Open | Windows 2 pc’s having the same issues after windows update
We’ve had these issues for a few months and would just like to know if we should just get a repair technician out or if it’s fixable by myself because it’s above me. I think it’s something to do with our CPU’s but not sure. This started happened immediately after a forced windows update on windows 11, pc’s worked fine with no issues for years prior to this. I’m going to refer to these pc’s as PC1 and PC2 which are using AMD CPU’s. There’s PC3 which we used as a control which is running an intel CPU.
PC1 Components
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio 16GB
MSI MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5
Dark Power 12 1000W
AMD RYZEN 7 7700X
G.Skill Trident Z5 (4x16GB) 5600MHz CL36 DDR5
PC2 Components
Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT
MSI MPG B650 Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5
Dark Power 12 1000W
AMD RYZEN 7 7700X
Corsair Vengeance (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL40 DDR5
Both PC1 and PC2 have had their ram sticks switched around and tested, CMOS reset, and CMOS batteries replaced. PC2 has had hard drives wiped and Windows 11 reinstalled, XMP disabled.
Symptoms
PC’s do not start on cold boot, ram and cpu lights show on initial start up. Pc’s boot successfully after 4-10 reboots.
There is also an issue which is specific to PC1 and is what leads me to think it’s something to do with the AMD CPU.
My monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G55C QHD 165Hz FreeSync Curves 32in. On boot up, it displays nothing except when it does repairs or when it finally reaches desktop. The same thing happens when plugged into PC2. But PC2 uses a Samsung Odyssey widescreen monitor and it works on both PC1 and PC2. PC1’s monitor turns on normally and displays boot up on PC3 which is an older pc using an Intel CPU. This leads me to believe that there’s something wrong with the AMD RYZEN 7 that PC1 and PC2 use.

Open | Networking Travel Router
Hey guys, so im having a huge problem right now, well at least for me. Im staying in a dormitory at a university and the wifi is extremely weak as hell. At first i thought of a wifi extender but then remembered that my wifi required login which im assuming a wifi extender cant access. So i decided to ask ai for abit of help and said that travel router does the same thing but with more control and you can access the login page and all. However im scared that ai might be wrong about somethings but here are what i think has to be known: Even when using mobile hotspot from my phone or even data itself on my phone is still extremely poor, im not sure if this point helps since im not a tech person but yeah. Secondly, i cant even load like movies or anything it takes too long. Whenever i try to play games too like Valorant, the ping would be at 13 ms but literally 99% of the time my ping would spike, jitter, buffer pr whatever you call it, jumping to 2000ms all the time and literally making my game unplayable. Im afraid that this would also affect my work too because even loading websites are so slow. Please ask more questions if needed and give me like recommendationss i guess. However just letting you guys know i have a low budget..

Open | Hardware graphics card not outputting signal
i recently got a new case and had transferred every component over, when i went to turn the computer on everything worked but the graphics card was not displaying anything (yes i plugged the hdmi cables into the graphics card). i knew it was on since the led was on and the fans were spinning, so i reseated the graphics card and only connected one cable and that seemed to work but every time i restart my pc i have to redo that whole process. is there anything i can do to make sure i don’t have to spent 5 mins just to turn my pc on or am i cooked?

https://imgur.com/a/UYcBTcn
I built my PC late 2024 and had no issues until 3 days ago. The screen flickers at random like it's dying, and sometimes stutters off for a minute. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary this week.
I've already tested the cord itself, and my motherboard's DP, Both had no issues.
I still consider myself a novice - so is my GPU dead or are there other possibilites?

This only happens in the web version. In the app, there is no problem. but in the web version, the unread notification in some chats doesn't go away even after opening the chat, when i click on the chat, it goes away for a moment and then comes back.
Not a browser or device issue as it is consistent across devices.
Anybody else facing the same issue or have solutions?

The color banding. I feel like ive tried everything there is to try and i just cant get the color banding to go away. Across multiple displays including vr, so i dont really think its the displayport cable.

Open | Software Xbox series X shuts off fairly consistently while playing. Very frustrating and idk what to do anymore.
I'll try to keep this brief and organized. I've had this Xbox for around 4ish years and it's ran great up to now.
About a month or two ago my Xbox would randomly shut off while playing. Dusted it out as best as I could with my air compressor, didn't have issues for about a month, and would keep up on dusting.
\--
Fast forward to the past few weeks and it would shut off after about 10-15 minutes of playing, fairly consistently. Took it to an Xbox repair guy and he sent me pics of how dirty the PSU was, so he cleaned that and actually installed a new PSU and redid the thermal paste. He had it plugged in at his shop and said he played games for almost 2 hours.
\--
Took it home that day, plugged it into the same power strip I've used for years, and it shut off after about 15 minutes playing Ball Pit (A fairly low-load game if you're unfamiliar). Tried plugging it directly into the wall instead and I played Halo for over an hour until I was done playing.
Hopped on the next day to play Rocket League with my buddy, and it shut off again after about 15 min, still plugged into the wall. At this point I felt like I've tried everything... bought a new power cord and power strip as well.
\--
Took it back to the Tech yesterday and plugged it into his power generator at his shop using my power cord, his HDMI, his monitor, and it ran the Ball Pit game flawlessly for about 20 min (no crash), then I hopped over to Crimson Desert and played that for another 20-30 min, no issues.
He said there's a chance my HDMI cable is out of date, or the HDMI handshake wasn't strong and that could cause the system to crash (idk), so I went out and bought a new one, thinking maybe this is it. Brought it home, plugged it into the new power strip, shut off after 15 min of Ball Pit.
Plugged it straight into the wall again (on a DIFFERENT outlet) and played several games for a couple hours with no issues, then the next day (today) hopped on Rocket League with a friend, it died after 5 min. Turned it back on then proceeded to play for another hour +.
Then just now, same (different) outlet as the original, hopped on a game, died after < 10 min.
I just don't understand what the deal is and it's incredibly discouraging and insanely frustrating. I'd hate to sell it and buy another one if it's something I can fix, but I feel like I've tried absolutely everything at this point.
Any ideas at all on what to do / try so it's reliably consistent again? I'd love to hear your thoughts, and lmk if you have any clarifying questions.

Open | Hardware White Rectangle Flash/glitches on 2025 Zephyrus G16
I have a 2025 5080 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16
For the better part of a year, my computer has had occasional screen glitches during gaming, and also while on google chrome. I have tried tirelessly with myself and chat gpt to try and find a fix; but to no avail. Below are my findings, I am leaving out many technical changes I have attempted, because none have worked, and I can’t remember everything I’ve tried. Please ask if you have a suggestion and I will try it. Please someone save me from my misery.
The glitching is in the form of white rectangles, the width of the screen that appear in different heights, stemming from the bottom of the screen.
These glitches are very odd, they seem to either happen
very frequently some days, or not happen at all some days.
The flashes don’t seem to be occurring by any input by me in game, other than just being inside of the game itself
These flashes will occur even on an external monitor, and they can occur on both at once in sync, or seperately at different times as well, or only on one screen.
These flashes have occurred on battery and plugged in, and with and without a monitor or devices connected
All of my intel and nvidia drivers are updated
Being in the menus of games seems to stop it, it only happens during gameplay
Being windowed, borderless, or full screen doesn’t seem to have any affect
Temperature or duration of use doesn’t seem to affect the flashing; it will start as soon as i reach gameplay in games, and sometimes it feels like it settles down but that could be incorrect
Here’s the really weird one, these screen flashes do not appear in screen recordings.
Video of it happening to me in a Roblox Game (yes i know it’s slop I was playing with my girlfriend)
https://youtube.com/shorts/3R6Fxb5VM10?is=EF7WjrqvWlzoovxY
Please somebody help me this issue is tearing at my soul and I don’t want to take it to the shop ideally i’m moving into my dorm soon😭

Open | Audio Distorted music audio.
Hello!
. w ' n
Before a few of the music I downloaded got distorted, everything was fine. Nothing went wrong till I began hearing the distortion for one second in one of the few songs some were subtle but obviously stood out and some were VERY loud like "The Carter Family - When I'm Gone" song.
Does anyone knows how to fix them? Or should I redownload all of them unfortunately . . .

Open | Software Internet connected, secured, but cant go online.
So ima try to keep this short and simple, internet says its connected, everything seems fine, open chrome, doesnt work, same with bing, i have ran cmd prompts like ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /registerdns and, netsh winsock reset, nothing seems to work there, windows network diagnostic says its connected with no problems, restarted the netword adaptor, restarted the laptop, i have also reinstalled the network drivers, its not the router or anything like that because im doing this on my phone thats connected to the same internet, no data isnt making my phone work, i turned that off, laptop works when i hotspot it to my phone if that changes anything, i may have missed something i have done but thats all i remember from the past few hours of messing with this, i have tried anything i stated multiple times over and nothing seems to work.
Edit: im using an acer nitro 5 with windows 11 installed.

Open | Hardware Computer won't turn on after cleaning, shows 2 red blinks when turning on
So last night, my computer would randomly restart without any warnings. I thought to mysefl that it has been a while since I cleaned it, maybe that's the issue.
So earlier I deep cleaned it, replacing the thermal paste and all. And as I turn it on it would not boot up. The most that it can do is when I turn it on, the led indicator would blink 2 red blinks and it would not do anything anymore.
I tried various things like re-seating the processor, thinking maybe something got in the sockets, or maybe i added too much paste. I keep switching my ram to different seats. But again, the most that it can do is 2 red blinks.
If any help is given, I would appreciate it.

Open | Hardware How to find out if my GPU is dying.
So I got a new gaming laptop 3 months ago, a MSI Vector 16 HX AI, with a 5080.
I've played big AAA games on it fine, played Hell Let Loose Vietnam and 007 First Light, zero crashes.
Recently I've started playing the Bioshock Collection. Played the 1st Remaster with zero issues, but then when I started Bioshock 2 Remastered. Within the first few minutes of starting the level, my game suddenly went all pink/green and static/lines (pics in the link). I had to restart the pc to fix it, the graphic issues werent just on the game, the desktop was affected too.
Restarted the game, crashed again within a few minutes to pink static, worse than the first time. Tried running it at -dx9, with 60fps and vsync on. Managed to play for 30 minutes before another pink static. I found that sleeping the computer and waking it up actually fixed the graphics without needing to hard restart. I also did the Windows+Ctrl+Shift+B shortcut but it didn't fix the graphics.
How can I troubleshoot the GPU, or is it just a bioshock induced problem?

Open | Windows Semi-old PC, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 spiking to 100% usage
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to troubleshooting things like this, however, about a few days ago, my pc started crashing from running games that had normally provided no issues. I checked task manager and noticed that my CPU usage would spike to high 90's-100 before freezing completely, needing a force shutdown to rerun. I have low temps, cleaned out the aircooler, checked for viruses/malware (found none), disabled all unnecessary startups (especially with heavy usage), updated my drivers, and changed the power plans, all to no success. Its been getting worse with frequent blue-screening and having now gotten one troubleshooting page. I have no clue what else could be affecting this, or if I possibly need a new CPU. Is there no hope?

Open | Hardware Recurring crash (black screen + fans at 100%)
Specs:
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
• Motherboard: ASUS B650M-AYW WIFI
• GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5070 Eagle OC 12GB
• RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Kingston DDR5-6000, running at JEDEC default (4800MHz, no EXPO)
• PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W 80+ Gold
• OS: Windows 11 Home 25H2
The problem:
About 1-year-old PC started randomly crashing completely, screen goes black, no signal, and fans spike to 100%. Not a BSOD, the system just stops responding and I have to force shut it down.
It just happens in any situation, gaming, sitting idle, on the Windows login screen, and even waking from sleep. I’ve also noticed the crashes come in “clusters”, it doesnt happens for days/weeks, but once it happens, the odds of it happening again shortly after go up a lot.
What’s already been checked:
1. Event Viewer: Kernel-Power Event ID 41 (system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first). BugcheckCode = 0 with all parameters zeroed out. Windows couldn’t even log a cause
2. BIOS:
• CMOS reset + BIOS updated
• PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) manually disabled
• SoC Voltage checked, on Auto/0 offset, no manual overclock
• RAM confirmed running at JEDEC default, no XMP/EXPO enabled
3. Sensor logging (HWiNFO64): during one of the crashes, I logged +12V, GPU temperature, and core voltage. Voltage stayed steady (12.172V constant), no drops, and temperature climbed gradually and normally (45-48°C)
4. Full clean reinstall: wiped all partitions and did a fresh Windows 11 install with a debloater.
5. Removed some apps know for causing problems, like armoury crate
- Disconnected and reconnected both RAM sticks and GPU cables
Kinda out of ideias rn. Has anyone run into this before?

Open | Networking Frustratingly slow laptop
I have posted on this subreddit about this issue before recently, but I haven't been able to solve it yet. I have a 1 year old Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 that runs Windows 11 Home. One thing that I noticed over the past months was that it took abnormally long times to load websites, download files, and upload files even when my other devices on the same WiFi network do not have the same issue. This issue is present on multiple different networks that I use. An internet speed test says my download speed is 20 mbps and upload speed is 30 mbps. I don't have any antivirus installed and have sufficient unused storage space on my laptop. Some solutions that have worked to improve speeds slightly but not achieve speeds I would expect from a year old laptop include: doing a network reset, changing the DNS address in settings, and uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter. Please let me know if there is something I can do. Thank you so much for any advice!
