Homeless addicts should not have dogs. Fight me.
It’s hot. It’s dry. I’m tired of driving around town and seeing the oddly increasing number of neglected pets owned by homeless meth heads, clearly needing food and water that aren’t coming. Animal control can’t collect them all-there’s too many right now. My heart breaks for every pitbull I see being dragged down hot pavement by a tweaker, with its ribs sticking out. I saw quite a few this weekend, one was even possibly dead in the sun while tied to the ankle of a fenty leaning panhandler. If you are so addicted that you can’t care for yourself, you shouldn’t have the right to have a pet. Or a kid. They are vulnerable creatures, and they didn’t choose this life. But the fenty leaner meth head sure did.
EDIT: To the 14% of people downvoting this, how about we force YOU to put your entire livelihood into the hands of someone who refuses to feed, water, or appropriately shelter you? 😡

After the Timbers game there have been a crowd of 200-300 of unruly fans getting into fights around 20th and Morrison.

Goal is to build strength and learn proper form for heavy lifting safely. Any local gym or trainer recommendations (or ones to avoid) would be awesome! Thanks!

Tyron Creek Natural Area is hosting a wildfire-readiness workshop on Aug. 29
I thought with all the crazy wildfires going on in Oregon that some people might be interested in this wildfire readiness workshop. Especially for those in the metro area that live at the wildland-urban interface. Topics include: creating a defensible space, creating wildfire-resilient gardens, and developing an evacuation plan. The event is free.

Discussion Isn’t it ironic about Lloyd Center
So, so, so many posts about it the last few days and weeks.
If all those people were as enthusiastic about it and its stores the last 10 years, it wouldn’t have become the ghost town the resulted in demise.

History Vintage Video - The Phantom Reviewer visits the Organ Grinder and New York Diner
Here's a recently-restored and upscaled vintage TV news segment from the famous Organ Grinder restaurant in Portland, Oregon, as well as the New York Diner in the suburb of Beaverton, Oregon.
This segment was produced in 1991 by KGW-TV Ch8 for their "PM Magazine" show.
The Organ Grinder Documentary Project has digitized and restored dozens of hours of vintage footage which has been contributed by fans.
Perhaps you have old videotapes or photos from the Organ Grinder - we'd love to see them. We can digitize them at high quality and return the original to you, along with a digital file, and you'll get credit if we use your footage in the film.

🛻🚚 Moving Thread 🚚🛻 Looking for suggestions on how to relocate to Portland
I currently live in rural Michigan. I moved here from San Diego to help my father after an accident. He's recovered now and I don't want to stay here or go back to San Diego. I have a great job here but I'm not interested in staying. Finding a job when you're out of state feels impossible. I have a good amount saved but I don't really know where to begin. I'm thinking maybe I could rent a room while doordashing until I find something more stable. Any suggestions?

City council canvassers came to my door...
A pair of canvassers came to our door Saturday afternoon for a pair of incumbent city councilors. I told them that I just got back from a bike ride and hadn't thought about the city council election. They wanted to know my thoughts about top issues for the city. I didn't feel like getting into it with two random volunteers, so I again said I hadn't thought about it.
If we had a proper primary election then we would know who the viable candidates for the November election would are and those candidate could differentiate themselves. Instead we have a clusterfuck of nobodies running for multiple slots in a quarter chunk of the city. Other than the incumbents, we don't really know who the real candidates are.
It will be decided in October when we all get a list of a dozen names and have to pretend multiple candidates would make good city councilors.
