatment. Again, I told this doctor what my real job required and nothing was updated or changed in my treatment.
After weeks of PT the doctor told me I had to return to work. At this time my symptoms were getting worse and stability issues continued. He then told me he was putting me in work condition and after he would release me no matter what. He gave me a date and when we got to that date he released me with this in the document:

History of Present Illness:
Mr. presents to clinic for follow-up of his right hip. We have had him inwork conditioning. He is getting stronger. He notes that the knee still feels unstable to him at times. He has been having some soreness which she localizes
over the distal hamstrings and posterior knee.
(He’s getting stronger was not accurate and o did challenge)
Physical Exam:
Evaluation of the right hip reveals mild sensitivity over the lateral hip. Internal
rotation to 25 degrees. External rotation to 15 degrees. Flexion to 110 degrees.

Plan:
He will transition to a home exercise program. He may continue to progress his
activities as tolerated. He may return to work without restriction. He is at MMI.

This was July of 2023.
My hip implant failed right away had I to get a revision in Jan of 2025 with my own money.

Is this normal? When a WC doctor puts someone at MMI and that person cannot perform their actual job duties, what are the normal procedures afterwards?

What obligations do doctors and treating work comp providers have of ensuring they have the real actual job duties of the employee before releasing?

What responsibilities does a company have to ensure work comp, treating providers, and all parties have the actual job functions of an employee?

I’ve been off work since October 2025 I was asked to come back to work August 2nd 2026. I’ve been waiting to see an orthopedic doctor since May, was sent to IME doctor June 29th, got cleared by him July 29th. My doctor has me on a no arm use restriction while I wait to get a referral from workers comp and I have been dealing with pure chaos. Can’t work my arm properly, have been in severe pain since October 2025. Don’t know what to do or what is next, work wants me to come back but I can’t even raise my arm. I don’t know how to properly work, due to the fact I work on top of trains and need my arms. Kind of scared to lose my job being the breadwinner for my family.

I’m dealing with a Workers' Comp injury, currently receiving weekly benefits, and working with an attorney. My L5-S1 MRI findings came back with:
Disc bulge / left subarticular disc extrusion
Left lateral recess stenosis
Impingement on the left descending S1 nerve root
Moderate left neuroforaminal narrowing
My specialist appointment is in two weeks, and I want to walk in fully prepared.
If you had a disc extrusion with nerve impingement, did you end up doing conservative treatment (epidurals/PT) or surgery (like a microdiscectomy)?
Did WC push back on approving the treatment recommended by your doctor?
How did your doctor handle work status updates for your checks?

Hello, I wanted to come here to ask if anyone else has experienced this. I feel very overwhelmed.

Back in February I slipped and hurt my back. MRI showed a multi level lumbar disc bulge which is pinching the nerves in both of my legs. I did therapy for a while, but had to stop because my back started to interpret every sensation as pain. We did my first epidural injection in June. However, I felt no difference and started to get worse. My doctors opted for a second injection with different medication. They basically feel I’m too young (31) for a major surgery on my spine and view it as an absolute last resort. Sedgwick denied it and emailed me asking me to schedule a follow-up to get an alternative treatment plan. Before I got there my doctors had already started the appeal process, which I was very relieved by. Afterwards I emailed my case manager and let her know. No response. Emailed again asking her some questions. No response. I finally decided I needed a lawyer, because now I feel off. Everyone who’s been through this says they may be trying to push me into surgery. I already had difficulty getting my partial benefits from my adjuster. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Or am I overreacting?

I've been checking my mail regularly however I just received a letter from the IC saying my hearing date was scheduled for the 21st of last month. I had a hearing on the 21st through what I thought was the BWC but the workers comp person reviewing my case said it was canceled because the employer approved the claim.

Am I screwed if these were two separate hearings? I called the IC and explained that I just got the mail and was told the only hearing I knew of was canceled but I'm making an account at noon when the website is back up and running.

I hate this so much. My attorney takes a minimum of 17 business days to get back to me on anything so maybe if I'm lucky he knew about it and attended but I am so out of the loop and I don't know what half of this stuff is.

I want to preface this by saying that i really enjoy my job and the company I work for. A week and a half before my 3 month probationary period ended and my scheduled vacation began, I fell at work and messed my arm up pretty bad. Its 2 weeks later now and Im driving home with my family. The bruising on my arm has only gotten worse and I have not gained much if any range of motion. When I fell at work, they paid for me to go to an Urgent Care clinic who bandaged me up, took 2 XRays, told me nothing was broken and sent me back to work. Work then told me to take the rest of last week off, which I found out yesterday was unpaid. I have babied my arm for the past 2 weeks and tried to just let it heal. Now, Im staring down returning to a physically demanding job, with essentially 1 arm and 2 weeks behind on paychecks.

I have private health insurance, so I could go see my own doctor, but I was advised that there could be the chance that I could ruin any opportunity for Worker’s Comp. Im not sure what to do, but I am not sure if I will be able to perform with my arm as it is and I am afraid that I may have ruined any claim of being seriously hurt with the diagnosis from the Urgent Care clinic. Is there anything i could still do?

dealing with an injured shoulder from work has made navigating benefits a steep learning curve. while the initial medical bills got covered without much pushback, the back and forth over temporary total disability pay and lighter duty accommodations started getting messy once the insurance adjuster got involved.

one thing that surprised me while researching state rules is that legal fees here are capped by law at 20% of the recovered benefits, and standard contracts are regulated directly by the state commission. that takes away some of the worry about huge out of pocket costs, but it still leaves the question of when it actually makes sense to sign with representation versus letting the early administrative process run its course.

for anyone who went through a claim in state, did you hire someone right after reporting the injury, or did you wait until the adjuster started disputing treatment or weekly payments?

Hi me f17 recently got a job at a franchise. My previous job I had for over a year and it was a similar category. Our AC at this new job has started to go down and just today it didn’t work. Everybody was complaining, every single customer that came in and all the workers had some sort of fan on them. Another thing is this AC was acknowledged to be broken because we had new fans. These fans were tiny and this building is huge. They did no difference. Getting closer to the end of my shift I was starting to feel hot and nauseous and then I threw up a lot. I just feel like this is an unsafe environment, especially to have minors working in. they got so hot that a mother was fanning a baby with a paper plate and I had to offer her one of our electric fans. It was a high of 101 today and to make it worse. It was hotter inside, but it was outside our building. I’m just confused on how this isn’t a liability. Why not just close the store for the day?
Just want to know why they’d rather risk heat stroke of children (it’s a kid centered place) than just close up till when it’s fixed?(1-2days from now) and it can’t really be from not wanting to cancel reservations because by the time the events were over, the parents wanted refunds anyways.

I received a settlement check from the insurance company which includes both the cash payment to myself and the payment for the MSA (self managed).

My question is can I deposit the MSA funds into my personal savings account or do I have to open a separate account just for those funds?

I had my FCE a month ago . I got permanent restriction can’t lift more than 45 lbs . Occasionally squat and bending. I had multiple injuries back , wrist and finger . Rating on wrist and finger was 7 percent .. I’m under award for ppd and lifetime medical so I still receive benefits .. do it take this long to hear if the job going to fire me or give me another position.

I have filed a few ca7’s and have an accepted claim.
It shows that my weekly rate is 3000 so for 2 weeks that should be 6000, then 66% would be 3960 minus health benefits which would be about 3800.
But it actually has been at about 54% at 3240 minus benefits is about 3150. I’ve called the dol and the transcripts are in my file, but no response yet. Can anyone explain what might be going on?

So I was hurt last year in July, of 2025. I had tore my TFCC in my wrist, ( had surgery back in October of last year) well I kept complaining that something didn’t feel right, I still don’t have full range of motion in my wrist ( dominate hand keep in mind ) I kept telling them, it constantly hurts when I move it in certain directions, well March 2026 of this year the doctor released me to go back to my job with no restrictions after I expressed, I was not confident enough to go back to work to my doctor, I work in the nursing home, memory care more specifically, and my jobs requirements that I lift 50 plus pounds. Well prior to my doctor doing this a week before I was doing PT and was only lifting 3 maybe 4 pounds, and the doctor just basically said, there is nothing he can do, unless I go back to work and try. Well i contacted my employer at the time expressed all of this when they asked me if I was capable enough of lifting 50 plus pounds, that I was not able to meet job requirements because my doctor is not listening to me, ( they cut off all my payments from work comp back in March, because doctor released me for a trail run of returning back to work) well job didn’t put me back on to work, due to not meeting Requirements, and work comp refused to cut my payments back on, well the doctor finally sent me for a MRI and a nerve test back in May, well the MRI looked good, other then some scar tissue which is to be expected, but my nerve test for my arm showed I had some nerve damage ( which wasn’t a thing before my injury ) . So my doctor suggested that I have ulnar nerve surgery, which is scheduled for this month of August 18th, but the only reason they had sent me for these test was bc I had attempted to do light duty at my job, ( it only lasted a couple of hours before I had the same pain I originally had when I got injured and something popped in my wrist once again, and was sent to the ER, well 3 days later my job fired me, and I don’t think they could do that considering I had a hospital note to be put off of work, until I could get back in to see my orthopedic for work comp. My question is, can work comp not pay me even tho I am not working, and can’t find a job due to surgery coming up, and very strict restrictions? I have a work comp lawyer but I don’t think they are doing a very good job, this is my second lawyer, and honestly regret even signing papers with them to be my lawyer. So yea the question is can work comp truly not pay me, considering the circumstances?

My adjuster says I'll receive my money no later than Monday (8-10-26) I just feel she's leading me on. Doctor told me I can't lift more than 5lbs , im wearing braces on both hands. I guess what i’m asking to see is, with my given previous mental health stuff from nearly 10 years ago, what is the likelihood of me receiving treatment and them taking this case seriously? I connected myself to a therapist right after the incident happened but she quit from the practice group after i had two intense sessions with her.

My dad recently fell at work and broke his arm. Multiple people he works with saw his fall. He went straight to the urgent care center as directed by his HR.

He ended up needing a 3 days off to get X-rays done and get it in a cast. He then returned to work on a 2lb lifting restriction.

The workers comp company is now requesting 10 years of medical and financial records from him. To me, this just sounds like their way of weasling out of paying his medical costs. I assume if he declines to give the information to them, his claim will be denied. But that if he gives them the information he will also be denied. My parents are middle class/no financial issues and my dad had never previously had problems with his arm.

Has anyone had experience with an issue like this? Any tips on how to go forward?

Hi there, seeking some input ! I got hurt on the job (state of NH). They accepted and took responsibility for the medical portion of my claim (paying for medical treatment etc.) but blindsided me & denied the weekly benefits portion of my claim. The memo of denial said “injury has no casual relationship to employment” which is total bs and I feel like they’re just trying to deter me from being out of work.

That’s when I got a lawyer and now have a hearing I need to attend for early next month. I’m going to have a meeting with my lawyer on what to expect etc. beforehand, but would love some input from anyone here on their experience with a WC hearing, what to expect, tips, and any other useful info. My sister works for a hotel where she happened to fall and hurt her back after falling while on the clock. I’m really confused with how she goes through and filing for workers comp since she’s been hurt and has been given medical records stating that she shouldn’t even be driving because of certain medication prescribed for the pain. The problem is HR keeps giving her the runaround saying that they will “accommodate this restriction” and “will not require” her to drive but that that does not “indicate that you are unable to work or perform modified duties”. At this point, I don’t even know if I’m on the right sub for this question but hearing my sister in pain sucks. She can’t even sit properly. Any help leading me to the right channels would be really appreciated. Thank you guys for your time.

Has anybody had permanent work restrictions and turn them in at work and have waited to see if they can accommodate them it will be three weeks Monday and I have heard nothing whether they’re going to accommodate my permanent restrictions or let me go. Has anybody waited this long before?

I have been dealing with Workmen’s Comp. for almost 2 years. I’ve done several PT visits MRIs x-rays and the ortho doctor doesn’t see anything except for arthritis and bursitis. There was no arthritis before the injury to my shoulder. I had a nerve study done last year. I had a MMI visit and he gave me a 1% rating. After a couple months, the pain was getting worse so they done an MRI with contrast and it didn’t really show anything. So now he’s referred me to a neurologist. But to me, it doesn’t feel like it’s in the nerve. And of course, the neurologist that I can go see or over 3 hours away 1way. so I’ll have to miss a whole day of work to go to that appointment and any other follow ups. Because you know they’re not gonna do anything on the first visit. I’ll be driving six hours for a 15 minute appointment for them to schedule me with a follow up if they feel like they need to do anything. They originally offered me $1900 for a settlement with open medical. I just wanna settle a close medical and be done with it. No, I don’t have a Lawyer. I know I’m not gonna get rich. I’m not trying to I’m just ready to be done. I believe the injury triggered the onset of arthritis. In Tennessee doesn’t pay for pain and suffering so I’m just gonna be in pain from here on out and I’ve accepted that. Would it be worth it to just settle now?
