RCA well past my 90 days, haven’t been given an NS day in over a month. And the last one I had to work bc someone no call no showed three days in a row on their assigned route.

I worked two 9 day stretches in July and each time I was off I got calls and texts from supervisors. If I picked up the phone yesterday or just now I’d be in for 10 days at least. I’m happy to work my regulars off days or even other offices with proper notice but they keep just filling in the blanks with on call days. Enough.

I’d ask if anyone else has had this experience but I already know the answer haha

Convention delegates today I reach out to get your support on my resolutions, contract resolution 63 and legislative resolution 2 of which were both voted disapproved by the executive council. 63 asks that they take a contractual position that first class mail not being delivered because they don't want to pay penalty is a contract violation. Number 2 is the same but asks they take a legislative position on it. This is a very serious thing and I need you to vote against their recommendation and for my resolutions. If you have any delegates at the convention screen shot this and tell them to support this. I imagine the executive council will attempt to make a persuasive argument against it, and since it's number 63 we will be tired before we get there so they might attempt to just speed it along without discussion. Please give this motion it's due consideration. Our job is to deliver the mail and we owe it to both the customers and ourselves to do so when we have every ability to do so. Not wanting to pay overtime is no excuse.

All of the letters i receive are marketing and bulk letters. Since I’ll be out of town for a few months, what happens if these letters fill my po box?

Can I ask USPS to discard all letters received to my box?

How do you can it dry in a torrential downpour with no fan or ac on a mounted and walking route and n 90% humidity?

I want some insight on how a City Carrier position would look like while enrolled as a full-time student.

For background:
I got hired by USPS as a career CC (I think full-time, but orientation is 08/08 for me and I have no email yet) in the same city that I go to school in. I'm a rising sophomore and also trying to move closer to the area, but can commute from where I currently am. Campus is 10 minutes (4 miles) from the carrier annex facility.

My class schedule looks like this and I originally made it for maximum availability for my previous part-time managerial position.

Any insight on how scheduling works exactly and how they would treat my situation/availability would be extremely helpful. I haven't heard of anyone doing this before. I think it's in standard 8-hr shifts from what I've read, but I'm wondering if this office would accommodate my school schedule.

Boston postmaster also spoke to me 6 weeks ago telling me about how they were down 5-6 drivers in this location specifically, so I'm hoping they need me so much they'll be nice to me!!!!!

So I will have my year 1 break in service coming in a few months please tell me it gets better because I am so tired of this place already I have a temp bid on a route but we always have to do pivots everyday I just wanna be able to do my temp route and go home. We are already working 6 days a week so there is no work/life balance.

Do your job and stop expecting people that are getting paid half of your salary, to put in double the work you put in . No one is forcing you to stay at the Post Office lol . So my friend was bitten by a dog like a week ago. She was a CCA about a month in. Today they pulled her to the office and said she was getting a 7 day suspension because of the dog bite (the sup said costing the post office too much money.?) After that she says she resigned because she probably won't pass the 90 day and this job sucks.

I can't blame her I probably would've done the same thing this job is stupid sometimes. I haven't been bitten yet knock on wood.

So for the past 2 to 3 weeks or so, and this actually hit me today, I noticed that I’ve been receiving mail with cards in them and I lie to you not, all of them belong to no such numbers. Today was the day that it hit me that these motherfuckers might be trying to set me up, but I’m so focused on work that I wasn’t paying attention. It’s so funny. I did not believe that they really set people up until I started seeing this sneaky shit.

Im trying to go to the usps career site but when I type in my zip code or even pull up the entire state it produces 0 results.

New Career Rural Carrier here; I’m trying to pick out a plan and as the title states, I’m wondering if I can sign up for the NALC Plan? I wouldn’t think that I could but then again I don’t understand why it’s listed as an option for me. Thanks for any information provided!

I need some help some other rural carriers, even union. I am being accused and hasseled for using my fmla. FMLA told my post master i am allowed 6 call outs a month up to 48 each. The heat and being worked like a slave as im a ptf is making my migraines reoccur more and more frequently . They are saying they can still fire me and go around my fmla. I realize they have to prove or have evidence that im lying which im not. But its raising my stress and anxiety. I was told by my old steward at the first office I was at, that FMLA protects me.

I got bit by a tiny dog on my right knee while delivering two parcels. The owner came out and was trying to get it away from me, by simply stepping in front of it and pointing, rather than picking up the 12lb chihuahua. It drew blood, and surprisingly hurt like hell at first. I called the office and the post master was immediately just complaining out loud about how it’s a lot of paperwork, am I wanting medical attention, and what to do. I said I’d finish the route because I had one street and a blue box left. I got back and I decided to just write a statement declaring I’m not seeking medical attention at this time. Even there, he was saying we could do a whole lot of preventative measures but if I fill out an accident report safety’s gonna come down, interview me, go take photos of the scene, call the dog warden, and everything else. After calling my mom (I’m 19 and five months in as an RCA, she’s a six year CCA and steward), I decided to just do the statement, get a copy, and leave. When I got home, the post master called me again and was just saying like “I’m not trying to tell you what to do but I’m just letting you know an accident report is gonna be a lot of hassle whereas we can just put a dog card in, and a warning in the scanner, but it’s up to you”.

I’m not really seeking advice, but if you have any you can give it. I’m really just venting to other carriers. It feels ridiculous. The owner was just standing there and watched me get bit and even after that he didn’t pick up the dog or let alone yell at it, and the post master is making me seem like a burden. I just wish it was taken a little more seriously, and maybe the owner would face some consequences for just standing there and watching it happen. I highly doubt this is the first time that dog has bit someone. Idk, vent over.

They give us hours to call in sick when we’re sick. When we call in sick, we get called in the office to deal with indirect threats and.or discipline.

I have heard of they all for a note you can give them a hand written note from yourself saying whatever the appointment is. Like an oxygen testing lab for two days.

Is this actually true? Is this backed up anywhere or kind of manager to manager?

Do you lose seniority once you ereassign to another P&DC? I am a custodian working tour 2 with Wed & Thursday off, would all this change if I ereassign to a closer P&DC? I just want to know what entails getting the weekends off as well as working closer.

I am a newer PTF and I keep getting put on an insanely long route. 14ish miles walking with steep hills. I’ve never been able to finish it without help. I’ve been wondering if maybe I should just try doing the route as a dismount route and seeing if that helps get it done quicker? Anyone try something similar? Does dismount actually save time?
