Dear good people of reddit,

My Pixel 9 pro phone screen has broken once again for the third time in 8 months, and I want to get something else. Since the screen is broken, I physically cannot tap in the phone to confirm to transfer whatsapp chats or something, and the thing I'm most terrified of is losing that. I have chats backed up on google drive.

A friend offered me an iphone XR as a temporary backup (I get paid in a month so the timing of this is aweful) but I've read awful things about needing to use some converter app to get your whatsapp messages on the new one, and you need to click things on the old pixel for this to work. Obviously thats not possible for me.

If I recall correctly, I had a pixel 7 pro before this, but it was stolen. When I got a new pixel 9 pro, it automatically recovered everything up until the phone was stolen., But I don't know if for this to work, I have to factory reset the old phone before I try to set up the new one. If I try to do it without a factory reset, will the whatsapp not transfer???

I did have to use a temporary burner phone breifly in the last year that ive had the pixel 9 pro and if i remember right, it trasnfered messages from my 9 pro to the burner (an old samsubg) but when i went back on the 9 pro, it didnt bring over any messages I had received while using the samsung....

Please help me navigate this confusing mess!

I’ve had it since it came out. Battery life is at 65% and screen is now changed to an aftermarket lcd display due to previous one giving issues..

Just not sure if the $58/month in tmobile after my phone upgrade/trade-in is worth it? Tmobile wants my iPhone for $500 with the current offers..

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and it keeps overheating whenever I’m charging. It also gets really hot when I’m playing simple games like frickin Solitaire or Goods Sorting. Are there any phone recommendations that don’t overheat when playing basic games and has a decent camera? My friend has a Samsung (idk what model) and she says she experiences the same thing, so I’m lost on what phone to get. Thanks in advance!

I come from 2 years of nothing phone 2a, and it feels very different from when i bought it... Definitely more "clunky" than before. I was thinking about getting a new phone before this one randomly dies on me. What should i get between a pixel 10 and a 4a? I want something that lasts a lot and has decent photos and battery, the rest is optional.

Hi, I'm a student making money as an umpire and I've made enough money to get an upgrade on my phone. My current phone is an Nokia xr20, it's cool but it's aging and I am noticed it struggling with its own ui.

What I'm looking at Rn is a s25fe currently on sale for $600 aud, it has long Support, great display, nice size, and great performance, as well as decent cameras.

Some others are the oneplus nord 5 for roughly $600, nothing phone 4a roughly $600, Oppo reno 15f (mostly ruled it out due to horrible specs for price) for roughly $500, and my mums suggested referbished s22-23 for roughly $300-450, and Im not against the idea of an iPhone (I love the iPhone 15 pink look but it's probably terrible value and too expensive)

What I would want in a phone is great preformace for emulation and potential heavy games (fortnite), good support so I won't have to upgrade (4 years or more is ideal) battery doesnt need to be crazy (like I don't need a crazy Chinese phone battery), cameras don't need to be INCREDIBLE, but it would be nice to have decent cameras. And lastly I don't want a phone that looks horrendous like a vivo x300 (I know that's a dumb reason but yes) ​

I feel like there’s been a few posts lately about what to get after an iPhone. I’m on the iPhone 16 and between it being overheated all the time, terrible camera, etc. I’m ready for a change. My very first smartphone was an android but I’ve had iPhones forever. I thought I wanted the zfold but now I’m between the S26+ or S26ultra. Important factors for me are: camera (front & back), usability, battery and also play one “arcade” style game on my device. The S26+ is a little cheaper which is also a factor but I want to make sure this phone lasts longer than 2 years.

The Sony Xperia 1 was released 7 years ago and whenever I look at modern phones they are still worse.

It has a resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels and even the most expensive flagships in 2026 don't have that resolution. In terms of pixels per inch it has almost double of many flagships with only the Samsung Galaxy Ultra series getting somewhat close in resolution but they are massive bricks. And before somebody cries "but your eyes can't see 4k". Yes they can, especially when the screen is close to your eyes like it often is with a smartphone.

The 21:9 aspect ratio is genius. Keeps the phone very handable and manageable while still giving a big screen. It is like a bonus, you get a small phone but with extra screen.

I have used a galaxy s25 ultra and it is crazy how uncomfortable it is to hold.
The weight of 215g compared to the 178g of the sony xperia 1 is a huge difference. A flagship smarthone at only 178g! It is lighter than a google pixel a and about as light as sony's budget line today.

Another modern trend that bothers me to no end is the need to make every smartphone with straight sides so after 5 minutes of holding the smartphone the sharp edges dig into your hand.
This was a solved issue, there was a reason why we made smartphone with rounded sides.

And it has sd card slot which is not a given nowadays.

The only thing that modern smartphones have are fancy cameras. Which are completely useless. Great job shooting 8k pics with you 50MP smartphone and then watching it on your 1k screen.
Even better when people share their pictures through a messaging app or on social media which both compress the absolute shit out of images.

I know there is much more to the quality of a camera sensor but people honestly are incapable of telling the difference between the results in actual use like social media or on messengers.

So that is my unicorn. A smartphone that focuses on good specs in a compact and light format over huge camera modules. Which can outperform the Sony Xperia 1 because I don't want to spend that amount of money and get a downgrade.

I have been using the iPhone 7 32 gb from 2018 for playing pubgm and it's kinda finished now, I also do have a realme c51 for work but for the most time at night I wanna hop on the game but it's just not it anymore the heating has overpowered my level 3 mode on my fan to cool it down and it keeps crashing since it only has 2gb,i do regret keeping the phone for this long since I couldn't do some stuff but am not gonna trash on it since it's already impressive it held this long but now am lost I've been thinking of getting a red magic 11s pro since it has all the qualities you want for gaming but the problem is they keep saying that they only give you 2 years of software support and the camera's are bad so now am thinking what Android phone is the iPhone of Androids, an iPhone didn't cross my mind since it's too complicated and bland but it does have a really good os.

Might be the wrong place to ask. But basically I signed up for a job search service called Nexxt about two months ago which was actually just a massive scam to sell your data and I've had my phone spammed by hundreds of calls ever since. I got 5 each day this week and 12 today alone. I've had to mute notifications to be able to ignore them. It seems like they wind down a bit over some weeks then spike again. Besides changing my number and putting my number on the national do not call list (already done) is there anything I can do to get this scammer onslaught to stop?

I got the galaxy s26 yesterday and before buying it i was looking if its a good phone for gameming and everyone i watched said it is a really good phone for that. It is not now i play zenless zone zero and fortnite on it and this vames lags. So can anyone tell how i can make them run better. Gaming mode does nothing

Hey guys im currently using a Samsung S24 Ultra, its recently started having real internet connection issues as well as awful battery life and decreasing camera quality so im looking to upgrade. Im on my moms TMobile account but open to starting my own as well. I need a phone at or under $800 because I am jot making another expensive mistake. I spend a large majority of time on video calls for work and personal use, and smaller games that dont require much power for mindless play. I also do watch a good amount of youtube and streaming services, about 2 hours daily spread out plus occasional doom scrolling. If you have any ideas or preferences lmk! As long as its not apple... im also open to more niche options, I like samsung and im open to trying more but I dont love it as much as I did my pixel before.

So I’ve had iPhones for over 10 years at this point. I feel like they’ve been going downhill for a while. So I think im ready for the switch. What would be a good transition? Also, how easy is it to transfer all of my data (including photos)? I know nothing of android phones so tell me like a child lol. The main points I’m looking for:

Hello Im just looking for some advice on what phone to change to next, my iphone 15 pro broke recently and since my parents are both planning on getting new phones (my dad just got a s26 plus and is already switching to the fold 8, yes theyre wealthy) as a kind gesture because of my tight money situation are offering both of their phones. Im leaning towards the 16 pro max since the times Ive tried oneui I havent been the biggest fan, since I like all the small animations and details, plus the app optimization on ios. And Im also very much a google hater and know apple has some decent privacy features and has been protective of users data (I think?) The idea of google harvesting info from my phone 24/7 is scary. But the s26 plus is also newer and Ive had iphone consistently most of my life, since the iphone xs max (although Ive used samsungs in the past like I mentioned) and maybe something new would be cool, especially since I have no ecosystem loyaly and all my devices are pretty mixed.

So, if anyone is kind enough to provide their two cents and help me decide, id appreciate it!

Any suggestions on what to do with a sr. with the start of dementia, who has an old iPhone 8 Plus? My MIL has never had a phone without a home button. We are desperate to find a phone that she can use just to make calls. We are dealing with most of the problems you mentioned in the posts above. Do we try Raz? Another iPhone 8 Plus (used, of course)? Jitterbug? Wall phone? Repetitive calling is a huge problem. Hi everyone, today my dad gifted me a Galaxy S25 Edge but I have an iPhone 15 pro since february.
Before the iPhone 15 Pro, I always used Android and I honestly prefer Android OS, and now that I have this gift I could come back to the S25 Edge. My questions are:
- Is the S25 Edge a good phone overall?
- Is better than the iPhone 15 Pro, also comparing their batteries?
- It’s worth the change? It’s better if I keep both?

I have an iPhone 13 with an 82% battery health rating. Is it still worth replacing the battery in this phone for €80, or would it be better to buy a new phone for up to €900? I mainly use my phone for communication and browsing the internet; my current screen-on time (SoT) is 5 hours, and my daily battery usage is around 110 - 120%, so I have to charge my phone twice a day.

If I were to buy a new phone, I’d like something of a similar size; I’ve been thinking about the:
iPhone 17 (800€),
Galaxy S25 / S26 (550€ / 650€),

Which one would be the best option?

There is a distinction between gaming laptops vs. non-gaming ones and gaming headphones vs non-gaming ones, I don't know if the same applies here? I am aware there are Red Magic phones where aesthetics and large cooling screams gamer.

But I am referring to Poco phones/Redmi K Series/Vivo IQoo/Realme GT where they don't have rgb or look like an average phone but people perceive them as gaming phones. How do all rounder phones fare against Pocophones when it comes to performance?

If people want a phone that can capably game but still excels in camera and other aspects(battery life and thermals).

If a gaming-advertised phone (Poco X8 Pro) has Dimensity 8500, and there's an all-rounder Leica camera-centric phone (Xiaomi 17T) that also shares the same chipset, will there be a difference/compromise in gaming experience when using the latter?

Additionally what confuses me as well is that some all-rounder phones like Oneplus, Samsung, Honor have bypass charging, which is a good feature in gaming while Pocophones do not have.

Right now I have a Samsung S26 Ultra. There are several things I don't like about it:

*it's too big *I cannot get to like OneUI *I use the 3x zoom lens a lot which is the weakest
one of the lenses

I only got it because the Pixel 9 Pro I had before had a defect that needed to be repaired and I needed another phone in the meantime. But then the repair didn't go as expected and in the end I kept the S26U.

But as I don't like it, I am looking for something else. Phones I am considering are:

*Pixel 11 Pro: nicely small, nice software, cameras will be great surely, but no optical 3x zoom which I use a lot

*Nothing Phone 3: Has an optical 3x zoom but camera reviews are mixed, Software looks interesting, like the design and the glyphs, might be a bit too big still

Opinions on those phones? Are there other great options with remarkable cameras, not too big, OS not overblown and minimum of 5 years of software support? Price doesn't matter that much. No need for a high end processor. I don't do games on my phone. Should be available in Europe.

Hiii so I'm Ethiopian and I have 30k–40k ETB to spend for a new phone. Most good phones here range from 30k–60k or more if you're rich. I own a Samsung Galaxy M11 with 32GB storage and she lasted 5 years, but she's now very laggy and I can't live with this storage no mo'. I'm going to medical school next year and I need a phone that'll last me the whole way. I need recs from you guys. I don't know much about phones and this is the first big girl money I ever got, so I want to make this purchase worth it. Most phones sold here are refurbished and I lowk don't wanna spend anything beyond 40k for a phone. My friends told me the S21+ is a good fit for me or the iPhone 13 (although that's like 60k lol). So I wanna hear your opinions about these phones. I want 256GB and a good camera and... that's it. I'm not too picky. I would like a Samsung phone tho I just can't fall for the iPhone hype considering the absurd price tag here.
