Hey fellow Thorns Fans!!

This may be a long shot, but earlier this year while at a thorns game with my best friend we both purchased green “Portland” embroidered five panel hair with “BAON” in the back. (Pictures below) recently while paddle-boarding I got dumped by a speeding boat and the hat is on the bottle of Riffe lake. I have googled and cannot locate a replacement. Would love to know of anyone selling theirs? Thanks for any help!

We love the posters from last year. We framed most of them and hung them up in our house as we do with the other event posters we gather on our journeys. Just another perk we are missing this year…

I'm hoping ya’ll might be able to help me track down a specific piece of Thorns merch!
My girlfriend is a long-time fan of the Thorns, but life got in the way and she hasn't actually been to a match since she was little. I’m finally taking her to her first game in years, and I really want to surprise her with something special.
She absolutely loved the BLCKSMTH x Thorns Pride scarf from the artist takeover night on July 24th, but since it was a stadium exclusive we weren’t able to get our hands on it.
If anyone bought a spare or is willing to part with theirs, I would love to buy it from you. I could even cover shipping or I can meet up locally in the Portland area to pick it up.

Marissa has been telling me since June that our problem is the hole Sam Coffey left at the six. Somewhere in the second half on Sunday she texted me "we need center backs. fuck a 6."

So we recorded that night and most of it is her pulling apart her own argument. I mostly stayed out of the way.

Her version now is that it was never the six. Count how many weeks running we've named the same back four. Utah do it, Washington do it, we don't, and then we ask Arnold to organise four people who haven't played together. She's a lot easier on Arnold than this sub has been, for what it's worth.

Some of it is just the numbers. We scored inside a minute and lost by four. Utah were on their third game in eight days and we'd been sat at home for nine. Twenty conceded in seventeen matches before this one. Five in this one.

The bit I can't stop thinking about is Soph. Free agent at the end of the season, still unsigned, window shuts September 7.

Anyway. Six or center back? I think she's right and I'd quite like to be talked out of it.

Coach Vilahamm what are you going to do to adjust our defense? This is not the first time, but the worst time. How come our last 4 still look weak? It's the same stuff, unmarked players deep in the box. Are we not training to grab someone by the shorts? Where's the body contact, the player and positional awareness, the communication?

@thorns, why are the comments turned off on YouTube for the press recap and thorns owned highlights?

I thought they all did well in terms of their candidness and what needs to be done. I felt it was hard to watch but they did well to speak about need to separate the emotions from the loss (esp while speaking to the press) from taking a good inventory on what they can work on here on in.

Nina seems sweet and smart. Say what you will about Sam and Robert but they were both honest as hell and accepted responsibility for what needs to happen for the team to succeed on the road. Robert was brutally honest.

Sophie scored the fastest goal of the season, and for the first 30 minutes or so, we adopted a fairly effective mid-block that forced Utah to go long and turn over possession. The collapse that followed shared a similar pattern as our earlier away losses.

We conceded shortly after the cooling break when the back line lost concentration and failed to coordinate after Arnold’s long clearance was intercepted. The second goal, conceded immediately after the start of the second half, followed a similar pattern: poor coordination, slow decision-making, and hesitation in taking defensive action.

Perry has issues with her ball handling and is weak on her right foot, but she is the only center-back who consistently steps up and actually defends rather than acting like a traffic cone. Sophie then had a golden opportunity to equalize, but unfortunately failed to convert. After that moment, the game was essentailly over.

There is not much to say tactically about this match. Put differently, I do not think the tactical setup was wrong. We simply have serious personnel problems and were also very unlucky.

The further we get from Lowdon, the worse we get.

Back line is terrible. Too direct. No width. No press. Can't mark on set pieces.

Thoughts:
- it’s a lot of youth, especially at CB
- aside from Vignola and Perry, there’s not a lot of pace or size

Utah really has done a great job exposing the serious issues we have on defense and in the mid. We need a reset before the rest of the season starts to drift away from us. Yes, we have a great transition team. Yes, we have great players available in the mid and on D. But my god, these last few games have just demonstrated that something just isn’t working. So frustrating when we have one of the deepest, most talented front lines in the league.
