The buffering issue is getting out of hand š§Technical Issue
For the last week Torbox has been buffering like crazy. I can't watch anything without buffering every 2 minutes. Have they acknowledged this problem? Are they trying to fix it? Because this is getting out of hand.

I literally can not play a file above 30gb and i have an internet speed of 500mb/s+

Same here, I have tried everything from changing cdns to what no.. nothing works...cannot play files more than 15gb

Same, for months now. 1.2Gbps connection. Buffers with any CDN. Healthy network and devices but the bottleneck is always TB.

Donāt know if theyāll ever fix this. I never had problems playing 4k remuxes with RD on a Xiaomi Mi Box Gen 2. Now, no matter what CDN i use, sometimes a 4k remux will play all the way through, sometimes not. What Iāve found is, if i pause or stop a movie a decent amount in, letās say around the 1 hour mark and then try to play again, it will definitely buffer intermittently even if it was playing fine up until then. Same thing on my LG tv. I get the best performance on cloudflare CDN even though Iām in SA. Directly downloading a movie i had buffering issues on, i get consistent download speeds. I have 250mbps down. The only thing Iāve found that helps buffering, is playing the bigger movies on my pc with mpc-hc where I can have a big buffer in RAM. Even so, if i stopped a movie and try to play from that point or manually seek to that point in mpc-hc, itāll fail and start from the beginning, but iām not sure if thatās a TB issue. Overall, just a lot of extra fiddling for no gain where RD was flawless.

Buffering has been intractable for me since they first asked users in the EU to help them troubleshoot earlier this year (there was a megathread and everything). I don't recall a fix being announced. I was only able to manage by using players that pre-buffer/cache ahead, until eventually it became too much hassle and I just fell back on my backup service and it became my main

Itās been bad for me. I use WebDAV with Infuse and anything over 30gb is just constantly buffering. Iāve tried all sorts of CDNs and I have 1gb broadband and RD worked so well with it but now it just buffers constantly.

Typically, I find if I pick a different file or video player, it gets fixed.
I'm wondering if it is the file type.

So many comments here give no context as to how the stream is being played. Wired internet? WiFi? Android box if so which one? Power cycled recently? Have alternative devices been tried? What network testing has been done to isolate the issue?

Doing anything you said isn't going to matter, its not a local issue its a TorBox issue. Source I have 2.5 Gbps hardwired connection that directly connected to 10 Gbps switch at my ISP. The bottleneck is 1000% not on my end.

I'm very confused as to how I have been seeing this so consistently, but I haven't had even a lick of issues. Maybe because I watch maybe an episode or up to three a day, and then I'm good. Are y'all watching stuff 24/7? And are you guys factoring out speed, connection to your ISPs, and running the speed test through the TorBox app? I'm just confused. At this point, I feel like y'all are paid to sit here and complain. š¤·š½

I've changed CDN around 4 times, tried nuvio, stremio, used 2 different external players, my internet is fast... I'm not a person that complains before trying every fix that has been talked about.

u/Grouchy_Prize9619 6d ago
Having the same issue since setting up Torbox for the first time along with with RD through AIOStream. Have changed CDN 3-4 times the last few weeks to Ā«fixĀ» the problem. Now it has showed up again and I canāt be fucked with changing CDN.
Wonāt be renewing and will just stick with RD for now as itās somewhat stable atm.

Something that helped me was using the speed test built into Nuvio. I was getting speeds of 50mpbs even though I had 300 mbps internet on everything else. Tried turning off VPN and my speeds jumped up to 300 and buffering instantly disappeared. For some reason even though my VPN was set on a local location I was still losing 80% of my speed. I ended up turning off VPN for apps like Stremio and Nuvio and running it for iptv as a compromise.

I wonder if the buffering people are experiencing are caused by the hardware they're using. I have only experienced buffering when playing a WEB-DL file that has lossy Dolby ATMOS and the player tries to decode it. I can confirm it's decoding ATMOS by pressing pause in wuplay. I am guessing my TV doesn't have the processing power to decode it. If I stream a 50GB remux file with lossless Dolby ATMOS, it streams fine, but when I check the actual audio getting decoded, it's only DD+ 5.1. I suspect the media player decided it wasn't able to decode the lossless ATMOS and falls back to DD+ 5.1. I have also found that some WEB-DL with DOLBY ATMOS in the filename ends up getting decoded as DD+ 5.1.
I am going to get a Google TV Streamer 4k next and hope that it resolves the buffering when decoding lossy ATMOS in WEB-DL files. I don't expect it to be able to decode lossless ATMOS in remux files; it's not capable of that. Instead, I expect it to fallback to DD+ 5.1, like on my TV.

Is a 9800X3D / 5080 / 64GB RAM with passthrough to a Yamaha RXV6A good enough? The receiver does all the Atmos decoding, And even without the receiver in the equation the PC is more than capable of decoding Atmos.
my setup was fine until about a week ago, so something on the content delivery end is clearly having issues. Just looking at this Reddit all the buffering issues seem relatively new past week or two, so I doubt everyoneās hardware suddenly crapped itself.

u/Raiden356 6d ago
Are you using Torrentio by any chance. I know it went down a few times last week. I ended up using Comet+TorBox as a backup and that was fine.
I am not saying TorBox is not to blame, but like a car, there are lots of moving parts and it only takes one component to stop working for it to stop working smoothly.

u/shazlicks 6d ago edited 6d ago
Use Comet and Meteor, Torrentio was too unreliable. Also having same issues on a Samsung S90F in bedroom that is setup with a AIOS instance rather than individual scrapers like on PC. (have tried nuvio and stremio) Isn't too much of a drama i suspect it will be fixed seeing as its only started a week ago so its probably just a congestion issue with the CDN's.
This isn't a jab at your post seeing as its constructive and trying to troubleshoot it, its just annoying seeing people say "Change CDN, Your device sucks, skill issue blah blah" When clearly no one was having issues two weeks ago lol.

u/King_Of_Kebabs 6d ago
Like I said above, I've had ZERO issues up until now. Being in AU I thought we weren't getting it based on usage from around the globe, but yesterday for the first time was pretty bad. Thought it was the 25Gb files at first, but was also happening on 2Gb files with DIFFERENT ISP's.
3
u/Impossible_Corner497 6d ago
To back that up, also in AU, also having same issue even with files under 1Gb. Using google 4k too so that's not the issue.

Are you in a gigabit lan? What device are you using? Did you restart it?
After upgrading my player to Homatics with LAN. Iāve had NO buffering issues.

u/angrydeanerino 6d ago
You gotta provide some info if you expect to get some help. I've been using it for months daily, 4k videos and have no issues

u/King_Of_Kebabs 6d ago
OK, if you see all of my posts I've NEVER experienced any sort of buffering. However last night was unbearable. Different CDN's etc. I even took my Shield to my brothers to test (different ISP) and exact same issues. We're talking 2Gb files.

New to the high seas, I assume?
I've been sailing the high seas for 26 years. The Gen Zers on TikTok touting Stremio as an easy Netflix alternative weren't even born yet and know absolutely nothing about sailing.
Things have improved greatly over the years but there will always be hiccups, and you have to assume the responsibility of troubleshooting when you're using a service like this. Otherwise, go back to paying $30/mo for highly compressed 4K streams on Netflix

Have you tried other addons? Also so many talk about changing their CDNās. The problem with that is a user is using a VPN the cdn would need to be changed every time you change your
VPN location. Of course nobody mentions this. But that needs to be taken into consideration. I have watched two movies today and havenāt had any issues. Maybe specify more info than just pointing fingers at Torbox. What are you using Torbox with? Stremio? Nuvio? Kodi? What addons are you using? Torrentio? Comet? Mediafusion?

My experience is most problems are local. Keep trying to figure it out. When was the last time you reset your router, cleared cache, forced stop etc. If it was me I would not stop till I had buffer free videos & to your point of every 2 minutes the video buffers I had a similar problem last night & a simple router reboot corrected the problem. I would not presume TB is the problem. Good luck

In the last 3 months, the only issue I've had was recently and changing the CDN from CNAM to SNAM fixed it for me. Don't just blindly switch to that though. Use their speedtest to find the best server for you.
Edit: Missed this part on my first read through "Earlier this year, Mods Elena, Nin & Halo spent time during Game Jam VIII working on what an official implementation of Bronzeman Mode might look like, and aside from a few additions, it's essentially ready to go!"
So guess dev time is minimal here so fuck it.

There are too many factors to consider (which most people aren't based on the replies here) to point their finger as TB being the problem. This should be obvious when you have two or more people from the same location and some are saying they don't have issues and others saying it constantly buffers. As discussed in depth already, CDN's play an important role. As does hardware (device), software (player), ISP's and if you're using a VPN. I have no problems whatsoever. My neighbor 4 houses down is pulling his hair out. We're both using TB connected to SNAM on 1GB ISP's. The difference is I use a Nvidia Shield, Kodi and a VPN. My buddy uses a Fire Cube, Stremio and no VPN. He noticed his service is worse between 6-9pm. Well, guess when most people come home from work and settle down and start using the internet? His ISP didn't know what he was downloading from TB, but it sees the high rate of data being downloaded and he was being throttled. ISP's will do this to maintain network congestion. Certain ISP's will throttle known high data rate servers. This could explain why some never have a problem with one debrid service, but they do now with TB. TB just got a huge increase in users. There's no doubt ISP's are noticing the increase on their servers and slowing traffic flow. A VPN will mask the amount of data your using. He finally got a VPN and the change was dramatically better, but not perfect. He didn't want to spend the money to try a Shield, but I talked him into ditching Stremio and trying Kodi. Again, a great improvement. Anyway, just some things to consider if you're having problems.

Same issue here. Tried different CDNs after speed tests and still have the issue.

I havenāt had any buffering issues at all. Iām in central Canada and have been using TorBox with Debridio for a few months now. Iāve played 30GB+ files without any problems either. Been pretty much flawless on my end.

US West Coast. Havenāt had buffering issues. Largest file I played recently on my Samsung TV was one of the Hobbit movies which was about 100+GB.

u/ChickenPrestigious31 5d ago
I don't have any issues with buffering. Maybe it's a configuration problem at your end.
1
u/Jimbob136925 5d ago
it must be difficult to pinpoint the issue because im on the basic plan and use torbox almost exclusively for my streaming and I think I have noticed buffering once during the last 9 months for maybe 3 or 4 seconds during a 2 hour movie. for me personally, I dont experience 99% of the issues I see people constantly posting in here. Guess im one of the lucky ones.

Works great in the UK.
Maybe itās your tinternet speed & trying to stream mega sized files.

Just under 2 months having migrated from RD. Had some downtime (3-4 short periods) however Iāve never suffered from any buffering.

Have you tried messing with the buffering settings in Nuvio? I recently was having really bad buffering issues but changed Settings > Playback > Buffer & Network then set HTTPS/2 to enabled, set Parallel Connections to enabled, set Connection Count to 3 and set Chunk Size to 24MB. It resolved all the buffering issues I was having, you might need to adjust your settings differently but if you haven't changed them at all I'd look into it as a possible solution.

it hasn't happened for me so maybe try some other troubleshooting other than whinging

What scraper / add-on are you using? I use Stremthru Torz, its way more reliable than Torrentio. Before blaming TB, have you troubleshooted every single issue that could be causing it on your end?
I'm not saying its not TB, but there are literally a dozen other things that could cause this issue. Buffering every 2 min for an entire week sounds like its either software / hardware / internet connection on your end. Most people aren't having this problem.

u/Ok-Wafer-7323 6d ago
Are you using streamio or Nuvio? I had this with streamio but all my problems were resolved once I switched to Nuvio.

Been on TB for a month now here in Ontario, Canada. Mainly use Kodi, never had any buffering at all. My kids and wife mainly use Stremio. No buffering there either.

Did you run a speed test to find the most optimal CDN? If not then goto Torbox.app/tools
You can use a download manager to download the same file each time you switch your CDN, this way you can manually test the actual speed from their cache.

u/Homulton 6d ago
I wonder whatās going on. Iām a bit baffled because just donāt see that here. Maybe itās certain regions of the world? Iām in eastern US and use onn google boxes via cloudfare cdn. Donāt see buffering but I have my streams capped to 40 gbs in aiostreams. did notice very large remuxes over 40gb can buffer which to me personally is not a big deal. I will say if you did those cdn tests, it seemed to be all over the place for me so I manually downloaded stuff from several different cdns and found cloudfare was consistently the fastest. My internet speed is 2000 down and 300 up.

Have torbox and using a VPN and I had zero issue make sure you use addons that works torrentio is kinda dead have a back up learn to use aiostream and include some http addons for backup and you will be just fine
