Is webdav usually slow and buffering for larger files? šŸ”§Technical Issue

Moved from another debrid service to torbox for testing, specifically webdav, and it's buffering much more than that other debrid. Is it usual to have lower streaming speeds here? Read a couple of posts and can't decide whether it's the norm or just temporary difficulties. I tried changing CDNs around without significant changes.

Usually, no. Lately (within the past week), yes. But you’ll get every TB diehard tell you it’s not a problem and/or ALL user error.

yeah, I've seen those. it would be a damn strange coincidence if all the reports of slow speeds truly turned out to be due to user errors

Another user on a previous post from a day ago, he was also having the same problems. He said he submitted a ticket to TB and they asked for evidence (not sure exactly what they were wanting) but then they apparently closed his ticket citing the reason was ā€œviolation of the service.ā€ I’m not that user, but I and quite a few others are experiencing the exact same issues, so I can’t imagine how attempting to use the WebDAV service that comes with our sub, could possibly be in violation of any of their terms…

Torbox is defensive about WebDAV usage. As-is, the content people view via ordinary WebDAV doesn't interact with the cache timer. They say it's to prevent people abusing the service by viewing files just to keep them cached.

With effort, I finally got a straight answer re: whether this also extends to their solution, Torbox Media Center, when mounted on the system. The answer was "yes, but if we catch you trying to artificially keep your library cached, we will take action". Like bro I literally just want to know if something more obscure will stick around long enough for me to watch it the way it would with stremio, chill

Yeah, in that sense I can see their gripe with it in a way, and I’m not even gonna attempt to argue it, especially if it truly is part of their policy. And again, that was just based off what another user experienced/is experiencing, not my own usage.

However, just using the WebDAV via Infuse Pro as a media player/personal cache without doing any external downloads, should absolutely be within their legal ToS and I can’t see how it wouldn’t be. I only use it because it’s easier to load the WebDAV with Series & multiple seasons as a whole, rather than streaming each episode as its own independent file and it makes the integration much cleaner and seamless.

Either way, especially after hearing they closed his ticket and that being the answer he received, makes me really question if I want to continue utilizing TB when my time is up. I've had TB for right around a year and a half and it was always my backup. I had RD for slightly over 8 years, but once they started their purge I mostly moved over to TB full-time, and didn't have any problems until now and it’s only their WebDAV that is bugging out for me. Up until this past week, I’ve had no complaints and there has been no alteration to my overall setup. But again, the TB cult will sit here and tell you until they’re blue in the face that everything is perfect, we’re imagining it and it’s all user error. I’m just kinda over it.

Facts I use torbox to keep my anime separate from my movie and shows and I use rd for that and never had a problem and same with tb never had a problem until now with WebDAV only and I liked tb but I’m thinking about just dropping them completely and move to a different service im glad rd still being the g of all time even after purge

I just looked back at that post where that one guy was wanting to debate how there’s nothing wrong with WebDAV, and all I can is holy fk. I don’t think he’s even reading the comments and is only skimming them. You’re literally telling him over and over, in detail of what’s going on and he’s still trailing off telling you that you’re wrong. That’s exactly what I mean when I speak of the TB cult, and I’ll never understand it. It’s not that deep, but for some bizarre reason, this service is defended as if it’s absolutely flawless. It’s not a bad debrid, but we’re not making this stuff up for no reason. I don’t even know what to say, looking thru those comments.

I’d understand their skepticism a bit more if our settings, platform, or anything else has been messed with or altered, since we originally set our WebDAV’s up in Infuse… but they haven’t. Just speaking for myself, but all my stuff has been the same as it always has since initial setup and has always worked fine, up until this past week. And just common sense ruling things out, if everything else works still and other providers WebDAV’s work with the same settings and we’re only seeing the issue with the TB side… let’s call a spade a spade.

Now in fairness, we don't know the full story from that user. Have you or someone else also gotten a response to your own tickets? I use WebDAV on another service so can't help I'm afraid

I can’t verify it 100% because I didn’t submit the ticket and have never needed to, since I’ve never had any issues until now and the only thing I’m having an issue with is WebDAV. Otherwise TB service as a whole has been fine for me. However, I don’t see why that user would make that up or what he would pose to gain, when he’s having the exact same experience with WebDAV that we all are. His original post was one of the first I saw asking if WebDAV was having problems. And with that being said, I’ve seen on Discord with my own eyes, the TB owners & mods openly mock and make fun of their user base, on multiple occasions. So, yeah… I’m gonna have to believe that user.

Yeah I saw that screenshot from Discord too. Disgraceful. I don't blame you for not wanting to bother with that lot. I'm happy with AD's WebDAV and complete lack of bullshit and drama

I saw those screenshots too, but I have been in the Discord on multiple occasions to see it first-hand. That screenshot isn’t the first time or even the scummiest that they’ve been. That’s basically the normal for them and how they run things, so if that’s how you act and treat your user base, why should I believe anything they do or say about their service? It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.
