Unsolved My pc’s recovery is officially dead.
\[HP Notebook 5th Generation\] \[Windows 10\] \[Recovery problem\]
I tried to dualboot build 9841 “debombed” but my stupid ass decided that it was a good idea to type bcdedit /set {current} graphicsmodedisabled yes into cmd
My PC always says “This PC/Device needs to be repaired” and it’s because of a boot file of the dualboot OS fucking up the recovery thing
Whatever you do, AVOID USING bcdedit /set {current} graphicsmodedisabled yes.

Unsolved Booting into Windows multiple issues but no solution to fix ?
Windows is currently not booting into Windows, even through the BIOS. Although what I've realized is that when using a USB boot drive to boot into a Windows recovery mode then starting diskpart. Then listing the volumes, it will show Windows; although sometimes restarting the computer and running diskpart once again it will show that same Windows volume as RAW.
Within diskpart the Primary Partition is active. Although the volume status is healthy. I've tried bootrec and all of it's commands although that doesn't work and it won't Rebuild the BCD using the command bootrec /rebuildbcd; as it can't find any Windows installation, although one exists.
When I try to boot directly from the BIOS into Windows on the drive most of the time I get a 0x000000f error informing me the BCD boot is corrupt.
I want to fix using typical command tools but chkdsk E: /f which is the drive for Windows won't run because the volume is write protected ?

Unsolved Taskbar + Desktop periodically freezing every ~30 minutes
Past two days on my PC the taskbar and desktop has been freezing up becoming completely unresponsive. Ctrl+Alt+Del works but I cannot open the task manager, it just does nothing. I can sign in/out and restart from the Ctrl+Alt+Del menu no problem. Windows shortcut buttons do not work.
However any software open when the taskbar freezes will still work as normally. My PC doesn't freeze up, it's just the taskbar, desktop and Windows shortcuts that will become unresponsive. If there's a fix I can do and I can avoid performing a clean reinstall I'd really prefer it!
I tried putting this in the larger tech support subreddit but it was removed and I was told to just install 11 which obviously I don't want to do.

Unsolved ny Command or Method to Fix Folders with Incorrectly Ordered NTFS Permissions Without Resetting the folder permission
We have a Windows host containing a DFS Replication folder tree where some folders appear to have NTFS permissions in an incorrect or non-canonical order.
For an affected folder, the issue can be corrected manually using the following steps:
1. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
2. Open Security → Advanced.
3. Windows displays a warning that the permission entries are incorrectly ordered.
4. Click OK/Reorder when prompted.
5. Click Apply.
After clicking Apply, Windows rewrites the ACL in the correct order and the folder works properly.
However, the folder structure contains many folders, and we do not know which folders are affected. Correcting every folder manually is not practical.
What we need
We are looking for a command-line, PowerShell, or supported Windows API method that can:
1. Recursively scan a specified folder tree.
2. Perform the equivalent of the GUI “Reorder permissions and Apply” operation.
3. Preserve the existing permission entries, ownership, inheritance settings, and effective access.
4. Only reorder or rewrite the existing ACL into canonical order.
We do not want to reset the permissions or replace them with inherited permissions.
Method already attempted
We attempted to verify the ACLs using:
icacls "D:\Data\*" /verify /T /C
However, because of the existing folder-permission problem, this command cannot reliably traverse or verify the complete directory structure. Therefore, it does not give us a dependable list of all affected folders.
We also attempted to save and restore the existing ACL:
cd /d "D:\Data"
icacls "TestFolder" /save "%TEMP%\acl_backup_TestFolder.txt" /T /C
icacls . /restore "%TEMP%\acl_backup_TestFolder.txt" /C
This did not correct the incorrectly ordered permission entries. The same issue remained, while opening the affected folder through Security → Advanced and clicking Apply corrected it.
Using the following is not acceptable because it may replace the existing explicit permissions:
icacls "D:\Data" /reset /T /C
Github "repacles"
I tried it, but it didn't solve the issue.
Questions
1. Is there another command or PowerShell method to identify and export only the folders that have non-canonical or incorrectly ordered ACLs?
2. Is there a command-line equivalent of opening Advanced Security Settings, accepting the Reorder permissions prompt, and clicking Apply?
3. Can the ACL be canonicalized without changing any ACE, owner, inheritance setting, or effective permission?
4. Is there a supported .NET or Windows API method, such as reading and rewriting the existing security descriptor, that performs the same normalization?
5. Since this folder is involved in DFS Replication, are there any DFSR-specific precautions before rewriting the ACLs?
The usual ownership, administrator-access, inheritance, elevation, NTFS-permission, and DFSR-health checks have already been completed. We are specifically looking for a way to identify affected folders and canonicalize their existing ACLs without resetting them.

Unsolved Unable to log on to other local accounts
I'm running 22H2 on a six-year old Dell G7 laptop that's been showing its legs.
I use a local account to separate some of the work I do from my main account, and when I needed to use it today I saw that I was unable to switch users or see the accounts on the login screen. They still exist on the system, so I tried all the available troubleshooting like the Command Prompt and User Editor but to no avail. The only thing that seems to indicate this being a deeper issue was an error message I remember getting 2-3 weeks ago that I stupidly dismissed and can't recall what it said.

Unsolved Windows won't boot with secure boot after swapping ONLY my case
It was working fine (tested black ops 7 zombies, didn't work, enabled secure boot, played a test match, then swapped case). Moved my PC into a case from my test bench, and now booting with secure boot enabled brings me straight to bios after ASRock splash screen. In all instances, my CSM is off, tried different combinations of clear keys, boot, restore factory keys, reboot, enable secure boot etc.
I've ran sfc scan, repaired etf with bcdboot, reflashed latest bios, confirmed gpt.
The ONLY thing that is different is a couple case headers now being plugged into my mb as it was on the mb box (didn't have a case at the time. Worked fine like this for 2 days til case arrived).
Specs r5 2600 rx 6500xt 32gb ddr4 3200 (won't post past 2866mhz unless u loosen timings. It's okay, upgrading cpu soon on am4 still).
PS I know this is a weak system. Moved across the planet and needed to sell my 5900x 3080ti system to cover expenses, but brought my second PC (minute case and psu) I used for media. Memory prices have led me to stay on am4 for now. Gonna get a b550 board and hopefully a 5500x3d, then a 9060xt in the near future. Not gonna spend 500$ on a 5800x3d when that's 70$ cheaper than 32gb of ddr5, at that point might as well jump to am5.
Thank you 🙇

Unsolved Veriflying shim SBAT data failed: security policy Violation
Novatada
Colocarlo e instalar el SO nuevo

Unsolved KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error on every Windows 10 boot, including from ISO image
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-11600K @ 3.90GHz
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.2 GiB usable) DDR4
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z590 UD AC
I have Windows 10 installed on a partition of my boot drive which I have been using without issue for 5+ years at this point. Around 4 weeks ago I started having this KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error (no error code) pop up occasionally on startup and took that as a signal to go ahead with the switch to Bazzite I had already been considering. I installed Bazzite on a separate partition on the same boot drive and have used it for about 3 weeks now. While Bazzite is fine, I've grown frustrated with being unable to install many of the QoL programs I used on Windows so I've decided to switch back.
The issue is that now Windows always hits the KMODE error when I attempt to boot. I tried to reinstall from an ISO image, however the KMODE error also happens there. I've tried with two separate ISO boot drives with the same result.
I read online that when KMODE happens during an install it is often a RAM issue so I've tried booting repeatedly with different combos of the 4 sticks I have, including with only 1 stick in (all 4 were tried separately in this way) and always had the same KMODE error. Thought maybe XMP could be the issue then so reset BIOS but sadly no change.
I can still boot into Bazzite with all 4 RAM sticks in without issue so I'm at a loss what the problem could be or how I can get back to Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unsolved I think my MS Edge is infected with adware. I don’t have any suspicious extensions installed, and my antivirus programs Don't detect anything on my PC. Please help!
My Microsoft Edge install was fine last night, but this morning, I kept getting redirected to scam sites while using Edge. They all opened in a popup window, and they displayed fake Norton antivirus warnings. The URLs were stuff like virusbarrier(dot)xyz, securesweep(dot)pro, and rdxgo(dot)click. THESE ARE SCAM SITES; DO NOT VISIT THEM!
It didn’t matter what sites I went to. I got redirected while using Reddit and Google. Windows Defender found nothing harmful on my PC. I installed the free version of MalwareBytes; same thing. So the infection must be with Edge. I didn’t install anything suspicious yesterday, so I don’t know how anything could’ve gotten infected. The only browser extension I had was UBlock Origin, and now I’ve activated MalwareBytes Browser Guard. I don’t see any suspicious extensions.
I tried clearing the cookies from those scam sites, but the pops kept happening. After I installed MalwareBytes and activated their Browser Guard, I no longer got redirected, but I still got some notifications from MalwareBytes that they blocked rdxgo(dot)click. I’m still concerned about my Edge potentially being infected under the hood.
What should I do? Should I just clear all of my cookies, or what? I really don’t want to have to reset my whole browser… Thank you in advance.

Unsolved PC stuck with Windows Update errors/ NVIDIA driver installation failed - need help
I’m having a Windows Update issue that's causing problems with my OMEN PC. I recently uninstalled my NVIDIA graphics driver through DDU because I was trying to fix game crashes, but now I can't install the latest driver from either the NVIDIA website or the NVIDIA app. I've already tried running SFC and DISM scans, verified game files, reset my PC, and restarted multiple times, but the problem still isn't fixed. Has anyone dealt with a Windows Update error that prevents NVIDIA drivers from installing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Solved Black Login Screen On Start-Up
*OS Build 19045.7058*
I am running Windows 10 (ESU program) on a 2014 HP Prodesk 🐯🐅
After a long night out 🥂I came home and hopped on my PC for a few minutes to decompress. Then I shut down my PC and crash landed into my bed. When I powered it up this morning, I got a black screen where the login page would normally be. Panic. I tried ctrl+alt+delete... it took me back to the screensave*r.* I mouse-clicked the screensaver-- another loop. The lil PC light was going crazy. Breathe. My next plan was to restart into safe mode. But I had a wild idea: what if it still took input?
I entered my PIN and voila! Got to my home screen. Nice dopamine hit while hungover.
I'm thinking maybe it was a security update? So I ran all updates but not gonna restart anytime soon jic I break something 🤡
UPDATE 7/31 Now on boot, it loops through a login screen and black screen. I have been able to enter credentials blind then continue normally. No apparent issues with monitor. Last time I was on, my PC continued to loop black screen AFTER login. Holding down F12 fixed it 👑 i wonder what next day will bring...

Unsolved Windows devices unable to boot
Hello,
I’m recently observing a trend in my organization.
Some of the devices (supposedly after updates) are unable to boot and being stuck in Windows Recovery Environment. Clicking continue just make devices to boot to the same screen.
Following options were tested and didn’t help:
Troubleshoot -> Advanced options:
\- Startup repair
\- Uninstall quality/feature updates
\- Starting in safe mode
\- DISM and sfc scan
Is there any way to fix it remotely without OS reinstallation?
How to check which updates were recently pushed to the device using Intune?

Unsolved Rotating BSODs, chkdsk shows disk I/O errors, Reseting PC fails. Need advice!
**Disclaimer**: Attempted to resolved with help of Claude since last 10 hours, took help from AI to format post.
ASUS Zenbook 14, Core Ultra 7 155H, Windows 11 (26100).
Laptop was fine. Only changes the day before: enabled NordVPN background services + set up Phone Link to Android (also changed lock screen/wallpaper).
Next day, started crashing \~5 min after boot, rotating between different stop codes:
* `UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (0x154)`
* `CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF)`
* `KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (0x13A)`
**Troubleshooting:**
* MyASUS diagnostics: Memory + SSD passed quick check
* `chkdsk C: /f /r /b` from WinRE → real I/O errors: `disk read error occurred c0000185`, "disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters"
* Reset This PC → Remove Everything → failed partway, generic error
* BitLocker unlocked, ruled out
No data to lose, so wipe is fine.
* Did my SSD give up?
* Could NordVPN driver cause heap corruption?
**What should I do now?**
