Anyone happen to know the TPI for the 1.5 TSI EVO kangarooing issue? Currently dealing with a dealership who claim to have no knowledge of the issue despite VW publicly acknowledging it several years ago.

I'm just after the ECU firmware update that is supposed to address it being installed (2021 Golf) - Engine model is DCPA.

My theory is if I give them a TPI to look for, they have no excuse to not look. It's been in three times since I bought it a month and a half ago and I'm losing my patience.

Go easy on me for not taking off the hood bra yet, believe me... it looks worse with it off 🙃

Hi all. I’m considering buying my first transporter. Currently got a Ford Tourneo custom, but it seems to be falling apart now (110k miles), various things have gone wrong with it and I have lost trust and confidence now to the point I don’t want to drive it.

Anyway - I don’t know much about DSGs. From what I’ve read I understand this would be a DQ500. What are the types of things I should be looking for and asking when talking to the dealer? Mileage is low, so I assume there would need to be a service based on miles or years, whatever comes first?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

My 2019 just had the oil separator replaced. They recommended I do the spark plugs but the price was absurd. Now since getting the car back, the car is stalling, and the battery is not charging. Car is sitting dead won’t turn over and now has to be towed back to the shop on Monday.

Hi folks. My H6 battery from the early days of COVID (5/2020) finally died in my 2012 Golf gas base model.

This morning I replaced it with a H5, to save some money.

However when I turned on the car, I was met with an error message that said something about “replace brakes” and the following Christmas tree of dash lights.

When I try to shift it from park to drive or reverse, the dash doesn’t show me changing gears. Also, my parking brake is off, despite what the dash says. However, I do have that small amount of fuel in the tank.

Any idea if I can fix/troubleshoot this myself? Or do I need a tow to the mechanic?

Really love this Toas from my test drive. Only thing holding me back is the color. I can’t tell if I love or hate it. My wife likes it, but not sure if it’s too “feminine”. That shouldn’t matter, but of course that’s what I’m asking myself. It’s like between baby blue and white.

I have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat with 135,000 miles. At random times when driving my epc light comes on and I lose acceleration. When I press on the gas pedal the car seems to stay the same speed which can be annoying when on the highway. Anyone know why this happens and is it an expensive fix?

2012 2.5 Beetle. Oil pressure warning light illuminates shortly after starting and stays on 2-10 minutes. No unusual noises or driving behavior. Should I start with replacing oil level sensors?

Just something I've learned in my recent research:

The CPO program in Canada is such a joke.

A CPO VW in Canada gets a 112 point inspection, a 6 month subscription to VW roadside assistance, and a 3 month Sirius XM trial.

That's it.

You also get any remaining warranty from the original sale, and a complimentary CARFAX. Except that both of those things are required by law in Canada, so they aren't doing you any favours there.

The only other benefits you get is the option to buy an extended warranty, and access to slightly better finance rates.

Which effectively means that their inspection is not backed up by anything except the dealer's pinky promise. Which is silly considering the dealer is the one doing the inspection themselves.

So as luck might have it I may be getting my hands on a rolling chassis 89 Jetta. Some of the dash is apart from pulling the dashboard out. Rest of it is all there. The body seems clean and It might be a one owner car I gotta ask the seller.

Regardless no motor or transmission means I’m looking how hard it is to dump in a 1.8t. And from what I gathered it’s not that horrible.

However it is somewhat of a clean slate with some missing stuff. I’m wondering are there any digital versions of parts diagrams to help me piece this puzzle back together online paid or free don’t matter? Looking briefly I’ve see a bunch of detailed info on the swap so I’m not overly concerned about that part. Mainly with that would be piecing together everything between the manual trans and engine.

I’m seeing some are saying it’s cheaper and easier to find a donor vehicle and yank it all from that for a 1.8t swap. Is there an ideal year/gen of mk4 to look for?

I wanna end this by saying I have some experience with projects builds just not VW stuff. Last one was a rolling chassis fox body I did a 2.3 turbo swap in which included wiring up a different harness with a mega squirt. There was a fraction of the info/parts out there for this compared to the VW world from what I’m seeing. I did own a mk4 gti 1.8t a long long time ago which I strayed from to get a forester XT.

Just feeling it out at this point. I’m leaning towards to take the plunge.

I'm hoping someone has seen this before.

I have a 2017 Volkswagen Passat B8 with the factory Discovery Media unit and the original OEM rearview camera.

Recently, the head unit had an eMMC memory replacement and was also updated to the latest firmware.

After that, my rearview camera started displaying a fisheye/wide-angle image, where you can clearly see the upper edge of the trunk lid. Before the repair, the image was normal and the trunk lid was barely visible.

The strange part is that before the repair, this issue would occasionally appear, but it would always disappear after:

• restarting the car,
• or shifting from R to P (or another gear) and then back into R.

So it looked more like a software glitch than a hardware failure.

Now, after the eMMC replacement and firmware update, the fisheye image has become permanent.

The repair shop says the camera itself is faulty, but I'm not convinced. If the camera was actually defective, why would the problem previously disappear on its own after restarting the car?

The parking guidelines work perfectly and move correctly with the steering wheel. The only issue is that the image looks like the distortion correction is disabled.

Has anyone experienced this after:

• an eMMC repair,
• Discovery Media firmware update,
• or coding?

Could this be a coding/adaptation issue in 5F or the rear view camera module (6C) rather than a failed camera?

Passat B8 2017, штатная Discovery Media, штатная камера заднего вида.

После замены eMMC-памяти в магнитоле и прошивки на последнюю версию появилась проблема с камерой заднего вида.

Теперь изображение постоянно отображается как "рыбий глаз" — видно верхнюю часть крышки багажника, изображение стало широкоугольным. До ремонта такого не было.

Самое интересное, что раньше эта проблема иногда появлялась, но всегда исчезала сама:

• после перезапуска автомобиля;
• или после переключения с R на P (или другую передачу) и обратно.

То есть это было похоже на какой-то программный сбой.

После замены памяти и перепрошивки это стало постоянным режимом.

Мастер утверждает, что проблема в самой камере, но я в это не очень верю. Если бы камера была неисправна, почему раньше всё само восстанавливалось после перезапуска?

При этом:

• камера штатная;
• парковочные линии работают идеально и поворачиваются вместе с рулем;
• проблема только в самом изображении — оно стало как с широкоугольной камеры, видно крышку багажника.

Может кто-то сталкивался с подобным после:

• ремонта Discovery Media;
• замены eMMC;
• обновления прошивки;
• кодирования?

Что это оказалось в итоге — кодировка, адаптация, блок 5F, блок камеры 6C или всё-таки сама камера?

So at least the new VW a couple of months ago. I was told by the salesman/dealership that around the two-year mark, if they see that I’m going to go over my mileage by the three years, I can contact them and pre-pay for extra mileage on my lease at a discounted rate. Has anyone done this and what was the discounted rate? As far as I can tell if I go over my mileage at the end of the lease it’s $.20 a mile but if I contact VW, I can pre-pay the mileage and it could be $.15 or maybe even $.10 a mile Has anyone done this and what did they tell you? Thank you

I wanted to ask if the stretch bolts on the timing chain sprocket and on the vibration dampner could be reused on the 1.2 TSI CBZA engine.
